A Fool's Errand
Date of Scene: 07 June 2024
Location: Fred's Diner - Mutant Town
Synopsis: After being callously dropped off by the F.o.H at Fred's Diner - Remy has found Rogue and brought her to safety.
Cast of Characters: Rogue, Gambit

Rogue has posed:
The call had gone out. A smaller group of mutants had seen the bag get tossed into the diner. Somewhere away from the diner, the van that had the people who did the tossing, is taken care of. Completely and silently. With a special message to the F.o.H from another mutant with a special interest in everything going on but not willing to show their face to the X-Men themselves.

Speaking of which, the X-Men received a call from an unknown source that Rogue - who was known to be missing - had been found. They describe her as being in a bag wrapped in barbed wire and discarded at Fred's Diner. No other people around. Fred's been on vacation since the last time the F.o.H walked in and caused trouble.

Now it's just a matter of someone getting there while Rogue is still possibly conscious.
Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau had been as his lover had once put it, as nervious as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs since her disapearance. Normally one to shirk monitor duty as much as possible, he'd been on it religiously. Waiting for any scrap of info, and driving the resident telepaths to distraction looking for Cerebro updates. So when the call came out, it was unsuprising he was the first out the gates. His motorcycle speeding down the street at triple digit speeds. No helmet to interfere with his Kinethstetic sence... using his inate sense of motion to guide him. He practically put the bike into a slide as he rushed to the diner, and unless the doors were wide open, blowing them off the hinges. Hope Fred has good insurance..
Rogue has posed:
Lucky for Remy, the diner doors were unlocked. As he gets into the diner itself, there she is. A slightly writhing garbage bag wrapped in barbed wire with air holes for breathing and not much else. Even as she realizes someone has entered the place she's landed - which she's not even sure where she is - Rogue is nervous. Are they back for more punishing of her? Is this someone to save her? Or perhaps just some random who's walked in to find Fred gone, the diner empty aside from this slightly writhing bag. Each time she moves there's another soft cry of pain, be it from the barbed wire sticking her wherever it pokes through the bag or because of the injuries she's sustained while being captive. Hard to tell. Though it's likely both,
Gambit has posed:
Two fingers from each hand slip into one of the airholes and pull hard, ripping the bag apart to reveal the woman's face. The Cajun's heart skips a beat as he sees her. Both Relief and fury try to flood his brain, and both are pushed down in favor of calm focus. "Well dare yah are chere," He says with a tinge of playful sarcastic flirtation. "If yah'd jus' told Remy yah were inta tie up games, 'e woulda oblidged yah..." He says even as he furiously clears the plastic from her head.
Rogue has posed:
Even from just opening the bag at the head, Remy can tell Rogue is pretty busted up. Though she's conscious, so when he speaks and tries to joke there's a partial smile. Then she turns a bit and winces more. She's bruised on her face, and while he can see she's in her X-Force suit - the black one with the red circled X - it's torn here and there. "...Maybe soon, sugah...just...get me outta this..." Is spoken in a voice that's raspy and soft - like she's barely got the strength in her to speak. It's only going to seem worse from here.

As more of the bag is torn away - her arms are exposed, as well as her legs. Clearly the F.o.H were banking on someone just ripping the bag open and likely brushing against her bare skin which would cause her power to activate leaving her rescuer to fall victim to losing their abilities for a time - or perhaps their life. Fortunately, Gambit's smart. Tho no one seems to give him credit for such.
Gambit has posed:
To be fair, even Rogue herself hasn't gotten used to the fact that Remy's power lets him protect himself from her touch, or that the ability is practically on an instinctual level at this point. He uses his power lightly, not charging the wire or bag to anything approaching explosive but just making them fall apart on a molecular level. It's not as good as the woman's super strength but it does the job of letting him free her quickly and efficiantly.
Rogue has posed:
Then there's the injuries. She's just about one giant bruise. Darker in some places, lighter in others. Apparently she was beaten - with a bat or something akin to that. There's no broken bones, but she likely has bruised ribs. Also, many puncture wounds that are seeping blood from being constantly poked over and over with that barbed wire encasement. Her eyes open and she looks to Remy, giving a blink. "Fuck... I thought I might of been dreamin'. Is it really you, sugah?"
Gambit has posed:
Fury and rightious anger bubble inside the man and are eased down to a low burn as he sees what they did to her. "Ah do 'ope dat yah not expecting Prince Charming?" He asks with a smirk, trying to maintain that playful flirting demeanor. Because if Remy is joking around, everything will be alright. "Ah don' wanna stick 'round waiting foh Scott ta fin' a place ta park de Black Bird. Yah strong enough ta 'old onta me on mah bike?" He asks decidedly softer...
Rogue has posed:
"S'long as you take it easy going back, Rems... I think I'll be okay..." Rogue says this and then tries to shift, even as every move hurts, she fights through the pain. "Guess this beats you fallin' down a air duct, huh?" Trying to joke, to keep things light between them, but she's struggling even now. At least - for the most part - she'll be alright after several days of rest. They didn't kill her, she isn't dying, but it's definitely a message. The F.o.H aren't playing around, with a brand new 'rid the muties' agenda. Finally on her feet, but definitely using Remy as a crutch, she motions with her arm. "Let's get goin'..."
Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau immediatly scoops her up off her feet. She may have to hold on while on the bike, but he can't tollerate seeing her in this amount of pain that he can prevent for a moment longer then nessicary. He sets her on the bike and slides out of the duster he always wears, slipping it behind her and then sliding on the motercycle in front. He reaches back grabbing the coats sleaves and tieing them around his waist, helping secure his lover to him. "Yah ready chere?" He asks softly, before racing, albiet more carefully then usual, back towards the mansion.
Rogue has posed:
Rogue is more than ready. She says as much albeit softly after he gets her secured on his motor bike. She'll withstand anything that happens while he's driving them back to the mansion, just happy to know that she's safe and sound now. All she wants is to curl up and forget the last several days ever happened. Hopefully he takes her to the boat house, she doesn't want to end up in the med lab when they can't do anything...and she'll have to wait a day or two perhaps to ask a certain someone for a favor if they're even willing to do it. Just get her home and lay her down. She'll be fine.
Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau had fully intended to take her to the medlab, but at Rogue's soft protestations he guides the bike to the boathouse instead. He hates the Medlab himself and as long as she doesn't have any internal injuries he understands her desire to feel comfortable and Safe in a place that is not so sterial and... well the med lab. Jack is at full attention as he moves to carry her inside, just as he carried her to the bike... like a stolen Princess.
Rogue has posed:
Rogue curls up as much as she can once he's got her inside the boathouse and in bed. She's held on to hope against the pain and all else for so long, she just quietly continues to whimper as the adrenaline rushes out of her and all the pain comes more and more evident. Perhaps the medlab would have been better as she would have at least gotten some sort of painkiller pumped into her. Though she also has half a mind still to contact Wolverine and beg him to let her borrow his power. Just once. But for the moment, she simply remains curled and quivering. "...Don't leave me, Remy..." Quietly whispered, almost like a plea.
Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau may not have a healing factor she can borrow, but he has something of a pain killer... He walks over to a closet taking down a quart sized jar of clear liquid and bringing it over to her. "Lil gift from Kentuky las' time he went 'ome. Careful it strong enough ta strip pain' so jus' a sip or two." He says offering her the jar gently to her lips. "Remy Ain' goin' nowhere chere. Yah couldn' drag me away..
Rogue has posed:
As he brings down the bottle and comes over to sit next to her, offering it to her lips - Rogue doesn't really care what it is. She'll take the sip or two he offers her and breathes in deep as it burns its way down to her stomach. After swallowing that down, and giving a bit of a cough, she lifts her gaze to him and reaches to touch against his clothed arm. "I'm sorry, Remy. I never meant to get caught like that..." Course talking doesn't help her much at this point, but she's trying to push through the pain. "...My phone's in my room...we should get it at some point..."
Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau nods slightly. "Ah take care of it," He says simply... which means he'll break into her room and get it for her once she has fallen asleep. He brushes her hair away from her face3 gently. His power protecting him from her touch. "I don' mattah chere. Yah safe now. Dat all dat is important..
Rogue has posed:
"It matters to me...I'm not usually so easily caught...or broken..." Rogue offers and then tries to roll over, perhaps even away from him. In a way someone would do if they're ashamed. But rolling over doesn't go well, and so instead she just curls up a little more. "You do matter...and I appreciate...everything you do..." She offers this much to him and smiles. "Come lay with me?"
Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau nods and stand up, crawling ontop the bed with the woman he loves. Wrapping his arm around her in "Big Spoon fashon. Careful not to hold her too tightly but at the same time maximizing the contact of their two bodies. "Yah safe now chere, dat all dat matter. We leave de hows an' why's to de future, non?" He says softly, running his hand lightly over her side to maximize contact.
Rogue has posed:
Rogue relaxes, even with the wounds, into Remy as he wraps his arms around her. The moonshine is definitely kicking in, and slowly but surely she lets herself relax more and more. Soon after, she's steadily breathing, her eyes are closed, and it's very easy to tell she's asleep and likely as peacefully as she can be considering. Likely wise that she's left to sleep for now.
