Cast of Characters: Ivory, Zatanna Zatara

Ivory has posed:
What brings somebody to the 50/50? The dirty and raunchy one? Many reasons. If anything, they offer a good backroom distilled moonshine, as well as a crowd that does not care... too much who you are, as long as you pay them a drink and don't bother them. Ivory sticks out like a sore thumb as they enter, a Jeans jacket with a Calico-cat on the back, scarf on and the white hair tied to a ponytail...
Zatanna Zatara has posed:
Why is Zatanna Zatara at a place like this? A wretched dive full of cigarette smoke, cheap drinks and questionable morality? Sometimes even a world reknowned stage magician and member of the Justice League has the desire to slum it.

Thusly, we find Zee seated at the bar, dressed way down to kind of fit in. She's wearing a tight black t-shirt under a leather jacket, black hotpants with tights underneath and combat boots. Whatever drink she's nursing in front of her is most likely strong. She seems to be minding her business, waving off wait staff and anyone else that tries to talk to her. Until Ivory comes in. She can almost taste the magic, and she looks up, blue eyes scanning for the source. It's not what she expected.
Ivory has posed:
Working their way to the bar, the whitehead seems rather unfazed to be stared at. After all they are used to being some sort of center of attention and... the source of the concentration of magic. As if they are a vessel of the stuff, possibly even seeping of it...
Zatanna Zatara has posed:
Zee can follow the approach without looking. She can feel the magic, and thoughts are tumbling in her head. Is it a creation? Another sorcerer, a young one without the fine enough control to keep things reigned in? She's not sure. She's nosy, though.

When they sit at the bar, Zatanna grabs her drink and moves, dodging the scantily clad waitstaff and, without asking, sits next to them. "So. What's your thing?" She asks, possibly too blatantly, but the drinks are strong and that's her excuse. "Sorcerer?"
Ivory has posed:
"My thing?" Ivory reacts with a shrug, eying the offered srinks before ordering a white russian. "Oh, you mean if I am a sorcerer? Nah, if anything, I'm... hmmm, how to phrase that..."

Pondering a few moments, they shrug. "You know that Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats?"
Zatanna Zatara has posed:
Zee takes a sip of her drink. It's clear, so it might be a Gin and Tonic or a Vodka Soda. There is a lime wheel in there. She grimaces at it. It must be strong. She tilts her head, considering. Her lips curl upwards slightly.

"Can you pick any card from a pack, then? Equally cunning with dice?"
Ivory has posed:
Ivory chuckles shaking the head as they pick the three layered drink, turning the head to watch Zatanna a few long moments, then the eyes close a short moment to open again, the eyes exchanged from normal to slitted cat ones. "Can't do that. You've seen them both at work and games, and learnt about their proper names, their habits and their habitat: But... How would you ad-dress a Cat?" They recite with a smile, those unblinking feline eyes looking back at Zee.
Zatanna Zatara has posed:
Zee grins a bit. "The naming of cats is a difficult matter," she replies. She doesn't flinch at the eye changing. Magic is real, and there are many strange things on heaven and earth. These two are living proof of that.

"Since it's difficult, I'll just name myself. You can call me Zee, but you might already know who I am. ... Maybe."
Ivory has posed:
Ivory nods slowly, the white head bobbing a moment. "Zee, Zee Zee... Like a double Z on a show ticket, a tophat and fishnets, a jacket and... I guess it counts as a leotard."

Chuckling, they pull a card from the inner poceket of the jacket, an embossed white cat, the words Ivory Valentine and a website address. "I do design."
Zatanna Zatara has posed:
Zee looks at the card as it's passed, examining it, nodding along. "Got it in one. Guess it's hard for me to slum it, isn't it? ... Not that I'm exactly hiding." She takes another drink. She considers the card for another moment before pocketing it inside the jacket.

"Design, hm? I'd like to think my look is pretty classic, but it could never hurt for a second opinion." She smiles, eyes glittering. "What do you think? You know my stage look, should I get an update?"
Ivory has posed:
Ivory chuckles as they gesture over to Zee's face. "You got a very noticeable face. And indeed, not hiding, but also not wearing those iconic heels." With a smile, they raise their glass to share a short clink with Zee before taking a sip.

"Oh, you wear the classic stage magician's assistant, which of course is a pretty classic, spiced up with the fishnets, but it's not the crowd I design for. If anything, you might want a cat on stage."
Zatanna Zatara has posed:
Zee looks down at her feet and wiggles them in her combat boots. "Yes, well, if I wore heels instead of these and changed my top, they might think I worked here," she says with a laugh. "Besides, these are comfortable for walking about, and the heels ... aren't."

She pauses a moment, clinking the glass and taking a drink of the jet fuel concoction. "A cat on stage? Like ... An actual cat, or someone pretty dressed up as a cat? There's a difference."
Ivory has posed:
Ivory chuckles a moment, nodding as they point to their own sneakers. "Easy shoes for easy people. And I don't look great in heels, no matter what. Ain't looking great in a skirt other than kilt too... Though my style is nongendered anyway."

"Oh, you know, some magicans pull white bunnies from the hat, I thought you might match a white persian cat. Or maybe a black shorthair? Ether way, proper cat shaped cat. That is, unless you manage to draw Tigra from your hat."
Zatanna Zatara has posed:
"Everybody can look great in heels," she laughs. "Just have to get the walk down, that's all. And despite how often I wear them, I think I prefer these."

"I'll think on the cat. I already have Flopsy, my rabbit, but maybe a little more animal presence might do something." She pauses for effect. "I don't think even I could pull Tigra from my hat."
Ivory has posed:
The chuckle continues as Ivory offers a nod. "Oh, I guess I might manage, even high ones, but really, it would need an awful lot of convincing for me to wear more than babyheels."

"Oh, you couldn't do that? Hmm... Though... how about a bet?"
Zatanna Zatara has posed:
Honestly, Zee probably -could- pull Tigra from a hat, but it wouldn't end well. She'd get punched. A lot. It'd be real impressive though.

"A bet? I'm listening. What's the game?"
Ivory has posed:
Ivory offers a toothy grin. "Well, what about this... You get three guesses like the sorcerer one... and if you manage to figure it out, you get a wish free. If not... I get a stage appearance."
Zatanna Zatara has posed:
Zee taps her lips with her index finger, mulling this over. She swirls her drink and takes another sip. "Deal." There's no real loss here. Guest stars never hurt. Especially if they're interesting.

Her eyes narrow slightly as she lets her magical senses take over, feeling the raw magical power coming from Ivory. "Hmm...Fae."
Ivory has posed:
Ivory shakes the head at the suggestion they might be fae, tapping their own nose, those cat eyes still left and right of it. "You mean like a pookah? Nope, I am fairly sure I was born in upstate NYC and not Avalon."
Zatanna Zatara has posed:
"You have to admit, it was a good guess," Zee says, frowning. She takes another drink, emptying the glass, and setting it down. She taps for another. "If not a fae ... Homunculus, then. Artificially crafted. Your mystic energy is ridiculous. Like ... Like a battery, or capacitor."
Ivory has posed:
Laughing a little more, Ivory shakes the head again, tapping the nose once more. "What counts as created here? Like, a Golem? Then nope! Totally not a creature made from earth and alchemy. Sooo... last one?"
Zatanna Zatara has posed:
Zee frowns as her new drink is delivered. She tilts back a bit, tilting her head one way, then another. "Mutant? Metahuman? Homo Magi? There's only so many things you could be, and I'm out of guesses. Magical reserves like that just aren't common. I think you have more than -I- do."
Ivory has posed:
Ivory chuckles at the mass suggestion, pulling the scarf down to expose the neckband a little. "Not sure on those, but I'm the third kid of a third kid that what given a heirloom from 7 generations ago, turn into a cat and gender is an illusion." they explain as if that does explain everything. "Like... no idea if that explains magical reserves but hey... who won?"
Zatanna Zatara has posed:
"I ... don't know," Zee says with a laugh. "I really don't." She takes another drink. Her tolerence must be impressive. "I'll tell you what, though. Next time I'm in town for a show, I'll get you on stage and we'll do a couple tricks. It'll be fun, and I won't make you wear heels. ... Sequins are non-negotiable, though."
Ivory has posed:
"Cat in Sequins? Ok, you're the boss on stage. But I hope your show got shrimp cocktails behind the bar. I love those." Ivory muses, raising the glass to kill the first drink they ordered.
Zatanna Zatara has posed:
"We can make that happen." There's a joke there about the cat loving shrimp, but she doesn't make it, her lips just curl upwards instead. "The sparkles. People love seeing the sparkles on stage. It heightens the experience."
Ivory has posed:
Ivory nods, laughing a little. "Gimmie the colors and I bring a vest in cat size. Would need a little work to get on, but hey, itf it works, it works."
Zatanna Zatara has posed:
"Standard colors are black and white with a little red," she says with a shrug. "The classics. The fans love the classics, or maybe they just love the fishnets. It's hard to say." She takes yet another drink, because she's nothing if not a trooper. "It will, at the very least, be interesting, and my hope is that it will be entertaining. For you and the audience."
Ivory has posed:
"I know those. I bet black would look good with white fur. But interesting it will be! So... let's see if we can make a date some time soon!"
