Date of Scene: 14 June 2022
Location: Central Park, Manhattan
Synopsis: Teddy goes for a run in the park and meets Ivory, learns about their clothing line, and inspires a lazy cat design.
Cast of Characters: Hulkling, Ivory

Hulkling has posed:
It's a beautiful sunny almost-summer day in the park which means there are plenty of people out and about walking, running, biking, and playing games as well as having picnics on the grass. Teddy, a bit sweaty from his own run, dressed in a pair of light grey joggers and a white tank top, pauses to pick up a couple of bottles of water from a nearby vendor. The first one is pretty much drained in one go. The second, he sips a little bit slower as he moves over to a shade tree to hang out there in the cool for a few minutes.

Ivory has posed:
The park has its share of odd people mulling around, including a couple of artists drawing things they see. One of those though is quite more on the odd side, wearing what appears to be a white cat hairband. Or are those real ears? because once in a while they do seem to flick as the pen stops once in a while and the eyes wander over the area.

Hulkling has posed:
Teddy does a little people watching from under his tree as he takes another swig of water and notices the figure with the white cat ears. He doesn't think much of it. People wear all kinds of unusual things. It's when it seems that one of the ears moves that he does a little bit of a double-take and takes a longer look, curiously waiting to see if they move again.

Ivory has posed:
As the pen on the page moves again, the left ear swivels to a different direction, where one of the mounted policemen is passing by the park, and indeed seems to follow the horse a few moments, then it jumps back forward.

Hulkling has posed:
Teddy grins a little crookedly. Those are either some really cool headphones or actual ears. Either way, he does seem to realize that he's just staring at this poor person and so his own ears turn a bit pink and he clears his throat, focusing on his water instead. He rubs his forehead with the back of his forearm, and then takes a look down the path as though considering continuing on his run.

Ivory has posed:
Ivory the flicking ears don't quite stop, but then the head turns. The hair, taken together in a ponytail, hints at the lack of ears where they'd be usually. Though then the pen of the artist lowers, the eyes wander the place again, halting at Teddy with his light flush. Are those eyes trying to read him?

Hulkling has posed:
Are they? If they do, they might catch the fact that he got caught staring and is embarrassed about having done it and is now trying to politely NOT do that. He finishes off his bottle of water and tosses it into the recycling container before stretching a little and beginning to head back onto the running path, coming out from the shade of the tree into the warmth of the light.

Ivory has posed:
The artist stops scribbling as Tommy starts to leave, and then the pen is tucked back into the pad as they get up. Somehow without taking those eyes off the guy starting to try and continue the run. "Hey... mind stopping a moment? You, with the green shirt and running shoes. Those are Adidas, right?"

Hulkling has posed:
Teddy looks down at his white tank top and generic running shoes that are not at all a name brand and then glances over his shoulder to see exactly who Ivory might be talking to. Looking a little confused, he just sort of stands there for a moment. Were they talking to him? He's not even sure. "Uh.. no.." he says, of his sneakers.

Ivory has posed:
Even if the colors were off, the footsteps move the whitehead towards Teddy, who has stopped. "Hey... Oh, yea sorry about the colors, those were off." There's the flick of the ear again. "Anyway, you were looking, weren't you? I mean, at me, right?"

Hulkling has posed:
Teddy's gaze flicks from the white hair to the ear again when it moves. But when he's called out he blushes again slightly, "Yeah, sorry. I didn't mean to stare. They're just cool." He gestures vaguely at the top of his head, indicating the ears. "Striking, you know? Didn't mean any offense."

Ivory has posed:
"Oh, no problem. You did spot the ear, right? It's rare that people notice. Like, who would in this town? Marks you as one of the observant types." Ivory chuckles as they take the moment to tuck the pad properly into a small backpack. "Ivory Valentine, and you?"

Hulkling has posed:
"People don't notice your ears? I mean, they're cool. Why wouldn't they?" That seems to surprise Teddy just a little bit. But when they introduce themselves he says, "Oh. Teddy Altman. Nice to meet you." He then nods toward the pad as it gets put away. "You're an artist?"

Ivory has posed:
Ivory says, "Oh, they don't because they don't want to. And I don't always wear them." Ivory remarks, chuckling as they brush through the hair in such a way that indicates that really, there are no other ears at the moment. "Nice to meet you too. Altman, Altman... wasn't that also the name of this famous... lawyer or something? I think I read that name years ago, but might not be one of your kin. Well, Artist is too much, I am a designer. Like, Clothes. White Persian Cat. Just my tiny label, but hey, it pays my bills.""

Hulkling has posed:
Teddy says, "Oh," both to the fact that people might not want to notice and that they don't always wear them. As for the lawyer, he just shakes his head a little bit. "I don't know. It was mostly just me and my mom growing up. I don't know any other Altmans that are related to me." But then they mention their clothing label and he says, "Oh hey, that's really cool. What kind of stuff do you design? Is it like fancy high fashion stuff?"

Ivory has posed:
Ivory says, "Nah, street stuff for nieche people... and apparently cat lovers. I mean, sure, I have a lot jackets and shirt with cat designs, but my mainstay is straddling the gender devide. Totally artificial to have so different sizing and style for the genders.""

Hulkling has posed:
"Oh, that's pretty cool," Teddy says with an enthusiastic nod. "People should all be able to find clothes that they like and feel comfortable in." He is very.. cheap jock chic with his very much non-designer clothes that were definitely bought off the rack at Target or somewhere cheap. But that doesn't mean he can't appreciate things for others.

Ivory has posed:
Ivory nods, brushing the hair back in a nervous gesture of sorts. "Ah, well, anyway. You got an eye of sorts. To spy it when I have them out? not the easiest task in this town. Like, people don't want to see the extraordinary. Might be because of the many things happening in town and how dangerous it can be.

Hulkling has posed:
"I mean, we live in a world where there are all kinds of people and superheroes and villains and craziness going on all the time," Teddy says with a shrug of his shoulders. "You have to be kind of particularly oblivious or purposefully putting your head in the sand not to accept that there's stuff out there that isn't the standard."

Ivory has posed:
"TRue, but you only have to ignore the tiny signs to be able to just pretend that everything is normal. Cat ears? Easy to ignore. M Bison attacking your hometown? Oh, you forgot to take tjhe train to visit grandma! Better call a taxi! Giant green guys throwing trucks? Just run and pretend it's tuesday and you're in a hurry."

Hulkling has posed:
Teddy squints a little bit. He's not entirely sure he agrees with that but it's neither here nor there. He gives a little shrug of his shoulders and asks, "So what do you come out here to draw? Ideas for your designs or just people in the park?"

Ivory has posed:
Shrugging a little, they finally nod. "Partly the former, but I was wondering... if you would be a cat, what kind would describe you best? I mean, besides being observant."

Hulkling has posed:
"What kind of cat?" Teddy looks a little thoughtful about that. He'd never considered himself cat-like but what sort of cat would he be if he were one. "I guess the sort that likes to lie around in a sunbeam where it's warm. A big orange tabby cat."

Ivory has posed:
Ivory nods slowly, brushing along their chin. "Hmmmm, the lazy chubby variant? Nah, that would not match you at all. More likely... lean, having caught a mouse but too nice to kill it and so just cuddle with it as they nap, but keeping the tail of the of it between the sleepy teeth?"

Hulkling has posed:
Teddy's brow furrows a little at that mental image and then shrugs his shoulders and says, "Yeah, I probably wouldn't kill a mouse. But if I wasn't gonna kill it I wouldn't hold onto its tail either. I'd probably just let it hang out or go depending on what it wanted to do."

Ivory has posed:
Ivory snickers a moment, then nods, grinning wide. "So, a little softy tabby, curled up, and a little mousy hanging out on their sleeping body, maybe using them like a couch? That something you could find yourself in?"

Hulkling has posed:
"I suppose? I guess.." Teddy says, finding this whole conversation a little bit weird. "Why?" He glances around idly at the people coming and going about their business, riding by on bikes and jogging past. Then his attention settles on Ivory again.

Ivory has posed:
Ivory shrugs, pulling out the pad and pen again, the two joining for moments as they draw, scribble and work on something, which starts to become exactly what they had described: a tabby sleeping, a mouse resting on their side and munching pizza. "Oh, just had an idea, wanted to get it onto the pad..."

Hulkling has posed:
When Ivory pulls out the pad and starts drawing he leans over a little to look and see what it is that is taking shape. As the cat begins to take form with the little mouse on it, he seems to get the idea and grins a little crookedly. "You're really good," he comments, on the image as it takes shape. "It's cute."

Ivory has posed:
"It's what makes the sales. Cute kittens doing kitten stuff on shirts." Ivory explains, totally working on giving the little doodle as serene a pose as they can. "I mean, would you wear it?"

Hulkling has posed:
"Cute kittens on shirts isn't really my usual style, no," Teddy admits, if one could call what he wears a 'style' to begin with. "But that doesn't mean other people won't like it. Lots of people like cute kittens on their clothes." Hence why they sell so well.
