What's In A Name
Date of Scene: 25 April 2017
Location: Gotham City
Synopsis: Summary needed.
Cast of Characters: Jim Gordon, Zachary Lightwing

Jim Gordon has posed:
Since the Daily Bugle found out, Jim Gordon's been a little harried at trying to figure this out. The Mayor's on his case, and he refuses to let Bullock handle the case at all. Gordon knew of only one person that wouldn't accept bribes from anyone in Gotham, or expect handouts from them as well, and that was himself.

He'd finally gotten the autopsy report and the crime scene information in separate folders. He was persently going over them....

Zachary Lightwing has posed:
A soft hum plays from the lights. Nothing, right? Electrical systems can do funny things.

A small white cat-like ghost falls from one of the lights and soundlessly drifts to a stop like a puff of smoke onto a nearby surface, relatively close to eye level.

"Commissioner James Gordon."

The green-eyed apparition has a buzzing voice that seems almost child-like due to its size.

"I hope you don't mind the unannounced visit," he says, his voice sounding friendly, "But I had a few questions just... weighing on my mind, and no one else to really ask about it."

Jim Gordon has posed:
And that green eyed apparition has a .38 revolver pointed at his face before he can speak. Too many accidents lately. But as the apparition is rather polite and doesn't seem hostile, Gordon lowers his pistol. "One of these days, you people are going to give me a bit of a heads up before I have a heart attack. So what's on your mind?"

Zachary Lightwing has posed:
The apparition didn't seem threatened by the revolver. Being a ghost, it might not need to worry about it.

"I did some digging, despite myself, and I happened across something very strange. Bruce Wayne's death, as I'm sure you have your hands full with even right now, has a very unusual suspect. This might sound crass, but..."

"Commissioner, did Batman really kill Bruce Wayne?"

The cat tilts his head, his tone expecting there to be something to this, and also prodding. It's that kind of tone people have when they have only part of the puzzle and they're shaking the tree for more.

Jim Gordon has posed:
"Batman doesn't have claws, I don't think. And if you know my name, tell me yours, or you're just going to be named 'Spook'." Gordon lays the pistol on his desk....apparently still expecting trouble.

Zachary Lightwing has posed:
"I don't have one to give you. Spook doesn't sound very catchy, though I guess Batman's a little on the nose, too, huh..."

Zachary sounds so relaxed. He feels zero threat and gives off zero hostility.

"Call me whatever you like."

"I poked around at the Wayne Tower footage personally," he tells Gordon, which is quite frankly illegal but he doesn't seem to care if Gordon knows what he did. "And there's just a single frame of footage surviving from that day. Bruce Wayne is being confronted by what I think is Batman, but the angle wasn't perfect. I couldn't get a copy of the footage out, not without leaving evidence I was there."

"I need to know what happened. Gotham is my home. And this... I need to know the truth."

From friendly to serious in an instant.

Jim Gordon has posed:
"I haven't had a chance to talk to Mister Pennyworth yet, but I wanted to head there after I looked over the photos and autopsy report here. He has defensive wounds, and gashes on him that suggests whatever attacked him....had claws. He also has radiation burns. So, unless Batman has developed Radiation weapons and claws, I don't think he did it. Something else killed Bruce Wayne....."

Zachary Lightwing has posed:
Zachary looks down and seems ... relieved to hear that it probably couldn't have been Batman. But he also seems to squint as his thoughts churn.

"If you're saying it couldn't have been him, then..."

"What actually killed him? There's claw marks and burns, sure, but what's the ultimate cause of death? Blood loss? Destruction of a major organ...?"

Jim Gordon has posed:
"Heart Failure, but that's the cause of every death in the world. Blood loss and blunt force trauma. Radiation poisoning also a contributor. That guy was in pain when he died. He was beaten to death." Jim is rather blunt. "The radiation was probably the first attack on him."

Zachary Lightwing has posed:
Zachary doesn't seem bothered by the direct answer. Jim's a cop, and he's probably seen a lot. Gotham isn't the prettiest city to live in. "Cut up. Struck. Burned with... radiation...?" The cat tilts his head. "Hmm."

"Is there any way to know whether all of that happened on the day he died?" He turns his head to get a look at the paperwork that James was going over, curious about whether that detail is contained in there. "Is it possible the radiation happened sometime before?"

Jim Gordon has posed:
"Don't know. You know as much as I do. Apparently, he got radiation sometime that day, and then was beaten and clawed to death. That's about all the autopsy shows. Half-life on radiation is hard to uncover, even on a body. I don't think you'll be the last to ask about Wayne, but I will ask that...whatever I tell you is kept away from the media or the GCPD." he then looks tot he specter. "I run an entire district of corrupt cops. If they're not corrupt, they're rookies."

Zachary Lightwing has posed:
Zachary nods seriously. "I don't plan on endangering you or the department by saying anything dangerous about this. After I saw that footage I came straight to you, after all, because you seem like you'd know enough about Batman to set my mind straight."

"But now I have even more questions, and the only one I even knew to ask was you," he admits, "Or Batman, but I have no idea how to contact /him/ short of causing a big mess that'll draw more than just his attention."

Jim Gordon has posed:
"I have a way to contect Batman, and I'll be going to him as soon as I can make heads or tails of this." Jim says softly. "And make copies of the reports here." He says looking out the window.....and glad no other police are in the area. "Matter of fact....if you can keep an eye out for me. I'll do just that." He says putting everything into their respective folders and heading for the copier. "If anyone comes towards the copier....scare them off, wouldja?"

Zachary Lightwing has posed:
"I will be the guardian of your paperwork."

Zach will then just obediently sit around, happy to help Jim out just for the chance to make spooky ghost cat noises at superstitious corrupt cops and maybe zap them (harmlessly) if they think he isn't a threat.

Jim Gordon has posed:
Thankfully, no one comes around. One woman peeks Gordon's way, but is too consumed in her work to even worry about it. After about a half an hour, the copies are done and he makes two new folders out of them. "Ahhh. All right. Looks like it's time to head back to the GCPD and put these on my actual desk. Tomorrow....be on the roof of the GCPD."

Zachary Lightwing has posed:
"Got it. Thank you, Commissioner!"

And with that, Zach vanishes back into the nearest electrical cable to go who knows where.
