Frank Castle and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day
Date of Scene: 20 March 2022
Location: Detriot, Michigan
Synopsis: Frank's attempts to catch a HYDRA agent covertly turn into explosions.
Cast of Characters: Phantasm (Drago), Punisher

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
It is the early morning hours on this sleepy street in Detroit. Most people have long since fallen asleep. Just those of the nocturnal type remain alert to what goes on around here. The sound of gravel that is kicked up from a cheaply filled pothole gives a soft alert to a beat up sedan rolling down the streets. Being an older car, theengine isn't the quietest, but it's not overtly loud either. The man driving it at least made the effort not to be THAT guy with the car backfiring at the worst hours of the night.

That doesn't stop the soft squeak of brakes as it finally pulls up alongside the curve in front of a rather worn looking single-story house that from a glimpse looks like it couldn't possibly hold more than two rooms inside. The grassless lawn in front makes the message clear. Whoever lives here doesn't spend much time working on the house.

The car sits there for a few moments, lights on and engine still running. There's the sound of something locking in to place and then the engine dies. The lights are soon to follow.

Punisher has posed:
He had spent the last three days tailing the man, making sure the routine was solid. People are creatures of habit. It makes them feel safe, secure, like nothing can go wrong. This is true for the vast majority of people.

Unfortunately, routines are easily exploited if you've been doing covert ops as long as Frank has.

As the engine dies, there's a soft humming sound that can only barely be heard that fires from under the gravel concealment under the car. It's localized enough not to disturb the houses, but it's more than enough to hit the car and everything in it.

It's not like EMP mines are very flashy... which is the point.

Moments after the mine triggers, the Battle Van suddenly hot-starts just down the street... and is immediately driving onto the pavement and over the grassless lawn, moving into position in case the Punisher needs to intercept the target.

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Albert Rossen had a long night already. The dark haired, shaggy man still had the scent of the bar he had been working in still on him. Complete with the hints of smoke from some of the patrons. So when the EMP device goes off, he's not quite at his most alert to even notice any additional sounds that may be going on. Nor does it register when he tilts his hand to look to his watch. Whether or not the second hand is even moving on the analog watch is not even registered as the time displayed is close enough. The time? Why it is 'Damn you should be in bed' o'clock.

Giving a grumble, he undoes his seatbelt and starts to open his car door. It is the movement of the Battlevan that finally takes him out of his sleepy stuport. "The f-?!" Adrenaline starting to kick in, he closes the door to his car and tries to start the ignition again. Finding it not working, he utters a curse and reaches over to the door of his glovebox.

Punisher has posed:
Perfect.

Instead of intercepting the man, the Punisher changes course... and forces the Battle Van /right up against/ the driver side door, forcing it closed... and giving no room for Albert to climb out the windows on that side.

Stopping just so, the Battle Van is parked, and the Punisher tosses a smoke grenade out the window, right on top of the car.

By the time that glovebox is open, the entire car is enveloped in a fog...

The Punisher? He's coming out the back door of the Van, full bodysuit, skull vest, and trenchcoat coming out as he moves into position with a pistol with Mercy rounds and a Ka-Bar in his other hand idling against the pistol.

"Commencing neutralization." Frank informs Microchip over the commlink.

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Albert's reach for the glovebox is slightly delayed as the van's brushing up against the driver's side door jostles the bar man. "Fuck." Rossen is not quite a poet, but he definitely conveys his emotions in an effective manner as he finally gets the door open. He flops onto his back across the bench seat, Looking up to the blocked window with the gun being pointed.

There's a momentary glimpse of the van through the window before the fog covers it up.

Getting enough of a sense of what's going on, the man's features darken. Biting his lip to cut back on the breathing sounds, Albert listens closely. Hearing the sound of the door He points his gun that way, pulling the trigger.

And just to be sure, he shoots again, just one a bit over.

Punisher has posed:
Unfortunately, the bullet just bounces off the armored section of the door, an audible *POP* can be heard as the rebound sends dirt flying.

"Got some fight in you. Guess HYDRA plants get some awareness training. Good." Punisher flatly tells Albert.

This isn't a covert attack, so anything to throw off his game is a good idea. "Don't suppose you wanna come quietly?"

Worth a shot, though the Punisher means it a bit mockingly.

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Albert's lip is bleeding as he quietly shifts, managing to pull an extra clip out of the glove box, resting it on his stomach. He doesn't respond to Frank's taunts, instead following the voice that is calling out to him. Feet pressing against the seat, he uses the surface to turn himself around as he pops off two more shots, grouping them within a few spaces of each other.

Punisher has posed:
Looks like he's gonna make this a shootout if it goes on.

That means police and nosy neighbors. Annoyances he'd rather not deal with.

Time to get the initiative firmly in his court.

Taking a beretta put of his gear web with normal ammo, Punisher blindfires to the side a bit to shoot out the front window, holsters it again, and pulls out a grenade... calculating the angle from memory.

With a small, deft motion, a gas grenade is thrown right into the front cabin. "Nighty night..."

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Not hearing the thump of a body outside, Albert orients himself, keeping low and out of the line of sight of the windows but considering his options. With the beretta shooting out the window, Albert has to pull up his free hand to guard his face from the falling glass. The arm swipes away after the shower of glass and the man grimaces, readying the gun once more.

And then that goddamn gas grenade gets thrown in.

These are the seconds that matter. And as the writing starts to be read, Albert lets out another curse. Finger tightening on the trigger.

"HAIL HYDRA!"

There's the sound of another shot going off. But not a second.

Punisher has posed:
Shit. Well, at least he knows now these people are trained to avoid capture.

"Target just suicided. We can add that to the profile." Punisher grates out to Microchip, "I don't see anyway to avoid making the rest of them go to ground from this. We can't afford to wait for the next one. Find me a new target before they all get the hunker down order."

As he speaks, he's checking the car, body, and the car frame for anything useful.

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Oh yes the loot drop. And what a haul Punisher comes across. On the body he finds Sig Sauer P226 with additional magazine. With only 5 rounds missing. Three if you factor in the ones currently imbedded into the battlevan.

He also finds a rather crappy car that's going to need a bit of recleaning if he wants to take that.

Punisher has posed:
He only has minutes to work on the house, so best to get this done quickly.

There's no hiding that bullet entry, even if he stuck the body into the car while he set it on fire. Taking the body would be too much time for too little gain though... and who knows, maybe the locals are amateurs.

Setting the body in the driver seat, Punisher takes the sig, puts it in a utility pouch after ejecting the magazine and hitting the safety... and dumps a timed lighter into the gas tank.

He has a minute to get the Battle Van away from the car, and he does so, bringing it to the back of the house to start searching.

"I'm burning the body. Bringing it back is pointless."

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Despite the run down nature of the building, the house is pretty light on the furnishings. The pantry and fridge are pretty stocked. Nothing that merits a lot of cooking. There's also a microwave. FANCY.

There's a sofa, a tv. If there's anything in the house of note it's not in plain sight.

The device in the tank goes off. With the fuel source nearby and just the right amount of air mixture in the container, the car starts getting toasty.

A bit of a tear down does find a few things. A hollow space in the underside of the sink gets him something lined in black plastic, but there's no telling what it is from a quick glance. A feel of the shifting shaped object indicates it might be two or three items. Another cubby hole found in the bedroom closet reveals yet another gun and a key to a basic lock one might get from the store. Something that could probably be circumvented with bolt cutters probably. As for the one under the floorboard?

Well.

That wire attached to the board seems suspect.

Run.

Punisher has posed:
.... shit.

"RESCUEDRONENOW!" Punisher manages to get out as he makes a mad dash for the nearest window to dive through it.

It's anyones guess if he manages to escape the explosion... but at least Microchip heard his distress call.

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
So. Let us recap what has happened. Albert Rossen came home from his job at the bar where his car got disabled. He was pinned in his car leaving him to resort to fighting back by shooting blindly outside before ultimately checking out.

If that wasn't enough, the car that is currently having a Rossen bbq and the house exploding has made for much noise.

No one's sleeping through this.

Now, how long Frank was on the ground after landing on it is up in the air. Adrennaline, explosions, and general chaos does mess with the sense of time. Nor does it give much of a moment to look to a watch.

But what Frank does see when he starts to get up is the butt of a rifle as it goes across his face and the glimmer of blue and red lights flashing in the distance.

One thing is certain.

The neighbors aren't pleased.
