Lady's full of Ravens.
Date of Scene: 06 April 2022
Location: The Blue Lady, Fort Joseph
Synopsis: Raven, Gambit, and a Kindergartener play some card. Know when to walk away. Know when to run.
Cast of Characters: Gambit, Raven

Gambit has posed:
The Blue Lady is normally a busy place, full of loud music and dancing that is almost sexual in nature despite, or perhaps because of it's prohibition theming. But today is different. Tonight the doors are closed to all but a select group of VIP's playing for the NYC Children's Burn Unit. The $500 buy in, the top prizes aren't even half of the total pot... but burned kids ...who could say no.

Raven has posed:
Crowds aren't usually Raven's scene unless she has no choice - like attending her classes at the local Community College. More people means more emotions means more risk and it's all just a lot of things that the young woman can't or doesn't want to be bothered with. Yet, how can she say no to burned kids? It would be a good distraction, and exercise on maintaining her 'poker face'.

She goes through the necessary rigamaroll, being good and not even phasing through the doors to skip it all. Entering in to the main area, Rachel skims the room to see who all is present as she makes her way to the table. She is probably underdressed in a pair of dark jeans with an oversized grey hoodie covering her top half. At least the hood is down so her face isn't obscured.

Gambit has posed:
Which ironically isn't the strangest outfit by a long measure. Tables are randomly assigned, and she is seated next to Remy who is wearing a pair of dark sunglasses... and a seven year old with white hair and who needs a boaster seat...and has a very serious expression on her young face. The Cajun actually smiles, standing to pull out her seat for her as the dealer shuffles the deck. "Nice ta see a new face." he says with a grin, then leans over adding "Watch dat one, she looks like a 'ustler ta me.

Raven has posed:
Raven's expression is neutral even as Remy pulls the seat out for her, but a nod of thanks is given as she settles in to the seat. "Thank you. I was somewhat surprised to get the invite." She admits, glancing towards the kid with white hair and then back to Remy. "I think you are right." Her voice is low to match his with the talk of their fellow player. Then it rises to a normal level as she watches the dealer shuffle. "Do you play these sort of events often?"

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau grins slightly and shrugs as the dealler starts passing out cards, laying out the hole cards for each player. "Ah mean Ah try to, whenevah Ah can get out foh it. And come on, Burned kids. How yah supposed ta say no ta dat?" Remy glances at his cards then tosses a few chips into the pot.

Raven has posed:
"Exactly. You can't say no to it. That is how they get you." Rachel agreed, lifting her cards to glance at them before laying them flat on the table. "I am not a frequent player, but I like poker. It is a good thought exercise for me. Blackjack too." There's a beat of pause and she adds, "I am Rachel, by the way."

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau grins a little bit. "Well Black jack is all about playin' de odds, Poker all about playing de man." The girl with the white hair makes a pouty face and throws her cards to the center, crossing her arms to get out of the hand. "Remy. Pleasure ta meet yah Rachael." He says with a slight grin.

Raven has posed:
"Nice to meet you as well Remy." Raven taps the table to call the buy in for the round. Unlike the white haired girl, she seems to think her hand is worth at least seeing the flop over. "What's the most you've ever won off of a poker game, Remy?"

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau shrugs slightly, considering "An island... Ah mean it wasn' a big island but Ah'd say dat was de most." He says with a slight grin. "Managed ta fill in a busted straight. Shoulda seen dat guys face." He says leaning back in his chair as the dealer lays out the flop. Remy gets in the action and smiles"How 'bout yahself. Yah look like yah made some boys cry in yah time.

Raven has posed:
"An island?" Rachel blinked once, looking towards Remy a moment and then looking towards the flop. There's another glance at her cards. One of the others at the tables bets. Raven debates a moment but calls the bet when her turn comes up. "Nothing so big as an island." Is the answer to how much she's one, still in that majority neutral tone. There is just a hint of inflection, construing it more as a joke. "A few hundred at most I believe. I don't play much, and when I do, it is often just for...fun. You aren't wrong though, there have been some I've played who were not too happy with my winning."

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau grins slightly and shrugs. "Poker one of de last games dat boys still t'ink dey own." He says amused. He doesn't look at his own cards, just matching the bet. "Don't get me wrong, dey love it when de girl's /play/ dey just not want dem ta actually win." He says with a grin, signaling to one of the scantally clad Cigar girls before purchaseing one and ordering a bottle of champagne. "Course luck go de ot'er way too sometimes. Once was sittin' on an Ace Queen. Got Queen, queen, ace on de flop... Guy across from me holding pocket Aces.

Raven has posed:
"Sometimes I like to watch the televised poker games. It's interesting to see the gameplay when you, the viewer, know all the cards." And sometimes she internally rages at the people who make bad bets. "Most men are imbeciles, but just as many women are crazy so it all evens out, hm?" She relaxes back in her chair, gaze going to the cards in the middle as she prepares for the next card to be flipped. "Ouch." Is her response to his story about luck. "That is an unfortuante turn of events."

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau chuckles. "Somet'ing like dat 'appens, yah can' even really be mad. Yah just gotta go wit' it." He says amused as the turn is flipped and Remy raises the bet. "But de trick is ta know dat Luck is a lady. Sometimes yah gotta treat 'er nice...sometimes yah gotta pull 'er 'air."

Raven has posed:
Raven's brow raised at that analogy and she makes a thoughtful noise. Maybe she's filing that one away for later. Remy raises, she opts to fold. She isn't really here to win, and she's pretty sure with that turn there's no way she's going to get lucky on the river. "It sounds like you have a finnicky relationship with Lady Luck?"

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau grins slightly, "If dare is one t'ing Ah've learned in dis life chere?" He says as the River is played. "Yah c'n only play de cards yah dealt." Remy goes all in, forcing the remaining player out as well before revealing pocket 7's... to go with the 7 on the flop and River.

Raven has posed:
"That is very good advice, Remy." Raven catalogued that for later too, tossing her cards face down towards the middle as the round ended. "Good hand. I was one card off a straight." She looked around a moment, spying the Cigar Girl coming back with Remy's champagne bottle and politely asked for a soda. While the dealer shuffled for a new hand, Raven looks back towards Remy. "Do you play professionally?"

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau shakes his head slightly, "Nah, don' 'ave de paitence or mentality foh it." To which the little girl adds "He doesn' like ta /not/ bet." And the Cajun shrugs acknowledging the point, though adding "Yah can' win if yah don' play." And then the next hand of cards is dealt out and the game continues. The Cigar girl returning a few moments later with their drinks. "So what about yah Rachael? What yah line of work?"

Raven has posed:
Rachel looked towards the white haired girl, a hint of amusement touching her features and then fading away just as quickly. "Sometimes not playing is better on the wallet at least." Lucky for Rachel that she hasn't yet developed a gambling addiction. "Me? College student. I am taking some courses...still finalizing my decisions for a major." One shoulder is shrugged. "You? If you do not play professional cards."

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau shrugs a bit, "Master t'ief, occasional adventurer, and French Teacher." He says with mild amusement in his eyes, and getting an eyeroll from the little girl. The Child apparently likes her start this time and joins in, sipping her chocolate milk from a bendy straw.

Raven has posed:
"How exciting." Raven says eyeing her hand. "French could be useful to learn." Of course she focuses on that first. "What kind adventurs have you gone on?" She decides to stay in this round, raising the call amount by half. Testing the waters with the rest of the table.

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau shrugs a little bit. "Oh yah know, visiting strange lands, meeting strange people. Fought a Dinosaur once, dat was fun." He says sipping his drink and tossing his chips in, reraising her as if in challange. Hadiyah, the white haired girl, sighs and bets as well. "Hate goin' ta space dough. Doesn't sit well wit' mah stomach."

Raven has posed:
"Space isn't so bad, I have been a time or two myself." Rachel eyed the reraise, eyed Remy, and then called it. "The only time I have fought a dinosaur is when one of my...friends..." The word feels weird to use, "Turned into one for sparring practice. I haven't ever seen a real one though. Not sure I would want to."

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau shrugs "Dis one was a clone. Also it 'ad lazer cannons mouted ta it's 'ead. Dat wasn't fun." He says amused, Hady just sighs and rolls her eyes, obviously thinking the grown ups are fibbing. She checks as the Turn comes, as doews Remy...

Raven has posed:
"...." Raven glances between Remy and Hady. It almost might be like she thinks Remy's fibbing too. Almost. She knows nothing is impossible. "That is one dinosaur I would very much not want to run into." She decides, watching the turn and when it's revealed? She'll raise the pot. Clearly she thinks she's got a good thing going this round.
