Cast of Characters: Winter Soldier, Sarah Connor

Winter Soldier has posed:
It is often said that James Buchanan Barnes is a gentleman of the old style. Many would say this is true. And being such a gentleman comes with a code... hold open doors, always pick up the check, remind others to mind their manners when a lady is present, and never introduce someone to your weapon's dealer until the third date. Well, maybe the last bit is a bit idiosyncratic, but still Bucky feels it is time that Sarah is introduced to someone who might be able to hook her up with some more hardware for her continuous fight against the mechanical menace that is the Terminators.

Was it her tale about wanting to keep her son safe?

Was it because they both spent time in Nicaragua and Columbia?

Is it because he doesn't know too many women who can hit a bullseye at two hundred yards with a pistol? Well, truth be told he knows a few of those, but he also has a deep respect for them. So, it may very well be that Bucky's weakspot can be found on the shooting range.

Whatever the reason, an invitation has gone out to Sarah, unerringly at her current place of work, as a simple telegram message. Which is, of course, an obvious clue as to who sent it... who else would still be using telegram to avoid electronic interception?

The message was cryptic, to meet him at a certain adress downtown, at a certain time on a a certain day. Where, of course, punctual as ever, Bucky was waiting in a non-descript black sedan. The mission?

According to the message, to meet 'the Chef'.
Sarah Connor has posed:
Sure. Sarah knew who the invitation was coming from. Could probably think of any number of reasons why he had sent the invite - including keeping it off the books and away from the upper echelons of SHIELD. But what she couldn't figure out was 'why'.

Any other person she would have tossed the telegram into the garbage. Bucky was a special case. In fact, she was getting upset with herself for letting him in as far as she had. What happened last time? The terminators got hold of her boyfriend. That's what. Stupid is what it was. Sure he'd been freed, but barely. And she was on the lamb again.

Every time she let people in, she endangered them just by being herself.

So what did she do? Yep. She answered his telegram. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

As she approached the meeting place, she looked around. No terminators. Yet. Within a few seconds she caught sight of what she thought was Bucky's non-descript vehicle. Shaking her head, she flicked on and off, on and off her headlight. And waited.
Winter Soldier has posed:
Ever the professional, Bucky waits for a good twenty seconds before he gets out of the car, casually locks it, and saunters over towards Sarah's vehicle. He's in very casual clothes, with obligatory sunglasses, and simply lets himself into the passenger seat of the car without as much as a by your leave.

"Glad you could make it. Now please drive two blocks, hang a left, turn right at the end of the street and follow until you get to the gate. You'll see it, you can't miss it." It's all delivered in a very pleasant tone, as if they're simply chatting away like old friends, even though his eyes do go around the car once... he's getting to trust Sarah, but he's also not stupid.

A few blocks away, an Airbus A310 lifts off from LaGuardia airport. Are they that close to the runway? The terminal is in the completely opposite direction...
Sarah Connor has posed:
"You know, I should wait for an explanation?"

Not that she's serious. She drove here, didn't she? Sarah flipped on her lights to let him know that she was there. Pretty stupid to do that, and then refuse. "What I can't understand is why I came."

Sure she does. Bucky had wormed his way inside her outer layer of protection. Damn him to hell and back. He knew it; she knew it.

"Who is benefiting this time?" Two blocks, hang a left.. She realizes that Bucky doesn't play by the rules. Neither did she. It could be feasible that he needed her help. Turn right.. can't miss it.
Winter Soldier has posed:
"You are."

Yes, he waits until the gate is in view before letting Sarah know that, because Bucky is in the end still quintessentially used to secrecy. What he doesn't tell someone can't hurt them. Not much anyway.

When the car pulls up to the gate, he leans out of the window and just waves at the people manning it "Here to talk to the Chef about the catering." And with a simple nod, they open the gate. A gate which, it would seem, leads directly to the airside terminal of LaGuardia, on the north western side where the catering and cargo companies are usually located. Ominously, there's a few uniformed police around as well, but they seem to pay the whole thing no mind. And when the gate is open, Bucky smiles at the people manning it. "Appreciate it guys, have a great day!"

In an authentic Brooklyn accent.

"Drive now. Follow the road, you'll see a sign for Eural Authentic Catering about a mile further on. Pull into that parking lot, drive casually."
Sarah Connor has posed:
She snickers at the drive carefully.

"What do you think I would do? Drive like a maniac, picking potshots shots over someone trying to capture me?" Of course Sarah made a joke. Because more often than not, she was getting the hell out of Dodge. "I take it you are known around here? What should I call you?"

He may not go by Bucky here.. Of course she drove casually to the place she had been given. Of course.
Winter Soldier has posed:
"We're about to meet some people who deal in two things... one of them is truth." Bucky starts, just looking out of the window as if they're on a casual drive. A casual drive down a highly secured road at a major airport. He trusts Sarah to know how to handle herself, else he wouldn't have brought her here, but there are still some things that need to be said. "Sarah Connor is going to be a lot more welcome than Sarah Baum. But no matter what they think they know, they never have the full picture. It's considered impolite to ask outright questions, but that won't stop them from trying to get you to reveal things they don't know." He looks at her, seriously. "Consider it their insurance policy."

"Because the other thing they deal in is enough hardware to level a small nation several times over. At bargain prices." Soon enough the sign comes up, leading the way to a nondescript looking office building with a parking lot that is suspiciously full. Clearly people are hard at work here.

But the experienced spy and world wise fugitive would easily spot the signs that these cars have never driven more than a few yards over the last few years, just enough to switch parking spots from time to time. Eural Authentic Catering might actually provide food for the airline industry, but it's clearly not its major business...

"So Bucky will do."
Sarah Connor has posed:
So he knew. Sarah wasn't surprised, after all he was a pretty good SHIELD agent by her cursory check up on him. (And a few others - like Clint. And weirdly Nick. Though he wasn't an agent.)

"Gotcha." There was no reason to lie about her name at this time. "Sarah Connor it is." She felt weird after all the time using her real name. In fact Sarah Connor was kind of a name she could have picked from the phone book it had been so long since she used it.

With no accidents, or some such they made it easily.

When Bucky began to tell her what they would find there, a low whistle escaped her. "Very nice." It's not likely that the terminators would happen to know what these men could provide her with. At least the first time they attacked her.
