Cast of Characters: Green Lantern (Stewart), Captain Marvel (Danvers)

Green Lantern (Stewart) has posed:
The war with a Brood Hivefleet coming into Shi'ar space has been ongoing for weeks now. At least one planet has been glassed int ooblivion and another is quickly getting to the point that it'll need to be cleansed too. It's hardly a galactic war... but the Brood are not known for discriminating who they infect.

Unfortunately, the Imperium is a prideful lot, and have declined Green Lantern Corps assistance, saying they can handle their own affairs. It's a decision that keeps John from directly interfering with the war for now... though it'll probably be soon that the war spills out of the Raken system.

Regardless, most of the major powers bordering Shi'ar space have their own defenses on high alert. The Novas Listening outpost Orion is one such place. With a small Nova Corps fleet to defend against potential raids, John starts flying back from the border itself to the listening post to head back inside to recharge, a bright green trail following him as he goes.

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
For Carol Danvers, her duties as Director for Alpha Flight on Earth had been reasonably quiet for some time. When news of the Brood incursion arrived, she knew that it would only be a matter of time before it would be more wide spread. Rather than waiting and seeing how the situation developed, she chose to get first hand information.

Leaving Earth, Captain Marvel couldn't help but smile. The golden glow of her own energies trailing behind her as she savored the freedom that space travel allowed. There were no aircraft, precious few spacecraft at least in the vicinity of Earth by comparison to other regions of space, and there was no need to hold back as when flying within the Earth's atmosphere.
Hers white hot flare of energy lit up space for a moment before she was rapidly accelerating and making her way out toward deep space, heading for the borders that had as yet to be over run by the Brood. It wouldn't hurt to get their status and readiness should the worst happen.

Some time later another flare announced Captain Marvel's arrival as she came to a stop, looking over the area around her. Seeing the listening post not so far off by galactic terms, she accelerated again and made her approach.

"Listening Post Orion, this is Captain Marvel of Earth. Requesting permission to come aboard."

Green Lantern (Stewart) has posed:
"Granted. Keep your hands to yourself, I think the Terran phrase is."

On board, John is already in central monitoring, sitting on a chair in his Green Lantern uniform as he stares at a screen of two fleets duking it out.

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
A smirk crosses her lips, "You boys know how to take the fun out of everything, don'cha?"

After flying into the post's hangar, Captain Marvel dropped to the decking easily. As she did, the mask for her armor phased away. A quick glance around, to confirm which corridor to take, and she made her way toward the central monitoring station. Her blue eyes flickered around the room, taking notice of the others present.

Walking over to where the Green Lantern member sat she slowed, offering a nod. "Hello." But her gaze moved to the same screen and the battle it was showing.

Green Lantern (Stewart) has posed:
Well, that's new.

Green glowing eyes glance down from the screen to look at Captain Marvel, and he frowns just a bit as he watches her briefly, "Captain Marvel of the Avengers on Earth?" John asks in confirmation.

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
Captain Marvel offered a slight smile and a nod, "Director of Alpha Flight primarily these days but also part of the Avengers. When needed. This seemed more important than waiting standby. I have to admit I wasn't expecting any of the Lantern Corp this far out. But I guess this incursion is making everyone a bit twitchy, mmm?"

Green Lantern (Stewart) has posed:
As Carol introduces herself, John gives a nod, then he visibly gives her a once over, before he looks back to the screens, "The Shi'ar refuse Corps help with the invasion officially, and I'm waiting for the Brood to push out of Shi'ar space to intervene... or at least for their invasion to push further in so I can help with the flank." He shrugs then, "patience is something you learn in the marines, but always nice to be able to wait it out with a beautiful woman."

He glances to Carol, then gestures with his head to a chair near to him, "If you'd like company, I'd be glad for it."

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
Carol Danvers returns the gaze briefly then looks toward the displays. "Waiting has never been a strong suit when it comes to war. It's the Fighter Pilot in me. Go chase them down before they get close enough to do damage. Doesn't work as well when it isn't our war." Yet. She shrugs and moves to drop into a chair not far from John.

"Any indications why they're choosing now?"

Green Lantern (Stewart) has posed:
"Nope. They're a hivemind, I'd have to go find a queen and a telepath to find out why they're doing anything." He gestures to a specific part of the monitor then, "Raken 4, for example. They did their usual overwhelm and eat all the sentient bodies they could. The Shi'ar nuked the planet to slow them down, but you can say they're building a dome for a military base by their ships. They're setting up forward operations."

John looks to Carol, "It isn't a raid. They're taking territory."

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
Carol Danvers watches the displays as John elaborates. "If it isn't a raid, there's intent behind the expansion. But if aid isn't requested as yet, then sitting and watching. Try to infer their next targets is about all there is to do." She moves to stand, glancing around the room. "That calls for snacks. This outpost have a galley? Or it is strictly bring your own lunch box?" she asks with a bit of a smirk.

Green Lantern (Stewart) has posed:
"I brought along my own, if you're looking for some. They don't really keep human edible stuff here." John glances to the others in the room, "At least that I've heard."

He looks to Carol, taking out a pretzel of all things, "Pretzel? I'd also love to get some snacks on Earth sometime with you, if you're looking."

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
Carol Danvers says, "Figures. We're good enough to pull monitor duty just not to feed" she jokes. Dropping back into the chair she shrugs "Pretzels work. Thanks. I'll plan better next time." Taking a few of the offered snacks she pauses to glance back at him with a light laugh "Easy there, tiger. There's almost a war going on out here, right? But maybe a coffee sometime when we're both planet-side, sure.""

Green Lantern (Stewart) has posed:
"Sure, but there's nothing we can do about that war until they've pushed further out. At least for me. That way I can officially say I haven't intervened in a Shi'ar conflict." John points out, as she takes the pretzel, then, he smirks. He's charming when he wants to be. "Take the opportunities where you can get them. If we wait until things are 'just right' things will never happen."
