SUPER!
Date of Scene: 30 March 2023
Location: Lobby, Titans Tower
Synopsis: Superman and Conner have a good semi-dad semi-son talk.
Cast of Characters: Superman, Superboy

Superman has posed:
Flying to Titans Tower, Superman is expecting to speak to Supergirl. However, fate has other plans. Conner would recognize the sound of someone in flight. The distinct sound of something small cutting through the sound barrier, but far smaller than any personal craft capable of such speeds. The object slows and starts to descend.

What is a red and blue blur comes into focus. Superman floats downward to land upon the roof. Those sky blue eyes looking about. He's had a few meetings with the Titans lately.

Superman doesn't know Superboy's whereabouts. However, that may change really quick. Waiting upon the roof, he doesn't enter the building unless a member of the Titan's invites him. It's a respect for the the team, their base and other boundaries.
Superboy has posed:
Conner was down and heard the monitor alarms going off, letting them know that someone was flying in the vicinity. Superman isn't exactly hard to recognize, at leats in this appearance, and Conner's eyebrows go up. Been a while since he's seen the big guy. Wonder what's up.

He lets himself out a side portal and flies up to the roof, wearing just his jeans and S-emblem t-shirt on black, hands in his pockets as he lands.

"What's up, Big Blue?"
Superman has posed:
"Little Blue," Superman responds back to Superboy. Looking over the outfit, "I like the shirt." His gaze goes back over the horizon, "If you ever want a different uniform, just ask."It's not a slight, Superman just doesn't want Superboy to feel like an outcast. Someone unwelcomed in the family. He's -very- welcomed.

"I came to talk to Supergirl about a project, but you would be a good candidate for it, too." While Superman may be neutral in his observations, he does think Superboy is uniquely qualified. It might be seen as biased, but Superman thinks he could blossom in the project.
Superboy has posed:
Conner naturally feels like an outcast. He isn't even sure he qualifies as a person sometime. He has some memories that were implanted, but he knows they're fake, so they're just like...weird dreams. And he just...started as a senior in high school, where he's going to stay probably...forever. Well, not in school. He ain't going to school. thish isn't 21 Jump Street.

Whatever that is.

"A project, huh? Sounds like a lot of work. Please tell me it isn't some sort of weird philanthropy. I am not good at shaking hands and kissing babies."
Superman has posed:
A chuckle comes from Superman, "No. That would only happen if you were Robin," he looks over the horizon.

"Supergirl, Wonder Woman and myself have been talking about a joint project. I've been going around speaking to heroes about the Justice League. One thing is apparent, there are younger heroes with potential, but no training. I don't want them to fall through the cracks. Neither does Wonder Woman and Supergirl," he looks at Superboy and speaks honestly.

"We both know legacies can be daunting. Something hard to shake off or move out of," and he says that with honest regret. Superan hates that he casts a big shadow. That was never in his plans about being a hero.

"I think you could help these heroes. Help them be their own people, their own hero. It's the same thing I want for you, too." He looks over the horizon, "Be your own Superman when the day comes. I think this could help with that."
Superboy has posed:
Conner keeps his hands in his pocket, but flushes a bit as Superman speaks of the possibility of him picking up that legacy someday. he has mixed feelings about it - he wants to be his own man, yes. And since his aging is stunted, will he ever be able to be a real man, the way Superman is?

He doesn't say any of these for now and keeps his face in that diffident, too-cool blue steel thing he does with his jaw and his eyes and that smirk.

"I don't mind giving advice. I know I've never been very good at taking it myself. Guess I'm hard-headed," he says.

"So does this project have a name or an organization or is it just a...suggestion you guys are making around?"
Superman has posed:
Superman can understand Superboy's struggles onceptually. What he clings to is the alone part. Being an orphan from an entire planet, he understands the isolation part personally.

"Yes. You are, but Ma would say the same about me when I was younger," probably not as much by comparison, but Superman had his moments.

"What's the suggestion?" he asks. There's genuine curiousity with the question.
Superboy has posed:
Conner considers, "I mean...suggesting that, like, established heroes try to mentor up and comers. Like, teach 'em and stuff. Almost sounds like it should be a school, but how do you even do that? And the last thing I wanna do is go to school! The best part of being me is that I didn't have to!"

Con realizes he may have, proverbially, boned himself by suggesting this kind of thing. The last thing he wants to do is be responsible.

"Kinda wish I had a ma," he says softly. "I mean, it'd be weird cause she'd be, like, a pod attached to a gene-mixing thingamafu...uh, fudge."
Superman has posed:
"You'd be the teacher, or a Teacher," Superman points out trying to sell the school concept if that's what it turns into. Sky blue eyes looking at her. "You would be doing the teaching and giving out homework, not doing it," again, just trying to sweeten that concept.

"You still could. Ma and Pa would welcome you like they did Kara. All you have to do is show up," he looks at Superboy. Then he sighs.

"You never asked for anything. But you're here. Anything I can do to help you, I will. I promise," he admits honstly. Superman doesn't feel guilty, but there is an obligation to help mold Superboy. Just try to help him be himself, learn what its' like to be an individual.
Superboy has posed:
Conner gives a shrug, "Yeah, well...it ain't like you owe me nothin'. I'm basically a crime committed against you, man. Just a walking theft, stolen DNA. Evil science or whatever. I dunno. Feels weird. Like, I want it and all, but it feels like I'd be playin' pretend with somebody else's family, y'know? No offense, I know...I...shit...I just mean...I appreciate that you don't just, like, kick my ass every time you see me. Much less, like, invitin' me over for dinner. That's what I would do, if I were you. But that's the other weird thing - I'm not exactly you. I'm different. Part of...him is in me, too," he says.

"I'm just sayin', I don't...you shouldn't trust me. I don't trust me."
Superman has posed:
Superman looks at Superboy, "You wouldn't be playing pretend. They would be like your Grandparents. And who do you think helped me with my powers?" Superman asks Superboy honestly. It's something the teen hasn't figured out.

"And no. I don't want to beat you. Your creators, yes. That's just because what they did to you is cruel," he says not even thinking of himself in that equation. Yes, Superman has been violated. However, it created Superboy. Someone that is a bigger victim than Superman.

A hand goes to Superboy's shoulder, "You're your own person, but I trust that person. I trust you'll make that right choice. It's why I'm proud you wear," and he'll nod to the "S" symbol on Superboy's chest.

"I can trust you enough for the both of us."
Superboy has posed:
Conner feels the hand on his shoulder and almost trembles, just for a second, before that teenage superego pushes back and doesn't let him do more than flush a little from it. He feels vulnerable now and it makes him anxious. He's not used to feeling this way, but even he knew that Superman was...well, Superman.

"I could try, I guess," he says. "I don't know, I just get so...angry sometimes and I don't even know why."
Superman has posed:
"You're angry. You were created with no true past, that only comes later. You had a lot of powers thrust upon you just by existing. No one asked you," Superman sighs and he looks at Superboy. "That's why I feel bad. It's my fault a lot of that weight is on your shoulders, because I had a similar weight put on mine. It's something I wouldn't wish on anyone," he admits and shakes his head.

"It's why I want to make sure you have -every- advantage I did. More than I did, too," he says knowing that burden Superboy feels.
Superboy has posed:
Conner nods, "I believe you. Which makes you different than...it doesn't matter. Part of me wonders if it's dangerous. You already have your enemies and I've made a few of my own to add to the mix. I don't want to drag trouble to their door. When I did meet them, briefly, they were...very nice."

"I don't want you to feel bad. None of it's your fault. But maybe it isn't mine either. I still want to punch somebody about it."
Superman has posed:
"Superboy has enemys. The man outside of the costume, doesn't. Think aoubt it," Superman says suggesting a secrety identity could be in order. "They also know a few things, just in case," he says just trying to assuage Superboy. "I can always give you some space and time to think about it? I did put a lot on your plate today."
Superboy has posed:
Conner keeps his eyes down, "I guess I don't really know who I am outside of the costume yet. Well, I know this really isn't a costume. I liked the one I had at first, but it was so...tight and, look, I got a nice butt, I ain't afraid o' that, but just having it all out there like that. I can see why you wear the cape. But I also think a cape looks weird on me," he shrugs. "Just...maybe gimme a call next tie you're goin' home for a visit and...maybe I'll come."
