Date of Scene: 05 May 2023
Location: Queens Center Mall, Jackson Heights
Synopsis: Arnold Wesker (and Scarface in a case) runs into Danny Rand and Elektra Natchios shopping for phones for Scarface's gang. Hilarity...?
Cast of Characters: Ventriloquist (Wesker), Iron Fist, Elektra

Ventriloquist (Wesker) has posed:
it's the start of the evening and it's dark out. That's when they say the weirdos come out. Traveling in a black sedan, driven by a large man with a brimmed fedora, is Arnold Wesker, a balding man looking in his mid forties. He is wearing a black suit today, with a red tie and white undershirt. He pats the side of a large case he drags with him, nervously fixes his bowtie and walks less than confidentially into the doors of the mall.

The man is apparently traveling from phone store, to phone store. Why? Even criminal organizations need methods to communicate, and Scarface isn't shelling out for the super value mega plan. Wesker has been told to find something cheap and reliable. He looks down to his case and says.

"I don't know Mister Scarface. This plan seems like a rip off."

"I heard! 'Dis here plan is a rip off! Check 'da other dealers, dummy." whispers from the case.

Wesker sighs and looks crestfallen and continues to the NEXT phone store in the mall, standing out in front of it.
Iron Fist has posed:
Danny Rand was at the mall, doing some shopping. He had a couple of bags in one arm, something from Sephora and another from Abercrombie and Fitch. It wasn't clear what they were, as both bags were opaque, but the Sephora one seemed to have boxes inside, as they protruded against the bag, while the Abercrombie and Fitch looked to be more flexible, clothing perhaps. Danny wore simple yet stylish clothes, a dark green long sleeved button down shirt, which came to upper mid chest, the top three buttons undone, sleeves rolled up to his upper forearms, a brown strapped watch on his left hand, facing outward, and some kind of brown leather straps around his right. The shirt was un-tucked, and below that he wore well fitting blue jeans. He was just passing by a T-Mobile booth, when his own phone chirped, and he stopped, setting his bags down by his brown leather shoes, so he could answer the text with one of his own.
Elektra has posed:
It really is a nice cool evening, and a little less busy at the mall this evening. A perfect day for shopping out while skipping the big crowds. And she heard there are some hidden sales at some of her favorite stores.

Elektra isn't usually one to fuss over such petty things as shopping and clothing, but even a mercenary can do with a break once in a while, and some of her clothes were getting a bit worn.

And of course her phone somehow got damaged in her last..Skirmish. So she is also searching for a Koodoo phone store to repair the cracked screen..As luck would have it, she's headed in the same general direction as two other people, at least one of whom is vaguely familiar as she turns the corner, ever vigilantly scanning the crowds ahead of her.
Ventriloquist (Wesker) has posed:
Arnold Wesker steps out of the next store. He looks too flustered and seems to be scooching away from the shop post haste. What happened in there. There's a 'heh heh heh' coming from inside the case. During the escape from apparent embarrassment he accidently collides straight with one of the bags on the ground by Danny.

This makes him trip, sending him flying downwards. His case forward, and it slides across the floor a couple feet away.

"OW. WATCH IT DUMMY." goes the case.

Arnold Wesker flails for the case and latches his fingers knuckle tightening hard against the handle as he picks it up. When this is done. he turns around.

"Oh. We're.. we're those your b-b-bags?" he asks the stranger. "S-sorry."

He fixes his bowtie. He adjusts his skewed glasses. He does not address the talking trunk. If he sees Elektra, he hasn't noted this yet.
Iron Fist has posed:
Danny Rand was looking at his phone. He was texting someone. His attention was elsewhere. But he wasn't so oblivious that he had no peripheral vision. He saw Arnold Wesker approach, as the man's case and feet came into his field of view. It was too quick to have much of a reaction, not enough to step out of the way, or dodge it. Malls were noisy, with background noise, and he wasn't in the mental state to be focusing on his senses. This was casual Danny.

And Wesker had managed to miss Danny, going close enough to catch a case and trip, but not enough to actually bump into Rand. On instinct, Danny reached out to try and arrest the fall, but was too late. Plus, Wesker went flying backwards, rather than forwards or to the side.

He heard the noise coming from the case, well, not noise, but words. Wesker flailed and went to get the case back under his control, and Rand, slipping his phone into his pocket, offered a hand to help the man up, "are you all right, sir?"

"It's quite all right, no harm done, but are you okay?"
Elektra has posed:
Elektra sighs a bit as she sees the long line-up outside the phone store. But something else catches her attention. A tall man with a talking briefcase. Hmm. Was he on her hit list or...?

She pauses, watching the fiasco with mild amusement. Until she realizes who he bumped into and frowns a bit, stepping towards Danny, moving to grab one of his bags although he's fast enough to avoid the crash. "Hey there stranger, been a while." She greets with a slight smirk. "how you been?"

Dark eyes slide over towards the tall guy as he utters an apology, but she's more interested in that briefcase. "Talking briefcase huh. Is that animatronic, or magical?" she seems mildly amused.
Ventriloquist (Wesker) has posed:
Arnold Wesker continues to hold the case tight. Danny doesn't ask about the talking case. That's fine. Wesker doesn't wanna answer hard questions. He hates hard questions. He rarely knows what anyone asks him about anyways. He answers. "Y-yes, I'm fine. I'm just... fine!" he says. He goes to try to extricate himself from talking when...

Elektra shows up. Oh no. She's asking about his case. "Oh. That's...where I keep..."

"PHONE." goes the case, in it's gruff voice.

"Y-yes, that's my cell phone and my boss is on it. I am-- we are-- looking for phone plans!" he says as he starts to just sweat. Like he's afraid to be caught in what's not even a lie.
Iron Fist has posed:
\Danny Rand didn't know Elektra Natchios well, but he did know her, both professionally and privately, given that they had run into each other in heroic attire, his mask covered, and outside, as both were members of the wealthy elite. Plus, Elektra was not the kind of woman that was easily forgotten. "Hello," he greeted with his boyish charm, "we just had a bit of a hiccup, really," referring to the collision in fairly nice terms.

It was kind of amusing that Arnold and his case were having a bit of a conversation. Danny didn't really know what to make of it, but he was polite enough not to inquire. Elektra on the other hand, went straight to it. It didn't look like Wesker would be getting in line for the T-Mobile, as Elektra had gotten out of the queue, and it was quite long, "which ones have you looked at so far, Mister...?"
Elektra has posed:
Elektra peers intently at the talking briefcase, then back to Arnold, seemingly sizing him up, searching for...Something. Hmmm.. "Oh. That's quite a fancy phone, isn't it? One that can talk back to you? Is that a new Alexa feature or something?" she continues to eye him with mild amusement.

Danny is given a nod, likewise, she does not know him well, but has decided he is an interesting character and a worthy opponent, one she would rather not make an enemy out of, which is hard, given her line of work, sometimes..
Ventriloquist (Wesker) has posed:
Arnold Wesker says. "Yes, that..."

"Alexa 'ding. Whateveas you called it." says the case.

Arnold keeps his head on straight and wipes his brow with his sleeve. Alright Arnold, he thinks. Nothing bad is going to happen. You're going to say 'you need to go' and then leave. One. Two. Three.... "OH, I've been to every store up until this point!" he suddenly blurts out instead of doing what he was thinking. Oh way to go. Good job.

He removes a bunch of brochures from within his suit jacket to show and then shoves them back in. See. Proof! He really was phone shopping.

He doesn't seem to recognize either of the two people. So that's.... good? Bad? Scarface can only hear right now in the case. "I need to find something in my budget. A lotta people at the uh... uh..."

"'Company'." says the voice from the case.

"Company." confirms Wesker. "I work for."
Iron Fist has posed:
This would be funny, if it weren't so dangerous. They were dealing with a sociopath, they just didn't know it. Or whatever his diagnosis was. Certainly someone who could benefit from psychiatric help. From Danny's perspective, there were unanswered questions, but he seemed harmless enough. Just a man with low confidence, and a high degree of stress. So, ever the teacher, Danny said, "just breath, in through the nose, out through the mouth, nice and gentle, in, and out."

Finally picking up his bags, Danny would stand there, regarding Elektra and the stranger, and then decide to introduce himself. "By the way, my name is Danny, and this is Elektra." No surnames, they might frighten the man if he recognized their companies.
Elektra has posed:
Elektra can't help but chuckle at Arnold's antics, even though her gaze never leaves his face. "Well, isn't that fun..Perhaps I should buy one of those models too..Seeing as my phone is not workin--"

She is interrupted by her own phone beeping, and peering down at a text causes her relaxed expression to tense slightly. "Hmm..It seems I have another appointment to tend to..Excuse me.." She nods to the two of them, more of a slight bow even before she turns and hurries off, quickly vanishing in the crowds.
Ventriloquist (Wesker) has posed:
Oh, this would be super dangerous if anyone called Wesker out right this moment. But right now. Everyone is safe. Everyone is having fun. Everyone is shopping. Arnold Wesker does as he's asked and breathes through his nose and out the mouth and he answers the question that wasn't implicitly asked, but inferred.

"O-ooh. My name is. Arnold. You can call me.. uhm. Arnold!" he says. He does not introduce his boss.

He's still gripping the case tightly, however, as he scratches one of his tufts of white hair. "Uhm. I should... go..."

"Arnold's busy!" says the voice from the case. "Right!?"

"R-right. Busy. I need to go. S..sorry about the bags again. Danny, was it? Danny. then. Goo-- goodbye!" he says as he tries to hurriedly shuffle away momentarily with his case.
