Cruisin' With The Wasp
Date of Scene: 10 July 2017
Location: Legion Cruiser, Outer Space
Synopsis: The Legion of Superheroes has Janet Van Dyne over for a guest dinner.
Cast of Characters: Triplicate Girl, Brainiac 5, Dream Girl, Wasp (van Dyne), Invisible Kid, Saturn Girl

Triplicate Girl has posed:
In her dress uniform, which included a fance high collared cape, Luorno had flown down to Earth at the appointed time, and, at Brainy's blessing, had gifted Janet with a key to the slip gate; a portal that would immediately bring someone directly to the Legion Cruiser. There was to be an informal dinner, briefing and meeting of the parties before the true assistance could begin.
All three Luorno's had been quite active up until then, making sure that the other Legion members knew, that proper food was set out, dishes of both Earth cuisine including blackened shrimp, sushi, onion rings, and fried okra (all of which she had tried recently) were available as well as more traditional food found in their own time. These had all been set out on a table provided.

Now, Luorno leads Janet back through the slip-gate, "So, really," she's explaining as they enter into the Cruiser through the pretty awesome portal, "The Legion is really quite vast. Those of us that are here are just a handful. But that's how we started out, too." There's a pause, as the singular girl offers a warm smile, and a gesture, "Welcome, to our home. Our ship. And, well, the path back to our time." She's quite proud of it.

Brainiac 5 has posed:
Brainy is standing at the head of the table, in his formal uniform which consists of a deep purple long-coat with a stiff collar piped with gold, and his family symbol set on the chest, also in gold; he has black trousers on that are tucked into high, formal gold boots. He's combed his hair back, which gives him an astonishingly prim air; downright Pre-Crisis.

And his nose is wrinkled. "K.O.K.O., the Spoo hasn't set right." A hovering drone near him chirps, and then he says, "Yes, best to get rid of it, replace it with the vat-grown fish protein in the Winathan herb sauce." He watches drones bustle in and out, until they return, carrying a new dish, which it sets out. Another drone is busy filling glasses with a shimmering, silvery liquid.

Dream Girl has posed:
Somewhat behind Luornu, Nura smiles to her as she follows behind her. "Thank you for coming, Janet. We'll truly appreciate this." She says softly to janet. "hopefully, I'll get a vision so we have a general idea where to look first."

Wasp (van Dyne) has posed:
Since it was the Wasp that Luorno and her friends were inviting to the (admittedly awesome) Cruiser, Janet had dressed for the occasion. She is in her current model of her costume, the black and yellow streamlined number that she has kept to using as of late. Though, with an amused thought, it is probably considered her classic uniform to her newfound friends.

Just as long as the ensemble with the pointed hood is lost to time.

As Janet steps through the gate...and onto the ship proper, she nods gently. "I...I could imagine. It sounds sorta like the Avengers. There seems to be a new team springing up almost everywhere. Even Wisconsin, for some reason." With that, she stifles a giggle as those eyes of hers scan the area. A nod is given to Nura as Janet finishes her acclimation. "Oh, it's my pleasure. Anything to get out of meetings." She tips a wink, then smiles bright. "Besides, this is a lot more entertaining than business dealings."

Invisible Kid has posed:
This is as close to formal as Lyle gets -- his uniform, and his brown jacket. Just a little fashion-challenged. Oh well, it's his job to not be noticed. "That would help," he remarks to Nura. "The molecular hunters were a wash, and unless Brainy did a few adjustments to the handheld scanner after I had it last, I'm not happy with it." He doesn't mention the third prong of the mad science brigade's efforts, that got its final test last night.
He raises his glass -- water, it appears -- by way of greeting to Janet as she pops through the gate.

Triplicate Girl has posed:
"Wasp, I'd like you to meet Brainiac 5, Invisible Kid, and of course, you already know Dream Girl. I'm not sure if Andromeda or Phantom Girl are going to be able to make it." She looks apologetic, "But, we thought we'd prepare some of our food that we're more used to eating, so it can be a sharing of cultures." She looks at Invisible Kid, "You -really- should try the onion rings. But don't hog them." Pointedly.
She then sits down at the table, after pulling out Janet's seat, telling Wasp, "You're welcome to return any time. We would consider you, now, an ally of the Legion. Should you need our help, you have but to ask for it."

Dream Girl has posed:
Nura Nal says, "Just call me Nura, Janet....since you're an ally. And Luornu.....I have Pizza made on here. Though I brought another Pizza up, just in case mine wasn't that good." She then stands next to brainiac 5."

Brainiac 5 has posed:
Brainy looks up, and gives a small smile. "Good evening, Miss van Dyne. Triplicate Girl, thank you for escorting our guest." He moves to turn aside an oval-shaped chair on his honored right, so Janet can sit.

"My name is Brainiac 5, and I'm the current leader of this branch of the Legion of Superheroes. Welcome to our cruiser. You've met Triplicate Girl, and Dream Girl," He nods to them both, "and the man trying his best to fade into the background is our deputy leader, Invisible Kid." He gestures, "I want to thank you for your willingness to help us. The area is under microscopic observation to make sure our saboteur doesn't get ideas about ruining dinner--"

"Please, have a seat." He waits for everyone to sit. The dishes have already been laid out, and Brainiac says, "If you'd like anything, please simply ask and one of K.O.K.O.'s drones will be happy to serve you. The Legion is a family, and we eat family-style."

"This drink is Silverale, the most popular recreational beverage of the 31st century. If you'd like water, or anything else, we will be happy to provide."

Wasp (van Dyne) has posed:
A nod is given in return to the current leader of the Legion. With a wry grin, Janet steps up to the oval chair, offering her own greetings before sitting. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Brainiac 5. And please, feel free to just call me Jan. Unless you hold just as fast to the callsigns that your compatriots do...then Wasp will do. Either way, please don't feel as if you need to be so formal with me." With a glance to the others with their uniforms, Jan quips, "It isn't often that I am underdressed for the occasion. I do believe this is a first."

As Janet takes her seat, she looks over the table...then to Nura and Luorno. "Pizza, onion rings, sushi and shrimp? It looks like you did your research for New York comfort foods. But...all of this just because I'm here? It is really too much."

Invisible Kid has posed:
"It's a good excuse for a party, if nothing else," Lyle remarks with a grin. The onion rings, not so much, but he's been reliably raiding the sushi tray. "Brainy's ri..." He stops, looks at Brainiac 5, and shrugs. "Brainy's *right*, he says, as though the combination of those two words tastes weird in his mouth. "We're all one big reasonably happy family."

Triplicate Girl has posed:
"Not just because you're here," Luorno laughs, just a little. "But, some of my friends have not yet had the pleasure to sample Earth cuisine either. Starfire started it, really. The brought us The Pizza. And I got curious, so I found a pub and tried a great selection. So I brought them up. I thought it would be a good time to share, with you coming aboard."
She nods to Lyle, musing, fondly, "Reasonably." She grins, slightly mischevious at him. "We'll take you on a tour of the ship afterwards."

Saturn Girl has posed:
Imra makes her arrival. She's gone formal, since the others have, in a white dress with pink accents on it. She smiles as she looks around at the gathering with a sheepish smile. <<So sorry to be late, everyone.>>

Dream Girl has posed:
Nura waves over to Imra, then strides over and gives her a hug. 'hey Saturn Girl!" She says before gesturing. "Saturn Girl, Janet Van Dyne."

Brainiac 5 has posed:
Brainy gives a small smile - both at the others, and at Imra, and at Lyle saying he was right -- all very PLEASANT, isn't it. He takes a sip of his silverale, and then he says, "Nonsense. You've agreed to help us out of the goodness of your heart, the least we can do is--" The fish dish is levered onto his plate by one of the hovering drones, "Thank you, K.O.K.O.--" He pauses, and then says, "The least we can do is put our best foot forward."

"Let me give you a little backstory on the Legion. I don't know what Triplicate Girl and Dream Girl told you already, so my apologizes if I'm covering old ground. We're from a thousand years in the future, give or take. Our organization is a sort of..." He thinks, "Chartered club that draws together individuals of exceptional abilities from across the galaxy. We're under the auspices of the United Planets, a sort of intergalactic government of which Earth is a member. Our role is to function as a supplement to law enforcement, disaster relief, emergency aid, and as a goodwill symbol. We have, unfortunately, found ourselves at odds with our home government more than once."

Then he adds, "Though we're known for our colorful costumes and our simplistic call-signs--by design, each of us is exceptional, even without our enhanced abilities. If everyone's comfortable doing so, why don't you tell Miss van Dyne a little bit about your powers and areas of expertise? I'll go first."

He sets his fork down, "I am a Coluan, a race of humanoids from the planet Colu. We're known for our high levels of intelligence; and I am considered exceptional, even among Coluans. That is my noted power--I'm super-intelligent. I am also the Legion's chief scientist, and a galactically rated expert across all known scientific disciplines, from medicine to temporal studies." He pauses. "And, yes, I am descended from this era's Brainiac. We have a difference of opinion on the purpose of science and intellectual achievement."

Wasp (van Dyne) has posed:
"Well...you certainly have an interesting concept of Earth cuisine." Janet leans forward, just a bit, and offers a grin. "Though, honestly, it is actually a small sample. There is so much more...but it would take much too long to try all." She leans back, placing her hands upon her lap. "Really, no need to explain. As your actively nondescript teammate alluded to, any excuse is good enough for a party. And I am all for parties."

As Nura makes introductions, Janet offers a smile and a nod...a bit of informality to what looks to be a formal dinner party. And then...she turns to listen to Brainy provide a history (future?) lesson on the Legion and his own backstory. Janet waits, patiently, until he pauses, smirking just slightly before interjecting. "That sounds rehearsed. I bet you practiced that in front of a mirror a couple of times." The wink signifies she is just teasing, while she offers a little bit of insight of her own. "So...just like the Avengers then....only....intergalactic. Okay...makes sense to me." That wry turn of the lips returns, with Janet stretching gently. "I would admit, I did recognize the name. Though I haven't had the pleasure of meeting your ancestor. He usually gets the attention of others a little more powerful than I am and I am happy to let them do their thing."

Invisible Kid has posed:
Lyle bows slightly to Janet, by way of a slightly more formal greeting to their guest. "Lyle Norg. Invisible Kid. I'm from Earth, actually." He blinks twice, and gets kind of an odd look. "You know, it occurs to me that in the absence of pedigree collapse, I should have half a trillion ancestors in this era. And since that's about four times the number of humans that have ever lived on Earth, if you have descendants, you're probably my great-to-the-37th-grandmother." He blinks again as he lets that settle in, then shakes his head clear. "Wow. Also, if you have no objection, I can join you on the hunt for Our Little Problem."

Dream Girl has posed:
As Janet finishes and Querl and lyle pauses, Nura slides into a seat. "I am Nura Nal. I'm from a distant planet, even in the 31st century called Naltor. The Naltorians are a race full of precognitives. SO much so, that we end up electing a 'High Seer'. I am considered one of the more powerful precognitives of my race. Not only can I see the possible future when I sleep, I get flashes of the immediate future when I'm awake. I am also highly trained in martial arts, which makes me very strong paired with my precognitive abilities. However, not all of my talents are in my precog abilities, I'm also one of the foremost biologists in the known galaxy....especially when you consider I'm in the company of...." and she gestures to brainiac 5. "But the reason why my name is Dream Girl is because of my powers....not my looks." She then smiles.

Triplicate Girl has posed:
"Imra!" Luorno stands up, and moves over to hug Saturn Girl, warmly. She'd heard, of course, that Imra had found her way here, but hadn't had opportunity to see her yet. She looks immediately apologetic, offering, quietly, "I'm glad you're here. The supplies we sent back with me weren't enough. As you've probably already realized." She exhales.
Imra, of course, would have known that Luorno had volunteered to come back with a load of power supplies and parts to help her fellow friends return back. She whispers, "We'll talk later," to Saturn Girl, and then admonishes Dream Girl, "You're gorgeous, Nura. And you know it."
Then, she looks back to Janet, and, suddenly there are two more Luorno's besides the one. "So, you can tell why we're called Triplicate Girl." Janet may well be impressed, as a fashion designer she'll be able to appreciate the complications in the design of the one Luorno's tri-color uniform, of which each Luorno is now wearing a solid-based color. One grey. One black. One white. The one in black had spoken.
The one in white offers, "Each of us is a part of the whole, each of us is Triplicate Girl. The very wonderful thing about the Legion is not that some of us have what seems to be stronger powers than another," she nods to Nura, "Such as precognition. But rather what we do with our powers. And how well we use them."
The grey one gestures to the other two Luorno's, offering, "And, in our case, we each can separate. Go off in different directions. And when we reunite, we share all our experiences together. When we're one, we know what all of us saw. Heard. The words we spoke. What we felt. We are, literally, three in one."

Saturn Girl has posed:
The blonde smiles as Luorno comes over and gives her a hug, hugging her tightly. <<It's good to see you, Lu.>> Moving gracefully over to the table, Imra sits, smiling back to Janet.

<<And the latecomer here is Imra Ardeen. Also known as Saturn Girl. I'm from Titan...one of the moons of Saturn. My people are natural telepaths. I was also trained extensively, and was going to be one of our galactic police officers, called the Science Police, before I got myself into...well, being a superhero.>>

Brainiac 5 has posed:
"As you can see," Brainy says, after another bite of his fish, "We come from a wide variety of backgrounds. What Invisible Kid's not telling you is that his power is -- obviously -- invisibility. He is also a top-rate biochemist and engineer, which served him well in his previous career in intelligence." He raises an eyebrow, and says, "And this is just a few of us. The Legion's full roster includes soldiers, farmers, mystics - Nura's sister is a powerful sorceress - and the only thing that's more ferocious than our arguments is our absolute loyalty to one another."

"But," He says, "One of our unspoken roles is that we are a target. Because we exist, individuals who might otherwise terrorize U.P. citizens target us first. We're a red cape. That has made us powerful enemies, some of whom exiled us here. Unfortunately at least one of our recurring foes made the trip with us."

"So to business then." He takes out a small personal computer, and projects a hologram of a ferret-faced young man. "This is Lalo Muldron, or as he calls himself, Micro Lad. He's an Imskian, a native of a planet that is heavily saturated in what you call Pym particles. I'm sure you can extrapolate what his powers are?"

Wasp (van Dyne) has posed:
"Well....I believe you all have me at a slight disadvantage. After all, if Luorno and Nura here were able to pinpoint my schedule on a random day down to the moment based off of historical records, then there probably isn't much that I could offer that you don't already know." Janet holds up a hand, fingers splayed with her palm towards her. With her other hand, she taps her thumb to one of the splayed fingers. "My identity is a matter of public record, which you all know." The thumb moves on to the next finger. "I am a fashion designer and own my own little design studio." Little being a major understatement, considering the popularity of her designs. She would list more...but it seems it is time to get busy. And Jan is more than happy to oblige.

As the hologram is projected, Jan's whole demeanor shifts from the happy-go-lucky socialite to a more serious posture. It is apparent that Janet takes her extracurricular activities seriously. "Oh, I got the down low from the trio that visited me. He is a size manipulator, like me. Though...interesting that the whole planet is lousy with Pym particles. Already got the jist that he can shrink to microscopic levels...which, honestly, I don't do very often, but I certainly can. This Muldron...he's the bug in your systems, quite literally. And I am to be the exterminator."

Leave it to Jan to not pull punches when needed.

Invisible Kid has posed:
"Yeah, you've got it," Lyle confirms. "He's currently being the ghost in the machine... we haven't got a chance of getting even our sublight drives on line while he's still infesting our ship, much less the rest of the systems. And we have to assume he hears every conversation, just because we don't know for certain where he is."

Triplicate Girl has posed:
"And, until you," Luorno points out, candidly, "The only way I could think to get rid of him weren't options. So, it came down to either finding a way to make one of us, or several of us his size, or finding someone in this time who could do what he could do." She smiles, warmly to Janet, before all the Lu's converge back into one, and she re-takes her seat.
"Querl's already made a tiny prison for him. Until we can get back, and hand him over to the proper authorities. It would be - extremely bad if he were to get to Earth. Our own timeline is in enough jeporady already."

Brainiac 5 has posed:
"Exactly. He's a highly-trained infiltrator and saboteur, and I think the only reason he hasn't blown up the ship, seriously hurt or killed one of us is because he's afraid of scuttling his chances of getting home." Brainy steeples his fingers, and says, "So we need him caught. Invisible Kid's developed a serum that lets him reduce in size, and so he'll be joining you on the expedition; I'll be running overwatch."

"Hopefully, this will be a simple operation; but Lalo can be cunning. Go in with your eyes open." Then he says, "That said, do you have any questions? By the way, dessert tonight is a banana trifle -- K.O.K.O. insisted."

Saturn Girl has posed:
Imra comments <<I can at least get you started in the right area, in all likelihood. I can't do much at pinpointing with the degree of finesse to find him, but a mind is a mind. I can at least point you to a part of the ship, since I'd assume searching it in shrunken state would take...well, more time than we might want. And I can also help keep people in touch.>>

Triplicate Girl has posed:
"I suggest to make the sweep easier we begin a timed depressurization of the ship. Section by section. We give him time enough to move. And, eliminate, bit by bit, his space he can survive in. Corral him, in other words, into a single area of the ship. It will make it easier for - well, everyone to find him," opines Luorno, and the perks at the mention of dessert. Strategy can wait, until the tasty treat is completely obliterated.
