Drinking Alone
Date of Scene: 07 March 2023
Location: Bar with No Name
Synopsis: Outcome... Terminators are coming.. for reals. yeah, you know. reals.
Cast of Characters: Blackout, Sarah Connor

Blackout has posed:
Blackout sits in a booth by himself against a far wall. He's got a bottle in front of him. IBC. He's not wearing his mask. This is a safe place from heroes. So no need. Plus, his ID is known to heroes and villains alike. So a mask is pointless in said company. However, he is wearing his super suit. Much like most people in the bar, super suits, villain monikers. But in all, people being people.
Sarah Connor has posed:
It doesn't matter how she tracked him, but she did. Right to the 'Bar with No Name'. She could be a tad amused - not that she shows it! But it reminded her of her gun running days.

Walking in she checks all the exits, and looks for mirrors showing everything, and every person in there. She couldn't care less of the arrest sheets of the general patrons - heck, Sarah probably outranks them all. But with no mirrors she nods to herself. This was /that/ kind of bar.

And frankly, she was fine with that.

She caught a glimpse of Blackout, and with that, walked up to the bar, and orders a beer on tap. She couldn't have told you the brand; she doesn't plan on drinking it. It's just part of the whole thing: you enter a bar, and you order a beer. Simple.
Blackout has posed:
Most of the patrons are at ease. Yet, not lax or oblivious to the arrival of a new face in the crowd, a brunette even. There are several that will give Sarah the once, twice, or three times over. But they know better than to harass strangers. That could lead to trouble. So they leave well enough alone.

Also on the list of those who noticed Sarah was Marc. He casually watched her progress, then waited for her to get her drink before waiting for eye contact. Expecting her to look his way, he stares and when eye contact is made, he'll raise his right hand, two fingers and thumb extended as a wave, his wrist turns his palm toward him, and he motions with fingers for her to approach. If she is so inclined.
Sarah Connor has posed:
Once her beer was in her hand she stares at the men who had noticed her. 'Oh please' her look seems to be saying. Even if she were looking for a partner, quite frankly most men didn't didn't stack up against Kyle Reese. Besides, she didn't trust that terminators wouldn't cause problems for them, and she had enough on her plate figuring out how to get rid of them for good. Or at least keep John safe.

Of course Blackout noticed her as well, and as she hone in on him, he gestured.

Of course to the people watching Sarah walked over looking like she had made her choice. Not true. What did Sarah care? As long as she made the connection.

As she slid into the seat across from him, she realized he might be more prone to speaking if she bought him a beer. Which made her smile, a half assed smile at best. "I should have known you would be curious about me if I followed you." Setting her her down, she cradles it with two hands, and waits.
Blackout has posed:
He has his bottle in front of him, a glass of water to his right. He leans forward to engage in a more proximal and private conversation. He intones, "The curious part is why. I mean, I'm insignificant. A random encounter a few weeks ago at a diner. Since you know about this place, then you probably noticed that my clothing was different. It's a pretty dead giveaway that I'm powered for people in the know. But you. I know nothing about you other than you're definitely not like Alice in Mel's Diner. You've got a much broader story to tell considering you can track a teleporter. Then again, you may have people working for you on the lookout for me. Which means you probably took a photo of me, maybe the cameras in the diner you work at. So, it brings me back to the 'why'."
Sarah Connor has posed:
People. On the lookout. If Cameron counted? Then.. yes.

Shrugs shrugs. "As far as I can tell, you aren't the enemy. And pretty much wouldn't be working for them." Sarah says that very solidly. She has a good feeling about this, and doing this so long her intuition was probably right. "I'm just a regular person who wants some information about something you said."

"I will tell you what, a tale for a tale. Something about me in return for something about you."
Blackout has posed:
There's a bit of skepticism in his gaze as she gets to her final remark. Then Marc says, "How about you just ask what you're seeking. No need to have a tit-for-tat or tale-for-a-tale thing going on. Just let me know what you want to know, and I'll do my best to answer it."

He leans back in the booth, slides the bottle to the edge of the table so it can be picked up and he takes a drink of the water filled glass.
Sarah Connor has posed:
This could be easy..

Or after he learned what she wanted, they would be back to this. Either way..

"Okay. I want to know about your portals." Sarah sat back while she waited for his answer.
Blackout has posed:
"My portals? That's pretty easy. The simple of it is that I open a gateway into a pocket dimension - called the Darkforce Dimension, step in, cross a short distance within that dimension, open another gateway, and step out. Distances within the pocket dimension are tighter than in the prime material plane - which is where we are now. So, imagine the distance between New York and Los Angeles is around 2700 miles. But in the Darkforce Dimension, it's a whole lot closer. About a hundred or so yards. Which can be made even tighter and reduced if I try hard enough." he answers in layman's terms, keeping it sweet and simple.
Sarah Connor has posed:
Sarah frowns as he explains. "What about time travel? Or interdimensional travel? Do they work?" And more to the point: how could Sarah use it to her own advantage?
Blackout has posed:
There's a shake of his head. "Nope. There's no time factor. It's just spatial. The only time factor would be time zones. So if you want to step into the future, I can take you to New Zealand where it's tomorrow. If you want to go into the past, I'll take you to Hawaii where it's in the past." and he smiles at his stupid little time zone joke.
Sarah Connor has posed:
"Damn." Sarah dropped her eyes for just a moment. "There's gotta be something in there that I could use.. " Then looking up, she queries, "You're a scientist, yes? How do they.. I mean, they are from the future. How can they forget the law of physics that way? The only thing I have come up with is nuclear physics."

"You know, like The Philadelphia Experiment." As was blowing them up with nukes at ground zero.

For a moment Sarah let down her guard.
Blackout has posed:
He sees she's struggling with something, but doesn't want to pry. She comes across as dangerous or unstable. And best he keep his distance. He states with a shake of his head, "The Philadelphia Experiment. While I'd love to believe that was a real thing. I'm pretty sure it's straight up fiction." Then he notes, "There are rumors of people living amongst us that are from different time periods. But again, those claims seem suspect. Theoretically, time travel would take an ungodly amount of power. Something we don't normally generate. It's also something for the Reed Richards and Tony Stark(s) of our world. They're way smarter than all of us combined. If it can be done, they'd know how to do it. Now... there's a way to time travel into the future using Einstein's general relativity and speed. For example: You get on a space ship and travel really fast away from the Earth. And by fast, I mean a high percent the speed of light. You do this for a few years, turn around, come back, and a ratio of time will have passed. Depending on the speed you traveled, it could be 1:10. So, for every one year passing for you, 10 or more could be passing in space. The faster you go, the more time would pass."
Sarah Connor has posed:
"No shit Sherlock. I've met them."

Sarah was not crazy - even though she had stayed (against her will) in a crazy asylum. For nearly three years. Breaking out was just one of the things that she was wanted for.

"I know that the Philadelphia Experiment is a fiction. But do you honestly believe that the government tells us everything? Come on, we've got mutants, and magic users all over the place."

"These guys - the ones I am talking about, are from the future. And they do use something like portals to access here. I can't figure out how they communicate with the future. It's near instantaneous." She laughs at the names he mentions. "You've got to be kidding? They would have me arrested faster than you could say smile for a picture."
Blackout has posed:
There's a bit of tension that rises in Marc as Sarah becomes verbally confrontational and touches upon government conspiracies. He tries to repress the look of concern. He takes a moment to process her statement. "Communication with the future should be instantaneous if you have a reliable means of documentation." He looks around the tabletop and then to the wall next to them. "So, I could carve Marc, heart sign.." then he pauses to think and then chooses a 'random name'. "..Willow. In this wall. It's concrete and will last decades, if not centuries. So, as long as no one demolishes this building the people in the future could find it. So, it would be seemingly instant. And, if the future people have time travel capabilities into the past, they could respond with what would also seem instant. So, if a person in the past wanted reliable communication, they would have established a thing in the future that still stands, or can be buried in a place. Then when they come into the past, use that a means of communication."
Sarah Connor has posed:
"These are computers. Not random heart signs." Sarah sighs. "And it is back and forth. Not one way. You think I'm crazy, don't you? It's alright. Apparently I have made a mistake in asking you to help."

Which, of course, she wasn't surprised. She smiles a fake smile. "I guess we've got nothing to talk about."
Blackout has posed:
Marc slide out of the booth. "Sorry I wasted your time." and will stand to move away from the brooding chaos. He's clearly going to check himself for trackers and get the fuck away. He needs to vacation on that island he found.
