Let It Be Known
Date of Scene: 26 April 2023
Location: Some street somewhere
Synopsis: A failed robbery turns into a VERY failed robbery!
Cast of Characters: Arana, Wonder Woman

Arana has posed:
There's something almost normalized about this situation. A group of guys surrounding a girl, and her ...let's call it a boyfriend...in the end of a blind alley. Really it's almost to the point that people should know to avoid alleyways and gang territory. By this point in history. Or comics.

"I saw it," Anya says as she gets up from her coffee. She nods to the lady across the table from her, who she -really- was hoping to have some uninterrupted time with. "You relax, I can handle this one."

And if it were anyone other than Wonder Woman that she were meeting up with, that might almost fly. But we all know that it won't, regardless of how well Anya's going to do.

She glances at the staff, then says, "Here's my wallet as collateral. I'll be right back." Then she's hopping the little decorative fence, heading toward the alley and the guys who are clustered up there.

She'd called on Diana for a meetup, but...well. Not going well at all.
Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana Prince watches and frowns at the situation developing outside. The frown changes to raised brows as Ana decides she can handle this alone - or that Diana will not assist. The brows rise further as the wallet is offered over. No sooner than the wallet has changed hands and Ana has hopped over the fence then the wallet has changed hands once again. Diana claims it from the bewildered server. "I. Will hold only this. And my word will be your collateral. I will return the moment this is resolved and will pay in full." If anyone could be considered Good For It, it would be Diana.

Rising up, still dressed in street clothes, the Amazon follows Ana though at a walking pace. She has seen the situation and she does not believe it will escalate to the point of emergency before she arrives.

But she has been known to be wrong before.
Arana has posed:
In the alleyway:

"She's cute. I call dibs on the girl." "I like him, he's kinda cute too." That's another guy, and the fact that they're not sticking to just beating and robbing the couple is concerning. But that is, of course, the moment that Anya decides to speak up.

"Not judging you on liking guys, dude, but you might want to just let them go. Like, now. This moment." She's just arrived behind them, listened for a second, and seems to be unarmed. There's another lady across the street heading this way, but the thugs really don't look plussed. Nonplussed is a word, right?

Anya will google it later.

"You volunteering to be in here instead?" one asks. Which is new, usually the thugs just tell heroes to eff off, or grab them and add them to the pile.

So, when Anya frowns and says, "Okay, sure! Let them go, I'll step in. You're free, kids."

The thugs blink, then the leader grins. He upnods, and the two victims flee safely. Then Anya walks into the midst. Trapped.
Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana Prince is slower to the scene because she was securing Anya's wallet. Which is safely tucked into the pocket of her dress pants. Because casual for Diana is anything not involving her armor. And denim is simply too constricting. Someone should introduce her to the new blends with lycra. She may never go back.

Arriving as the two former victims make a wise and hasty exit, Diana looks to the situation now. She is not afraid for Anya's safety, she knows what the young woman can do. Still, she isn't going to let Anya deal with this by herself.

"Whatever you plan to do, you will reconsider and go to your homes instead. Now." The voice is quiet, the tone is calm and confident. A measure of authority that few could carry let alone succeed in getting others to take seriously.

Now whether any of them do? That remains to be answered.
Arana has posed:
The guy who let the others go turns, again, and throws his hands into the air. "Am I ever gonna get this done?" he asks, turning his eyes on Diana. "Git yourself gone, lady. Unless you wanna get on your knees like this bitch is gonna."

Behind them, Anya's eyebrows raise. "I'm going to what, exactly?" She doesn't look nearly frightened enough for their likings, so one of them turns to Anya and slams her back to a wall, his hands on her shoulders, and snarls in her face. Bit of spittle, too.

Anya pauses to wipe her face. "Damn. My mouth was open."
Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana Prince looks to Anya then back to the man, "Little boy. Take your hands off of the -lady-" meaning Anya. "For every following second you delay, a bone in your hand will be broken. At my discretion."

She isn't looking at the man trying to pin Anya, she is meeting the gaze of the man telling her to leave. So who is she threatening?
Arana has posed:
The guy's response is to pull Anya back, then to slam her into the wall HARDER. Or that was the plan anyway, Black Canary has made absolutely certain that Anya is prepared for the obvious shit. Like, chokeholds.

The guy facing Diana? He crosses his arms at her arrogance, and says, "Who you den? Wonder Woman?" The guys around him laugh, and one of them walks up to her, face to face. And reaches out to grab Diana around the shoulders.

That's when the guy holding Anya starts to scream. "She broke mah hand!"

Well, Di did warn him.
Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana Prince did warn. It wasn't a warning that Anya would do the breaking. But when in Rome.

When the man tries to grab her by the shoulders, she simply isn't there. Like water, she flows around him. It is smooth and effortless, leaving him to swipe at empty space.

Standing behind him, now, she has yet to lay a finger on the man. "I am, yes." Wonder Woman. Whether they believe her, or not, it won't change the reality that they are all in trouble.
Arana has posed:
The guy who tried to grab Diana stumbles, then falls over. Normal people do that, I'm told. He gets back up fast enough but he's still put on the back foot for a bit, and Diana finds herself semi-surrounded by others.

One of which tries to boot her in the center of the back, holding back not at all. Which means that he's off balance and vulnerable.

Anya? She's on the one who attacked her's back now, and is biting him viciously. HE seems to regret his actions at least.

We'll get back to her in a bit.
Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana Prince focuses on those around her but she doesn't seem concerned for herself. "Anya? Please do not bite these men. You do not know where they have been." Wonder Woman slinging insults? Maybe she has been away from the Island too long.

As the jackbooted attack comes in from behind, it hits her. But she does not go anywhere. It has been said that not even Batman can 'go through' her when she has set her mind to the matter.

The jarring impact against what should be a woman whose weight is not enough to resist the attack surely catches the man by surprise. More so when Diana turns and he finds her holding his booted ankle, starring at him with.. pity?

"You shame yourself." Then she shames him, herself, by picking him up off the ground by that ankle, dangling him in front of his would be allies like a ragdoll.

She looks to the man that seems to be the leader. "You are no leader of men. You are a leader of cowards. Here. I return him to you."

The throw is effortless, the man flailing through the air toward the gang leader.
Arana has posed:
When you insert a bowling strike sound effect, it's generally an appropriate use of the file. This would be one of those times. The guys don't even react, save to cover their faces with their hands. An automatic reaction, one that humans have always had so long as there has been humans.

So are the shouts that come when they topple over, their comrade doing much more good now as a projectile than he was as a stomper. Two of them get up, to run away. Another looks confused as he stands, then tries to help his friends up. There just isn't many left now, not with the two that are fleeing the scene.

Anya has managed to get hers to the ground now, his right arm torqued up behind his back. He's shouting, but it's mostly pleading for mercy.

"Aw, I wanted more than one of them," she says as she gives the guy one more tug. He doesn't like it. "Did you grab my wallet?"

Then she lets go of the guy by standing on her hands, and walking herself over to her feet. She makes it look easy.

The guy whimpers and tries to join the fleeing teammates. Which is probably fair.
Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana Prince walks over to the leader as he struggles to get up after failing to catch his lackey. "Reconsider your life choices. Find ways to make a positive impact upon your community instead of contributing to the suffering. You can be better than this. Now take the rest of your little boys and go. Consider what you have been told. The next time we meet, I will be most disapponted if you have not improved your lives."

Sent to the time out corner by a maternal figure. It'll either work or it will galvanize their resentment of authority and they'll continue their criminal behavior.

Looking to Anya, she nods. "Yes. It was reckless of you to leave your valuables behind with a stranger, dear."

Mentally dismissing the gang leader by turning away from him, Diana walks over to Anya, offering her a hand up with her left, and offering the wallet in her right once the other woman is back on her feet.
Arana has posed:
Anya was already on her feet, having walked herself up. But she takes the hand anyway, eyes on the guys as they leave. They do leave, just to be clear. Or else.

But when they have, she turns to Diana. "It's custom. If you have to leave and can't pay, you leave something of value to ...I mean, it was where I was brought up. Anyway." She takes the wallet back, looking embarrassed, and runs her other hand through her hair.

She pauses, something to say, but she shakes her head and looks away.
Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana Prince smiles, "I understand the custom. I left my good word and reputation so that you did not need to leave your personal identification." Once it is handed back she smiles. "I admire your choice."

Seeing the look away, Diana tilts her head, "You wish to say more? You are able to speak freely with me, Anya. I will not judge. Shall we return to our table and we can talk where we are more at ease?"
Arana has posed:
Anya looks around, seeing the lack of anyone to fight, and nods. The half-shrug is all youth, she's still got issues with being immature. But don't say that out loud, the young never take it well. Then she says, "You didn't even let me try..."

But, that's clearly not all of it. She's having troubles making herself clear.
Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana Prince tilts her head in puzzlement. Then she realizes. "I.. stepped in before you could demonstrate that you are more than capable of handling such situations yourself."

After a moment she sighs and nods. "Yes. You are right. And I apologize. I was not seeking to prevent you from doing so. I wished to be a good team mate and friend. To assist. And I should have recognized that to be both of those things, I should have let you handle the situation for yourself. I am sorry, Anya."
Arana has posed:
Ana Corazon sits, but she shifts a little bit. Uncomfortable. "It's not that. Or not just that. I mean, I want you there. I want to learn from you, more than anything!" She nods vigorously, then bites her lip. "It's just, I mean..." Yikes.

"If you can't see what I can do, you can't judge or help me improve. I also, I mean, I want your support. I wouldn't have been able to take all of them without backup, I know that. I'm not stupid. I guess...it's complicated."

Wonder Woman apologizing to me? Yikes again. "Don't. You did right, I'm just being emotional."
Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana Prince smiles softly, reaching out to touch the younger woman's shoulder. "Anya? I have seen what you are capable of. I trust you implicitly, already. If there is more that you would have me know, I would welcome training with you soon. So that we can learn to work together efficiently and with complimentary methods." She smiles, "I would invite you to the Embassy. We have a training space prepared. You would be most welcome any time."

Shaking her head, she adds softly. "I must. I did not give you freedom to work. And for that I apologize. But you do not need to apologize for being emotional. We all have emotions. We should embrace them, mindfully."
