Guess What I Did, Brainy
Date of Scene: 13 July 2017
Location: Legion Cruiser, Outer Space
Synopsis: Luorno tells Brainiac 5 about the plan to fight Micro Lad with The Wasp.
Cast of Characters: Brainiac 5, Triplicate Girl

Brainiac 5 has posed:
Brainy is currently in the lab. He's constructing the micro-cell to contain the caught Micro-Lad, complete with a micro-replicator that will provide food and drink, and the energy field that will neutralize the particles that allow him to change his mass and density. Which is all operated from a quantum battery power-pack located OUTSIDE of the cell. It looks like a little doll's house, with its little privacy screen and little cot and everything! Brainy even worked out how to clean the cell! "I figure when we catch him," He says to himself, "I'll put him on a shelf, and if I'm having a bad day I'll pick him up and shake him around."

Triplicate Girl has posed:
Luorno had, in the recent days, made a couple trips out of the Cruiser, down to Earth. If asked or inquired upon, she'd only said she was doing some research, smiled a little mischeviously, and went on her way. Luorno, for all her mischeviousness, was technically the eldest Legion member here and so trusting her wasn't necessarily the issue. Especially with her playing diplomat.
But on the following afternoon of the last visit, she is now prowling the Cruiser, looking for one particular individual. And, when not finding him in his lab, or a few other places, she'd popped her head into the Operations section. "There you are, Querl." She smiles, warmly. "You're a hard guy to find, sometimes."

Brainiac 5 has posed:
Brainy looks up, and gives a little smile, before he says, "Duplicate Girl!" He looks somewhat sheepish, then says, "I was just finishing the micro-cell, and Invisible Kid requested the lab to himself. I can work as easily outside it as I can in it." And he really can. He spins in his chair, and says, "I wanted to apologize to you for before. You were trying to calm me down, and I appreciate it -- the stress had been getting to me a bit. I've actually even considered putting in for a day off. *Me*. It'd be nice to go down and lie on the beach and see if there's anything worthwhile buried in any of Earth's scientific journals..."

Triplicate Girl has posed:
"I brought -onion rings-." Luorno seems very proud of this fact, pulling out a paper bag, with the crispy, still hot, fried goods within. She offers the appointed leader of the Legionaires one. "I discovered them on a taste-exploration trip of Earth Food through a very nice Earth girl I met. Perhaps they will make you feel better. They are very delicious."
She then smiles, some. "It's quite alright. There was a lot going on. I'm just glad I was able to help. You're my friend. And, I know how passionate you can be, even if you rarely show it."
She moves around, to examine the little 'doll house'. "I take it you are preparing accomodations for our 'guest'?" She looks up at Brainy, curiously. "That's really why I wanted to come find you, you know. I have some ... news."

Brainiac 5 has posed:
Brainy takes out an onion ring, sniffs it thoughtfully, and then runs a scan of it with his omnicom. "Triplicate Girl, the nutritional contents and composition of this food would make it *illegal* in the United Planets. Which is why I trust you won't let it get out that I'm about to eat this." He takes a bite, with one cheek puffed out. "Delicious."

Then he says, "Yes, I've just finished it. It's really a masterpiece. It should hold him in humane comfort while eliminating the possibility that he'll get out." Then he leans back, "I take it your mission to find help was successful? Invisible Kid's been working on a backup plan... but I think it was something he wanted to do anyway."

Triplicate Girl has posed:
"He rarely comes up with something and then doesn't follow through with it," says Luorno, humored. "You might not always agree, but you two -really do- compliment each other rather well. You balance out his lack of self-control, and he often takes the risks you would not. There's something to be said for that. But, yes." She nods, with a measure of certainty.
"Janet van Dyne. Otherwise known as The Wasp. She has the ability to shrink to the same levels as Micro Lad, and also she contains a biological weapon within her body. Of the candidates I found compatible, she was the one that had the highest chance for both success, and being faithful to the Legion, in the end."
Luorno pauses, "Of course, such help does come with a price. Though neither Dream Girl or Andromeda or myself said anything, she was able to deduce we were from the future. Such a level of intelligence and percepiton is to be admired."

Brainiac 5 has posed:
That makes Brainy stroke his chin. "That's acceptable, we're not making a secret of it. Did she put any price tag on her help?" Then he says, "There's another issue that needs to be settled. I know you'll handle it with delicacy, but I don't want word getting out to the rest of the Legion, not even to Invisible Kid, until I've figured out how to deal with it. There's a... I guess you'd call him a 'hero' using a Legion Flight Ring. He purports to be a time traveler himself... his name is Booster Gold."

"I want that ring so I can figure out who it belonged to. I'm not willing to commit assault to take it. Not yet. And I am unsure if I want to task Lyle with going down there and stealing it. But that can wait, for now. Micro Lad first."

Triplicate Girl has posed:
"No one is missing their ring, are they?" Brainy's news has Lurono frowning, deeply. She clearly is concerned. "Is he also from our future, then? I have never heard this name before." Her mouth draws into a flat, even line. "You've my word. I shall not speak of it to any of the others. We will deal with Micro Lad, and then, then I will approach this - Booster Gold."
She pinche the bridge of her nose, exhales, then replies, "Janet is a true hero. No price. She is doing it to help us. She could be a very great ally to us, Querl. She is well loved by the people, and the heroes of Earth each. She is not so much as Superman is, but, she is still well known. She also designs fashions. And has offered, I believe, if we need, to help us - fit in more."

Brainiac 5 has posed:
Brainy gestures and says, "That's all right. Please, give her a slip-gate chit to access the ship and tell her that she's welcome here." Then he runs his fingers through his hair, and says, "That is... very generous of her. I know many of the Legionnaires are working to integrate themselves into Earth's society in this era but we could absolutely use the assistance. Though once the engines are running we might not always be on Earth." He looks up, and says, "Please, tell her I'd like her to come up to the ship and speak with me, so we can discuss the plan to catch Micro Lad. Whenever she's free, I'll be here."

Triplicate Girl has posed:
"Consider it done. She is much like me. I think you'll find her. She is perceptive, fearless, and mischevious at times." Then Luorno smiles a little more, "I know. I am hesitate to interact too much, but I am starting to believe for our mental health, as well as our true future - to return home, we need to join with Earth in some capacity. I do not suggest living there. But, I think makng some allowances, with occasional reminders that we are not staying forever, less too deep attachments get made."

Brainiac 5 has posed:
"At the same time," Brainy says, "While I tend not to let it happen, we also need to prepare for the fact that it may be several years before we go home. And there is a non-zero possibility that I will fail." He rests his chin in his hands. "And a greater chance that Legionnaires will fall in love with people from this era, possibly even begin families of their own. How can I deny them their rights as sentient beings?" He shakes his head.

Triplicate Girl has posed:
"It will be their choice. But at the same time, we also have families in our time. I suppose," Luorno says, quietly, "And we have been through so much. Regardless," she murmurs, stepping closer, to put her hand on Brainy's shoulder comfortingly, "They are our family. And we theirs. Let's handle such things if they come to pass, and not worry about what-if's. The only what-if we should be worrying about is what if Micro Lad isn't the only foe from our time whose followed us, and what if some of those less diserable villians from this time try to - advance their own goals by taking something beyond them."

Brainiac 5 has posed:
"If they do, they'll find themselves biting off more than they prepared for." Brainy says. He relaxes visibly when Lu touches his shoulder, and then lets out a soft sigh. "There are two things I'm considering, Triplicate Girl - one of them is holding elections. I'm not quite sure we're ready for that yet. The other... is holding tryouts. When the time comes for us to go home, any Legionnaires from this era would get the option to stay behind, or come with us... but I'm convinced it's something we need to think about doing."

Triplicate Girl has posed:
Luorno smiles, sharply at Brainy's conviction. Then, she listens to his proposals moving around him to hop up onto one of the control panels where there aren't any buttons. She makes herself comfortable, and can watch Brainy examine the little dollhouse, too. "If we hold tryouts, it does mean advertising us, publically, to this time. I'm not opposed. But, certainly you're aware of this. There is precident," she agrees. "With Superboy. But, I have to tell you," she says crossing her leg over the other, "If we hold elections, I'm fairly confident you'd be chosen again. Unless? You really don't desire the mantle?" She studies her friend now, curiously, and with a measure of very well hidden concern.

Brainiac 5 has posed:
"It's not that." Brainy says, "It's that I declared myself leader in extremis and then appointed Invisible Kid as my XO. That was necessary for when we were in a state of emergency," He adds, gesturing with one hand, "But it's necessary to restore the full democratic process in order to keep morale up. So it needs to go back to the old style. The most votes, you're the leader. The second highest number of votes, you're the XO." He leans back. "And the only recusing yourself is due to medical infirmity or personal crisis. It's everybody's game."

Triplicate Girl has posed:
"Good. Because, while I can see sometimes you might wonder if you're doing the best you can by us? Everyone here believes in you, Querl. Perhaps I'd make a good XO. I'm a great diplomat, and teacher. But, I'm really not a leader. I could be, if that's what everyone wanted. But I'd," she has to smile here, "Probably feel a lot like you. Out of water. Misplaced. Let's worry about Micro Lad first. Then, we can talk about elections. And then, maybe, try outs. One thing at a time. But, a good plan."

Brainiac 5 has posed:
Querl raises an eyebrow. "You're a great morale officer, at the very least." He says, his voice wry. "Thank you, Lu. You've given me some fresh perspective on things. Please, when you go to deliver the chit to Miss van Dyne, give her my regards, and tell her that as is customary we'll throw a special dinner for her as an honored guest. I'll even repicate a new copy of my formal uniform."

Triplicate Girl has posed:
"Color me impressed, if you do," laughs Luorno, quietly. She brushes a gloved hand across her leg, casually, to smooth the fabric. "But I will tell her. I think she'll be quite thrilled. She almost was eager to see the Cruiser. Andromeda is also eager to have some clothing made by her, I think. But you didn't hear that from me."

Brainiac 5 has posed:
Brainiac 5 looks up, and says, "Maybe she can figure out something to do with my complexion. Between you and I as much as I like purple and black, I'm wondering if maybe I should diversify a bit."

Triplicate Girl has posed:
"I'd be impressed if she can make a uniform that can split into threes," Luorno says with another laugh, and this time a very mischevious sort of smile for her own part. "Maybe white," she says, moving to hold the white part of her boot against his side, playfully. "I'll mention that to her, also, when I see her next."

Brainiac 5 has posed:
"Anything she can't provide, I can. You know that." Brainy says. "Yes." He coughs. "Green skin, blond hair. Ask her what she can do. Eyes match the skin." Then he sits back, and says, "And Lu? Thank you."

Triplicate Girl has posed:
Luorno pushes herself off the control panel, nodding. "Anytime, Querl. You know where I'm at, if you ever need anything," she says, kindly. "Don't let the onion rings get cold." She seems pleased with everything, and she adds as she moves to head out of the room, "Don't forget the micro-yard ornaments," amused.

Brainiac 5 has posed:
Brainiac 5 eats another onion ring, and then says, "The people of this era have so much to learn about nutrition. They don't even know what Spoo is. But I have to admit, they've mastered flavor."
