Date of Scene: 24 July 2017
Location: Gotham City
Synopsis: Spoiler and Batgirl both converge on a drug deal...and both help each other in one way or another.
Cast of Characters: Batgirl (Cain), Spoiler

Batgirl (Cain) has posed:
Another night in Gotham. Another patrol. Another night of over eager, over confident criminals who think they can one-up the Batman under the theory of, 'He can't be everywhere', and 'Crime -does- pay, if you run the numbers'. Of course, the first reason at least plays into why Batman has trained such people as Robin, and Batgirl. And the newest girl to carry that latter role is now cloaked, and resting next to one of the gargoyle's crafted and perched on the side of one of the overhangs of one of the buildings.
She is watching, through her 'creepy' full-face mask, a drug deal go down. She watches as the sports duffle bag is opened, and the bags of cocaine are opened. Sampled, briefly. And a similiar bag also opened. Money.
It's a small meeting, in a dark corner of one of the worst places in Gotham. And the Bat is too well known to go over the higher tier criminals. They thought they'd be safe.
And perhaps they would have, if Batgirl had not tracked them from her fight the other evening with Batwoman.

Spoiler has posed:
Another night in Gotham. Another patrol. And...another figure in shadows watching the proceedings. This particular figure is in an ensemble of dark purple and black, with the face obscured with a full mask as well, with only white blank eyes peering out from the black void. This figure, betrayed by the body language and not by the costume as being female, sits on a lower rooftop, watching the proceedings take place.

This figure, clad in purple, has already made a bit of a name for herself. Spoiler, they called her. Because she has a tendency to spoil the best laid plans. And, it seems that she has her eye on the exchange going down. Seems to be a perfect opportunity to spoil those crooks' night.

Also the perfect opportunity for this upstart vigilante to get hurt, judging from the way she is carrying herself.

Batgirl (Cain) has posed:
Once the drugs and money changes hands, a batarang is Batgirl's introduction to the group, neatly puncturing one of the two cars tires. A second batarang, tossed a half-second later takes out the front tire of the other car. Getaway cars are now immobilized, and Batgirl is already dropping down into the nearby alleyway, before she's seen.
"The Bat!" One of the dealers yells, "Don't let him get you. Shit! Shoot anything that moves." Men pull out their guns. Pistols. Semi-Automatics. Both sides seem, now, united.
And their united front makes it more of a challenge. Which is what Batgirl wanted. She needs to test herself.
The all-black figure moves like a shadow, and as gunfire begins to sound, Batgirl runs towards the group, and somehow manages to either dodge the bullets - or, know almost before the shooters know where they're going to shoot. The first gunmen is disarmed, and still falling down from a smooth throat-chop, front-leg-sweep when the second guy is also disarmed, and loses control of his legs due to a nerve strike to the spine.

Spoiler has posed:
"Damn..." The word is spoken softly, barely audible, as chaos erupts below Spoiler's perch. She shifts her head, left then right, looking for the one responsible for the batarangs...and sees nothing. As if that wasn't an expected result. Another word is spoken, summarizing exactly Spoiler's thoughts about not seeing squat.

    "Figures..."

And then, the gunfire plays out...and finally the purple-clad vixen spies the Bat in question. And it is certainly not a Bat Man. "Hey! Wait for me!" The exclamation was made a little too loudly, as it gains the attention of a third gunman, his pistol wheeling frantically up towards the rooftops. "What?! There's two of them!!" A shot is fired, but fortunately Spoiler's movements are almost as fast as her mouth, as she was already dropping down to a fire escape, causing the shot to go high. A couple more drops and the purple figure leaps, down on top of the third gunmen, knocking him out with the time honored technique of double boots to the head.

Of course, it is only now that she is on the ground does the Spoiler look up to see if there is anyone else standing. Should have been looking first before leaping.

Batgirl (Cain) has posed:
Another gunshot, and Batgirl is dodging another gunshot, before she strikes at the chest of a man, but he's got padded armor. She strikes again, sending him stepping backwards, but not out. She dodges, moves behind him, slams a hand into his kidney and hits his chest for a third time. This time, he falls down. This time, there is no movement. This time, there is a strangled cry from the usually mute Batgirl.
    "No!"

There are no other gunmen, no other dealers, but Batgirl, in a very un-Batlike fashion, is dropping to her knees, shaking the man, desperately. You don't have to be a body reader to see how panic striken she is.
The man? The man isn't breathing. Batgirl is shaking him, clearly not knowing anything like CPR.

Spoiler has posed:
If one wondered it was possible to see a masked woman perform a double take, then wonder no longer. It is painfully obvious that, despite the opaque, feature obscuring mask, the face underneath is contorted into confusion. And then, a shared panic. However, one more expression can be read, as the cloaked figure leaps off of her gunmen and rushes to the Batgirl's aid. Urgency.

"It's okay. Let me take care of this." The voice is definitely female...and most certainly concerned as Spoiler shifts to position herself over the fallen criminal. The hood is thrown back, as a gloved hand pulls the mask up and off, revealing the features of a young woman, with long blonde hair shaken free of the confines of the mask and hood and blue eyes. She reaches down to support the man's neck, tilting his head back to open up the breathing passageways. Then, down as she forces air into his lungs, with her hands shifting to start chest compressions.

One, two, three, four. Check for breathing. Fill the lungs. Start chest compressions.

The CPR classes run through Spoiler's mind like a mantra, the steps repeating themselves in her head, blocking out all fear. One, two, three, four. Check. Fill. Chest compressions.

It is only after the fourth repetition in which the person beneath Spoiler's hands starts sputtering for breath. It is enough to give the girl a sigh of relief...and enough to remind her where she is at. A hand reaches out for the mask, to pull it back over her head. But, not before she casts a glance to the Bat person next to her. "He should be okay."

Batgirl (Cain) has posed:
Batgirl might explode. She might sink. Fall, into the depths of stark-raving-mad depression. The monster boils from the depths, attempting to ensnare her with tentacles, and drag her down to the bottom-most depths. It's hard to breath. Hard to see. But see she does. She watches Spoiler, not even breathing, perfectly still, until her heart and lungs burn with the need to let out breath.
And it's at the same time as the man, himself breathes. Or close enough. The relief that floods her is impossible for her to describe to anyone, and even she couldn't later say why, but she immediately grabs Spoiler in an very un-Bat manner, and she hugs the other girl. Hard. Tight. She shudders, briefly, and says, quietly, "Thank. You." Each word it's own sentence. The relief her body language showed heavy, and weighted, in the words. The world, literally, lifted off her shoulders.
She clings a few moments longer, before pulling away, clutching herself. She looks to Spoiler. Then, "Heart. Bad." She should've seen it. The man had a heart condition. And she triggered it.

Spoiler has posed:
The mask was only about halfway on when Spoiler was suddenly hugged by the Batgirl beside her. Her arms are pinned close as the hug catches her unawares, the section of face not obscured by the mask shifting from shock to mild confusion to concern and even a little bit of pity for the shaken black-clad vigilante. "You're welcome...." is spoken, in a slightly confused manner, but sincere, nonetheless.

Then, as Batgirl pulls away, Spoiler finishes with her remasking. As her gloved hands reach up to pull the hood back over her head, those white featureless eyes shift to regard the faceless void besides her. The hood bobs in agreement as Batgirl relays her theory on the heart attack. At least, Spoiler thinks it a theory, because how in the hell would one know someone had a heart condition just by looking at them....while they are shooting at you, no less. Still, it isn't a time for a smart comment, so Spoiler shifts to conforting. "You couldn't have known. It isn't like he was going to tell you in between gunshots."

Okay, so maybe one smart comment.

Batgirl (Cain) has posed:
"Yes." This is the most Batgirl has spoken in - well, perhaps ever, in so short a time. Yes, to what? It's hard to say. But what she means is yes, she did know. He did tell her, between gunshots. The way he leaned, the way his left side was going numb. Just, she thought his body armor would help him withstand it.
    She points to Spoiler. "Friend."
And if Stephanie hadn't clued in, yet, it's now vastly apparent that the girl has some sort of speech problem, possibly even an impediment. Each word is strictly controlled, spoken clear, but as if she were an immigrant, or someone who had to make certain they were pronouncing the word correctly, and accurately. That they had to -think- about how to say the word. Think about forcing the sounds out of her vocal cords.
"Batgirl." She points at herself. Then, she points to the rooftop, and takes out her grappling gun. Points it. But, she waits for Stephanie. Clearly wanting to take the rest of the conversation to the rooftop, before the cops get here.

Spoiler has posed:
With the mask on, there isn't any obvious visual cues to the average person as far as what Spoiler may be thinking. But, her impromptu partner is hardly average. There is confusion at the 'yes', to be certain, but a flash more confusion at the designation of 'friend'. But Stephanie isn't about to argue. She could use all the friends she can get.

As Batgirl introduces herself, Stephanie returns suit. "I'm Spoiler." No hesitation or almost saying her name. It is as if Stephanie is getting to be a bonafide superhero. There is a nod as she gets the intention of the black-clad girl next to her. "Right....we better go." However, no grappling gun for Stephanie. She removes the line from her right side and fetches a hook from a pouch on her belt. Then, with an almost apologetic shrug, the girl slings the hook upward, snagging it on the bottom rung of another fire escape. Pulling the ladder down, Spoiler starts the climb upwards...and will probably end up meeting a waiting Batgirl on top.

Batgirl (Cain) has posed:
Batgirl has a momentary thought of getting Spoiler her own grappling gun. It would make sense. It's something she'll consider, before she shoots the gun, and zips up, smoothly, efficiently, to the top of the roof. Then, she grabs the opposite side of the rope and she begins to help haul Stephanie up.
Once Spoiler has reached the rooftop with her, Batgirl pauses, says, quietly, but in that same measured cadance of speaking, "No. Tell." It's not a statement, or a threat. Instead, her head is tilted. As if - hoping, if anything.
There's a very long silence, before she adds, "Please."
It really is the most she's spoken, in this short of time, now. She may not have ever spoken this much to even Alfred, or any of the other's in the Bat Family.

Spoiler has posed:
It doesn't take Spoiler that long to get up. Though....it is a bit longer than just riding the zipline up. As she gets up to the top, Stephanie glances back down to the bottom, where there is the sound of moaning to accompany the usual sounds of the night. Then, back to Batgirl. "Don't tell? Heh, you have nothing to worry about from me. Who am I going to tell anyways?" With the way that Spoiler is standing...hand on hip, head tilted just so....she is smiling. "If anyone knew I was out here in the first place, I would be so dead."

There is a momentary pause, then Spoiler levels her eyes to Batgirl. "Tell you what. You don't tell anyone I was out here, and I won't mention anything about it. Deal?" The words are said in jest. Stephanie is being friendly. She wouldn't tell anyone...of that one can be sure.

Batgirl (Cain) has posed:
She can read the jest, better than she can interpret the sound of the words. Still, Batgirl takes the hand, and shakes it, hard, and she nods emphatically a positive agreement. No word is spoken this time. But she clasps Stephanie's hand with her other hand as well, holding it firm, fast. Warm. Spoiler is her friend. For life. She just doesn't know it, yet.
She holds the hand for a long moment, as if to be certain she conveys this, then she begins to step back, away. But she does not do her normal disappearance. Not just yet. She studies Spoiler for another few moments, almost as if about to say something else, or do something else. Then, the grappler is shot again, and she is off, zooming up further into the skyline of Gotham. And, out of sight.
