Monitor Duty and cookies
Date of Scene: 13 May 2022
Location: Monitor Room, Watchtower
Synopsis: Milk and Cookies and coffee were had while watching out for trouble spots!
Cast of Characters: Wonder Woman, Flash, Batman, Supergirl

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana Prince had volunteered to take the evening monitor duties to fill a rotational gap created by several emergenies needing singular skill sets. Other than those events, it had not turned into a chaotic shift. Yet.

It was made a bit easier by the fact she had a plastic container of chocolate chip cookies. Nearby was a tall glass of milk. Her eyes never left the scrolling alert feed on the primary monitor even as she took a cookie and the glass. Dunking the edge of the cookie into the milk briefly before nibbling on it.

Flash has posed:
What was The Flash doing? Well, what was Barry always doing? Being of service, of course. Loose papers and such kick up and flutter about as The Fastest Man Alive materializes next to her, holding a cup of coffee out in offer. "Figure it might help keep you up. Better than the milk and cookies, I mean," he explains, his lips twisting into a smile within his cowl.

"Any action?" he asks, blue eyes flickering as they bounce from monitor to monitor in an instant. He lifts the cup he procured for himself to his lips and takes a long sip before his eyes return to her.

Batman has posed:
A Bat looks.

It wasn't his turn for monitor duty. Even if it was, his business in Gotham often causes him to need to be skipped and his time made up elsewhere. Today was no such day but he is here to monitor the monitor.

Batman appears in all of his caped, brooding glory. Drying rain water on his armor suggests he came straight from Gotham. His lips pressed into a thin lined expression. He looks ever forward. Ever serious.

"Flash. Wonder Woman."

Supergirl has posed:
And Supergirl! Is what Batman would have said, were Kara Zor-El punctual. Alas, the Girl of Steel had elected to attempt traveling as Kara Danvers instead of Supergirl, which meant the squaring off against the most treacherous foe of all: public transportation.

"I'mmmm so late," she says, pushing the door open to the monitor room with a heavy click just in time to feel Barry Allen -wooooosh- past her to offer up a cup of coffee to Diana. There's a moment or two where she strongly considers plucking the cup from Barry's fingertips, but instead she elects to simply set her bottom down on a chair a few empty spaces away from Wonder Woman and peer Bruce-ward. Her own expression is ever the opposite. Those lips always seem to be tugging up into a smile. As if she's in on one big cosmic joke.

"I want a coffee," she says at last. Beat. Big blue eyes turn to Barry now and her head tips in an inquisitive 'please?'.

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana Prince looked to Barry curiously. "But I have cookies. And milk." As if it needed not other explanation. It isn't coffee and milk. Unless it is as cream to be put into the coffee. Diana wasn't so fresh off The Island as to not know that common nuance of coffee and dairy products.

She smiled to Batman. Because she always tried to smile at him. One day she would get him to smile back. Tonight may not be that night. "Hello Bruce. It is good to see you. Is all okay?" she wondered.

"Ah. Kara. Welcome to you, too. I believe you may have the cup of coffee Barry was offering to me? I have milk." And cookies.

"Would any of you like a chocoate chip cookie?" She takes the container and offers it out, "Ferdinand baked them fresh for me before I came from the embassy for my shift here."

Flash has posed:
Barry's lips flatten at Bruce calling him his made-up name, and somehow flatten even more at Kara's request for coffee. Lightning crackles around him in that tell-tale way that reveals he's about to break into a sprint, but Diana's turning the offer down and the energy dissipates, the cup now held out to Kara instead. He sets his own down and reaches up to pull his cowl back, letting it hang on the back of his suit as he does his best to make his hair look some semblance of presentable.

"How's it going, Wayne?" he asks of the billionaire.

Batman has posed:
"Barry." Batman replies to The Flash. No other remarks are said to him. One for small talk, he is not. Maybe his question ties into Diana's, and he minimized his sentences. He's probably on site for a myriad of tasks and having light conversations is likely not among them.

"Fine." Batman replies to Diana. The arrival of Supergirl was hard to miss. Impossible, really. She gives him a bubbly smile and kind features. Batman stays on point. "Computer-" Batman addresses the Watchtower AI. "Show me sector 22." Blue holographic light appears in front of him, showing him the streets of Gotham where a being of clay starts molding around corners.

...followed by two men: one in a green suit, the other eearing a black and white suit with a line down the center of him. Batman narrows his eyes.

Supergirl has posed:
Kara reaches to take the offered cup of coffee and swings her right leg over her left. "Thank -yew-," she half-mouths-half-chirps. Kara carefully pries the lid off, watching with wide eyes as steam lifts off from the coffee's surface. Little beads of oils seem to dance with the motion of the steam and then scatter when she purses her lips to blow just a -touch- of chilly air to cool it down. She takes a sip and her eyes widen further, a soft 'mmmh!' of excitement muted by the hot liquid in her mouth. It's brought about by Diana's offer of chocolate chip cookies.

When has Kara ever said 'no' to that?

"I would love one," (two). She reaches out to take the first and then, after a moment of hesitation, grabs a second. She slowly bends it in half and lifts it to her lips to take a bite. "Mmmmmmm, deliciouth," she says, mouth full of cookie, "Fermifmamd mreally doth mathke the betht cookieth." Somewhere, her adoptive mother is screaming for her to chew with her mouth closed. She covers her lips at least, and then swallows.

Sector 22 is zoomed in on, focused, and enhanced. Kara follows the clay being and then lifts her eyes to a second monitor displaying the two men currently earning the dreaded bat-scowl. She puts the second half of that first cookie in her mouth all at once and chews it down. She lifts her thumb to crack the knuckles of her other fingers one by one.

Bad guys...

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana Prince offers the cookies around to all takers before setting the container back on the desk in easy reach of all.

She smiles, "Yes. He is an amazing cook. The most insightful and talented vegan cook I have ever met. I suppose it does go hand in hand with being a minotaur" she observes thoughtfully. She sips at her milk lightly while Batman brings up Gotham and the activity of three of its difficult villains. It is enough to tempt her to frown. But she doesn't. She has no doubt that Bruce has already routed his proteges to intercept them.

Since he is watching that area, she turns her gaze to the other displays to keep ahead of developing situations. A volcano has begun to emit micro quakes in Indonesia. It should be monitored closely in case it continues toward a possible eruption. A large typhoon in the Pacfic. It was not close to inhabited regions yet but some of the projected paths could bring it across the Philippines or as far north as the southern islands of Japan.

She watches the screens but is not one for sitting in silence. "How have you both been? It is nice to get to speak with you again. It has been some time."

Flash has posed:
"Busy. Very busy," Barry says, moving to sit down with the ladies and running a hand down his face. It's true that he doesn't look like he's slept in quite some time, but the League knows that Flash knows his limits. Most of the time.

"Hit a personal best for bank robberies stopped today," Barry explains, hands resting between his legs as he watches the monitors, a single foot tapping anxiously.

The screen he's watching closest is, of course, focused on Central City and all is quiet until it isn't. A storefront explodes and a big gorilla with a crown lurch-gallops its way out before beating his chest and roaring.

Barry cuts his eyes to Kara and hikes his brows in an invitation.

"Race you there?"

Supergirl has posed:
Kara's tracking all of it. The villains of gotham. The volcano in Indonesia. The storm on a potential collision course with Japan. Gonna need the whole cookie for that. She pops it into her mouth and slowly chews, grateful that Barry is speaking first. She reaches forward and dabs a few bits of crumbs she'd flung from the last time she'd complimented Ferdinand's cooking. She washes it down with a coffee and leans forward to rest her forearm on the table in front of her. "School has been -crrrrazy-. I used to ask myself, like, 'how much math can humans actually know', you know? Turns out they know a lot."

It's then that she sees Barry's eyes lift up, and she follows them to the monitor of Star City. Her head tips, and those lips curl up into a bit of a smile that show the faintest hint of perfectly straight, pearly white teeth.

Kryptonians.

"It's only fair if I give you a head start, Bar-bear."
