Emma, Rave, and Miles: Give the people something to talk about.
Date of Scene: 29 June 2024
Location: Bushwick (Mutant Town), Brooklyn
Synopsis: The players put up with my hamhanded scene without having me swatted in my attic office, I call that a win.
Cast of Characters: Kid Arachnid, Emma Frost, Rave, Spider-Man, Ghost Spider

Kid Arachnid has posed:
Three men in balaclavas and camo. Looking like the latest rejects from rural militia, probably spent a couple grand on Amazon on their outfits before they decided to rob an armored car delivering paper currency to a check cashing joint nearby in the hood. They'd used a rental van to sandwich the armored car into a wall, slipped two jacks under it and lifted the drive wheels off the ground and then gone to work on the rear door with one of those hydraulic claw things that rescue people use.

That's when presumably Miles found them, some kind of scuffle ensued, and now these poor unconscious men where suspended up high between the tenements on webs in a little cluster. Somehow though, the entire thing had turned into a block party.

The cops were taking so long to respond, not really interested in cleaning up a collar that wasn't theirs presumably.

In the interim one of the brownstone tenants had flung his windows open and put his 6 foot tall electrostatic speakers toward the alley and was blasting EDM. At least three cart vendors had subsequently shown up, two selling food and drink and one selling glow sticks and vapes. People had filled the alley and where dancing quite appropriately to the music. Miles was on a fire escape alone, with ample room for more, looking at first mildly dismayed in his costume, but had given in to bopping in place a long with the crowd below. It was inappropriately infectious. It was going to be damned difficult for cops to get here now in any reasonable response time.
Emma Frost has posed:
the issue with block parties is that they also Block the road! So a very angry limo honks for a while before it stops. The man runs out and opens the door. " Are you sure, Miss Frost? "

The tall blond slowly slides out " Yes Frank.. I won't have you harming people.. it's fine let's see what is all the hubbub going on .. ".

She's dressed well for a much richer place than this and her outfit is hard to describe Other than tastefully cut panels that tease but doing reveal . as she looks about wondering what is the cause.. 3 people hanging from a post get her attention and she walks towards it.. funny enough everybody seems to move out of her way.

Rave has posed:
Rave was...well, whatever the opposite of subtle was. When you were literally a neon speedster...the bluenette was a surging comet speeding over the city. Still dressed like she'd come from one of her shows, cropped top and skirt (over her hotpants of course), Rave zipped upwards and over the surface of the buildings, between traffic and over the world in slow motion to her perception.

A leap between objects, she twisted through the air to snap a 'selfie' when well, she'd caught sight of the webbed-up criminals and adjusted her path, zipping over towards where the hung while leaving a trail of glowing light behind her.

"Huh. Neat!"
Kid Arachnid has posed:
Miles Morales leaned forward on his palms to get a better look at the Limo and the creature that climbed out of it dressed to kill, he reached back to rub the back of his head to sooth himself, but found the mop of hair on his head concealed behind his spidey mask. He glanced toward the steak of color that approached his collection of dollar store Heat rejects, "Uh oh." he said, noting the flash of the camera and not sure what to make of it. "This is about to turn into an ordeal, isn't it." mostly to himself. The party seemed to delight at the arrival of Emma Frost, clearly didn't know her like we do; she'd be treated to all kinds of unwelcome attention from working class folks tryna use this foiled robbery as an excuse to get high and laid. Speedsters, well, they get everything mostly on their terms, comes with the powerset.

Miles was curious to he hopped down and made his way over toward Emma, "Lady, you came to the wrong neighborhood with the right dress."
Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost She looks at Miles. " Ahh, you're one of the spiders, I see. " She smirks. " I know your boss. We've worked together before." she glances towards the speedster and frowns, but she mostly sighs; thankfully, she's dealt with Quicksilver for a long time, so she's not new to speedster types.

She looks around. "Every neighborhood can be made into the right neighborhood.. Even here, it depends on the people, am I right? " of course, the crowd cheers!

She looks to the speedster but then to Miles, "you're not like your boss.. he doesn't normally stick around. He leaves a card ".
Spider-Man has posed:
Mutant-town was a little outside of their normal patch but given what had happened the other day in Midtown a change in scenery might be called for.

"Look, it's not my fault the pigeons and the rats got our lunch and my favorite sausage cart got BBQed. I'm gonna miss that cart. I hope the guy's got insurance. Do you have any idea what it costs to get a license for a truck in _Midtown_? High six digits. Easy." he told Ghost Spider as they swung side-by-side in a comfortable rhythm.
Ghost Spider has posed:
"No way! Are you _serious_? That's like 10,000 sausages just to break even! And that doesn't include the cost of the sausages! Or insurance! Which, _clearly_ is necessary."

Clearly, amid her modelling career and scientific careers, Ghost-Spider has never actually attempted to open up a food truck in Manhattan.

*thwip*

That hood of hers is rippling in the breeze as she swings in a low arc, _right_ next to Spider-Man, as if they'd synced their swings a million times before.

"Also, just because it's not your fault doesn't mean you don't still owe me lunch."

She air-jabs a finger at him. So, she was serious.

*thwip*

"Hey, the Kid's down there! Wanna say stop in and say what's up? Is that... oh god. Is that Emma Frost again? She is _totally_ going to think we're stalking her..."
Rave has posed:
Rave -had- actually met Spider-man...the Parker one. So as she paused to try and snap a shot of the webbed up goons, spotting Miles brought a little blink. "Huh...new suit. Did he get shorter-"

Oh, there was the correct one...and the Ghost-Spider? Oh, she knew that one!

She moves to tuck the phone away, the neon bluenette looking up at the discussions and the Hard-to-miss Emma Frost.
Kid Arachnid has posed:
A multiphase, planned, and moderately deceptive plan had just been hatched. The Boys robbing the armored car had been phase one, the party clogging the two block radius, trapping Emma Frosts Limo had been phase two. Now it was time for the interlopers to capture her. Phase three would probably be a ransomed demand for the comely and influential woman.

When the hi-tech net guns discharged they where drowned out by well timed DJ-ed effects from the agents in the rented tenements, the air was alive with encrypted comms chatter as they coordinated their multiphase plan. They had thought of everything, but they had no idea how many interloping heroes where already here, this emphasized when Emma and Miles found themselves netted against Emma's limo like a pair of sardines in a can.

Miles glanced over at Emma in the moment of confusion and offered, "Maybe you could talk to my boss about the cramped working conditions?" that's when the voltage in the nets kicked on hard. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZREKT!"

The nets had been fired by a series of henchpersons, uniformed but unmarked, who where ready to deliver more non-lethal methods via gas cannisters to try and take Emma, and now likely Miles, and make away with them.
Spider-Man has posed:
Spider-Man glanced down at where Miles and Emma Frost were having a rough go of it and adjusted their thwips and their angles to come down to a fast landing near where the two of them were ... tied up? Really? He'd have to remember to give Miles some friendly grief for that. "Heeeeeere I come to saaaave the daaaaay!" Spider-Man crowed as he landed in a crouch that would make most not-Spider-People tear multiple tendons, scream, and fall over. But not Spider-Man.

And hey, look! Bad guys! In uniform! Made them easy to spot. The web-shooters were going on rapid-fire as Spider-Man thwipped at the Uniformed Bad Guys, going for immobilizations. Wrists, ankles, eyes. All non-lethal, all deeply unpleasant. "Hey, Kid." he told Miles with a quick smile under his mask.
Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost for her part, first looks at the speedster and smiles. She sends a thought to the girl .oO. Hello, you new Oo. But then some bad people take advantage of Emma being distracted..

She gets pinned in the limo.. she frowns and is about to go diamond when Miles talks. She looks at him only to hiss as she is shocked half to death! her back arching in Pain...
Rave has posed:
A little shiver and blink as she starts hearing the other woman in her head. Intrusive thoughts...telepathy was more likely, right? Still the bluenette starlet was left blinking as the electrified net was launched towards the pair.

She'd been looking in the wrong direction, otherwise perhaps she'd have intervened but...well, she could at least make up for it, right?

A flash of laser light and Rave was by the netted pair, her hand extending to release a beam of energy intent to slice at the net.

Seems she's got more than the one trick of running fast.
Ghost Spider has posed:
You know what's _really_ hard to sneak up on?

A spider that's at all paying attention to their Spidey-sense instead of the hot blonde in front of them. (Sorry Miles. Had to say it).

You know what's nearly impossible to sneak up on?

Two spiders that have been working together for the better part of a decade.

And when Peter goes in for the direct approach (because, let's face it, he's freaking SPIDER-MAN!), Gwen goes for the more subtle approach. She swings wide over top, sticking to the side of a building a couple of stories up where she has a full, bird's eye view of the sidewalk below and everyone on it.

Peter's got this. She knows he's got this. There's not a flicker of doubt in those big white eyes of her as she watches him go all wild-west on the bad guys.

But just in case, it never hurt to have a sniper-Spider that playing overwatch.

There's a little shake of her head when she hears Emma's voice in there again, but she doesn't say anything back this time. She was busy concentrating. Protecting Peter was her focus.

After a few seconds of being crouched on the wall and relatively certain Peter wasn't in any _immediate_ danger, Gwen simply stood up on the side of that building, crossing her arms over her stomach, the heel of one teal ballet flat touching the other as her slender body stood flag-pole rigid off of the side of that building.

Sideways.

But looking no more awkward than if she were simply walking down the sidewalk.

Gwen's mask-eyes smile a bit at the pair still attached to the car.

"So, can we join the fun? Or are you guys too tied up at the moment?"
Kid Arachnid has posed:
Miles knew by precognition he had to run hop down and run over to Emma, he just didn't know why precisely. When the net sent thousands of volts it all hit him at once: he had to be there to absorb the electricity and charge up a venom strike, maybe help the regal lady out at the same time. "Hey Boss!" said Miles to Peter seeming to light up at his arrival, "Hey Bosses Boss!" said Miles to Gwen, "Thanks, Raver!" said Miles to Rave whom he was pretty sure he recognized, "I got this!" said Miles to Emma, the angry voltage arc-ed into his body, drying out the net as Rave slashed a hole for Emma to slink out of.

Miles discarded the remains and webbed over toward Gwen, aka Ghost-Spider, because that's where his senses where telling him to go. "Ghost, LOOK OUT!" he said, his palm outstretched toward her, he didn't even know what was about to happen, this place was chaos."
Emma Frost has posed:
Emma Frost She slinked out of the hole and rolled her shoulders; those blue eyes were ice right now . That shock hurt! and she was angry.. She lifted up a hand and snapped her fingers. She whispered the word, but everybody heard it. At least the civilians did .. " run," and just like that, the people scattered! In a place like that, it doesn't take them long to disappear!

Now that left the bad guys .. an angry Emma and a lot of heroes.. for her part, she will send to rave .oO. Thank you, dearly..that was most helpful, Oo. To spidey .oO Thier in the building to the left careful their armed Oo. To miles .oO That was a very brave young man, thank you Oo. to Gwen .oO Hello again, are you following me? I'm flattered Oo.

she's using her powers to connect everybody so they can communicate .oO. Everybody talks normally. I'll make it so everybody can hear Oo. Sure, as an omega mutant, she can do more.. but this is more fun.
Spider-Man has posed:
Peter put up the strongest psi-defense he could manage. Not because he thought Emma was going to attack him, but because he had too many secrets in his head to let them leak out casually. "Ghost-Spider, I'm on the rest of the goons. Get the kid then mop-up. Make sure she got them all. I'll catch up, usual spot." he said, and then thwipped himself into the building that Emma indicsted.

Didn't take long before cries of pain, sporadic gunfire, and bodies hitting the floor noises came out of that building. Could be someone was working out a little frustration.
Rave has posed:
Seems that Rave herself wasn't being consider by the Spider, but well...she wasn't a costumed heroine. She -was- an outed public one, but when your eyes and hair glowed neon blue, well...it's hard to be anything but.

Her thoughts being connected via Emma? Well, they'd need some filtering, this was a speedster after all!

A 'Flash' and she was beside one mook, holding his weapon in her hand, then another and another.

Bad guys tended to have a bad time against the Spiders most of the time, but take away their guns and well...
Ghost Spider has posed:
See... the thing about all of them being Spiders is that they don't really need each other to do the whole 'Spidey-Sense' thing. And maybe she's just been doing it longer. Or maybe it's just because she's a girl. Either way, it's _so_ much less dramatic than that.

When Miles stretches out his hand, Gwen's eyes open like eyebrows lifting in fascination. Then her head moves a little to the side as a loose brick from the roof of the building spontaneously falls where her head had been and smashes into the asphalt.

"Dude. Chill." Her arms come up a in front of her as if 'feeling' for Miles's aura. "You're giving me a heavy too-many-Red-Bulls aura, right now. When's the last time you ate a carrot? Drink a glass of water? Eight hours of sleep?"

Yeah, she was on this with Miles, too. Not just Peter. Somehow, it had become her lot in life to try to take care of the boys as they all got older.

Then there's that DAMNABLE VOICE IN HER HEAD AGAIN, and those hands come up to her temples, squeezing as if she was literally trying to force it back out again.

"Get out of my head, lady," she shouts, "or I swear to God I will find a way to get you out that none of us are going to like. If I could stop running into you, I would."

Those mask-eyes are squinting into the concentration of trying to NOT think anything.

She had secrets. Lots. And lots. And lots. And lots of secrets. Her secrets. Peter's secrets. Miles's secrets, but so many others that weren't standing there. Secrets from Gotham. Secrets at that nano-level. Secrets inside Alchemax and Oscorp. Secrets that would destroy her relationship with her father, if they ever got out, to say nothing of what the identities of those she loved leaking out would do to them.

This is why she had no experience with telepaths.

She avoided telepaths at all costs.

"Spidey, we can't sit here with the Winter Lady in out heads. We've gotta get out of here."

She wasn't even looking at Emma, anymore.

But there were still bad guys, right? And Peter was right.. they needed to mop up.

"Come on, Kid. We'll cover the back."

Circular hand gesture. 'That'. Whatever that is.

And then she 'thwipped' out a web-line, and in the next second, she was swinging around the building, looking for another way in (or covering a possible escape route for the goons).
Kid Arachnid has posed:
With everyone pitching in and the situation starting to unravel for the badguys, the "first" responders start to make inroads into the crowd thanks to most of it dispersing. They are collecting unconscious bodies and loading ambulances, they seem to regard the hero's stiffly and don't even want statements. One of them even says, "Just scram, we probably got it all on camera anyway."

With Peter taking care of agents unseen in the building there might be more legs to this little caper that could be explored by a vengeful femme fatale and the monumental organization backing her, but for now she could proceed unmolested into her evenings plans. The rest of the spiders webbed off as they are want to do, and Rave, well she was offered a little parting wave from Miles who hoped to say hello to the pretty girl in the near future, but she might not recognize him then.
