A Day In The Life of Connors
Date of Scene: 05 February 2022
Location: Tealboro, Hell's Gate
Synopsis: This is not the barbecue you're looking for, you can go about your business, move along, move along.
Cast of Characters: Cameron, Sarah Connor, John Connor

Cameron has posed:
The door to the Baum house opened, allowing a figure to enter. Only, the smell might enter the room before the person does. Cameron stops on the mat by the entry door, not going any further. To say she reeks is an understatement. Her jeans and t-shirt are stained with unknown substances.

"I found it."

She doesn't really need to say what it is. The thing they had been looking for of late was two missing terminator units. Her job had been searching the landfills. Put two and two together.

Sarah Connor has posed:
Coming out of the kitchen where she's been oiling her guns Sarah stopped dead and put her hand over the bottom of her nose.

"I hope you mean what I think you are saying.. holy shit.. did you have to dig the whole way through the entire plot. Can't you smell that?"

Quickly she opened a window, and put on several candles. "Tell me everything?"

John Connor has posed:
John Connor had been eating an English Muffin, so nice and fluffy, and coated with a thin layer of salted butter, which had just melted into the bubbly crevices of the muffin. It was delicious in its carb-ie goodness. But that was before the smell had permeated the room. John, in the process of biting, suddenly lost his appetite, and put the muffin back down onto the blue ceramic plate, holding it in one hand. "Unless we need to go deal with it now, you should probably go take a shower... or five. Everything else can wait, right?"

Cameron has posed:
She remained close to the door. "I am aware of the odor." Which is why she didn't walk further into the house. Not that she needed to with that smell.

"I have been checking various sites." Since they had learned about the missing units. "I found it today. Under a months worth of garbage. I was able to use some equipment on the site for part of it but not all." Thus the state of her clothing and self.

"I brought it back for us to burn. The danger of lighting it at the landfill was too extreme. There was no evidence it had been tampered with."

Sarah Connor has posed:
"Thank goodness for that."

The smell didn't get any further, thank god, with the window open, and the candles lit. But only one of the two bodies were found yet. With luck the other one would be similarly buried.. with luck..

Unfortunately, Sarah didn't believe in luck.

"Good thing you brought it back." After all the odds are they'd burned the whole pile down, and that was not in the program. It would be tantamount to holding a flashing sign telling the terminators 'Here they are! Right here!"

But she has to agree with John. "Take a shower. Then we'll talk."

John Connor has posed:
Setting his plate down on an end table, in front of a lamp, John moved close to Cameron, the smell was terrible, but still, he entered the periphery of her personal space, so he could get a look at the drive way, to see if the truck was out there, body in the back, or if she had parked it in the back. Thankfully, she had parked it in the back. He probably could have found the same information by opening the back door, but curiously, that's not the option he chose. "We might want to burn those clothes too. Tide is strong, but even it has its limits."

Cameron has posed:
Cameron glanced down at her shirt. "I like this shirt." Yet, she understood the advice. From both of them.

The truck was in the backyard. The terminator in the bed under a tarp so it wasn't seen when she was driving. After all, it looked a lot like a dead body except the areas where the skin had been damaged to reveal the metallic skeleton beneath. Kind of hard to explain to police had it been laying in the open.

"I will shower." And with that she turned in the direction of the bathroom. "I will throw the clothes out the window to add to the burn pile." And her sneakers. They were a loss. She disappeared into the bathroom, closing the door behind her.

Sarah Connor has posed:
"I'm sure," Sarah checks the outside for nosy neighbours. Thankfully there aren't any tonight. "We can afford a new outfit. I'm not cleaning *those*."

"Get the stuff needed to burn him." Sarah told John, correctly assuming he wouldn't be hungry anymore. Meanwhile she gathered sticks and stuff to make it look just like a bonfire - a really hot bonfire - in case someone peeked on them while the body was burning. "I wonder what one did she find?"

The alley behind the restaurant, or the alley right next to the church.

John Connor has posed:
John did as was instructed, heading outside, to catch the clothes as they were thrown out the window. He was so tempted to peek, but did not. Even if he did, he probably would have only seen an arm. Catching the clothes, which was not the best ideas; he would need to thoroughly clean his own. Afterwards, he immediately headed into the garage, where he put the clothes into a garbage bag, all except the shirt. That was placed in an old portable cooler. He would see if he could get that dry cleaned. Maybe they could salvage it.

Placing the cooler back where he had found it, he brought garbage bag with the rest of her clothes out. He and his mother could carry it from the truck, but they wouldn't be as quick, agile, or quiet, as Cameron, so he would wait until after her shower before trying to move the chassis. "No idea, I never got a look at either. Would you recognize it... from whatever's left?"

Cameron has posed:
There was no seeing her from that angle. Just the clothes flying out the window. Then a shoe followed by the other shoes. Everything went out the window. A moment later, she was in the shower.

This was going to take a bit since washing her hair was a task unto itself. Wash, rinse, repeat. At least three times. Maybe more.

Sarah Connor has posed:
"Assuming the skin is theoretically human.. and seeing that nothing rots once it is buried.. Probably."

Nothing rotted once it was buried. They had brought up chunks of garbage (like they would in a mining core) where they could read newspapers as clear as day; food that hadn't rotted, such as lettuce; as long as it was buried it stayed 'fresh'.

"I'll be able to see once we get out there. Pull out the hotdogs, to disguise what we are doing." Okay, it wouldn't be the best idea, and they certainly were not going to eat them! But she tried.

John Connor has posed:
John lived in a home with two women. He was used to them taking their sweet time in the shower. As badass as they were, they still had to look good, and it took time to wash their long, luxurious locks, apply makeup, make their outfit look just right, and appropriate for whatever they were doing. Plus, very often one or both needed to 'pretty' it up for something undercover, pretending to be less badass than they really were. So yeah, he was used to waiting for them to get ready. He and his uncle would sometimes play video games while waiting. And this time, Cameron had an excuse, and desire from the others, to make this an especially thorough cleaning.

"Do they rot? I don't think I've ever seen one, this long after..." he was going to say death, but that seemed wrong. Deactivation seemed equally incorrect. "... being fresh." That had to work for something. Then he cast a sideways glance at his mom, "uh, sure." Shaking his head, he would head in to grab hot dogs, buns, condiments, everything. Plus a red and white table cloth for the table they had out there. If you were going to fake it, you better do it right.

Cameron has posed:
It was quite a bit later when Cameron came out. Wearing all fresh clothing, smelling of whatever shampoo and soap had been bought on their grocery run. Her hair was wet and hanging down, dampening the back of her t-shirt, plain black. Jeans. A pair of sneakers that had never seen a landfill.

She looked at the preparations for their bonfire and weenie roast. A good cover and well thought out. She did a quick scan of their area and there were no witnesses she could pick up. "I will get some more wood out of the truck."

Translation: Time to get the body.

Sarah Connor has posed:
"Great." Sarah doesn't have any concerns about Cameron. She knows she's going to get the body - even if she also picks up some wood. "We need hardwood if you can find it. I'll get the skewers from the shed."

Translation: I'll get the fuel to burn it.

"Don't know John, I've never found one so long after it went missing."

Translation: Normally we blast the shit out of them immediately.

John Connor has posed:
Running into Cameron, while holding a bag of hot dog buns, as she came down the stairs, John moved closer to her, possibly too close, but he was curious how she smelt. "Much better," he said, "all fruity like." And then whispered, "I saved your shirt. It's in a cooler. I'll see if I can get it dry cleaned or something." He whispered as his mom would probably think it was possible evidence or something. She could be so paranoid about these things.

Then heading out, he set everything out. They were ready for the body. Pouring drinks for them, the table was set, everything as if they legitimately were having a barbecue. He even poured glasses at various heights, so if someone looked over, it would look like some had already taken sips, some a little, others a lot.

Cameron has posed:
When John explained about the shirt, Cameron looked at him blankly for a moment. Honestly, she was a little confused. It was a shirt. She didn't realize how little things she said might have a big impact on the young man. So she went with what the programming dictated. "Thank you."

Then she headed for the truck to lower the tailgate. The 'wood' was taken out of the bed of the truck, along with the tarp that was covering it. Because really, having a body slung across her arms if someone did happen to look out would be bad. She set it down by the bonfire then gave a good kick to shove it into the pile.

The tarp was wrapped up into a wad in her arms as she waited for Sarah to add the necessary excellerant to make things burn hot enough to melt the terminator.

Sarah Connor has posed:
Previously Sarah had switched the label on the accelerant - for just such an occasion. And she threw a handful of long sticks. Good for making a pretend weenie roast, and especially at poking a terminator's body as he melted down.

You would almost think they'd done this before.

Before she threw anything on it, she looked at the body. "Damn. The second one. I have a really bad feeling about the first one."

Sarah? Having bad thoughts? Nooooooo .. say it isn't so. Paranoid much?

John Connor has posed:
It was a shirt that a Terminator held affection for, or seemed to. They had known that Cameron was different for some time now, and the more she grew, the less like a machine she seemed to be. She had hobbies, interests, friends, a whole life, away from them. She never let it interfere with her duty, as far as he could tell, but there seemed to be more to the cyborg, and he wanted to encourage it. He treated her as if she were a human, most of the time. The only exceptions were when it was mission specific. "At least this isn't Star Wars." He forced a smile towards his mom at the bad feeling remark.

Cameron has posed:
"This was the last landfill in the area. Anything else may have been disposed of at sea," Cameron said. As that was still the practice in some places, as horribl as it might be. "Or someone found it."

Which was worst case scenario and what everyone was worried about. At the comment from John, she looked over at him as her brow furrowed in a very human manner. "I do not understand this reference." She'd seen Star Wars. All of them. Thanks to John's need to take care of her education on all things modern times. But she wasn't sure how it applied.

Sarah Connor has posed:
"You know in Star Wars that phrase was like talking about Macbeth if you were in a play." Sarah did not appreciate the analogy. Even if John was trying to make her feel better. Still she half-smiles for a minute at John, before her serious face returns.

"That's what I'm afraid of." Nodding to Cameron. "It was stupid. I should have stalked the alley until the police were gone, but I was afraid of that man from SHIELD learning anything more about me. Especially more about the terminators."

For all she knew SHIELD had picked it up. She didn't know if that was good or bad yet.

John Connor has posed:
"Luke said 'I have a very bad feeling about this' before seeing the Death Star for the first time, Han said 'I got a bad feeling about this', just before the walls of the trash compactor began to close in, Leia said 'I have a bad feeling about this,' just before the mynocks appeared, C-3PO said ' I have a bad feeling about this,' just before being given to Jabba the Hutt, and Han said 'I have a really bad feeling about this' before the Ewoks tried to roast him on a spit. You say that in Star Wars, somebody bad happens immediately. They used it in the prequels and sequels, but they aren't nearly as cool."

"And you can't beat yourself up mom, you're only human. We do the best we can. We make choices. We live with them. Once a decision is made, you move forward. There's no sense dwelling on the past. You either fix problems, like we're doing now, or you don't. But nothing can come from self doubt or second guessing. You can't go back... normally. Our lives do kind of make a bit of a joke about it." He was always inching closer and closer to the man he would one day become.

Cameron has posed:
That explained it. Moreso than she had expected. Cameron looked from John to Sarah and back again. "Thank you for explaining."

She listened to John reassure Sarah, not moving, not adding. It was the truth. Decisions were made. Sometimes they were good, sometimes they weren't. At the time, they were the best that could be done. "I do not believe we can gain access to SHIELD to determine if they have it."

Sarah Connor has posed:
"I know. Unless you could John. But more than likely they would be on to us, which has its own problems. Remember, they aren't so far removed from the FBI."

Which Sarah had a wee little problem with. Namely an open arrest warrant with her name on it.

John Connor has posed:
\Yeah, many people could quote scenes from the original trilogy, line by line. Some could quote the entire films. And John Connor had an excellent memory. He had also seen it many times. He actually developed his neutral American English accent from watching American movies, while growing up in South and Central America. So he knew it very well.

"I don't know," he sighed, think about it, "I would only try under some pretty specific circumstances. I would need a suitable computer system," he thought about explaining it. Cameron would understand, his mother would not, so he left it at that, "easy nearby access to high speed internet, multiple escape points, an isolated place, far away from surveillance. There's tough and then there's tough. This is the latter. I pretty much want to be out in the middle of Utah, next to a junction, and then go camp out someplace for a few weeks, until it's safe to come out of hiding." Now who was paranoid?

Cameron has posed:
"They likely have shared databases," Cameron noted. Not a lot was known about SHIELD but they were scary. Like Black Ops but not exactly. Mixed with the Men in Black, another set of movies John had put on their viewing list in the past so she had experience with.

"I doubt their computers are on a level we could gain access. The only way I can think of is by using me as bait but there is the danger they could capture me and gain access to the technology." Which would be a Bad Thing <tm>.

Sarah Connor has posed:
"No. What's another week or two if SHIELD has it."

From what she was able to glean by herself, SHIELD made the FBI look like child's play. If they had it they probably knew where they lived. And if that was the case they were just biding their time before taking her away.

Or worse: picking up John.

Not that she's sharing such thoughts with John. Cameron? She might have an inkling where Sarah's thoughts were going to.

"I suspect it was taken by.. someone. Someone who is savvy enough to keep it under wraps, but not savvy enough to know what he has. Which makes me afraid." Not just for what they have, but because they are in trouble if the terminators found out. And if there was something that Sarah hated more than anything, it was rescuing stupid people from theirselves.
