Cast of Characters: Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter

Wonder Woman has posed:
One of the things the Justice League encourages is citizen activity. If someone sees a crime or injustice, they should say something or step in and take action to stop it; or at the very least contact the authorities so that those best suited can handle it.

But what happens in the gray areas? Those where something is, well, 'not right' but not exactly _illegal_?

Witness: Diana. Wonder Woman. Princess and Ambassador of Themyscira and the Amazons.

She is still dressed in her iconic armor after spending much of the day leading educational tours and question/answer sessions with tour groups and school field trips.

Her last tour was just ten minutes ago. She dared to slip out of the building to obtain a very large, very strong cup of coffee from her favorite coffee shop. She is seated alone in the Observatory level, caffeine fix in one hand and a powdered sugar dusted jelly filled donut in the other. If the contented expression on her features is any indication, she is quite unrepentant of her actions.

It's nothing illegal. It's not even unhealthy if exercised with moderation. But what does she intend for the other eleven assorted donuts in the box beside her?
Martian Manhunter has posed:
A long time.

J'onn J'onnz - The Martian Manhunter - Had seemingly taken up volunteer work beyond the stars. Many worlds do not have anything close to the level of protection that the earth has. The earth has Superman. Wonder Woman. The Avengers. Numerous members of the Green Lantern Corps.

So many other worlds need help. J'onn has been a beacon of hood shining across the stars. Bringing warlords, gangsters, intergalactic monsters, even corrupt leaders to Justice. Becoming his own hero away from the spotlight of earth.

Now was the time to come home. A suit colored completely black with a red X logo that covers much of him the chest. A dark blue cape hanging from the shoulders and pooling on the floor. Green skin covers an alien body, largely humanoid in appearance. Fed eyes watch Diana as he materializes into being. "Princess Diana."

The Martian offers a low bow.
Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana Prince knows that voice even before she sees his mystical arrival.

Her smile can be felt even in her tone.

"J'onn!" The look in her eyes shows amused exasperation at the honorific he used.

"As always it is good to see you. And as always, I am just 'Diana'." She does't expect that he will regularly use just her name, but it won't stop her from trying. There are times to pull out such titles but amongst friends? She is just Diana. Diana with a box of donuts and no one nearby she appears to have planned to share them with.

Setting her sugary indulgence (and the donut) down, she wipes off her fingers with a paper napkin before standing and moving toward J'onn.

The smile remains on her features as she approaches him. "Welcome back. Were your travels successful?" she asks as she spreads her arms to offer him a hug of greeting.
Martian Manhunter has posed:
J'onn was always serious. Diana was one of the few people who had such a way about her to make him laugh or smile. The honorific is something he freely gives her, understanding her position and importance to her people.

"I stand corrected. Thabk you. Mgjourney was largely successful. I fear I've garnered too much attention beyond the stars, but people seemed appreciative for the aid. I wish there were more of us who could patrol the universe." Sounds insane when he dares to put it so casually. Her arms spread wide and J'onn mimics her action to bring her into a tight, warm embrace. "It's good to see you too,Diana." Slowly releasing her, red eyes peer into her own. "I would ask you to bring me up to speed on what I have missed and how you are doing."
Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana Prince hugs him tightly. He is one of her friends she need not fear of squeezing too hard - not that she would try of course.

Smiliing she shakes her head, "It is alright."

Witha gesture she offers, "I am well. I have been giving tours to school children and sight seers for part of the day. Now that I am finished, I decided to celebrate with a treat." She flashes a briefly guilty smile before offering, "I have more than I rightfully need. Please help yourself if you wish." Inside the box of freshly made donuts are an assortment of styles and chosen toppings to choose from.

Moving back to sit down, Diana offers "SUrprisingly things have been less eventful than at other times. There have not been too many grave emergencies. There is a matter of armored androids recently that Kal reported. They appear to have been stolen, or turned on and broke out of an armored convoy recently. One of them attacked LexCorp although I am not briefed on any motivations that may have been determined from that." She pauses a moment, thinking. "I believe that there were three. I know of two that have been stopped. It seems likely that the other will reappear soon to go after their shared goals."

"Beyond that, I have been focused on my role as Ambassador primarily. Meetings. UN Sessions. Attempting to convince stubborn nations to become more open minded..." With a soft sigh she eyes the rest of her jelly donut. "Sometimes I think it would be easier to convince the Sun to stop rising every morning."
Martian Manhunter has posed:
Martians are quite physically comparable to Kryptonians. Diana need not fear any negative consequences for hugging J'onn too tightly. His shape shifting abilities paired with his body's natural polymerase structure and regenerative capabilities make him EXTREMELY difficult to meaningfully injure. But J'onn keeps her in that embrace until it's time to split apart.

"We have elected to turn the Hall of Justice into a...sightseeing location?"

Honest question. He didn't see the point of it one might dare a guess. "It is good for them to learn about us, I suppose. A great?" J'onn, in all of his strengths and flaws, hopes subtly that it will be Oreos. There's some kind of chemical in Oreos that drive Martians crazy for the stuff.

"Androids?" The question on J'onn's mind doesn't leave. Nor does he attempt to read Diana's kind for more information. "Strange. I will have to seek Kal-El to see what else may be discovered."

He follows her towards the searing and he nods softly. "It suits you. Yiu have always had an open mind and a patient demeanor. Yet surely, so long as you have an idea, there will always be another who opposes it."
Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana Prince wants to laugh at the absurdity of turning the Hall of Justice into a sightseeing location or a museum. She doesn't because she understands J'onn's point of view and it was a fair question given her earlier comments.

"No. Not a sightseeing location exactly. But, as you know, humankind looks up to those who are leaders. Those who try to protect them. It is a way to inspire the young and old alike. To let them learn a little about each of us and our unique histories. To show them that it is diversity that makes us stronger together. That shunning those who are different than ourselves helps no one."

"The Themysciran Embassy offers tours as well now. My mother. The Queen. She wishes for the rest of the world to have an opportunity to learn about our culture. To be inspired by the pursuit of knowledge and art and peace. It is not so different than what we try to share here about the League."

With a smaller smile she nods. "Androids. They seem to be rather powerful. Finding the last of the them quickly will be for the best."

As he speaks of her role as Ambassador suiting her she smiles. "It is a challenge, the UN. For all of its aspirations to bring the world together. To foster better communication. It is still a very political institution. It can be frustrating at times. But it is a venue that is important to maintain. For all of us."

That box of donuts has a variety of specialty flavors. And, indeed, one of them has oreo crumbles, chocolate icing and a oreo creme filling. It's like Diana had a sense J'onn would be here to enjoy it.
Martian Manhunter has posed:
"People have always looked up to those who can lead them. Diversity and different ways of life come together to strengthen us. Traditional and progressive, we require both. If only the Green and White Martians could come together in such a way."

The Martians have always treated other Martians by class based on appearance. Notably divisive, Mars has been a source of such grief for a long time.

A long look from J'onn as he views the Oreo-filled donut! His brows gently furrowing as the small meal item rises into the air and approaches him. "These seem delicious, Diana." But back to the task at hand. "Politics is difficult and lacking in mercy. Perhaps if would do well to think less of the individual and more of the whole."
Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana Prince nods in agreement. "It is no different with humanity. Those who are different are even now viewed with suspicion. Envy. Hatred. And so I continue to champion the values of peace and love and tolerance. One day I believe the message will be properly heard." She has hope. Without hope, what use is doing anything?

A smile cross her features as the donut floats its way toward J'onn. "I thought of you when I saw it. I did not know you would be returning to us but I am pleased to have a treat to offer you as a welcome."
Martian Manhunter has posed:
"I have seen it. The minds and the hearts...Misguided though some may seem. We suspect and earn the ire of those that are different..we often fear what we don't understand. The same is true for all creatures in the galaxy.

A dark truth.

"Yet hope remains that we may all cast aside old wounds and ignite new bonds of unity, friendship, and trust. Love is the only force in the galaxy that can save it. Earth is leagues ahead of some other species."

He looks at the donut and takes a bite, the chemical running through his senses and firing off synapses like fireworks. "Youthought of me, even when I was away?" He asks, as if touched by the sincerity of her thoughts. "I'm honored to be thought of. I fear I'm not too worthy of such."
Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana Prince nods along with the sentiment of fearing the unknown. "It is true. I wish that it weren't. We can only hope that our examples inspire others to reconsider their views."

As J'onn visibly enjoys the donut, she cannot help but smile.

"All of us did, in our own ways, J'onn. We understood why you needed to go, but each of us has looked forward to your return."

Touching his shoulder gently, she frowns. "That is untrue. You are more than worthy. You are an ally. And more than that. You are a friend."
Martian Manhunter has posed:
"Hope is enough."

Hopes always been enough. That small spark of hope is enough to change the very fabric of the world. If can change the hardest of hearts.

It did make J'onn feel special, as if he was truly missed. Diana was one who he valued deeply. Beautiful, powerful, intelligent, and a leader, J'onn always admired her qualities and to be appreciated so highly is flattering. He allows the contact, a soft smile growing on his face.

"You are kind to me."

A kindness that J'onn feels he doesn't deserve, but he takes pride in it regardless.
Wonder Woman has posed:
"It is" she says with an agreeing nod.

Dropping the hand away, she seeks out her coffee cup for another drink. Following it with another smile she offers, "I hope that I am. I try to be kind to everyone. More so to those who truly deserve it."

After a moment, she looks to him and asks, "What of your travels. DId you learn anything? Any news that we should be mindful of?"
Martian Manhunter has posed:
A bite of the donut and J'onn is making happy noises. Affirming and approving of the donut he enjoys, indulging in the taste and the satisfaction. He hasn't experienced this in...

Well, too long.

"It is easy for you. It is far more difficult for others to attempt the same. You have a natural ability to be charming. Over not met anyone similar to you." She asks of his travels. "The galaxy is a dangerous place. Mot every world has defenders like us." He admits with a frown.

"Nothing that earth needs concern over. The Green Lantern Corps does it's duty well, most bodies respect them and it allows my duty of a Manhunter to occur far easier. I have brought no dangers with me."
Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana Prince stares at J'onn for a moment then she flashes a knowing smile like she believes he is joking. She knows that he is aware of her history and nature. "Nothing is easier for me than it is for anyone else. I have my own insecurities and doubts. It is part of being a creature that depends upon social interaction and approval. It is true that I was blessed by the gods and given, perhaps, certain affinities. But none of that would mattter if I did not try to put the effort into being those things." She gestures absently with one hand. "There is truth in the saying: In order to have friends one must first be friendly."

Then she becomes serious as the conversation moves to discussion of his time away from Earth. "The Lanterns are a valuable source of peace keeping for all of the universe. We are all better and safer for their efforts." Then she smiles. "I would not believe that you did, only wonder about your experiences. I do not get beyond the planet or Olympus often enough."
Martian Manhunter has posed:
"Your nature makes you natural for your qualities, but you are not defined by them. You have a choice every day from rising and falling of the sun to decide whom you shall be. We are all fortunate you choose to be as you are." J'onn compliments Diana, aware of her apparent godhood and royalty.

"Should you wish to speak on such things, I shall be here to assist." Her insecurities and doubts.

"Indeed. There are...strange and wondrous things beyond the veil of our solar system. Beautiful and terrible, with technology that matches and/or surpasses much of what Earth has to offer."
