Cast of Characters: Storm, Phoenix

Storm has posed:
With the morning's classes wrapped up, Ororo has chosen not to remain on the school grounds for lunch. She was in the mood for something different, and so she'd come to Mel's. She's comfortably settled at a booth in a corner, keeping an eye on the rest of the place as well as the door, simply out of habit. A menu sits on the table in front of her, and she has a cup of tea held lightly between her hands. Her gaze lowers to the menu, perusing it. She'd sent a message to Jean, to invite her to join her here if she had the opportunity.

Phoenix has posed:
There are times Jean, too, chooses to go off campus for lunch. Today is also one of those days for her. ~"You shouldn't have waited for me,"~ comes into Ororo's mind as the door opens. ~"But I'm glad you did."~ There is a smile in the sound of her mental voice, amusement tinging her thoughts. Jean nods to the waitress and nods toward Ororo's table and says she's meeting the woman here. Then she heads back. "Ro," she greets.

Storm has posed:
There's a smile that comes to Ororo's features at the familiar voice in her head, and she lifts her cup of tea to take a small sip. ~"I know I should not have. But I wanted to wait for you. And I always do, you know -- at least until I know if you're not coming,"~ she thinks in response. Her gaze turns towards Jean as her friend approaches, and her smile brightens. "Jeanie, I'm glad that you decided to join me for lunch," she says in a warm tone, her blue eyes showing a sparkle to them.

Phoenix has posed:
Jean Grey can't help but to smile at her friend and colleague. "I know you do," she says. Just as Ororo knows that Jean will always let her know if she isn't coming. She slides into the booth and settles back against the seat. She takes a moment to pull her hair out from behind her and over her shoulder before reaching for a menu. She probably already ordered tea, because it arrives moments after she starts looking through the menu. "I'm glad you invited me," she says. "It's good to get out. What are you having?"

Storm has posed:
Indeed, Ororo knows that Jean will always let her know if she's too busy to come or otherwise not able to. And on those times, she tends to offer to bring something back for her friend. "It gives my tea a chance to cool somewhat. And if give me a chance to at least start to decide what to get," she comments, quirking a smile. It would seem that she's in a fairly good mood, in the moment. "You are always welcome to join me for any meal that I am having, Jeanie. Any time of the day, any time you wish and wherever I happen to be," she says in a warm tone. She lowers her gaze to the menu for a moment, and then hse lifts one of her shoulders in a slight shrug. "I am considering the chicken wrap, today. What are you thinking of having?"

Phoenix has posed:
Jean Grey usually takes Ororo up on the offer to bring her something back on those occasions when she can't get away. It's a nice thing for someone to do. And on the occasions Jean can get away but Ororo can't, Jean does likewise, bringing Ororo food. "Like wise, Ro," she replies. "That sounds fantastic." She orders the chicken wrap and the waitress leaves. She picks up her tea and takes a sip of it.

Storm has posed:
Slipping the fingers of her right hand around her mug of tea, she lifts it to take a sip of it, then keeps the mug held in her right hand. "It usually is. I have had it before, here. They put bacon in it, as well," she says, a smile tugging at the corners of her lips. Along with vegetables -- lettuce and tomato, and cheese. It's a delicious combination. "How have you been doing, Jeanie?" she asks, a touch of curiosity to her voice. When she hasn't been teaching, she's been spending time either in the danger room practicing or working on the gardens to get them ready for spring.

Phoenix has posed:
For a few sips worth of time, Jean gives her tea considerable attention. As one /should/ do when drinking tea. "That sounds even better," she says, lowering the tea to set it back to the table's top. She considers the question before answering immediately. It's a question that requires a little thought! "I am.. not bad. Busy, as does tend to happen, but good. How are you holding up? Teaching load not too much?"

Storm has posed:
Softly, Ororo settles her mug of tea back to the table top, though she keeps her fingers lightly wrapped around it. "Bacon makes a lot of things better," she comments with a touch of amusement to her voice. Her gaze falls to the tea's surface for a moment, then flicks up to meet Jeanie's. A smile turns at the corners of her lips at Jean's answer, and she gives a small nod. "Not bad is good," she says, sounding pleased. "Busy is often the state of affairs for you," she adds, a thoughtful note to her voice. Then she's quiet for a moment, considering the question as it's turned back to her. "I have been doing well. The teaching load is just the right amount. I have been practicing in the danger room. My balance has been good," she says. She partly means physical, but she also means emotional and mental as well.

Phoenix has posed:
"Bacon really does make a lot of things better," agrees Jean. She lifts her right hand and runs the tip of her pointer finger around the rim of her glass. She lifts a shoulder at her general state of affairs being labeled as 'busy'. Hard to argue when it's true! She nods with a smile. "Good! I'm glad it's not too much for you. I try to schedule things so none of you have too much of a load." Sometimes, it's not easy to find teachers who are also mutants. "Practicing is good. I should do more of that myself."

Storm has posed:
"There is a bakery in the area, and they put bacon in their chocolate chip cookies. I have not tried them yet, but I have heard that they are quite good," Ororo says, a touch of amusement to her voice. She's curious to try them. "We should make a day trip to the beach one weekend. Make a picnic, go swimming, throw a frisbee around," she suggests, her blue eyes showing a sparkle to them. Then a smile comes easily to her features. "You always schedule me perfectly, Jeanie. Except for when I am having an 'off' time, but I always tell you about those when they happen," she says, giving a small nod. "I enjoy the time for practicing. It helps to clear my head sometimes. You should practice in Cairo with me," she adds. In the danger room, that is.

Phoenix has posed:
"There's a place in Portland that puts bacon on their maple bars. It's really quite good." Jean's finger slows, and stops, pausing there for a moment. She laughs. "It's been ages since I've been there." The finger starts moving again. "We should. The beach sounds fun. Maybe make a field trip out of it." That.. probably wasn't quite what Ororo ahd meant! She nods about off times. Not only do they happen, but they are scheduled around as needed.
