Poolside on a Sunny Day
Date of Scene: 12 April 2023
Location: Swimming Pool - Xavier's School
Synopsis: Politics and Burgers.
Cast of Characters: Warpath, Polaris

Warpath has posed:
James can be found by the grill, doing grill things. He's holding tongs as he's standing in front of the open outdoor kitchen grill. Currently his 7'2" frame is sporting a pair of black tight shorts and that's it. His chest/back and feet are bare. His long black hair is tied back in a leather binding to trail down his enormous back. To his left on the counter is a oversized silver cup filled with some form of soda that he lifts and takes a drink from through a bright red straw. He's cooking hamburger patties. Many of them. And there is a plate to his left with many more uncooked. While to his right there is a platter to received the cooked ones.

It's a bright sunny day and all seems well, for now. No sentinels attacking, no brotherhood being jerks, no yetis hiding behind trees. Just James grilling.
Polaris has posed:
Lorna Dane -arrives- at the pool, dressed for the sun. She is wearing a string bikini (green), wide-brimmed floppy hat (also green), and oversized sunglasses (green frames). A towel is draped over one shoulder, and she looks over towards the grill while spreading the towel over a lounge chair.

"Hello, James. Are we expecting an invasion of students, or are you just hungry?" she asks, settling slowly.
Warpath has posed:<br
"Both." answers James as he turns to address, admire, and recognize Lorna's presence. "Lunch is coming up and I got voluntold to make burgers." He offers a subtle grin regarding the context of his situation. "But it's all good." Then he asks, "Are you hungry?" with a slight wave toward the grill with the tongs.
Polaris has posed:
Lorna settles back comfortably, stretching her long legs out. She offers a small smile. "That's a lot of beef." the woman declares. "But I'll do my part, if you have one ready. Anything in the cooler?" Before he can answer, she opens the lid with a casual gesture.
Warpath has posed:
The cooler opens to reveal lots of ice, beer, soda, and bottles of water. There are also other things on the countertop that James starts to assemble, hamburger wise (romaine, cheese, onions, pickles, sesame seed buns, tomatoes, sauerkraut, mustard, ketchup, mayo... and chips on the side. As he does, he notes, "It'll just take a sec. Anything you /don't/ want on it?"
Polaris has posed:
Lorna's fingers curl and a beer can eases up out of the ice. She opens her hand and it floats slowly over. "Oh, drag it through the garden, please. Ketchup and mustard." She watches him, catching the beer absently and popping the tab with a glance. "So do I need to ask who delegated this to you?"
Warpath has posed:
"Piotr asked that I help out. He's overwhelmed by helping Forge or something. Maybe Hank. Not sure. Probably Blackbird refitting. Who knows. I'm just glad to help where I can. I sometimes feel that I don't contribute enough to the way this place works. Sure, I'll lift this, haul that, move something really heavy. But in all, I just feel under used. You ever get that?"
<br
James gives the completed burger to Polaris before turning back to the grill and begins moving cooked patties to the platter, filling it up.
Polaris has posed:
"I know what you mean, sometimes." Lorna replies. "I mean, in -my- situation I get a lot of sidelong looks, people actively avoiding me, not making eye contact. That sort of thing." She shrugs lightly. "Of course my father probably has a lot to do with that."
Warpath has posed:
"The sins of your father are not yours." James states as he covers the full platter, closes the lid on the grill to let it warm back up, and then he takes the platter in his left hand and turns to address Lorna again, "You are no different than you were when we first met - years ago. Prior to anyone's knowledge of your lineage."
Polaris has posed:
Green lips curl into a wry smile at that, the woman accepting the plate. "The definition of 'sins' is somewhat subjective, as well." she replies. "There are at least three sides to every story, I'm discovering. His side, their side, and the truth... which is usually somewhere in the middle. Of course your mileage may vary depending on driving conditions." She takes a bite of the burger, managing to keep the droppings on the plate. "And thank you for the vote of confidence."
Warpath has posed:
There's a subtle shake of his head with a disappointed expression. But he drops the subject and says, "I've got to take this inside." indicating the platter. "And a lot more to cook. I'll be back.". He moves off to head inside and deliver the burgers.
