Out In The Cold
Date of Scene: 07 April 2022
Location: Forest Hills, Queens
Synopsis: Kara accidentally catnaps Ivory! It's cool, though. They're friends now.
Cast of Characters: Supergirl, Ivory

Supergirl has posed:
The rain crashes down in Queens, and Kara sighs softly to herself. The spring rain fills the gutters and is the kind of cold rain that chills to the bone. Well, not for her, but for most. The blonde is standing under the awning of a cafe, brushing wet hair from her bright blue eyes. She cleans her glasses and slips them back on, chuckling to herself. The young woman, barely in her twenties, is dressed in a pair of skinny jeans, cute athletic shoes, and a windbreaker over a faded RIVERDALE HIGH shirt.

The street is pretty empty this late at night, and Kara is starting to consider NOT waiting for her uber, and just taking off if nobody is looking. She chews her soft lip and glances up and down the street.

Ivory has posed:
The afternoon and evening had been somewhat dry, drawing people out of the home after the week of rainfall, but as the night came, so came the rain back. Some people were trapped in cafees and bars and endured, hoping for the downpour to end, but instead it got worse. And then came the closing hours, pushing the people to taxis and ubers to leave home if they wanted to stay dry. Others fought their way through the rain.

As the hours went on, the streets are now pretty empty. For a few minutes, the downpour seems to lessen, and an already drenched cat darts from an overhang that offered some protection to a tree. The white fur looked almost grey and hung all down in rain, but at least it seemed to still provide some warmth for the feline.

Supergirl has posed:
A normal person might miss the flash of white that belonged to the darting cat, but Kara is hardly a normal person. She blinks and glances over, using her X-Ray vision to look directly through the foliage. Upon seeing the cat, she bites her lip.

"Oh, baby, you shouldn't be out here in the cold..."

The girl steps out from under her own awning and braves the lessened downpour to head towards the tree and bush. She leans in a bit, making little comforting, cooing sounds. "Hey, kitty? Kitty, it's okay. Come on. Let's get you out of the rain, okay? You must be freezing..."

Ivory has posed:
The cat turns the head at the noise, the drenched ears flicking some. There's some kind of collar around the neck, but no tag. The cat tilts the head some moments. But it doesn't retreat, instead taking a few steps to the cover of the tree and at the way into the direction of the blonde. The eyes wander her over twice, then the head moves back straight.

Supergirl has posed:
She crouches beside the cat and stretches a hand out to offer a sniff for comfort. She smells good. Very light perfume akin to honeysuckle, and some normal, sport deoderant under that.

"Hey, sweetie. I'm Kara. Okay...so you have a collar but no tag...I wonder if you're chipped..."

The young woman reaches out, trying to gently pick up the poor, wet kitty if she can.

Ivory has posed:
The cat, despite being all drenched, manages to get the typical glare of a cat that waits for something as the hand is offered. The constant rain does muffle smells, but before the hand comes into contact to pick it up, the persian shakes itself. Quite some of the water gets sprayed all over, but then it even moves to the hand reaching for it.

The mention of a chip makes the ears flick a moment, as if it understands. Though the eyes of the kryptonian wouldn't pick any such item up inside the body. Nor a tattoo hidden under the fur. Just that strange collar.

Supergirl has posed:
She gently scoops the cat up, only grinning a bit when it shakes and hits her with some sprayed water. "Alright, I don't live around here. But we need to get indoors, don't we? So...I'm gonna get us back to my place." Kara glances up and down the street before she backs up, carrying the wet ball of fur. She slips into the mouth of a nearby alleyway and gently sets Ivory down on the ground only for a moment. She puts her finger to her lips and winks, as if to say 'sssssh, keep a secret.' She fully believes the cat is...just a cat. Why be secretive with a cat? She suddenly twirls, and there is a brief, whirlwind-like blue. When she settles again...she is Supergirl. Red boots, red skirt, blue top, red cape. Supergirl. "Okay..." She leans down to scoop it up again.

Ivory has posed:
Scooped up, the somewhat self-dried cat takes some shelter against the body as it is carried, even if the rain does its best to prevent that process from staying. At the set down, the head turns, back to the twirling woman, the ears flicking twice. And then checking the hand again before letting itself be scooped up a second time, the wet feline snuggling a little against the body. No complaits it seems.

Supergirl has posed:
Once she's sure the cat is safe in her arms, she takes off. She knows how to shield a passenger from the effects of her speed, but she also knows she can't do her usual trajectory to get home. Why? Because cats can't survive in space. So, she sticks to the clouds and a safe, but incredibly quick speed. The wind whips about them and she smiles, holding the white cat carefully against her, shielded and safe.

It's about a twenty minute flight instead of seconds, but in the end she floats down and lands inside her bedroom in Riverdale, slipping through the open window. She gently sets the cat down on her bed and flashes a grin. Her bedroom is a pretty typical one...except for all of the crystals and posters about space and the solar system.

Ivory has posed:
There's one good thing about long fur and fast velocities: it dries, then floofs up, even if the air is cold. Which in turn leaves Kara with a rather fuffy, and after dyring even somewhat warm cat that snuggles in closer against the body to try to leech some heat against the jetstream.

Sat down on the bed, the cat shakes itself twice, sorting the hair some, before eying the Supergirl with its blue eyes. One blink, two blinks, then a little yawn as the head tilts and the cat settles down. Turning to the side, the cat stretches once, then gets up again, moving to the edge of the bed and settles down there again, facing and eying the Kryptonian blonde.

Supergirl has posed:
She grins softly as she watches the cat, and she kneels beside the bed. She reaches out to give her more scritches and pets. "Well, I'm Kara. It's nice to meet you, cutie. Do I need to come up with a name for you?," she wonders. "Normally my parents are...well, the Danvers...kinda my parents...are around, but they're at a convention in Fawcett right now. So, it'

Supergirl has posed:
's just me right now. But they won't care about a new pet..."

Ivory has posed:
New Pet? The cat yawns once, then chws the air twice. A moment later, the head tilts and they offer a paw to the taller blonde as if an invitation. Then, the head turns a little to eye over the posters and crystals. And then... the cat speaks. Yes. With a high pitch from tiny vocal cords, but human speech. "So, this is your home? Cozy. Quite a bit away from New York."

Supergirl has posed:
Okay, she didn't expect that. She lets out an actual eep and slaps her hands over her mouth, staring down at the cat for a moment. She then reaches down to take the paw, shaking it like a hand. "Uh. So...I thought you were a normal cat. Not that you're...abnormal? Ugh, stupid mouth. I mean...hi. Yeah. We're in Riverdale. Canada. I was down in New York for a school thing. I was writing a paper on something going on in Queens..."

Ivory has posed:
The little face has some kind of expression, but cat mime is a language onto itself it seems. Not really letting go of the hand - if you can say so, as the paw stays extended but without claws - come some answers from the cat. "Canada? that explains the air out there being so cold. Well, Abnormal sounds bad. Magical maybe?"

Which is pretty much the moment the sparkling and poof from the Kara Danvers turning Supergirl some minutes earlier and hundreds of miles further south repeats, but this time around the cat. Like it's turning mist and the paw turning intangible between the fingers of the Kryptonian, before extending and growing, suddenly fingers closing around the hand instead of a paw resting in it. And the cat having turned into a full blown person, sitting there in a somewhat baggy pullover and jeans, white hair tied into a ponytail, a smile on the lips. And a jacket with the very same cat that sat on the bed moments earlier. "If I may introduce myself, Ivory Valentines. Part time cat. And you are... Kara, working as Supergirl, and living at the Danvers', right?"

Supergirl has posed:
She jumps in surprise and her jaw drops. "Oh, whoa. You're a person." She reaches out to shake that hand, more then a little surprised, still. She catches up fast, though. "Ivory. C-cool name. Yeah. Um...I'm Kara. Please don't tell anyone? I'm normally really good at keeping my secret identity. I...y'know...thought you were a non-magical cat..."

Her bright blue eyes dip, curiously taking this person in.

Ivory has posed:
"Hey, I don't tell that you're Supergirl, you don't tell people that I am a cat on some days and that my mascot really is me and we are even." Ivory replies, smiling as they get up from the sitting position on the bed, joining Kara in the tanding. "And most people would assume so. In fact... I guess that I can talk as a cat is known by about... three people, two of them my parents?" A little laugh slips from their throat. What gender do they have? Hard to tell, the voice much lower than the cat's tune, and quite in the uncanny valley between male and female, as is the figure. A slender tomboy? A narrow sissy? Neither? Both?

Supergirl has posed:
She grins softly. "Alright, deal. We'll keep eachothers scandalous secrets." She laughs and watches the person curiously for a few moments before she clears her throat. "I'm -guessing- you're not too interested in being my pet, then," Kara says with a laugh, shaking her head at herself.

Ivory has posed:
"Pet? Uh... well..." There seems to be some thought running through the head of Ivory as they ponder the next words carefully, eyes carefully on Kara's as the sentence continues. "I'm not really into staying at home all day and waiting for somene to come home and entertain and feed me and all. I'm a self-made cat with a little brand of clothes for people that either love cat T-shirts or who like to have people focus on their person rather than their gender. Sure, I do enjoy lazy days here and there and pet names, but I guess being someone's *pet* would cross a line somewhere. Probably even for you, hmm?"

Supergirl has posed:
"Oh, right. Yeah, that makes total sense. No, that'd be weird." She clears her throat and then sits down on the edge of the bed, looking up at Ivory.

"A designer, huh? That's really cool. One of my friends, Veronica, is really into fashion. So...you want me to fly you home, then?"

Ivory has posed:
Ivory says, "Through that rain? I am lucky I am almost dry so far... I mean... if you don't mind, I'd take a ride to some motel or something and take a bus home tomorrow. Would get me a chance to try and do a few sketches on the way, but out there is a murderous rain." Ivory replies, offering an appologetic smile. "I bet in better weather it would be a wonderful flight, but please not in that weather.""

Supergirl has posed:
"Hey, no reason to apologise. I'll sleep on the floor and you can have my bed. I'll fly you back when the weather clears up. It's fine, really." She flashes a smile and heads out into the hallway, returning with some blankets and pillows, and she tosses them onto the floor. "I never really got to have one of those teen sleepovers human girl's are supposed to have, so this should be fun!"
