Synopsis: Summary needed
Cast of Characters: Rainmaker, Moonstar

Rainmaker has posed:
When you you rode with her back to the mansion, she happily told you she'd be back for that tour, or if you headed back to New York in her neighborhood, maybe you could get something to eat and swap more rez stories, if nothing else. You ended up being near New Ulrecht, she was free, and the next thing you knew, she'd found a place on the roof of her building with a nice blanket and some hay for Brightwind to chill out on and nap, and was flying you over across the city. It's evening by now, so not a lot of people looking up to notice. She eventually descends, then sets you down in an alley. Once you're off, she slides her arm through yours and pulls you along towards a cafe from which acoustic guitar music is leaking out.

It looks a bit deliberately rustic, split between the main building, which looks to be done up in Southwestern style pueblo for the exterior, with colorful vases resting by the door under a pretty yellow awning. The interior has several tables and booths in raised areas around the sides, because the center is dominated by the stage and the dance floor where couples twirl. The music is live, a trio of young men, with two playing guitars and one acting as percussion by drumming on the box he's sitting on, occasionally slapping a nearby highhat cymbal.

Outside, there's a rough fence that surrounds an open-air area of smaller tables separated by a profusion of plants that look lovingly cared for, providing a bit of privacy but also a good amount of color from the flowering shrubs and vines that hang over the flower boxes and in some cases are strapped to the top of the fence. In the center, there's a raised stone from which a small waterfall tumbles into a pool below, filled here and there with the shine of coins in the bottom of the water.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani didn't ask many questions, letting Sarah lead her along... and when they arrive, she laughs, "Oh my. Sarah, this is so perfect." She smiles and looks around, "How did you even find this place?" She doesn't unlink her arm from Sarah's, enjoying the other girl's company as well as the flight over.

Dani then looks over at Sarah, "Somehow I'm glad I haven't eaten dinner yet... that smells amazing. Reminds me of home." In a very good way, it seems, as her head nods slightly to the music, definitely feeling much more comfortable here than outside in the City.

Rainmaker has posed:
"Me too..." the other girl says with a smile. "It's sort of how I found it, I was feeling homesick and was trying to find someplace that actually MEANT it when they said they served actualy Southwestern food. The owner and his wife were from New Mexico before they moved out here to retire and be near to their grandkids." She leads you to the front door, opening it for you to usher you gently inside. "They've got the BEST barbacoa and sopapillas, and fresh green chili to boot."

As you step in, a portly older woman greets you both. "Welcome to Felipes! Outside or inside tonight?"

Moonstar has posed:
Dani grins, and looks at Sarah, "Wait, /real/ fresh green chili? I might never leave." She is mostly joking, really. Then she looks at the woman with a smile, "Well, what would you recommend? Because both options look pretty good to me."

With that, she glances over to Sarah, lowering her voice to a whisper as she says, "Damn, Sarah-Sempai-San, if this is a first date you're doing a pretty good job so far." She winks then, and gives Sarah's hand a squeeze in hers, as their arms /are/ still linked.

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah blinks and gets a flush at that, suddenly very aware of the linked arms and squeeze. "Ah, well..." she says, a slight stumble to the worlds. "...do you want to sit outside where it's a little quieter but we can hear the music, to talk, or do you want to stay closer to the dance floor and the music...I mean...do you want to dance tonight?" she asks, her eyes twinkling a bit. The woman seems to find this adorable, waiting patiently for you both to decide.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani chuckles, and blushes a little herself, "Sit outside, and we can always migrate inside if we want to dance later?" She smiles, "Because I'd rather be able to hear you talking, anyway." She tilts her head towards Sarah, also noting that she didn't exactly deny Dani's whispered statement either.

Rainmaker has posed:
She nods at that. "Me too, honestly, it's nice but hard to hear over...though if you're dancing, you don't need to." The older woman leads you out to a nice round table that's tucked back against the fence amid some of the flower boxes, with a half circle bench to sit on that faces back towards the main building and the dance floor and stage. Sarah motions for you to take a seat, then scoots in next to you, even as a industrious server stops by with a small basket of chips and salsa, then takes your drink orders, before disappearing off to let you consider what you want to get off the menu. Plenty of specials from the look of it! Ribs in chipolte sauce, street taco platter, something called the macho taco, fajitas, even some native frybread dishes.

Sarah leans back to watch you. "It's not everything I could get back home, but it's pretty damn good." she says cheerfully. "Even the queso is solid."

Moonstar has posed:
Dani perks up at the frybread, then grins, "Well, damn, good queso in New York City? Sounds like a bad commercial." She smiles and tilts her head towards Sarah, "Sorry, I didn't mean to embarrass you... too much, anyway." A wry grin, "After all, it's not every day I snuggle with someone on Brightwind. Actually, I take that back, I've never snuggled anyone while on Brightwind."

She then looks over the menu, and chuckles, "Man, I think I want all of this. Though... geez, that macho taco looks huge." She gives Sarah a sidelong look, "Want to split it?"

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah rests her chin on her hand as she gets a playful smile. "That's right. If anything, I was snuggling you on Brightwind." she murmurs, teasing. She grins. "Sure, it's pretty large, we can easily split it. Want to try the queso? It's queso blanco with green chili, nice and hot." She holds up a finger. "Annnnd, the true proof this is an authentic New Mexican restaurant: you get sopapillas for the table instead of bread, for free. Great with honey." She sits up a bit. "Sound good? If you want some of the frybread instead, we can do that too."

Moonstar has posed:
Dani laughs softly, "You did a pretty good job of it too Sempai-Sarah." She grins and winks back at Sarah, then says, "Sure. Let's get some of the sopapillas, some of that queso, and split the taco." She looks quite pleased at the idea, nestling a little bit against the older girl since... well, they are sitting next to each other after all.

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah doesn't seem to mind the closeness, though she does pause from talking long enough to tell the server as she returns with your drink to take the owner. The queso comes out immediately, set by the chips in a little ceramic bowl, before the server disappears again.

Once the server is gone, she pulls her legs up on the bench beside her comfortably, which causes her to lean a little more back against you. "So...rez stories, I think...who goes first?" she says with a faint smile, snagging a chip and dipping it to scoop up some of the chili floating in the cheese and popping it in her mouth as she regards you curiously.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani smiles and slips an arm around Sarah's shoulders at the leaning, changing her posture a bit to support Sarah a bit and not minding at all, "Well, hmm. I had to fight a Demon Bear when my powers first manifested, if that works?" She takes a chip, dipping it in the queso, then mmmms as she eats it, "Wow, this /is/ good." Not that she didn't believe Sarah, but still... it's New York. Good queso. In New York.

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah settles back comfortably against the arm, smiling at your enjoyment. "Told you. Okay, a Demon Bear, that sounds like a good place to start." she says with a dry tone. "How did you run into a Demon Bear? What was it like? I mean..." she says thoughfully. "I'm guessing bearish, but what made it demony?"

She crunches down another chip, settling back to listen with interest in her eyes.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani mmms, "Well, it was an evil spirit, coming to get me. I'm not sure why... I think maybe it knew some of my destiny, because it took my parents when I was young. I spent most of my youth raised by my grandfather. He knew the old ways."

She takes another chip, then continues, "Then the Demon Bear came back, shortly after my powers manifested. The Bear killed him, but I managed to escape, and then I went to the School. Thinking I'd be safer there, since I didn't have anyone else. And the Professor knew my grandfather, so they took me in."

Rainmaker has posed:
She frowns softly at that, her eyes not leaving your face, though she doesn't say anything to interrupt. Instead, she just reaches over with her right hand, taking yours, squeezing comfortingly as you talk about losing your family, and your grandfather. "It must have been hard, going from the rez to a place like that. Especially just when you were developing your abilities..." she says quietly, snagging another chip again as you finish speaking...she stopped while you were talking. "Who's the Professor? Xavier, right, isn't that his name?"

Moonstar has posed:
Dani nods, "Yeah, that's him." She smiles, "It... it was like I found a family again, up there. Then the Demon Bear followed me there." Her eyes harden, "But I wasn't a scared little girl that time. I knew what I could do, and I had friends, and together, we killed the Demon Bear. My parents were freed from it as a result."

She smiles over at Sarah, "They asked if I wanted to go back with them, but I decided to stay at the school. It's where I could do the most good. And I still get to see them over the summer too." With that, she takes another chip, dipping it in the queso first, and she returns the squeeze with her fingers, interlacing her fingers with Sarah's as she takes comfort from the touch, sighing softly.

Rainmaker has posed:
Her fingers curl against yours gently as she tilts her head, listening, then reaching up up to idly brush a stray lock of her hair behind her ear as she looks down. "I'm glad you got them back..." she says softly, looking back up at you. "And that you found a good place in the meantime..and summer vacation at home too! Score." she murmurs, smiling at you.
There's something quiet and pained in her eyes though, for the brief moment before she looks over to pick up her drink, covering it. "So how are they taking it? I mean, you being back and ready for your second senior prom?" She sips from her glass briefly, then sets it down as she looks back, intent again, that oddness in her eyes hidden away again.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani tilts her head, "Oh, they're okay with it... I mean, at this point no one knows what happened. Most Asgardian magicks couldn't do it, that anyone knows of... but a 'mortal' never really was made a Valkyrie before, either." She hmms, "Honestly, they almost seem happy... we missed so much time together because of the Demon Bear, having more time, even if it's like this, feels like a blessing."

Then she tilts her head, as she's not telepath but she is a bit of an empath, in tune to emotions as she lowers her voice, "Sarah... what's wrong?" Because she feels that something is, as she looks down towards the other girl with a concerned expression.

Rainmaker has posed:
There's just the slightest twitch of her lips at that, as she straightens a little, then gently deflects. "Don't worry about it.." Sarah says with a faint smile. "I want to hear more about you, anyway. You never told me what you learned how to do? I mean, you have a winged horse and you're a valkyrie, which is cool by itself." Toooootally going to try and move on from that question. Yup.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani hmms a little, but acquiesces, chuckling a bit at the mention of the Valkyries, "Well, that's /another/ story. Basically, there was some plotting in Asgard, and me and a bunch of students were kidnapped off to Asgard, but separated once we arrived." She pauses, "I found Brightwind trapped in a mire, barbed netting keeping him trapped. I got the netting off, and when I freed him, we... had bonded. I mean, I can communicate with animals, but this was something else." She smiles, "Apparently, in Asgard, the stallion picks the rider... and, well, Brightwind chose me." With that, another chip, nom nom queso So Good nom.

Rainmaker has posed:
"You talk to animals? That'd be fun, I'd think. Though I'd guess they tend to have one track minds sometimes...." the other girl say with a grin, snagging another chip and scooping out more of the queso. "Wait, who kidnapped you? Thor or someone? I thought he was a good guy, so I'm guessing someone else?"

The tension slips out of her body again as she returns to leaning back against you a bit. It's...nice to have that touch. She finds her mind wandering a bit, wondering what it would have been like if she'd met Dani before everything happened."

Moonstar has posed:
Dani smiles, "No, it wasn't Thor, it... well, we never did figure out who did it. But we fought against an evil sorceress, and eventually made our way back home. And I got to keep the horse. And the armor, too." She chuckles, and just nestles with Sarah, holding her lightly as she breathes out a sigh of contentment. Chips. What chips?

Rainmaker has posed:
She quiets too, smiling a bit as she peers down at you. Even sitting she has a few inches on you. "Sounds exciting...most people bring back a t-shirt from their vacation to far off lands, not armor and a horse." she teases gently.
The server returns about at that point, setting down your food...a truly large taco that's a good foot long and about that big tall, stuffed with beef, onions, salsa, and sour cream and guac. There's a side of spanish rice, and a small basket containing two fresh sopapillas and a small squeeze bottle of honey. Sarah thanks the woman, then eyes the food. "Hmmm...that is going to be one messy taco..." she warns thoughfully.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani, for her part, was wearing a blue denim button-up shirt, as well as matching jeans, and grins back at Sarah, "Yeah, that's... wow. Bigger than I thought it was gonna be." She chuckles, "But I suppose it's not going to get eaten if we just sit and look at it, is it?" As if in a reminder, Dani's stomach rumbles slightly, as if reminding her how long it's been since the /last/ time she'd eaten.

Rainmaker has posed:
She raises a brow at you at the grumble, her lips twitching in amusement before she reaches over to pick up a fork and hand it to you, pulling the plate closer. "Shall we then?" And she'll start digging in to one side. And...wow, it's a nice, flaky taco, not hard at all. Meaning that it breaks up easy, but drips guac and sour cream, making it a challenge to keep it from getting on you unless you lean over the table the whole time.

Sarah does not do this! She play risky! And goes for the much less sure hand under the fork technique of getting it to her mouth.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani grins, "Well, it's why they invented spray and wash, right?" She goes in on the other end of the taco, devouring it with a fair amount of gusto as she uses her fork and digs on the other end. She plays fairly risky too, mimicking Sarah's style as she manages to avoid spilling... so far, anyway!

Rainmaker has posed:
You are both safe from the dreaded guacamole drips! However, when Sarah snags a sopapilla to drizzle honey on it, she's not quite so lucky as that, as she gets in a few bites then misjudges the way the honey is running as it promptly drips across the top of her chest. "MMmmmph!" She manages, quickly holding it away, then swallowing. "Dammit, caught that..."

Moonstar has posed:
Dani blinks, "Oops!" She pauses, then gets one of the plethora of wetnaps, "Here, this might help." She doesn't do it herself, because, well... that could get all sorts of weird. But, she does offer it to Sarah, "Just want to catch it quick before it sets in."

Rainmaker has posed:
She nods gratefully as she rests her still sticky sopapilla filled hand on the table so it doesn't drip while she takes the wetnap, rescuing herself as she catches it before it starts to ooze down under her top, carefull catching it and wiping it up. "Whew. I don't think I'd taste nearly as good honeyed up." she says absently.

Then very obviously realized what she just said as she flushes faintly. "...okay, let's just forget I said that...." she mutters a bit.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani grins, "Oh, let's not, but I won't tell anyone else." She winks at Sarah, even as she blushes a bit herself as she starts thinking about it. Then she tries one of the sopapillas herself, making sure to be careful with it to avoid the sticky fate of Sarah's shirt.

Rainmaker has posed:
They're quite tasty! Lightly fried and puffed up, and still warm from the oven. The honey just gives that little bit of sweetness to counter the slight sourness of the dough. Sarah manages to finish hers with no further mishaps, though she makes use of the wipes to get her palms clean, sucking her fingers clean first before running the wetnap over them as well. "Mmm, so good, but so messy...you must respect the sopapilla, or taste its sticky wrath!"

Moonstar has posed:
Dani laughs a little, and intones solemnly, "Bless the Sopapilla and Her Honey. Bless the coming and going of Her. May Her passage cleanse the shirts." And with that Dune paraphrase, she grins and finishes hers, licking her fingers clean afterwards as she grins, "Doug made me read that book, but it was actually pretty fun. It was pretty interesting."

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah grins at that. "I tried to read it once, but it got sooo weird. I think it was the first book I read where they had a fairly badass female character. Not counting creepy little girl. I remember the movie way better than the book though." She smiles. "Who's Doug? I think you mentioned him before..."

Moonstar has posed:
Dani smiles, "Oh, he's a classmate, great guy. He can literally understand any language." She grins wryly, "He keeps wanting me to be more geeky too, so I do occasionally indulge him. He's given me quite a few good books to read. He's a good friend."

Rainmaker has posed:
"Handy talent." she says thoughfully. "Hey, there's nothing wrong with being a little geeky..." she says with a smile. "He sounds cool though, especially if he's willing to lend you good books to ready."

She leans back a little, sighing happily at being nicely full from the meal. "That was just about the right amount I think."

Moonstar has posed:
Dani nods and slumps back against Sarah, "Well, I think if we don't do /some/ dancing, they're going to need to roll us out of here on forklifts." She grins, "In a bit though, think I need things to settle first... mmmmmm."

Rainmaker has posed:
That draws a little grin from SArah as she looks over. "Hmm, yes. Settling is good....' she says cheerfully, her arm sliding around you loosely, hand resting near your hip on the bench as she sighs out comfortably. "Hmm...let's see, you told me about your parents and where you came from, and being kidnapped to Asgard...boyfriend?" she murmurs, peering over. "Or girlfriend?"

Moonstar has posed:
Dani chuckles and shakes her head, "No to both of those. Never really had time for them. I mean, Prof saw my potential and I always felt just a bit... too out of place, sometimes. They're my family and all there, but it's just... it seems like it'd be a bit weird, if that makes sense?"

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah smiles a bit at that. "....really suprised by that. You seem like a catch, honestly. Not every girl who has her own flying horse and badass Asgardian armor.' she says playfully, reaching up to brush a strand of your hair back in place. "So don't want to spoil a friendship by asking someone out, and you mostly hung out with the others at the school, so no one else to try to ask out?"

Moonstar has posed:
Dani hrms, "Maybe the latter, I mean, there was..." She looks a bit rueful, "There /was/ one boy, but he never seemed to notice, and we were always in competition... but there was just something about him." She chuckles and gives Sarah a wry look, "I think I might have scared some of the other boys, or girls, a bit too much."

Rainmaker has posed:
Her dark eyes turn to yours, her lips curving up a bit. "You don't seem that scary." she says thoughfully. "Maybe they just don't know what to do with a strong girl?"

Moonstar has posed:
Dani looks back to Sarah, and smiles, "I don't /try/ to be scary, but I can be pretty metal sometimes. Like in full armor and riding Brightwind around in battle." She tilts her head, then grins a bit wider, "Do you know what to do with a strong girl?"

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah grins. "Arm wrestle? Acknowledged their awesomeness and pride? Maybe ask them to dance?" she says cheerfully. "I kind of like strong girls...but..." She shrugs. "...I'm not very good at knowing what to do with one, since I haven't really met that many directly. Well, save...Caitlin, but..." She rolls her eyes. "...that girl, she's oblivious."

Moonstar has posed:
Dani chuckles, "Well, that's kinda cute in a way, but it still sucks when they're oblivious and you just throw yourself at them and they just don't get it." She hmms, and grins, "Sounds like you have a pretty good setup ready when you meet a strong girl, Sarah." Absently she reaches up, brushing an errant strand of hair out of Sarah's face with her fingers.

Rainmaker has posed:
She smiles a bit as you do, tilting her head to let you tuck it behind her ear with the rest of the soft waterfall falling down her back. "...you know.." she says softly. "I didn't really have the chance before, either. I lived...way out in the middle of nowhere, just me and my mom. Home-schooled. So...no real chance to ask someone out even if I wanted to." She leans her head back, closing her eyes. "Mmm, and I had a rep anyway by that point, because I got caught kissing Marie Running Bird behind the gym."

Moonstar has posed:
Dani grins, "Oh, really? Good kisser?" She tilts her head, sounding a bit curious, eyes flashing with amusement as she adds, "Her, not you. Though if you want to brag a bit I wouldn't mind."

Rainmaker has posed:
She rolls her eyes a little, getting a playful smirk. "We were 9!" she says. "No one is a good kisser at 9!" She pouts. "...it was...nice though. I think she just did it because she wanted to say she'd kissed another girl, really."

Moonstar has posed:
Dani laughs, "Well, you're the one that said you had a rep!" She shakes her head, "Nine seems a bit young to get one though." Her eyes dance a bit, "I... well, I haven't really kissed a girl before." Which isn't to say she isn't willing to, long as it's the right one. That's probably the issue with her.

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah mmms. "Well, I didn't stay in that school long, so..probably they didn't even remember after a bit. Out of sight, out of mind, you know..." she says, waving it off. Her dark eyes find yours as you point that out, watching you, then hesistates. "Never, really? Not even for practice, so you know what to do?" she says curiously.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani looks a little indignant, even as she blushes, "I do too know what to do. I mean, er..." She blushes a bit more, "I never really had much in the way of chances to do it, with everything going on." She trails off, her blush deepening a bit.

Rainmaker has posed:
There's a wicked little curve to Sarah's lips. "...so...the old kissing the fist practice, then?" she murmurs playfully. "I remember that." She gives you a one armed squeeze against her gently. Yes, when you're in the middle of nowhere save with your mother, you have to have an active imagination and...well, there are only so many ways to practice that sort of thing before it gets wierd.

She seems to be enjoying the little flush this line of questioning has brought out, from that sly smile she has as she admits to her own lack of practice.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani grins a bit, blushing a little as she says, "Um... yeah. Or the pillow." She nestles against Sarah, smiling towards her, "I do have a pretty active imagination, this is true. Kinda have to, when you grow up where we did, right?"

Rainmaker has posed:
"Yeah...need to imagine your way off the rez sometimes." she murmurs softly. There's a slight hesitation...she so...should not say it, but at the same time... "I mean, if you wanted to practice....I suppose if you had someone who was willing to help now, you could learn a bit." she says, a little too casually as she glances towards the dance floor.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani blinks, and grins, "Well, gee, Sarah-sempai, maybe we should do a little dancing at that." She chuckles, still blushing a bit as she stands up, offering Sarah her hand, "If you wanted to"

Rainmaker has posed:
She smiles and says simply. "I do, yes." She takes the hand, getting to her feet as she pauses to pay the bill...who knows how long until you'll want to sit down, after all? "Lead on... she says with a faint smile.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani leads the way to the dance floor, and laughs a little as she tilts her head to the acoustic guitar melody. With that, she gives Sarah her hands, "So... want to lead?" Her eyes dance a bit, "I'm... not really used to dancing with a partner."

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah is lead out after you, sliding into the dance smoothly, a hand on her belly as she sways her hips, other hand held higher, smiling softly at you as her hips shift back and forth, then wordlessly reaches out to hold out her hands. "Sure..." she says. "It's been a bit for me too..." she murmurs gently.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani steps close, and dances with Sarah, resting one hand on her hip, holding the other as she moves with Sarah. She's not used to a partner, maybe, but she's used to this style of music, her steps almost like some sort of waltz, as she steps in perfect time with them music.

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah seems to know the dance that goes with this song...all sorts of swaying hip, gently touches at your hip, the other holding your hand she takes it slow. No big movements, just an occasional whirl for you, as she sweeps you into it, letting the energy of the music flows into her and you. She pulls you close as the music speeds, her body gently brushing yours, with maybe a handsbreadth between you...yet she manages to keep from closing the distance, just the warmth of her close as she grins at you a little. Once you seem to have it, she reaches down to adjust your hand, sliding it gently down from her waist to her hip. "Here...it's all hips...for this song..." she murmurs, doing the same. "Think a little Shakira...." she teases.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani laughs, "Okay, I think I can handle that..." She's pretty athletic, that much anyone can see from her movements, though she's not quite used to dancing like /this/. She smiles and stays close, shaking a bit with the music as she whirls around with Sarah, looking up at the other woman as she just feels in tune with her motions, staying with her fluidly.

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah's a little hesistant at first too , but she seems to just like to move her body more than anything else, rathern than resorting to anything fancy, especially when she's dancing with you. You can feel her hips shift, swaying smoothly under your hand as her own follows your movements. You can see other dancers are doing similarly, though in most cases the couples aren't bothering with the space between them, more molding themselves together, though there are plenty of single dancers too.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani smiles a little, then slowly shifts up, pressing towards Sarah a bit. Not insistently, more gradually as she moves back and forth, looking towards Sarah and meeting her eyes. She doesn't say anything, mainly because she doesn't want to ruin the moment, just staying close and in contact with the other woman, lips curled upwards in a cheerful smile.

Rainmaker has posed:
There's a faint smile on her lips still, her eyes finding yours, first with a little suprise as she feels you move closer, but no resistance as you do. Her hand holding yours guides it down gently, then rests your other hand on her other hip, before she does the same to you, letting out a soft sound as she feels your body press into hers. It still undoes her a little bit, just a touch like this, an old longing for wanting to be held coming to the front of her thoughts.

Together, you both sway now..you can feel every sway of her hips, the slight bend of her body with yours as you move together, the feel of her chest rising and falling against ours a little bit faster now. Her eyes flash a bit with a happy light as she meets yours, a little teasing twinkle in them, though she doesn't break the moment by saying more.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani smiles and just watches Sarah, feeling herself relaxing for the first time in... well, who knows when, enjoying herself in the dance as she presses against Sarah, her breath catching softly now and again as she feels a shared touch, bodies pressing close with only the clothing getting in the way on the dance floor. She tilts her head, hair swishing around with her movements, dancing in perfect sync with Sarah as they sway together on the dance floor.

Rainmaker has posed:
As you whirl slowly with her, you can see you're both drawing looks from some of the other dancers, mostly admiring ones. Granted, more the men than the women, but still! Sarah doesn't seem to notice or acknowledge it, focusing on just moving with you as the guitar plays tenderly, building to a climax of sound, before the music stills as the song ends, leaving you pressed together on the dance floor.

Sarah is breathing in and out a bit faster, sliding her hands off your hips to take your hands gently. "You're not so bad at this at all..." she teases gently, then tilts her head a little as the next song starts. "This is a slow dance though...."

Moonstar has posed:
Dani smiles a bit and squeezes Sarah's hands in hers, breathing a bit faster herself, though it doesn't seem like she's that winded. "Well, thanks... but I can slow dance. My lead?" She then slides one hand back to Sarah's hip, holding onto her other hand as she does lead Sarah into a dance. A waltz, to be precise, "It's not too hard, just one-and-two, like so." She laughs softly, "Ballroom dance was a class I took at the school."

Rainmaker has posed:
She looks a little suprised at that, like she was expecting you to want to leave the floor, but then she steps closer to you, turning over lead to you as she follows. She moves a little uncertainly at first, but gradually relaxes into it as she gets the hang of it. "That's one I never really did...honestly, I think I learned more dance moves from Youtube than anywhere else.." she says with a grin.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani laughs, "It's not bad to do it that way, but it's just nice to have a partner." She actually twirls Sarah out, then spins her back closer, continuing the dance fluidly as she seems pretty good at it, her lips curling into a smile, "Besides, dancing is like Pringles, you can't have just one, right?"

Rainmaker has posed:
She gracefully twirls out as you do, laughing a bit as she's brought back in, her eyes twinkling again. "I guess that's true...does that mean you were a dance dance girl, hitting all the proms and such?" she says amusedly, moving with you.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani shakes her head, "Nah, they... didn't really have dances at the school. Or do, rather, not really that many students. It'd be a bit weird." She grins, "But I do like to dance." She then, near the end of the song, suddenly turns and dips Sarah, holding her steady as the dance ends, Dani's hair falling forward to shroud Sarah's face, though she can still see Dani's impish grin smiling down at her.

Rainmaker has posed:
That actually draws a little squeak from Sarah, who isn't expecting it at all, blinking up at you as she flushes slightly, her own raven fall of hair brushing the floor. "Definitely ballroom..." she says, smiling up at you, trusting you to hold her, then shifting before she gracefully arches up into you, her arms coming up to slide around your neck. Suddenly she's close again, the softness of her chest pressing against your own, her own playful smile on her lips as she gazes into your eyes.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani grins, pulling close to Sarah as the song ends, looking at her for a long moment as she doesn't want to say anything again. Then she looks back away from the dance floor, as apparently she has other things in mind than a third dance at this exact moment.

Rainmaker has posed:
There's that wonderful awkward moment everybody loves to have, until you look away, then Sarah pulls away gently, taking your hand to tug you off the floor. "You're a much better trained dancer than I am..." she compliments you gently.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani smiles, "Thanks... guess those dance classes paid off." She squeezes Sarah's hand in hers, and lets Sarah lead the way off the floor, "Glad you liked it." She then looks at Sarah, feeling... well, comfortable, for the first time in a long time, it seems.

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah squeezes your hand gently back, then smiles at you. "Want to walk off some of the rest of the meal?" she says. "It's a nice night..." She seems equally at home now, as relaxed as you've seen her thus far, in fact. "And I haven't completely gotten every scrap of your life out of you yet, of course." she says cheerfully.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani laughs, "Sounds good to me, Sarah." She walks along with the other woman, gently sliding her hand around Sarah's back as she leans against her a little bit while walking, "And it's a very nice night. You almost can imagine seeing the stars." Her eyes dance a little bit at that, a mild critique of city life, but she seems pretty happy regardless.

Rainmaker has posed:
She slides her hand up around your waist in return as you walk. "Not really like the rez...." she murmurs amusedly. "The sky always feels farther away in a city like this." She glances over. "Though you've got Brightwing, you can get as close as you want whenever you want...how did your folks take you being a valkyrie?" she says curiously.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani hmms, "They were pretty cool with it, all things considered. But then I guess you get to be open minded when you're possessed by a Demon Bear." She sighs a little, then smiles, "And they figured it gives me a better chance in case there's another one out there or something." She rests her head on Sarah's shoulder, just enjoying the stroll more than anything.

Rainmaker has posed:
The head against her shoulder draws a little smile. "That's still just trippy. I thought you were going to say it was a spirit dream or something at first." she murmurs. "So if you could talk to animals, were you like a major pet girl? Lots of dogs at your house or something?"

Moonstar has posed:
Dani nods, "I befriended about all the stray cats, and had a few dogs too." She smiles, "For a little while growing up, I thought I wanted to be a vet... still might, though I don't know how I'd handle vet school /and/ being a Valkyrie."

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah grins. "Well, I'm guessing one may not pay as well or have the steady hours and schedule the other does." she says with a laugh. "But I could see a vet with a gift like that...you'd be able to let animals know what was happening so they wouldn't be frightened."

Moonstar has posed:
Dani grins, "Yeah, I could totally Doolittle is up I suppose." She hmms, "I just love working with animals... a lot more than people, for the most part. Though I suppose I'd have to figure out a college to do my pre-vet work, and it's... pretty hard to get through, though I think I could manage."

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah smiles a little. "It's like anything, I guess, if you want it to be yours, you work for it." She gives you a squeeze. "You shouldn't shy away from it though, if it's something you want to decide. I mean..you're getting a second chance to decide what you want to do, in a way." she says, looking down at you. "And if this school is so nice, I'm sure they'd help you get into a school too."

She quiets a little, then murmurs. "When I was little, I wanted to be an artist...a sculptor."

Moonstar has posed:
Dani hmms, "Do you still sculpt? Or did you go to something else?" She looks over at Sarah, genuinely interested as she looks back at the taller woman, returning the squeeze as she smiles warmly.

Rainmaker has posed:
She cocks her head a bit, glancing over at you. "Well...I was pretty terrible at it, honestly." she admit with a sigh. "But I liked making things. My mother used to make pots and some jewelry to sell, so I wanted to be like her, but...it didn't work out that way."

Moonstar has posed:
Dani nods, listening intently, then she smiles, "Well, hmmm... just because you're not good at something, doesn't mean you have to give up completely, right?" She looks up at Sarah, and gives her a firm hug as they walk, trying to look encouraging.

Rainmaker has posed:
She slows a bit as you slide your arms around her to hug her, then slides her now freed arm up around you to give you a squeeze back, quieting for a moment as she just enjoys the comfort of the hug.

When she starts to speak again, it's more hesistant. "It wasn't that...well, not completely that. I couldn't keep doing it, it wasn't possible. So, I had to give it up." There's a wistful note to her voice. "When I was ten, I started feeling the wind and the rain, like it was...music. Patterns. My power started early."

She smiles, peering down at you as she winks. "Actually, I had a lot of things develop a bit early at that point, I think that might have been part of the reason the whole kissing a girl thing got so nasty at times at school."

Moonstar has posed:
Dani nods slightly, "Sounds like one of the teachers at school, she can control the weather." She smiles over at Sarah, absently brushing a bit of hair out of the other girl's face as she looks actually a bit envious, "That's pretty cool that you can do that." Her eyes meet Sarah's, a mixture of emotion present there.

Rainmaker has posed:
"Well...it's no flying horse...' she murmurs playfully, then mms, glancing up at the sky. "Another person who can do weather? Hmm, maybe I should talk to her sometime then.

She rubs your side absently. "I thought it was a great gift though. I could make it rain when we needed it, i could steer terrible storms away from the rez. I could help find water for new wells. And the storms were..." She smiles. "They were wonderful to feel. Still are, really."

    She hesistates. "But...it drew attention."

Moonstar has posed:
Dani nods, listening a bit as she grins, "I'd love to get a chance to introduce the two of you. Sounds like you have a lot in common." She hrms, "Always some people looking to profit off of what we can do. Especially if it's at our expense." Her voice is a bit grim at that, as she squeezes Sarah again, letting her continue.

Rainmaker has posed:
She smiles quietly, looking down at you. "...it was worse than that, really." she murmurs softly. "My father, he was...special. The reason my mom had to live away from the rest of the rez, because she married a indaa...a white man. An ex-soldier who met her when she was taking some goods to sell at a show." She smiles. "...but they were really in love. I didn't really understand it back then, I didn't understand why others on the rez thought it was so terrible."

She lets out a faint sigh. "...when I was ten, while my father was away, they came for me and my mother. Soldiers in black armor." Her tone is quiet, a bit flat. Touching her especially, that bit of empathy you have can feel the roil of them behind her calm exterior.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani winces at the description, then just holds Sarah tight as she keeps talking. She doesn't say anything at this point, just because... well, what is there to say? But the support is there, both physical and emotional as she knows the turmoil of what Sarah's going through. Probably because in a way, she went through it herself... just Demon Bears instead of men in black.

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah slows to an amble now as she walks, her hand fingers at your side curling slightly. "We weren't ready for something like that. I couldn't...focus yet, to use my powers when I wasn't relaxed. Not quickly. They took both of us...made it look like we'd died in a flash flood, we found out later."

Her dark eyes are down now, studiously watching the toes of her boots as she walks. "They'd been watching. My father had talents, not like mine, but they thought I would develop the same. They were watching all of the kids of his team. And they wanted to...to own me." she says, her voice sharpening, a bit of anger entering it. "But they didn't think my mother was a threat, they just worried about locking me up, binding me, gagging me...and while they were busy with that, my mother smashed the guard's head in with a fire extinguisher and escaped with me."

Moonstar has posed:
Dani nods, listening as she just holds onto Sarah, letting her talk about what happened. She slides her other hand down to cover Sarah's at her side, keeping her close as she gets a hint of the smile at Mom's actions there, muttering "Good for her." under her breath.

Rainmaker has posed:
That brings a faint smile to her lips as she looks back at you, raising her gaze. "She's sneaky like that. Tiny but mean when she gets angry." she agrees. She rubs your side gently. "We went to hide out after that. My father thought we were dead. He grieved, and then he moved on. We didn't know where he'd gone, so we couldn't contact him, and we couldn't risk looking. We just lived on the edge of the rez, in a hunting lodge one of my uncles owned. Just me and mom, for about seven years."

Some of the humor returns to her voice. "So, hard to do sculpting when you can't get materials or anything."

Moonstar has posed:
Dani grins back at Sarah, "Yeah, art's kinda hard like that." She jokes a little, but her eyes still show concern, "She still out there, or...?" Because she did the math, and figures now things are getting close to the present. And she doesn't want to say 'I'd love to meet her' (even if it's true), if... well...

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah reaches up to brush your hair playfully. "I hope so." she says softly. "I'd love if you could meet her someday. She'd like you." She smiles faintly, then her eyes get quiet again. "I can't contact her. When I was...well, your age, or close to it...another Apache...mutant, he came looking for me. He was a tracker, had heard of me, and was coming to help me. I'm not sure exactly how...he said that he had a safe place where I could learn to use what I could do."

She arches a brow. "Though by that point, I'd been training hard for years, as best I could, so I was much better."

She tilts her head, looking ahead of where you walk again, away from your eyes, like she doesn't know how to let this out when she can see your reactions in your eyes. "...they followed him. The same men. Black Razors. They'd put a tracker on him, somehow. It was...a lot more of a fight. I ran away from the house, with him, and we fought them. Hurt them bad." she says, a slightly vicious note of satisfaction entering her voice. "But...they separated us, and they were ready for what I could do. One got close enough to inject me with something that knocked me cold."

Moonstar has posed:
Dani winces, then frowns a bit at the mention of not being able to contact Sarah's mom. She then listens intently, eyes going a bit wide as Sarah mentions the tracker, because that guy sounds familiar in her head, though she can't think of the name...

Then she nods, "And they captured you, then?" Her voice is empathetic, and she reaches up to stroke Sarah's hair back a bit again, futzing with that as she listens.

Rainmaker has posed:
Her steps slow to a stop, so she can turn to face you more, a faint smile brushing her lips as you capture her hair under your fingers. "Yes." she says softly. "They took me back to their base. It was a school too. Or it pretended to be. Project Genesis, the New Future for You." Irony is heavy on her voice. "There were two parts, one side was for people they'd convinced to come voluntarily, pretending to be some really good private academy. Scholarship, full rides for those who came. Caitlin and Roxy both ended up on that side of it, among others. All going to school, not realizing that they were dousing their food with all sorts of drugs to make their powers manifest. And the moment they did, they'd 'disappear' into an exchange program."

Her dark eyes are a bit pained. "But really, they ended up on the other side of the facility. My side was where they did the experiments. They'd freeze kids who had the talent, and ship them somewhere else. We never found out where." She shakes her head. "Except me. The director was pissed off that I'd evaded her so long, she wanted to punish me, so...I got left in the labs, in the cells there, just...projects to the scientists and...and the guards." She licks her lips a bit, her eyes dropping again. "...we never really found out if we were supposed to be weapons or...playthings. SHE certainly treated us that way."

There's a cold hate in her voice at the memory.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani grits her teeth a bit, her own anger building a bit as she thinks about how lucky she was the Professor found her before some other people did. Hell, this makes Emma Frost's place sound like Day Camp in comparison, as she glances over at Sarah, "And you got out? With the others?"

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah pulls her out of her reverie a bit, shaking it off as she takes a deep breath, then lets it out, centering herself, before she looks back at you, smiling faintly again. "Yeah. It worked out, sort of. Caitlin...she got her abilities late, but they manifested at the perfect time...a guard caught her with some other kids, in a secure computer room." She rolls her eyes a bit. "Because Roxy just HAD to sneak a smoke. But Caitlin found out what was going on, then they got attacked by a guard, and in the middle of that, well.' She holds her free hand a foot or two above her own head. "Gained two feet, a perfect body, and enough muscle power to throw a tank through a wall. So good timing there."

She smiles at the memory as she confides. "...I think that's sort of why I had a crush on her so long, when I first saw her busting into my cell like that, all wearing what was left of her clothes and just reaching over to break my chains off. All majorly heroic." she admits, with a faint smile.

"She and the others, they grabbed who they could. My father's military unit, some of the retired members, they'd figured out what was happening and attacked the facility about the same time. Gave us all cover to get out. One of them helped us move underground, set us running. And we've been moving around since then, until here." She breathes out. "...it's good to tell someone this. I feel like I've been holding it down so long..."

Moonstar has posed:
Dani grins a little as Sarah describes Caitlin, "I'm not really into redheads, but yeah, can't blame you there." She chuckles a bit at the mental image, then smiles over at Sarah, "Well, if I told this to the teachers at my school, I'm pretty sure they'd take you guys in if you wanted to come along. But... I'm not gonna tell them if you don't want me too." She looks at Sarah with a serious expression, "You told me. You weren't telling them. But I know they could help you guys out, if you wanted." With that, she stops walking and just hugs Sarah tightly, not saying anything more.

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah woofs a bit as you stop and hug her, then slowly slides her arms around you, squeezing you gently against her as she nuzzles against your hair quietly, her eyes closing. "...it'd be wrong to want to be your friend and keep something like that from you." she says softly. "And...I don't know. They're still hunting us. We lost them, and New York is huge, which is why we stopped here, but...we don't know if they're still out there. We can't use IDs or social security or anything that might put us on the grid. If I went to this school, if we did, it might draw them to it." She opens her eyes, sliding a hand up to cup under your chin, tilting it up slightly so she can look into your eyes. "I don't want to endanger you, or your friends or teachers." she says seriously.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani actually... giggles at that. "You... endanger /us/?" She then sighs softly, looking at Sarah with a wry expression, "Do you want the long or short list of the people that have tried to tangle with the School and the people there? And yet, we're still here." She grins, and gently places her hands over Sarah's as the older girl holds her chin, "But, hey, if you ever decide you want to try and come in from the cold, we'll be waiting, okay?" She sounds pretty serious about that too, even as she turns her head slightly to kiss Sarah's hand.

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah raises a brow, her lips quirking at the wry expression, then smiles a bit as you catch her hand to kiss at it. "Sure. Maybe that will work." she says gently. She peers at you. "You're a good person, Dani Moonstar. I can see why someone might want you to make the equivalent of an Asgardian angel.' There's that twinkle back in her eyes.

Moonstar has posed:
Dani grins, "So're you, Sarah Rainmaker... sempai." She chuckles a bit, "Well, I just hope this means we can get a second date, because I've liked the first one so far." Her eyes twinkle back at Sarah, her smile growing quite a bit, "Maybe next time you can come up to Westchester and we can hit Harry's. You can meet some of the other folks."

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah mmms, smiling at that. "I would love to meet your friends sometimes, sure. Okay, next choice of dinner and dancing is yours then." she says playfully. "I'll make sure to practice my moves so I'm not too much of an embarrassment, at least."

Moonstar has posed:
Dani gives Sarah a smile, then leans up and plants a light kiss on her lips, "You're never an embarrassment." She knows Sarah was being teasing, but figured to take the opportunity anyway as she winks, "Not sure if Harry's has a dance floor, but maybe we can make one. I know they do karaoke."

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah gets a pleasantly suprised look at the kiss, though she then looks a little wary at the suggestion in place of dancing. "...karaoke?" she says hesistantly. "Well, ah...sure?" Says the girl who only really sings in the shower, and then only when no one else is around to critique.

She smiles at you softly, then murmurs. "As for date, well...I asked you to dinner because I wanted to spend time with you and get to know you more, I wasn't trying to lay more on you than that. I guess it is though, isn't it? Though I'll happily hang out with you without it having to be one." she says amusedly. "I don't have a whole lot of friends, and definitely no one else from the rez. And definitely not many at all I'd share my past with."

Moonstar has posed:
Dani nods, and grins, "Well, I didn't think you were, but I... well, I feel pretty comfortable around you. And not just because you saved my life or we spooned together on the way back to the School on my horse." She smiles, "I like you a lot Sarah, and I want to spend more time with you, when I can. I mean, I know I'm gonna be busy as heck once school starts for real, and I'm sure you've got your things to do..."

And then Dani notices the stricken look Sarah gets about karaoke, and laughs, "Or we can just get a dance floor somewhere. There's got to be one in Westchester, right?" She looks at Sarah, and says seriously, "I'm not sure where we're going, but I think it's going to be a fun ride."

Rainmaker has posed:
"Me too." Sarah admits, getting a faint smile. "You make me feel really...comfortable. Like I can be myself." She grins a bit. "The spooning was nice too though." she can't help but add, leaning in to playfully eskimo kiss you, then brushing her lips against yours gently for a moment before she pulls back. "Nono, I can do karaoke, I just...don't really sing in public." she says sheepishly. "I can try it though. And it's fine if you need time for school...I'll just be a layabout, all not having any classes to worry about." she teases softly, taking your hand again as she starts to walk with you.

At your words about how you feel, the serious tone, she looks back to you, that slight smile brushing her lips again.

"Yes. Me too." she says softly, thoughfully, but wistfully too. "I'm looking forward to seeing...where our steps take us."
