Twas The Day Of Thanksgiving

Synopsis:	Thanksgiving dinner at New Hope Shelter ends with a bang and a peeved off Kryptonian

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
After an issue with one of the freezers caused for the perishable foods within to- Well, perish, there was a rush to get volunteers in to unload a late delivery of emergency supplies. Thanks to the kindness of a certain billionaire, disaster was averted. Due to the overwhelming response to the situation, there was much more to unload than initially expected. In the end, the other, still functioning freezer was filled up plus the portable one that was loaned out to them. The additional produce ended up filling up the pantry area and-

Well, sufficient to say the volunteers were at the shelter much longer than expected and ended up greeting Thanksgiving day at the same place.

Nick, who had previously expressed the need to leave prior to the dinner prep found himself caught in that trap. Too tired to head home, he ended up catching a nap in one of the empty classrooms. And when he got up, it was a gradual stream of 'Hey before you go can you...?' requests. Long story short, he ended up back on potato duty, staying hidden in the kitchen.

And now dinner is done. Cleanup is underway and HEY. Nick is still breathing.

Power Girl has posed:
The issue with thinking your home is free is that's when things go wrong.. A Wall explodes Just explodes outwards, showering the area in cement and wood and metal bits.. but Thankfully, there was one thing

     The girl who took the brunt of that explosion and, well, the wall exploding out was, well her! Of course, her reflexes kicked in, and she quickly, using super speed, snaps her hands out, grabbing all the flying debris or knocking it to the side so it didn't hurt anybody

     the only issue is she wasn't fast enough to stop that blast ripping her top! But right now she's got her fist up and is glaring at the bad guys who are coming in, unaware they pissed off a Kryptonian!

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Well, if there's any blessing in all this, it's that the trouble didn't happen until cleanup time. The dining hall was mostly empty, which kept the number of people needing protecting from the exploding wall down quite a bit.

But the blast was unexpected. As much as Power Girl may be able to stop pieces from flying, there's no stopping the sound and the sound was more than enough to betray a reasonably good sense of reaction time in Nick. Not Kryptonian speeds of course, but for a human- Well, it seems he may have been exposed to things of this nature before as he dives down behind one of the dining hall tables, grabbing a nearby volunteer to take with him.

From the newly opened hole, a cloud of dust casts an ominous feel over the room. Darkly clad figures make their way in, faces and hands covered to leave nothing but dark figures holding guns, coming in. The head of one turns, looking around quickly, scanning the crowd, presuming them to be too shocked to move. A hand gestures towards one of the other black clad figures and gestures to the kitchen. The group starts to split.

Power Girl has posed:
Power Girl While she could hide what she was before, and dust helps.. what happens next wouldn't work so much Nick would also get an eyefull of flesh as it flashes past.. she flys forward eye beams blasting outwards.. Zapping Guns even as her hand snaps out, grabbing the larger guy, and lifts him right up like he's nothing " Who are you and what are you here? " She growls her eye's still glowing from blasting several guns.. looking to stun the men!

Phantasm (Drago) has posed:
Having recovered from the jump, Nick turns his head to look to the group coming in. "Sh-" Nick bites back a curse and looks over to the other volunteer. He makes a shushing motion and then gestures to the nearby doorway leading to the main area of the shelter, and consequently the main exit out of the building.

The man in Power Girl's arms turns to look to the super powered person. The mask obscures any facial expression, but one just knows they're sneering at her. Beyond that, he remains silent. Refusing to answer the question.

Another who witnesses the movement halts, backing back to the opening. This one is not as silent.

"Fall back." He simply states. Already heading out while the stunned men take a moment to gather themselves.

The group that was directed to the kitchen turn, moving back to the hole.

While Power Girl disarmed a few men, a couple still remain armed. This is problematic as one of the armed ones manages to look in the right direction to catch a glimpse of the volunteers and brings their side arm up to shoot at Nick.

Power Girl That was a mistake for one she was gonna let them go .. she was going to let them leave and that would be that.. why you think because following them is easy for her and keeping the people safe is more important.. but now they've crossed the line so now that man in her arms is launched like a cannon as she zips infront of the shot to block it and her eye's start to glow " MISTAKE " Even the leader would realize they fucked up.

     guys as trained as them would realize that the most powerful creatures on this planet were the kryptonians messing with them was sucide .. because Now she's blasting forward she was gonna let them go but now she's attacking at super speed!

The next few moments are extremely chaotic. As the one aiming for Nick pulls the trigger, several things occur. The volunteer with Nick chooses at that time to jump up and run to the doorway that had been indicated. The move is a bit awkward, having the added effect of blocking Nick from moving from his spot. The blur of motion to his side causes for Nick to stumble from his retreat, looking as a barely clad heroine seemingly blocks something from hitting him.

As Power Girl lets loose on the men in black it becomes very apparent how one sided the fight actually is. The one who made the shot only gets the one chance. He's soon on a collision course with another teammate. The original leader ends up involuntarily stepping down from his position as he lands, and fails to move anymore from that point.

But to the survivors credit, the remaining ones do seem to take note and heed the other man's advice to fall back. They proceed to start running back through the hole for freedom.
