Cast of Characters: Ares, Rogue

Ares has posed:
The Godsend bar in Midtown is a towny bar. Oh sure on the weekends it makes a good chunk of coin from the tourists who are looking to get their hands dirty with some local colour, but the owner of the place knows that's not where the heart and soul of his place dwells. It's during the week when the workers of the city break from shift and come in, shuffling into the place at happy hour and spending the rest of their time there before heading back to their homes to do it all again the next day.
It's a place that looks like a little podunk from the outside, but inside it's got four lanes of booths, four pool tables, a video display for not just music but KENO! as well. Heck it's even got a video poker game on one end of the bar. All the amenities of home.
Tonight, late on a Thursday, the men of the Local 477 union are gathered there. All taking in the night, a few beers, and the local camaraderie of their friends. One such a man, is John Aaron who is taking his drink in at the end of the bar, mostly in peace though at times some of the other construction workers pull him into the conversation.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue is only eighteen years of age. But she has about fifty fake IDs.

She came into the bar with some people she'd met outside and they looked like your a-typical New York douchers, so she just followed them in after doing an impromptu introduction to them and sharing a few jokes about how she was a lost college student who'd never been to this side of town before.

Now, walking up to the bar, Anna-Marie pulls out her wallet and shows off her fake ID to the bartender who... doesn't see it as a fake, a moment later and Rogue has (first) tall frosty beer in gloved hand and she's all smiles.

Rogue slides into a seat that happens to have Ares on her left and she glances over at him and gives him a friendly smile. She sure stands out in a crowd though, for a number of reasons... One, she was a gorgeous girl by most people's standards of beauty. But, two, she also had that hairstyle... stark white bangs on either sides of her face that contrasted sharply against her otherwise dark brown around the rest of her head. The other thing about her is that its about 90 Degrees'f outside, and she's got a dark tanktop on and long black gloves... that go all the way up to her mid biceps. Why would someone have gloves like that on when the rest of their outfit consisted of jeans and old leather boots?

Ares has posed:
That man she picked out of the crowd to sit near, he sort of stands out in a crowd, but it's the kind of standing out that tends to need a second or third glance. Sort of like when you look in the woods and think you see a dog, or is that a bear? Maybe a dog. Clearly a closer look is needed.
Since she can tell he's tall, though at the moment he's curled up a bit around his beer, and he's got those broad shoulders. But the clothes he wears seems to hide those things. The loose t=shirt, the blue jeans, the blue flannel jacket. It all makes him sort of connect with the crowd of townies. But not quite of it.
She smiles at him, brown eyes slip towards her and he lifts his chin in a small nod, and a grudgingly half-smile of his own. She gets a steady glance, not like most of the guys in the place gave her a look over. Just as if he were commiting aspects of her to memory, but not taking overly long to do so.
"Evening," Is what he offers in the way of greeting.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue didn't look at him for very long, he had a strange air about him... like a fatherly-type or some such and it made her a bit off-put since she knew what she was doing was against the law already. When he responded to her though her green eyes looked back at him and flashed him another little smile.

But after that, Rogue just went quiet and sipped her dark amber ale from its tall glass. It took her all but another 122 seconds before she looked at him again and then asked. "Are you a cop?" She asked him then. "Ya look... like a cop..." She eyed him over. "I mean, not like a local cop... you look more like a cop from a small town who's here on business'a some kind? Ya know? That kinda cop." Her head nodded softly once or twice to her own spoken words.

Ares has posed:
That gets him to smile as he eyes her reflection in the bar's mirror. But then he looks over towards the real her with his eyebrow quirked and his expression amused as he murmurs, "M'not." And after that he takes a drink of his beer. But for a time... she might think that was all she was going to get as he tilted the bottle back and looked at the label as if therein lied the secrets of the universe. But he sets it back down with a clink.
Just as she might be about to give up then he'll toss his wallet on the bartop, the landing causing it to flip open. It's an old plain black leather thing that's clearly been owned for a decade at least, with the corners creased and faded, and looking like it could have been in the laundry a few times. Inside there's no badge, his ID looks pretty normal just a regular driver's license. There's a pic of some kind behind one of the folded parts, not that much in there of remark and visible off hand.
Except maybe a subshop punch card.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue looked away when he gave her that small little answer which sounded like a man who didn't want to talk to anyone, or maybe just not some dumb young girl like her. She'd lived on the road for 2 years, she'd met many men who wanted nothing to do with dumb ass kids like her. She'd met... quite a few who wanted WAY TOO MUCH to do with dumb girl like her too though.

Rogue went back to sipping her drink and looking around the back of the bar, she liked the mirrors, that let her know if any ninjas were sneaking up on her...

When the wallet landed on the bartop she looked over at it and saw the license sticking out. "Guess you're tellin' the truth, huh?" She said over at him then with a little grin following those sultry southern-dipped words she just said at him.

"Thats good though, Cops are usually stuffy and nasty anyhow."

Ares has posed:
Eyeing her sidelong he listens to her and shakes his head. Something about the girl. It speaks of trouble, and not with a small T. A small half-smirk is there as he takes back his wallet and pockets it, then he turns and offers her his hand and says simply, "John Aaron," He'll wait for her to either accept the hand or the decline. If she takes it then there's a short shake, firm, but not aggressive. Then he turns back to his drink and shifts in his seat slightly so he can see her directly.
"What is your accent?" He asks as he looks to her and then adds calmly, "I've heard similar before but yours is very..." The tall man pauses to tilt his head, as if trying to get an eye of her from a different angle, "Musical."
Then again his accent, it's rather absent. But the way he speaks, the precision of word choice, and the rhythm. It's almost ritualistic.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue held her glass up to her lips up until the point where he spoke again and introduced himself, then complimented her accent. She lowered the glass back down without drinking from it and reached over to shake his hand, her shake's grasp was every-bit as firm as his... she was tough, for someone not very huge.

"Mississippi Traditional." Rogue said to him with a beaming smile complimenting her words and a little flirtatious headshake and shoulder sway. "I'm from Meridian, Miss... We got blessed with the good kinda southern charm in our voice. Unlike some'a the othe'ahs that get cursed with somethin' that makes them sound like they fell right outta the stupid tree'n hit every damn branch on the way down."

Rogue would grin again then. "Nice t'meet ya, Big John. I'm... Anna-Marie Elizabeth D'Ancanto Carlyle." Her grin blossomed a little further after that mouthful, and she added on in a near-whisper. "Though... most just call me Rogue."

Then, she finally went back to her drink for a sip.

Ares has posed:
His own bottle plays at his lips for a moment as he ponders her, sips, then sets it down with a clink on the glass bartop. Those brown eyes remain on hers as she offers her place of origin and he replies to her, "I'm afraid I haven't traveled there." There's a small smile as he seems content to just listen to her talk, that flowery and lovely flow of speech, elegance given voice. At least to his non-judgmental point of view.
At the last comment about accents a small chuff of exhaled laughter is heard then he shakes his head. "Anna-Marie is a lovely name." He says that with some solemnity, as if he had just passed judgement and by declaring it so, had made it so.
But then his brow furrows and he asks, "Why Rogue, if I may ask?"

Rogue has posed:
Rogue sat the glass down onto her bar coaster and she smiled at his words and shook her head about her home town. "Well, you ain't missin' nothin' when it comes to Meridian. Why, didn't ya hear?!" She got all wide-eyed at him. "They closed down the library'n opened up a second bowlin' alley! So much for southern priorities!" She grinned then and turned back to her drink, sitting straight and proper on her barstool. "Ah heard word that even the shootin' range has its own bowlin' alley lane in it now too. Thats about all they care about in Meridian... that an' the dumbass Highschool Football team."

With a heavy sigh then Rogue put one gloved hand up behind her neck, underneath her wealth of wild hair and she rubbed at the back of her neck idly for a moment.

"My aunt called me Rogue first, on account'a me runnin' away a few times... She said it in fronta my friends from school'n just sorta stuck there-afte'ah." She explained, showing a half-smirk over at him then. "Ah like it. Afte'ah all... we can be called way worse things." And another grin appeared on her pink painted lips.

Ares has posed:
"I can see that," John answers as he lifts his chin to offer a nod to the bartender, holding up two fingers. It's enough of a signal that it sends the man down to the end of the bar to get two more Coronas with their needed limes and sets them down on the table in front of him. He takes one and sets it towards Marie, if she's inclined.
Then he settles back and takes up his new drink, eyes meeting hers, "There's some strength to the name, independence. Going your own way."
Then he gestures with a rough and calloused hand towards the door, but moreso likely indicating the city itself. "And what brought you here? Family moved, travel, or have you gone Rogue again?"

Rogue has posed:
Rogue was always happy to get a drink bought for her by a guy at a bar, hey free drinks... she wasn't not about to turn that down at her age!

Rogue grinned at him and she shrugged her shoulders. "I got friends here in Manhattan that I like to see here'n there. Ah'm -supposed- t'be gettin' ready for well... ya know, college crap. But I got a trip t'Paris comin' up thats kinda takin' all my mental mind right now." She gently shook her head, stared at the mirror behind the bar for a moment and then looked back over at him.

"Ya see, Paris is my favorite place in the whole damn world, and Ah ain't neve'ah gotten t'go there. My mothe'ah and Aunt raised me, to... well..." Rogue would clear her throat then and glance away from him, then back to him.

"Ils ont amassé moi pour parler la langue. Et je suis tombé en amour avec elle depuis!" Rogue said to him then, in perfect and flawless French that made even her southern accent seem dry and boring in comparison! She said it with that flirtatious way about her too that would play right along with the rest of her style and demeanor. She WAS trouble.

Ares has posed:
It truly is a lovely thing to listen to her as she speaks so energetically, so openly about her thoughts. It is a thing only seen in the young, that vibrance and innocence that rises to the surface at the urge of curiousity and interest. He listens to her speak and at times gets a small half-smile, then near the end a small laugh is drawn from him, deep and bassy with a baritone rumble.
Shaking his head he looks away as he takes another sip, "If there is a place and a culture to fall in love with, one could do much worse than France." He lifts a fingertip to scritch at the stubble along the curve of his jaw. "Is it a college trip you are taking to Paris? Or are you doing this at your own behest?"
As he asks her this he turns a little more in his chair to look on her, a small furrow to his brow as he tries to puzzle out the problem that is Anna-Marie.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue grinned at him and nodded to him about his take on France. "Quite." She replied in short and in a soft tone. Another sip of her original beer was had and then she adjusted the location of the new beer to sit right along beside it, proud of her two illegally obtained boozes.

Rogue stared forward as he asked this question and she just grinned, her green eyes glancing down toward the edge of the bar's top. "Nah..." She said softly, her head shaking. "My... 'fiancee' purchased the tickets. He wants t'go there cause he knows its like my... Graceland, or some such. So he's tryin' t'be all romantic."

Rogue turned her head up and over to look at him again, her green eyes were surrounded by black eyeliner that made them stnad out even more than they might normally. "Ah think he's planning a secret weddin' there, but he's about as good at keep secrets as a basketball net is at holdin' water." She would smile wide then and lift the new beer up for a sip, sampling the taste of a brand she'd never had before.

Ares has posed:
The tall man's lips part in a small 'ah' as he smiles with amusement. "Congratulations then," He offers her with his bottle and then extends it towards her to make a faint 'clink' against the side of it in a small toast for her and her fiancee. He takes another sip of his own beer and murmurs, "It is a wonderful place, and if he has made sufficient plans then I am sure it will be a lovely time to remember."
That having been said he'll pull over the small bowl of salted nuts and takes up a few, casually tossing them back as he considers her. "The last time I made a trip was..." He lifts his eyes upwards as his thoughts drift to memories summoned. He rubs again at his jaw thoughtfully, "I took my son to the Grand Canyon, and then Mount Rushmore, along with some middle America tourist traps. Big ball of yarn. The Winchester mansion."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue didn't seem so sure about the marriage thing and it showed on her face when he clinked glasses with her. "Yeah, maybe!" She said then, shoving a smile onto her face to try to be positive about it all.

She watched him as he talked about his trip with his son and it made her eyes light up. "I love that kinda thing!" She said to him then. "When Ah was a kid... ya see... like a million years ago." She grinned, teasing of course. "... Ah had a whoooole map'a North America 'nd the rest'a the world on my bedroom wall. With all... the little places marked out that I wanted t'visit someday. Grand Canyon and Mount Rushmore was two'a those places. Neve'ah heard'a the Wincheste'ah place though... Ah DID get t'see the Grand Canyon once, Ah was sorta... hitch hikin' my way west... Got siddled up with this musician bum in Kansas City, made our way westward rathe'ah slowly, but we got there after a few weeks. Travelin' off'a donations for the music we were playin' in public places."

Rogue showed a faint smile then and nodded her head at him. "Grand Canyon is where I got fed up with his drug problems though, 'nd totally ditched his ass for some hot guys in a convertable."

Ares has posed:
"Sounds like a loser," John says as he listens to her and she regales him with the story about her musician friend and the trip to the Grand Canyon. "You probably made the right choice, unless you tell me he went on to become Bono or Justin Bieber or something." His lip twitches slightly, letting her know he might be a smidge not serious.
But then a light enters his eyes as he offers, "Ah, the Winchester Mansion." The tall man gives a sagacious nod. "Now see you should visit there. But it is terribly spooky." John gives a small slow nod.
He eyes her askance, "I could tell you its story, but it's the stuff of legend that would keep you up late into the night."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue grinned at the part about the musician. Her head would shake and her bare skinned shoulders would shrug. "Don't know. Neve'ah heard from him again. Ah mean, don't get me wrong... Ah ain't got no problem with weed or nothin'. But when you're pullin' out like... 'spoons' to boil and needles to pop yourself with?" She furrowed her brow and shook her head in disgust. "Screw that. Ya gotta get your shit togethe'ah."

Rogue would then hear the ghostly stuff spoken of and she'd grin at him. "I ain't afraid'a no ghosts." Yep. She quoted the Ghostbusters movie, it was only a twenty year old movie afterall and they were still a pretty big deal downtown from here in their fancy firestation!

"Ah'll have t'look it up on youtube when Ah get back home. Love that kinda stuff. Makes me feel all creeped out... course, Halloween is my favorite holiday..."

Ares has posed:
"Oh it has it all, love lost, spooky apparitions, madness. The poor woman." He shakes his head sadly, but then looks back at her as if wandering back out of his own path of memories. "Why do you like Halloween?" He takes another sip of his beer, tilting his head to the side as he looks to her, "My son enjoys it, but mainly because of the inordinate amount of sugar he consumes..."
Anything further he might be about to say, however, is cut off as one of the other construction workers wanders over from the table that they'd been occupying. He saunters over, flashes a leering grin at Marie as he lays a hand on John's shoulder.
"Hell, John. What're you doin' keepin' this lovely lil dear over here all by yourself?"
"I was speaking with her, Myron." John glances to the man aside, unperturbed.
"You two should come on over and join us, well, her mainly. You can stay here."
"The young lady is well in command of her situation."
"You sure about that, miss? I can promise you we're way more fun than this uptight bastard."
John smirks a bit, but otherwise leaves it up to Marie as to what she wishes to do.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue was about to respond to John's question about Halloween with a smile on her face at the subject, but thats when the other guy showed up and her green eyes went over to him as he talked and made himself all 'cool' like for her, as if she hadn't seen that same act about a million times even at her (secret) young age.

"Oh is that a fact?" Rogue said then, turning on her barstool to face the new guy. "You're 'way more fun'?" She asked, putting her right gloved hand up to her lips to cover her teasing giggle. "Well, let me just jump right up off of my stool 'nd rush ove'ah t'your table and just bask in the greatness that is you and your wealth'a fun!" She was just messing around with him though, not trying to be aggressive or nothing, not yet anyway.

Rogue picked up her free beer and drank from it with a little grin and a head shake.

"I can't stick around much longe'ah anyway, I gotta go meet my friend down at the car shop. Ah was -supposed- t'be buyin' us a pizza right now, but Ah didn't wanna go sit around in an auto-place for an hour. So I came in here for a drink!"

Ares has posed:
"That's a fact," Myron says to her around his smile that reaches his hooded eyes. But then for a moment she might get the impression that her sarcasm might be lost on him. He gets a weird look on his face and then looks back over at John, "What'd you say to this philly to make her so ornery?"
John's response is a small wave of his bottle to the side, brushing off the words and the man as he says to her, "Was nice meeting you, Rogue." And at that he'll offer his hand again for her departure.
Myron though crinkles his nose and looks annoyed, "Yer terrible at this whole flirting thing, buddy. For some people celibacy ain't a choice. Emmiright?" He grins and then turns away without saying anything more to Rogue at least, heading back to the table.
