Welcome to Ernie's
Date of Scene: 23 January 2023
Location: Angel Grove Youth Centre, Angel Grove
Synopsis: Summary needed
Cast of Characters: Green Ranger, Pink Ranger, Black Canary

Green Ranger has posed:
The more things changed, the more they stayed the same. Though the Power Rangers, Bulk, Skull, and so many others were now in college, Earnie's remained a usual hangout. At the moment, Bulk and Skull were sitting at a table, with Bulk having some kind of problem with a new chair. He had managed to squeeze into it, but now that he was trying to get up, well, it was coming with him.

Skull was doing his utmost to help his friend remove the offending furniture, but to no avail. And all the while, Earnie grew ever closer as he walked through from the kitchen, into the main room, with a freshly made cake.

Tommy Oliver had agreed to meet up with Kimberly, as she had promised to teach him how to do gymnastics on the balance beam. In truth, it was a poor excuse to spend time with her, but they both probably knew it. He wasn't going to get that into gymnastics, especially at college age.

He arrived through the main door, taking in the Gym and Juice Bar, getting his bearings of who was here that he knew, and what was going on.

Today, he had on a black hoodie, with a flourescant green zipper, a dark green crew neck t-shirt, which had a black collar, and black gi pants. Perhaps he was trying to steal Zack's look?
Pink Ranger has posed:
Superpowers or not, everyone needed practice after all. After all, she'd been a gymnast long before she'd been fighting alien monsters!

Of course, seeing her practicing on the beam or Tommy training on the mats was hardly suprising, but it was always entertaining when they swapped. At least Tommy didn't have to wear a leotard like she was as she walked the beam, hair tied back and each step effortless and confidence as only an olympic hopeful could be.
Green Ranger has posed:
Jason Scott was the more experienced martial arts teacher, though Tommy Oliver thought that he was the better fighter. When they had fought, with either Tommy being manipulated into being evil, or friendly sparing, Tommy had generally gotten the better of them. In fact, Tommy's first fight with the Power Rangers nearly resulted in him defeating the other five, single handily. That's what he could be like when he didn't hold back. He rarely let loose like that. He could kill someone if he did.

But Tommy did teach, and had taught Kimberly a few martial arts lessons. Sure, she was well trained. But everyone, Kimberly, Jason, and Tommy, could always learn more. Practice made perfect, as they said. He walked further into the Gym and Juice Bar, trying not to laugh as Bulk ended up with a face full of Ernie's cake, and a chair stuck around his behind.

It was tough, but he managed to make his way over to the balance beam, seeing Kimberly up there. He didn't want to distract her, so waited until she was done her set, and only then would he say, "hi Kim, looking great up there."
Pink Ranger has posed:
If nothing else, it was always nice to have a chance to socialize that wasn't dealing with supervillains, monsters or space witches was always nice. A little grin, she turns from her balanced position to the voice addressing her only to chuckle and turn on the spot, raising up on the balls of her feet before leaning forward and letting the motion carry her into a handspring off the beam to land on the mats near him.

"Thanks Tommy...now is this were I tell you that it's your turn?"
Green Ranger has posed:
Every time they tried to relax and hang out, Rita Repulsa, or some other nut job, would come and ruin things. Sometimes it was the Hobgoblin, other times the Riddler, or it might be the Shredder. There were so many villains out there. They came in every shape and size. So it was nice to just have a moment of normalcy.

He watched as Kimberly executed a perfect handspring, seeing her fly through the air in that leotard of hers, only to land near him, with a customary curtsy. "My turn?" He repeated, eyebrows raising for emphasis, "I don't have to wear a leotard, do I?" Because that wasn't in his plans. They looked good on women, but not so much on men.
Black Canary has posed:
Starling City's favourite florist has her own gym, of course. Indeed has her own, well-equipped, private dojo for select students. But she sometimes likes to go out and about, in costume or "incognito" (she kind of sucks at keeping her ID secret, truth be told: step one WEAR A MASK!), to try out the various other choices. Sometimes for ideas. Sometimes just to inspire people to better themselves.

She's "incognito" right now. Yoga pants that are perhaps a size too small. A loose T that's a size too big. (It's band merch: big sprawling letters spelling out Ashes on Sunday in anarchistic paint with a cartoonish portrayal of the band's lead singer garishly splattered over the front.) And over that a leather biker's jacket that looks like it's seen a lot of action, some of it violent.

In aid of being "incognito" she's wearing shades, though, so there's no chance of anybody ever recognizing her, right?

The entrance doorway triggers the opening bell to let staff know someone's come in (or exited, though in this case it's an entrance). The "incognito" petite pugilist steps in and pauses as her eyes adjust to the change in lighting.

"Do you have guest memberships?" she asks a random passer-by, assuming that if they aren't staff they'll point to staff.
Pink Ranger has posed:
"I'll let you pass on that, if only because I only brought one today. Next time though maybe..." she teases, mock considering for a moment before she stretches her arms over her head. "Lets just get you walking on the beam for now, then go from there. I'm sure you'll-" she begins only to stop and blink, leaning past her green-clad companion to take in the arrival of Canary. Did she recognize her or was Dinah just eye-catching? Whatever the reason she gives a little lift of her hand. "The floor is generally free unless you're booking a thing, then it's pay as you go..."
Green Ranger has posed:
The look on Tommy Oliver's face was priceless. It was like he had just sucked a lemon. He knew, or at least he hoped that Kimberly was having fun at his expense, but one could never be too careful. He watched as she stretched. He hadn't done any warm-ups yet, but would soon begin, doing his own martial arts stretches, which likely would work fairly well for gymnastics as well.

But then he saw her eyes skip past him, and go to someone, or something behind. He turned to see Kimberly helping out a blonde woman, perhaps a bit older than them, but definitely in her prime. Ceasing his warm-ups, he offered a hand, "hi, I'm Tommy, and this is Kimberly."
Black Canary has posed:
"I just need some time with the 'bells," Dinah says, her head turning Kimberly's way, face breaking out into a wide smile. "Dumb- and Bar- both." She glances over at the track. "Do you have any rules about taking the dumbbells onto the track? I like to do farmer's carries while jogging, but some places don't like weight on the track in case they drop."

She pauses and looks over the equipment, pursing her lips. "Nice bags," she opines, looking over the suspended sandbags and speed bags. "Might spend some time on those too if you don't mind."

She shakes her head. "And no, if I'm going to use the kit I'm going to cause wear and tear. I'll pay for my time."

All this spoken as she approached Kimberly and Tommy. Once in arm's reach, she sticks out a hand for the shake. "Hi, I'm Dinah."

And from under the jacket sleeve it can be seen that Dinah has a huge bruise on her right arm, the ends of it visible at the outside wrist, peeking out from beneath the leather. Looks a week or so old, given the colouration.
Pink Ranger has posed:
"Oh we're just regulars rather than staff," Kim offers, introduced by Tommy as she was and grinning. "But I figure Ernie will stop you if he has a problem and we're usually fine."

Given some of the weird and wild stuff Bulk and Skull got up to? She was probably fine.

The bruise might make most worry, but to Kim and likely Tommy too it was just in the right spot to suggest a martial artist. "You can always go up and pay for a smoothie there, or talk to the big guy in the bright shirt. That's Ernie."
Green Ranger has posed:
Adding to Kimberly's sentiments, Tommy said that "Ernie's a fair guy. If you damage anything, he'll want you to pay for it. If you don't, and nobody gets hurt, or is in danger, he's usually fine with it." He did note the telltale sign of a martial artist healing from a battle wound, but he didn't draw attention to it.

Pivoting to look for Ernie, Tommy could see that he was giving Bulk and Skull a piece of his mind, though in a friendly way. Ernie was insistent, but he wasn't the kind of guy to break legs. Otherwise Bulk and Skull would have been in the grave a long time ago.

Getting a curious smile, Tommy asked, "do you do gymnastics too, Dinah? Want to have a go on the balance beam?" Anything to extend the time before he has to try it.
Black Canary has posed:
"I mostly do gymnastics of the practical kind," Dinah demurs as she strips down for her workout. The jacket gets taken off and hung on a hook. That's behind her. Two metres away. Thrown. This reveals the extent of the bruise on her arm, stretching from wrist to shoulder like something very large and hard hit her or vice versa.

That final stretch to the shoulder only becomes visible when the tee is taken off, leaving her in a black halter top with the straps of a grey sport bra peaking out from underneath. The gap between the royal blue pants and the top reveals two things: a waist that has the kind of pack (is that an EIGHT pack!?) that men in gyms spend years on trying (and failing!) to get, and a few very thin, very white lines of healed scars.

She pauses, eyeing the bruise on her arm self-consciously.

"Things like how not to slide into a telephone pole when you have to ditch a bike, for example," she adds with a self-deprecating grin. Hey, it's close enough to the truth not to be a total lie!

"I saw your warm-ups, though. That's not gymnastics either. You fight?"
Pink Ranger has posed:
Practical Gymnastics? Kim could get behind that more than one might expect. The girl in pink gives a little grin and a nod at that, tilting her head to the side. Impressive figure certainly, but the last question brings a little grin and a nod.

"Sure, although Tommy here moreso. He sometimes teaches here."
Green Ranger has posed:
Since Kimberly didn't say it, Tommy would, "practical gymnastics? I'd love to hear more about that. Though I'm still trying to figure out why my teacher thought I'd need to know calculus in every day life," adding a smile at the end.

"I don't believe in fighting, unless it's a last resort, or friendly competition." Just like every martial artist should say. Hurting people isn't what it's about. Defending people and improving your own health, body, and mind, is.

Thinking about the telephone pole and the bike, he added a follow up question of, "how bad was it for the bike?"
Black Canary has posed:
Dinah thinks back to the bike. The one where the possessed backhoe smacked down on its front wheel while she was travelling at breakneck speeds, sending her flying into a concrete pillar on the construction site, rebar missing her by mere millimetres from a last second desperate contortion.

"Bike got totalled," she says cheerfully. "Luckily I've got insurance." She glances down at her arm. "And a very high pain threshold," she adds ruefully.

She nods along to the rote recitation of the utility martial arts. "Absolutely. If you're using the arts to hurt other people who aren't themselves hurting people, your masters failed you." Small slip of the tongue there, but nobody would notice, right? "Well, maybe after I've worked out we can have a spar? I love testing my limits."

She holds up her fist in an exaggerated boxing guard. Only her footwork is all wrong as she moves. It's more ... Muy Thai? No. Close. But something a bit different.
Pink Ranger has posed:
"Ooof!" Kim whinces before moving to settle back against the beam behind her and tilting her head to the side.

Of course she agreed with the others, but she wasn't interfering with the discussion between the pair. Well, at least until the mention of sparring is raised.

"Him or me?" She questions lightly, although the grin on her lips suggests she assumes the former.
Green Ranger has posed:
"Then the bike will be missed, but you can get a new one in a different color," he suggested, which was something of an in joke, as he and the rest of the Power Rangers each seemed to favor one color, even before they got their power coins.

"That could be fun, though we can wait until you've fully recovered. I don't think Kim or I would want to risk aggravating anything." Though he felt confident that he and Kim could avoid it while sparing, he wasn't sure how Dinah would act.

Then, he turned his eyes to the balance beam, which Kim was currently resting her back against, "it might be dangerous, but..." he trailed off, looking to Kim, then to Dinah, "practical gymnastics, right?" Yes, he was suggesting that hey fight on top of a balance beam, once Dinah was fully recovered.
Black Canary has posed:
"Why not both?" Dinah asks with a merry laugh.

Beat.

"I mean sequential. Not at the same time."

She doesn't want to embarrass them after all. But her eyes snap to Tommy when he hints at sparring on the beam. Her eyes flick to the beam, head turned to the side a bit as she regards it.

Reminiscent of all those rooftop fights, really.

"Yeah, why not on a beam. I mean worst thing that happens is I fall flat on my ass on the mats, right?" Well, that or fall head-first and snap a neck, but who's counting?

"Tell you what, I'll do the routine and when I come out of it we'll know if the arm's ready for action. If it is, sure. Let's live life stupidly and grandly and spar on a beam!"

There's a certain predatory joy in her eyes paired with a wide, friendly smile as she ponders the thought of dangerous hijinks with two random strangers in a gym. This is someone who loves limits. Breaking through them,to be specific.
Pink Ranger has posed:
There were plenty of jokes and flirtatious comments that could be made there, Kim raising an eyebrow with a smirk before shrugging her shoulders. "Gotta love a girl with confidence, right?"

Tommy's comment and suggestion for the battleground brings a little roll of her eyes and playful jab at his arm. "You're a terrible influence...but it could be fun."
Green Ranger has posed:
Tommy was listening to Dinah, hearing what she had to say, thinking about the various ways to take that, and smiling, because really, what other reaction could he have. Though when Kim said that one had to love a girl with confidence, he turned to her, making eye contact, only to be playfully jabbed in the arm.

"I couldn't agree with you more, on all three counts."
Black Canary has posed:
"Well then, let me get my workout in and we'll see if I'm ready to fight on a beam." She gets the oddest challenges when she does her school visits. This one is near the top of the weird list.

With a quick wave to the pair, she kicks off her shoes (they land right under her jacket, though at least not in parallel; she's not unnatural!) and heads over to the weights, starting a warm-up with weights that many who come to the gym might be using for training, then takes up a 25kg pair of dumbbells and starts jogging, clutching the dumbbells to her chest as she does so, arms getting a brutal workout as the rhythms of her jog bring the weights down on them both.

The right arm sags visibly, though not by as much as one might expect.

Then it's a round of squats and deadlifts in a brutal relay set that leaves her visibly winded, drenched in sweat, before she finally sets the weights down and pauses, bent forward, hands on knees, as she desperately tries to oxygenate. Stretching and cool-down follow before she rejoins the pair at whatever they happen to be doing in that 20 minutes.
Pink Ranger has posed:
Kimberly wasn't exactly going to spend the time idle, instead turning to hoist herself upwards with just her arms and then extend herself out to a split for a moment before turning it into a roll and then swinging her leg around to sit on the edge while Dinah starts her workout. "First one to get knocked down buys the smoothies?"
Green Ranger has posed:
This was quite the display of athletic talent. Dinah went more for power, with weights, distance, and pushing herself in that regard. Kimberly worked on her graceful strength, and flexibility. Tommy knew which he preferred.

Though he did spend that time mostly idle, as by design or happy accident, he seemed to have arranged to be a spectator for this event. He was a great fighter, but had no balance beam experience. "I'll never understand how you can do that," he said to Kimberly, after she had done the splits for a moment, before rolling into a seated position. Clearly, he was no Jean-Claude Van Damme. "You look like you were born up there."
Black Canary has posed:
"OK," Dinah says on arrival, "the right arm looks worse than it is. It's a bit weak, but not out of commission. I'm down for some sparring." She glances at Kimberly with grudging respect. "I saw that little stunt you did. Nice work. I'm not that good. As I said, practical gymnastics. I don't do it for looking good or competition." Well, not that kind of competition. "You'd clean my clock, I think, on a floor show, or beam routine, but I'd probably give you a run for your money on parallel or uneven bars."

Beat.

"Before you kicked my ass in points."

The twinkle in her eyes is both good-natured and infectious.

"Like here's how I'd mount the beam."

She does a very short running start, before doing a forward flip with her feet landing right at the edge of the beam before leaping up in a smooth continuation and a loud exhalation as she jumps up to the beam's height, landing her bare feet on it in a crouch. Standing up from there, she continues, "No splits, no fancy rolls. Just practicality. I'd be boring to watch."

She turns to face Tommy.

"Two of us are up here. Wanna join?"
Pink Ranger has posed:
"I mean, it's called having Gunther make you practice again and again....and again and then one more time," the brunette muses before making to bar and raise her hand, clearly offering a 'rock, paper scissors' on who got to go first.

With her sitting resting and Dinah's complements there's a flush of her cheeks before she grins at Tommy after the mount by Dinah and turns her hand to beckon him closer.
Green Ranger has posed:
Tommy was in awe of the athletic talent on display, two conflicting styles, but each highly effective. And Dinah wanted him to join them up on the bars. He wasn't really ready for it. As the Green Ranger, it'd be one thing. He would do anything if he had to in order to protect lives, but now, for simple or not so simple sparring?

"She's right, you know," he added for Kimberly's benefit, agreeing with Dinah's assessment. He grinned back at her, and gives a shrug, then mounts the bar, except, he does it as one would expect an untrained man to do so. Two hands went on the bar, then he slipped a leg over it, then the other, and once there, he would push up, slowly rising to his feet. Hands went out to counterbalance him. Yeah, he was going to fall off this so quickly. Unless, he was trying to feint that he sucked.
Black Canary has posed:
"Well, I can do splits, but only when I have my body weight bearing down on me. Doing it by just forcing my legs is not in the cards. So I can JCVD it, but not that trick you did."

Dinah looks left at Kimberly, then right at Tommy.

"So, first one off buys the drinks?" she asks.

And then, with lightning swiftness she crouches down her right leg, left leg out in a sweeping side kick ... at Kimberly, trying to hook her legs out from under her and end the 2 on 1 spar before it even begins.

And her eyes are laughing, as if hoping for, but not expecting, the girl to fall.
Pink Ranger has posed:
"It's a talent entirely maintained by practicing it specifically, but it makes for a good floor routine trick," she offers, not exactly expecting Dinah to decide to act as if things truely were a 'two on one' and sweep at her.

"Yeah I fi-ahhhh!" she begins only to cry out as she stumbles, managing to slip one leg but hook the other, nearly tipping before bringing herself down onto her behind and then swinging out to try and return the favour.
Green Ranger has posed:
Tommy didn't really think it was fair to attack Dinah while she was fighting Kimberly, so he held back, and also seemed to wobble himself on the balance beam, looking as if he nearly lost his balance and fell off while the other two weren't even trying to knock him off.

He looked more like a surfer, trying to maintain a certain posture, than the badass martial artist that he is. "Nice recovery Kim!" He called out, seeing her nearly tip, only to save herself, before pivoting into an attack of her own.

And then, perhaps as a demonstration, he did a hurricane kick, not intended to hit Dinah. There was too much distance between them, before he landed back down, but circling in mid air during the kick. Was that pure luck, had he been pretending to have terrible balance, or somewhere in the middle?
Black Canary has posed:
Dinah's own way of handling the (expected) counter-attack is to just bulldog it. A powerful arm holds her tightly to the beam, making the return kick land as if on a part of the beam itself (albeit a softer, more padded one).

"That's the spirit!" she says, with a grin. "Always counter-attack, never let up!"

And that's when she cheats.

She grabs the beam with one arm and both her legs and "falls" over the side, hanging now from the bottom of the beam.

And yes, only one arm. Because the other arm is busy grabbing the cuff of Tommy's gi to try and yank him off.
Pink Ranger has posed:
Praise recieved, Kim gives a little joyful whoop as she makes to raise herself up into a more stable stance, there's a step to suggest she might push or wrestle Dinah rather than properly strike a blow at her. Underplaying her own enhanced ability perhaps?

Of course Canary was already 'down' with her unothodox attack, offering a little suprised noise from the brunette in pink!
Green Ranger has posed:
Dinah successfully managed to grab the cuff of Tommy's gi, and he does look to be sailing off the balance beam, except he manages to grab onto it with outstretched fingers, as he is flung. He hadn't applied any chalk to his hands, so it was bare knuckle time.

His momentum sent him back, under the bar, and he kicked up with his legs, adding momentum, so that he could... completely overshoot the beam. Okay, so it was a good attempt. He nearly got it, but he went sailing around in a circle, and didn't quite manage to catch the beam this time. Instead, he landed with a thud on his butt, cushioned by the safety mat.

Rubbing his butt through the gi, he looked up to watch them, saying, "looks like smoothies are on me," though it remained to be seen who would win this. The funny thing is, he deliberately overshot it. He didn't want to expose his abilities. A keen eye, may know that.
Black Canary has posed:
Black "Keen Eyes Backwards-R Us" Canary knows it and pauses long enough to give Tommy an appraising stare. Her eyes return, then, to the still-standing threat. Keeping her place under the bar, and scurrying up and down its length at random to make it hard for Kimberly to stomp her her hands or legs in an attempt to dislodge her.

And, naturally, while playing monkey (with a smattering of serpent, the way she's twisting and distorting her body in the process to keep the maximum amount shielded by the beam), she's also playing octopus, trying to get a good grab in on Kimberly to get her sent to the floor.
Pink Ranger has posed:
Maybe Dinah could pick it, between the team members she'd worked with and her own experience. The subtle signs of a vigilante hiding back, the instinctual micro-movements before deciding not to take an action...for both of them, but certainly for Tommy.

The under the bar action? Well? It earns a giggle as Kim takes a similar action only from the top, letting gravity work to her favour and essentially crawl atop of Canary with the bar between them.

There was a pretty good chance this was going to end up with both of them hitting the floor...
Green Ranger has posed:
Tommy was watching the action, and remained close to the bar, ready to duck or dodge out of the way, if a kick were to accidentally come his way, but mostly, with the intention of helping to spot and catch anyone that might fall. The pads helped, obviously, but he was closer, and the less distance between them, the less chance of an injury.

Thing is, their fight was turning into, well, a bit of a chess match, with them practically hugging each other, if not for that beam in between. He was clearly cheering on Kimberly, with 'way to go', or 'yeah' whenever she did something well, but he just wanted to make sure no one got hurt.
Black Canary has posed:
So now it's snake-monkeys on a beam. One top, one bottom, slithering/climbing around the balance beam, each trying to get a hold on the other to throw the other off.

Dinah has the edge of raw strength and speed. She's no slouch on manoeuvrability and flexibility, but that's not her forte. That's Kimberly's edge. Weaker. Slower in movement. But far more flexible and evasive.

This leads to Dinah's grunting frustration as she snakes into position to grab, only to find Kimberly's body twisting out of the way and leaving her grabbing an empty beam or air.

On the other side, Kimberly grabbing Dinah happens frequently ... only to be brushed off without a lot of effort. The petite form of the pint-sized pugilist is surprisingly muscular with slow-twitch muscle, the muscle of raw strength, dominating allowing her to just pull away or cling in place or whatever it takes to stay on the beam.

Finally Dinah's advantage leaps to the fore as she uses her raw strength and speed to whip her entire body around the beam, legs wrapping around Kimberly's hips and the beam, arms reaching for her elbows to pin the girl's arms back. And that's where the miscalculation lies.

For a second she's got Kimberly pinned. But she'd misjudged the width of the girl's hips, or positioned her legs wrong. While she stares down at Kimberly, grinning in victory, a look of alarm crosses her face after a second.

Her legs are slipping, losing their grip on the beam.

Inexorably the pair of bodies turns, sliding around the beam until Kimberly is atop Dinah, under the beam, Dinah's legs desperately trying to keep a grip, her arms giving up on pinning Kimberley's back, reaching for the beam instead to stay in place.

And she misses.

Kimberly's weight pushes her torso down out of reach of the beam, and despite the tremendous strength and endurance of Dinah's core and legs, the situation is untenable.

The legs slip.

Dinah and Kimberly land on the mat in a heap. And technically speaking Dinah hits the mat just a fraction of a second before the younger girl.
Pink Ranger has posed:
Well...at least neither of them had to pay for juice! The thump of them hitting the mat is met with Kimberly bursting out laughing, rolling over to a position when she just sort of...flopped on Dinah for a moment in a terrible impression of a pin.

"That totally counts, right?" the younger woman in the leotard questions before climbing back to her feet with a grin and offering a hand to Dinah. "That was -awesome-!" she exclaims before looking back to Tommy. "I think I'll have one of the 'Ultra Strawberry blast' smoothies Tommy. What about you Dinah?" she grins at the first to fall, still flushed from effort and enjoyment of their impromptu contest.
Green Ranger has posed:
It would seem that Tommy got caught up in watching the fight, rather than doing his intended job as a spotter, hoping to catch them. That, or his reaction time is off. Perhaps he should see Alpha Five, just to make sure. But with Kimberly coming to her feet, and offering a hand to Dinah, he stood and watched some more. "It was awesome. You two are great up there."

With a half smile, half rolling his eyes, he said, "coming right up," and he turned to look for Ernie, placing her order, and whatever Dinah would like as well. He made it a double of Utlra Strawberry blast smoothies, since it sounded so good.
Black Canary has posed:
"Strawberry blast sounds fine," Dinah says, grinning with a bit of rueful mischief in her eyes. "Make it a strawberry bourbon blast. If they can't do that, I can add the bourbon myself."

Her eyes stray to her jacket, then back to the pair.

"You," she says to Kimberly, "are really good. You held back, but that's OK, so did I." She winks. Then turns her attention to Tommy.

"And that was the fakest fall I've seen in ages. Gotta work harder on losing undetected..."
Pink Ranger has posed:
"Thanks," Kim offers before grinning brighter. "I mean, you were super awesome. Bet you'd be even better if we weren't balancing on a beam. And Tommy...?" She turns to the man in green, tilting her head with a smile. "He was totally just wanting to be a gentleman...or could tell there was no way I was carrying a wallet in this, right?"
Green Ranger has posed:
They made it three Ultra Strawberry Blast smoothes, which would come after a few minutes. They were tall, very pink, and oh so sugary. They also tasted divine. Alas, they don't serve alcohol here. No licence for it. But Dinah was able to add some to hers, provided she had tucked away a bottle... somewhere. She was full of surprises.

Being caught redhanded, Tommy tried to play dumb, and then quickly dropped the act, "okay, you got me, I was... what Kimberly said" He was actually about the say the same thing, but she said it first. Nice save? Or was it corny as hell? Could it be both? Then to Kimberly, he turned, "if it wasn't on a beam, things might have played out very differently. And," glancing up and down at Kimberly, "there really isn't." He laughed at that.
Black Canary has posed:
Dinah does have bourbon. In a hip flask concealed in her jacket of carrying. That she surreptitiously pulls out, dumps a snort into her smoothie from, and replaces.

Also from her jacket, not yet revealed, she palms some small things, concealed from the pair when she comes back.

"Huh. Very strawberry blasting. Right proper name," she says. The smell of the bourbon fills the immediate space. "Mixes well with bourbon."

She takes a long sip from it and closes her eyes. "Delightful post-workout treat," she sighs. Then opens her eyes and holds up two business cards, blank side facing the pair.

"There's some people I know who you might be interested in talking with. There's Alpha Flight, Canada's own hero group ... they have an affiliate program for training and possible elevation to full membership. And there's SHIELD if you're more whole-world in your interests."

She pushes the cards forward a bit, closer to the pair. "Call 'em up. See if you can't find something interesting."
Pink Ranger has posed:
A blink, a tilt of Kimberly's eyes and there's a look towards Tommy. Were they being invited to learning to be super heroes? Was this the 'normal' way rather than being chosen by an alien wizard...or brainwashed by an alien witch? Still there's a flush of her cheeks and a grin as she takes the card and tucks it into her neckline. It was only a card and that was the closest thing she had to a pocket right now!

Still, she does however take a sip from her drink and tilt her head. "So...Dinah. Think you'll come back to work out here? We could always have a rematch without the bar, or you could come running with us or something?"

It was an offer, but Kimberly had always been the extra welcoming sort, even before becoming a 'hero'.
Green Ranger has posed:
Something told Tommy that Zordon would not be pleased that a stranger had identified them as secret superheroes, simply from a game on the balance beams. He met Kimberly's gaze, as startled by this as she was. Tommy really would have been the better person to take the cards. He had these things called pockets. But Kimberly had a... harder place to pick, he supposed.

He paused, not really saying anything, even with body language. He was a little bit stumped about this. He wasn't sure what the best course of action would be. Thankfully, Kimberly brought the conversation back to workouts. "Or, we could meet you up at your gym. It sounded nice from what you said earlier."
Black Canary has posed:
Dinah laughs and winks. "I've got some experience in this kind of thing," she says. "You didn't give anything away that's obvious." She gestures to the cards. "Look at the name."

The name that says ... Black Canary.

"I've been in the game a while. And I have a talent for spotting talent. And I'd love to spar again. Or perhaps, if you'd like, you could join me on a patrol. See if you like the lifestyle."
Pink Ranger has posed:
And so, she'd look at the card in Tommy's hand, then back to Dinah, then back to the card before giving an excited noise and a laugh. "You know what this means, right?" She offers before continuing in a stage whisper at Tommy. "We totally just got black canary's number...."
Green Ranger has posed:
Dinah seemed nice enough, she was fun, and a terrific athlete. She seemed like she could be a good friend. Even if she was a little... indelicate, at times. Thrusting this, Alpha Flight and S.H.I.E.L.D. stuff on them, well, there was a bit of whiplash, as one might expect.

Tommy was quiet, contemplative, and then he burst into a wide smile at Kimberly's insight. "I suppose we did." Though he cast a reassuring glance to Kimberly, and did he shift in his seat, moving a little closer to her, just sliding his body weight.

"I'd like to spar, and... perhaps we could take it slow? Just, hang out, get to know each other, before... that." Meaning patrolling.
Black Canary has posed:
"Yeah, I get it," Dinah (Canary) laughs. "Came out of nowhere. Not everybody is as crazy as I was; wanting to jump two feet into the lifestyle. Just keep it in mind. You've got the skills, and by what you've said you've got the attitude. Think seriously about using them to do good."

She shrugs easily and takes another long pull of her smoothie.

"So yeah, take it at whatever speed you like. I can come here and we do weird spars..." Her eyes stray to the ceiling, looking at the fixtures as if she's pondering a roof-climbing spar. "...or just chill and hang. You can visit my little dojo. It's not as fancy as this place, though; I'm very traditional in equipment and training techniques."

She punctuates this with a snort.

"I don't get along with computers, so no machines, for example."
