Lakeshore
Date of Scene: 26 April 2017
Location: Breakstone Lake
Synopsis: Rogue, Mars and Tatum chat at the lake near Xavier's School
Cast of Characters: Rogue, 110, Deadzone

Rogue has posed:
Rogue is out at the lake today, on the docks next to the boathouse. She's standing by a nice bbq grill that is setup on the docks and she's cooking a small selection of foods for seemingly just herself?

Rogue's cell phone is on the table beside the grill and its playing some classic rock music through its speakers. She's humming along to it. It was a nice day out today, so she's wearing a tanktop and some jeans shorts, with her leather boots off of her feet and resting near the edge of the dock. She'd been dangling her feet in the water earlier, it would seem.

Mars (110) has posed:
Mars walks out by the boathouse of course wearing a dress. Just because wearing anything less femininly girly would be awful for her. "Hey Ma..er, Rogue." she offers with a wave as she walks closer. "They let you use the grill on your own?" Though Rogue is a little older than her. And not blind (or previously blind). So that probably makes sense.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue looked up at the sound of someone's voice and she spotted the girl with the bionic eyes. She gave her a big friendly smile, unsure of just how much those eyes could or couldn't see, but she was a southern gal, so hospitality was the name of the game. Rogue glanced back at the grill upon hearing the question and her shoulders shrugged.

"Don't recall askin' nobody for permission." She said. "I DO recall findin' some grub in the freezah inside, so... cookin' it up." She smiled some more. "Want anything?" She asked. "Hotdog or cheese burgahs for all! Yay!" She lifted up her glass of tea to sip from it

Mars (110) has posed:
Mars nods softly "Sure, I'll have something. Just whatever. I'll add something..." She pulls her backpack off and opens it to produce a single regular-size Cinnabon. "I was hanging on to this, but it's a lot to eat for one person, so I'll split it with you." She smiles softly "So if you touch the hotdogs, does that mean you gain it's powers of deliciousness?" A little giggle with a wink as she puts the Cinnabon down and zips back up her backpack.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue glanced over at the cinnabon when it was produced and Rogue made a little wolf whistle at it. "Damn, those things are good!" She replied. "We'll cut it in half then aftah." She heard the question about the hotdogs and it made her smirk. "Heeeeell nah, lady." She said, tipping her chin up proudly. "I'm already de-damn-licious." She flashed a big grin then and turned back to the grill.

Marie's right hand motioned toward the patio chairs and tables on the dock. "Have a seat." She said. "Hows the new eyes? Gettin' around any bettah now? Last time I saw ya, ya took a spill... Hope thats not been happenin' still."

Mars (110) has posed:
Mars laughs "Are you..Magically Delicious?" She slips her backpack back on before settling into a chair, crossing her legs at the knee, right over left. "It's still an adjustment. Zooming in and out takes a lot of getting used to. I had a little discussion with Uncle Luthor, and he seemed a little dissapointed that I had some struggle. I'm a little afraid to share that with him to be honest - he went through such trouble for my eyes. Well...that's kind of true and not true at the same time. It's..pretty complicated."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue grinned at the magical thing and she shook her head slowly once. "Nope. I am aaaaall natural goodness." The southern belle was a pretty big tease and liked to joke around.

She finished cooking and closed the lid on the grill. Then turned and carried the plates of food over to the table that Mars had sat down at. Looking at her, Rogue continued. "I still think you should be usin' a cane or somethin' t'help ya get around for now, just to adjust t'things. Feels like they just threw your ass out inta the lake and said 'swim girl'."

She walked back over to get her drink and then fetched another drink out of the mini fridge for Mars.

Mars (110) has posed:
Mars points behind her, to the metal walking stick that hangs off of the backpack. "Actually I do have my walking stick - just in case. I come here so I can be myself, and this is my time to be a person on her own. When I step out of the grounds, there are interviews, and helpers, and chefs, I actually have little time alone."

Pausing, she rests her hands on her knee. "My entire family died during a big super-battle Superman took part in. I was the only survivor, crushed in the rubble. It was when my ability manifested. I tried to keep a large chunk of building from crushing me, however I couldn't keep it up and eventually my strength ebbed away slowly. It's been a very public journey ever since. Though my mutancy has been left out of the media."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue glanced over at the walking stick and she ahh'd and nodded gently as she sat down and offered the girl a bottled drink, sweet tea. "I'm glad that the mutation bit hasn't come up public then." She said, smiling softly. "Ya need _some_ damn privacy aftahall." She showed a little grin then.

"Sorry t'hear about your parents." She added then in a bit more somber of a way. "I lost mine too... its... not easy, ya know? They're always there, like, in the back'a your mind. But, I just remind myself that they'd be prouda me and where I am now, what I'm doin'. I'm sure'a that." She punctuated her words with a singular nod.

Mars (110) has posed:
Mars nods softly. "We were celebrating my parents getting engineering jobs at Lexcorp, a family gathering. From the building falling everyone passed away. Since I was an orphan, it became a pretty popular story. Lex Luthor came to my aid, paid for everything. I was a story to bring good positive publicity to his company. At first I was very much a tool for him to use. Though, we do interact well now. I think we find a companionship in the our mutual lonliness that we both felt. It's not quite family, but it's something like it. Strange, I suppose?"

She takes the sweet tea bottle with both hands, opening it. "Thank you." Taking a moment to take a sip. "There is a lot of loss from this school. I hope that your parents didn't pass horribly. Unfortunately it's a theme here. It's like a place where we learn to cope, and live once again."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue gently nodded her head to the girl's story. "You guys are leanin' on one anothah for support. Thats not strange, thats a good thing. Its a healthy thing, it means you're both still feelin' stuff... Its only strange when we stop feelin' stuff." She showed a small smile then sipped her tea again.

"My parents... Well. Its, undeniably strange what happened t'them." Her head shook side to side then and she glanced out at the water. "I was too young t'really get clear details in my mind about it, and I've nevah met anyone who was there that night t'shed any extra light on it."

"All I know is there was a guy there that night, a bad man. And he took'em both. Inta a... burst'a light..." She looked back to Mars and then showed her a little smile. "I don't know, strange stuff. That was twelve years ago though, so yeah."

Rogue exhaled then and went about fixing herself a hotdog with some of the goodies she'd laid out on the plates.

Mars (110) has posed:
Mars listens, raising a hand to press two knuckles to her lips, nibbling upon them lightly. "Hmmmn." She considers the scenario that was laid out before her. "There are telepaths here, perhaps they can make out some of what happened? I think that is the only possibility to give you any kind of reasonable success on any level I'm afraid."

Mars takes another sip of the tea. A bit sweet for her tastes..but then again, it is sweet tea. "I think that this school is important, I take the utmost care to not mention anything in the media related to this place. I think those of us that attend it aren't the most happy-go-lucky. It can be a somber place. Perhaps we can all make pleasant memories with one another?"

Rogue has posed:
Rogue listened to the other's suggestion about the telepath and it was something she hadn't thought of before... which made her eyes narrow in thought for a moment. "Thats not a bad idea." She said to her, thinking a little more on it. "I don't know. Its somethin' I'll have to mull on for a bit, see if I even wanna know more about what happened. I mean, its probably too late t'do anythin' about it, ya know?"

Rogue would then grin at the girl and nodded her head two little times. "We're here t'make pleasant memories. That is spot-on accurate, my friend." She told her. "Thus, this fine spread'a food and this pretty pretty springtime lake." Her left hand would motion out at the water. Someone was even in a boat out at the other side of the lake, gently gliding across the waters.

Mars (110) has posed:
Mars nods soflty giving a smile. "Yes, good memories!" She peers out at the water "Hey..is that someone in a boat? Who is that in a boat?" She looks curious, though avoids zooming her bionic eyes in. "The day comes closer and closer to when I am going to graduate. I fear that time, my life is rather planned, I have enough money to never worry about it. Trust funds and all. I'm expected to work for Lexcorp. But I'm really not sure where I belong - and that's what frightens me the most."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue and Mars are on the docks beside the boathouse. Rogue had cooked some food on a grill on the docks and they were now sitting at some patio furniture enjoying said food while conversing with one another.

Anna-Marie looked out at the boat and she peered over at it. "Thats... uh, I don't know. Too far out for me t'tell." She glanced back and smiled a little.

"Are you graduatin' in the next few weeks then?" She asked. "And hey, if havin' all the money ya need is your biggest worry, then... I'd like to trade worries with ya, Missy." Rogue would grin then and sip her drink once more.

Mars (110) has posed:
Mars shakes her head "No, I'm just a sophmore. But my life has been planned out since the incident. I think you'll be okay though. Money or not, I dont think your going to struggle in life. What are your plans after school? There are options for college after Xavier's. I think there's an academy of Tomorrow run by Ms. Frost. I heard she's a formidble woman from Uncle Lex. And if he recognizes her as one, then she really, really is one."

Deadzone has posed:
It had started with a walk along the gardens, then that turned into a walk along the beach. That led to the boathouse. Tatum sees people on the deck and offers a wave from below. Today's boot selection is more practical, since she was going to be outside. No high heels. Tater's momma didn't raise no fool.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue showed a soft smile and then shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know what I wanna do aftah school yet. But I don't graduate until August... and thats if I ace all my tests between here and then." Rogue showed a grin then. "I'd LIKE to do some world travelin', but, I ain't got the cash for that. I've neve'ah heard'a Miss Frost, but I can always look'er up online, see what I find out. College'd be pretty cool, but college in a different country would be even coolah."

When Nancy appeared down the path a bit, Rogue would wave her toward them. "I made FOOD!" She said to the teacher. "Just like ya try'n teach in your class! Cause I'm the best!"

Mars (110) has posed:
Mars nods "Well, I can talk to my uncle if you really want to travel. There is a place I wanted to visit overseas. It's..not going to be somewhere your going to want to visit. It isn't a place anyone wants to visit. But the rest of my time would be open if you wanted to travel. And I certainly know that Uncle Lex would not let me travel alone." She gives a wave to Nancy "Oh, hello there. Rogue made enough food for everyone, and there's a Cinnabon to share as well."

Deadzone has posed:
Seeing the wave from the boathouse, the goth waves back with a smile. Upon hearing that there is food? Well, what sort of cooking teacher would she be if she didn't come and try? "I'll be right up."

Slipping into the boathouse and comes up the stairs. "Okay, so what are you trying to kill me with tonight?"

She smiles to Mars, having heard a little as she came up the stairs. "A place no one wants to visit? I find that doubtful. There are people that still wanna see that german place where they killed all the Jewish people."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue grinned to Mars. "Hey. I'll fly around the world, anywhere you wanna go... if its not on my dime." She told the other student. "I can actually myself, like... ya know... Supes does. But, I don't wanna fly across the ocean. I get nervous about flyin' that far with no land beneath me. I kinda like t'stop and smell the roses now and then."

At Taters though, Rogue motioned to the hotdogs and hamburgers on thet able. There were about four of each still sitting untouched on the plates, Rogue had already had a hotdog and was sipping her tea.

"I don't wanna see no sad ass place like that though. You're talkin' about the World War two shit..." Rogue shook her head. "I know its important t'remembah our past... But... I'll remembah it from afar."

Mars (110) has posed:
Mars is silent a moment. A grim kind of silence. "Yes. The german place that they killed all the Jewish people there. No, the Jewish people dont want to visit there. It is out of respect that they do so. I wish to view there. I want to show it to Lex. We stand on a world of supers, metas, mutants, and this could happen again if we are not very careful. I need to understand, so I can make Lex understand. Lex is an intelligent man, but he is not a humble man. I know of no other place that has an opportunity to make him really understand the frailty of life. Of mankind. With aliens, mutants, and more we really could end up in that position if we do not remember the sacrifices of others."

Deadzone has posed:
Tate starts making herself a hamburger, not worrying about grades at the moment. It's not class time and Rogue is allowed to cook whatever and however she likes when not in the classroom.

"My point being," she says as she layers cheese, tomatoes and lettuce on her burger. "That no matter how bad a place is, there are *always* people that want to go there. Maybe not you, but someone." She listens to Mars and nods her head. "From what I've heard of your uncle, he's as smart as Stark is. Would not want to see those too in a pissing match. If you'd like, I could also tell him about what happened on my world. Wait... no... that would sort of go against what you are trying to do. Never mind!`

Mars (110) has posed:
Mars reaches out to touch Rogue. She pauses a moment not quite sure where to touch her in a tanktop, and chooses to touch, and lightly pinch her belly a little. That seems like the safest place. "Think about it. We don't need to spend a lot of time there, but I want to visit to experience it. The sins of the past. Of madness. I need to be able to translate this properly. It's important to a foolish girl that doesn't have any courage of her own." She gives a wave to Tatum "I'm going to take a walk. You two can have a Cinnabon." She offers a soft, yet somewhat somber smile before she begins taking a walk around the lake - and to see whom it is in that boat.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue watched Mars flee and she grinned at Tater. "I think she's a bit skittish around anyone who's not close to her age. She sounds like she's lead a kind of isolated life, and since gettin' her sight back I think its just made her have t'deal with a lot more sensory overload kinda stuff."

Rogue reached out for the Cinnabon though and she puleld it toward her on the table. "I'm definitely cuttin this bad boy in half though and munchin' it down."

Rogue looked over at Tatum then. "So you really are set t'stay here then?" She asked the other.

Deadzone has posed:
Gives Mars an amused wave as she goes by and then smiles over to Marie. "Woah, when did I become intimidating. That's kinda cool." She sits down at the table and take a bite and nods her head in approval. "Cooked enough to not be too rare in the middle but not over-cooked. Good job."

After taking the time to finish what is in her mouth, Tate nods. "Well, I can't go back. Not unless we find the alien that sent me here and trust me, there are way more aliens out there then you can imagine. So, this is home and I'm gonna settle in. Got new clothes. Got Remy looking into getting my cello back. Won't get my car back but... well, it was a gas guzzler anyway, so I suppose it's for the best."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue listened to this and she nodded her head gently, a grin showed up at the cooking compliment. "I'm the best at what I do." She said, borrowing part of a line from a certain someone. After sipping her tea again, Rogue exhaled sharply.

"I'm glad you're stayin' then." She told her. "Its nice t'have someone else around t'talk too, and ya seem to just... know how t'get stuff done. While not bein' all grumpy and stuffy, like that man ya got the hots for." She grinned some more.

"Remy's gonna get himself thrown in prison and I'm gonna be stuck on the outside, havin' t'talk to him through those telephone things on each side'a the glass windows." A heavy dramatic sigh was release from the southern gal then.

Deadzone has posed:
Tatum smirks at the borrowed line. At least, she tells herself, that she's not the only one that has a tagline. She slowly enjoys the burger, dipping her head in a compliment. "Thanks. Yeah, it's surprising what a bit of responsiblity will do. Makes ya want to be worthy of it. But, at the same time, I ain't so old as to forget what's fun. I hope my ex is okay, but considering how many women came before me, I'm sure he'll be fine. Not like this one."

She frowns at the mention of Remy in prison. "Do you want me to call off my job? I asked him because he's one of the best at what *he* does. I doubt he'll get caught. Then I'll have my Baby back and you two will have limitless access to my power. The exception being if you ask for it when I'm finally getting my groove on with that fine specimen of manhood that you call grumpy and stuffy."
