A Drink with Someone from Space
Date of Scene: 10 October 2024
Location: Joe's Bar, Kingsbridge, The Bronx
Synopsis: Logan has an unexpected drink with someone from space.
Cast of Characters: Wolverine, Kinsey MacKenna

Wolverine has posed:
Logan sits at a bar, this time at The Bronx. Normally, this is outside of his usual haunts. However, the bar has an interesting set up. Plus, he can hang out toward the back and still keep an eye on the stage. Tonight, he has a simple beer half drunk in front of him. Ocean blues settle on the crowd. Eventually, he'll take a few sniffs and the smell of someone nearby catches his attention. So, he does his best to signal for a waitress. Just wanting to order the person a drink. He's trying to assess the situation. They clearly have his attention. Although, the person may think he's after something else entirely. Those ocean blue eyes just drink it all in.

A contrast to many about is just the brown bomber coat, a pair of light blue jeans and a red and black flannel shirt. Something simple. Basic.
Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
Kinsey had barely made up her mind to go out. The fact of the Blues being on the marquee did it though. Something about the way the notes rippled over her body made her tense with a good tension. Something about the Blues just hit her *right there*. In the heart.

Of course, it didn't hurt that she had a drink of scotch - neat - to enjoy the music with. Glenfiddich to be exact. Without any real living expense to spend her money on, she could afford the occasional splurge.

She dressed very plainly, not really out on the prowl. In fact it had been years since that had happened. Between her two jobs, though, it wasn't unheard of. She did have a je ne sais quoi about her that tended to draw glances either way.

And occasionally she glanced back.

To the observant she wears a ring. Some people will know, it is a Blue Lantern ring.
Wolverine has posed:
Logan smirks and will just speak Kinsey when she's close. "Yer not like everyone else out there," and he'll give a simple knowing look. "Don't worry. I'm a friendly if yer not lookin' fer trouble. If yer looking fer trouble," Logan leave sthat phrase hang in the air. Just something the woman can grasp. Not a direct threat, but a vague enough of a promise to make his intentions known.

Then he'll leave it int he hands of the woman. Either way, Logan gets to enjoy some good music. The person that the scent belongs to now has a choice to make. Does she downplay it? Or does she go with it. Expose her nature to Logan a little bit.
Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
A long swallow of scotch is prevailed upon, while her eyes twinkle. "Oh my. So many ways that could be interpreted. But I am mostly curious why you think I'm not everyone else out here?"

There are so many reasons that he could use!

"Of course, you would have me at a disadvantage if you tried to make trouble with me. I'm at heart a pacifist." Not that Kinsey is without protection! Or ways to shut down fighting. Being a pacifist just means she has to use other ways.

~Should I be prepared? I can be?~ Kibou. Of course. Always willing to help.

~Hush for the moment. I haven't decided if he means to flirt or to cause troubles.~

Kibou pouted, but held his opinions to himself.
Wolverine has posed:
"Ya ain't human," Logan says flatly. He looks at back to her, "Been 'round a few alien races, too. Humans smell different than others. Ya smell different," it's as simple as that. Logan will point to his nose, "Muitant."

Logan smirks when she brings up being a pacifist. "I ain't lookin' to fight, but sometimes trouble has a way of findin' me. Makin's ure I didn't need to worry 'bout this bar," he looks back to her curiously. There's a pause as he just watches her.

"Name's Logan," he'll give her a nod. "What's yer poison tonight. My treat," and he won't pry about whys he's here. Logan will simply take rher word, for now.
Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
"I could be a human. For the longest I believed that I was." Kinsey shrugs, and looks at her drink. "I could use another. But I probably should be buying you a drink. It's not like I have an expensive lifestyle most of the days. Glenfiddich if you insist."

When he proclaims himself a mutant, things fall into place. "Ah. Not that you might worry, but my first job was in xenobiology." The study of aliens, which in a way mutants were. "Logan you say?"

She turns in her seat, and proffers her hand. "Kinsey McKenna. I work on the Mackenzie Space Station. Though I divide up my time working along the Kree-Skull border. It's a long story."

She waves her ringed finger. "It comes with a territory. I'm a blue lantern." Take that as he wishes.
Wolverine has posed:
"Yer only part human, the other scent stands out. "I got the money. If yer native, call it a peace offerin'. If yer not native, call it a welcome to Earth gift," he says pointing that out.

"So, yer smart n' workin' out in the stars," and then he nods a little bit. "Don't those two hate each other?" he has some vague idea about the rivalry from his own time in space. Although, brief, information does get exchanged.

"I've been to space before," he just says it all matter of factly.

Confusion does strike his face when the blue ring comes out, "A what?" Logan's face furrows a little bit as this is new territory for him.
Wolverine has posed:
"Yer somethin' alien. Reminds me of Shi'ar, but different. Not human," he shrugs a little bit.

Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
"It was a wonderful opportunity, I should say. Thank you, then. And the next will be my treat, fair is fair." Kinsey nodded. "I was raised here, as a human. So it's not quite a welcome to earth drink. More like, happy vacation drink. I've just come back from a long haul. And yes.. those two races have a hate on for the opposite."

For just a minute Kinsey looks bone deep tired. Then she shakes her head, and immediately her smile is back.

"You have? What did you think of it. Space, I mean. At the Mackenzie Space Station I could have been on earth for the amount of space I saw." She laughs at her joke.

Watching him lose the conversation at the point of mentioning she is a Lantern, she gives a small smile. "Ah. I didn't know about them either, before I became one. Essentially there are certain entities who are gifted rings, and each ring colour has various things it does. Mine is Blue. Hope. If I shall fail to resonate Hope, Kibou - my ring - would go back to Odym and await another guardian. I pair naturally with Green Lanterns. Which is the truth, but nothing you need to worry about."
Wolverine has posed:
"Fair," Logan says about next time. A free drink, it's something he won't turn down. Those ocean blue eyes looking from her to the bar. Just keep the attention on her. "I believe it," Logan knows of a deep hatred. So, two races hating each other for eons makes sense.

"Me n' space are complicated. Met the shi'ar. Fought em', too. Siblings, power strugle, fight that sorta thing. I wasn't exactly gettin' a tour," memories of days long since passed move before his mind. "I remember it bein' breath takin' n' then fightin' happened shortly after that," so it was like admiring something beautiful only to have a war break out around you, basically.

"Got it. So yer somethin' an object from space was drawn to. Hopefully, it's a good relationship," thinking of the Phoenix, Logan really hopes that this blue hope is actually that. "The phoenix was supposed to be peaceful, remember that," he says when it comes to the blue ring.
Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
She finishes her first scotch.. or was it her second? She had been here long enough..

Waiting for her gifted scotch, Kinsey nods. "The Kree aren't terribly impressed with the Shi'ar as well. It's not quite a war on three fronts, but close. As for peaceful, all Blues don't have the absolute inability to take an offensive stance. I just.. can't. I've tried and I freeze up and feel ill. It's not that I can't stand up for people, but I haven't found the way to harm one on one."

She gets a line between her eyebrows. "I can do lots of things that skirt the issue. As things become offensive, though, I can't follow through. When I was younger, most of the time, all it needed was to stand up against the bullies. Or put myself in between them and the target. Bullies really didn't want a fight with a person who was secure. Thank god they didn't push the issue. It might have gone differently."

Here, Kinsey grins. "I keep waiting for you to ask me what race I come from."
Wolverine has posed:
"Shi'ar ain't impressed wit' anyone but themselves," Logan says honestly. They seem to be very exclusive. Those ocean blues look at the owman talking about space races from an upclose perspective. "Well, there's a difference between startin' a fight n' ending one," Logan just smirks a bit as he looks to Kinsey for a second.

"I'm curious, but I thought that would be rude or something. I don't know manners in this situation," he says honestly. Sometimes he does try to follow them, but not often.
Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
"The Shi'ar are.. well, even I can't think of a redeeming quality for them."

The waitress brings them a new set of scotch.

"Thank you. Can you put the next ones on my card? And keep them coming." She looks to Logan, to confirm that that would be okay.

Swirling her drink, she becomes quiet. "Ironically I have become more and more certain that it wasn't chance that had them send me three. This was before knew, and I guess nothing that I have, or would have done, changes.. Carol noticed me first. Pardon. Captain Marvel."

Her identity was public.

"Since then, I have looked at my blood. Funny thing, the years that I spent learning about Genetics, and Xenobiology, I never looked at my own blood." Her she laughs again. "I'm not sure what I think of this. My mother left me a box, saying I would know when to open it. So far, I haven't been brave enough to open it."
Wolverine has posed:
Logan will give a nod to the drink, but when the waitress leaves he'll speak. "Some are okay," Logan did see a few good ones out there.

"Well, no one expects to be different. Y'know, so I don't blame ya fer not checking," and then he raises a brow about a box. "I guess it depends. Do ya want to see how deep the rabit hole goes or are ya happy with life now?" He raises a brow to her curiously. "Box like that will change things. Probably."
Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
"I'm Kree."

She waits for that to sink in. Kree. War-like. Fierce. All about being the best - and not particularly putting IQ ahead of war-type attitudes. Sure the commanders were smart, but they backed every order with an iron fist - so to speak.

Kinsey was as far away as you could be'

Unless you counted her ring.

Kinsey had thought of that too.

"I was at my apartment, gathering the box. I haven't decided yet." Oh, she has decided. But when. "My mother told me inside I would learn more about who and what I am. I can't ignore that, especially as who and what I am has made an impression that I don't understand."
Wolverine has posed:
"Take it from me. Ya might know want to know 'bout yerself. If yer happy now, might be easier not knowin'," Logan says honestly. The weight of truth rings in his words.

"But if ya need a shoulder. I can offer ya one," because he knows how hard that weight may be to carry despite curiousity. It's hard to say what's worse, knowing or not knowing.
Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
Kinsey chortles under her breath. "That's what Kibou keeps telling me. In truth, I have been putting it off. I'm certain if my mother were alive she would have broached the issue long before now."

"I told you!"

"Kibou! What have I said about inside and outside voices, and what are you supposed to be using?"

There is a sound like a muffled sigh. "Inside voice."

"So..?" Kinsey reprimands him.

~But I was right. Logan said the exact thing I have been telling you.~ Kibou sounds smug to Kinsey.

"Do you see what I have to put up with?" Her laughter takes away the sting, and is full of fondness for Kibou. "He's still young."
Wolverine has posed:
"So. What's it like having a ring talk to ya?" Logan looks at her for a moment. "Like a voice in yer head that ain't in yer head," he's curious about that one. Just seeing how the two intereact, it'as amausing. Logan's never had an expereince liek that, but he's heard stories.

"Tell me somethin'. Are ya happy? If ya think on yer life now, are ya? If ya aren't, what would make ya happy?" he asks curiously. Those eyes just leveled on Kinsey.
Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
Kinsey sits back, one hand on her drink, her eyes the same colour of the whiskey in the glass. "You know, I can't remember what it was like before. His voice is always when I need it. And, sometimes? When I don't."

Her eyes twinkle for a moment.

"Kibou is a computer. An intelligent computer that has its own personality. Without him, I would be lost. Mind you, without him, I wouldn't be a Lantern. So.."

"As for what would make me feel happy? So many ways I am happy. I'm proud of my achievements at work. As a Lantern. As a human. I'm in my thirties. One could say I regret not having a husband, or children. But I don't feel that way. It would be nice to have a partner, or a friend, but I don't regret anything up to now."

She turns the question around.

"What would make YOU happy, Logan?"
Wolverine has posed:
Logan nods a little bit just listening. Kibou seems to be a better entity than the Phoenix Force. Still, it makes him question things. Old memories, bad memories, but he pushes past that for now.

"I think everyone wants a friend or a partner at least," Logan admits honestly.

Then he should see what's coming, but Logan really doesn't. So, that simple question does throw him for a loop internally.

"I used to know. I don't know. I think it's the same as it was, but names n' faces are different now. Haven't figured out the names n' facespart though," he sighs and takes a long sip of his drink. "Thought I found peace wit' someone. She wanted someone else n' now I find myself wantin' that peace again, but unsure how to find it."
Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
"Ah." Kinsey nods very softly. "Peace. Something that looks different for every person. And why shouldn't you want someone you can relax with? You're a mutant. I can only imagine what that entails. Without Kibou I'm an ordinary.."

She stops.

"I guess I'm not human. I never thought about it prior to this moment. I pass for human, but really I'm not. Damn."

She shakes her head. "But we're talking about you. This person - this female - what was she like? She must have been special to get under your skin so deeply." A sad, soft smile comes with that.
Wolverine has posed:
"She was, but she wanted someone else. So, I wasn't goin' force someone to be in a place they didn't wanna be," Logan admits there. "I'd rather not talk 'bout her. rather focus on the future, whatever the Hell that is," he smirks. Then he takes a drink and pulls it up to his lip. Drinking it slowly as he just savors the drink.
Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
"Fair enough." Kinsey lifts her glass to Logan before drinking. Slowly placing it down, she grins. "Well, then you still have to answer my question. Knowing you want something isn't the same as focusing yourself on that."

"For example, what are you doing here? I mean, I'm a pretty hot chick, but you weren't here for me." She nods to Logan.
Wolverine has posed:
"I was thinkin' of tryin' to meet people at a bar, but I been strikin' out at dating apps." He shrugs a bit. "You are awesome don't doubt it," he says honestly. Those ocean blues on her for amoment. "I just sorta wandered in, waited to see what happened."
Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
A chuckles issues forth from Kinsey. "Then I stand corrected. I could say you found me."

She frowns. "You don't look like a man who needs dating apps? Are your prospects so slim that you had to rely on them? Albeit, I am not very familiar with what they are today."
Wolverine has posed:
"Careful or I'll wonder what yer lookin' fer," Logan smirks looking at her for a moment. Then he taps the spot in front of him. The tender in front of him nods and begins another spot.

"What were you here for?" Logan asks her and then the comments about prospects being so bad he had to turn to them. "I was tryin' to be modern. Tryin' to put myself out there So far, not a good result," he looks at her.

"What were ya hopin' happened tonight? Generally speaking."
Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
"Oh boy! That question."

Kinsey finishes her drink, and sets the glass for the waitress to retrieve it, while she gets their new drinks. "That is a loaded question. In truth I told myself I deserved a time to think of nothing more pressing that a drink and some music."

She shrugs, and thanks the waitress who has brought the current round. "In reality, I wanted to be near people so that I wouldn't be tempted to dwell on my current problems. The usual. That I found you was a bonus. I missed my peak period for dating long ago."
Wolverine has posed:
A smirk pulls at Logan's lips, "Well. Where do ya want the night to go darlin'?" he asks honestly. He looks at her. "I'm good company fer drinks n' music. Won't say yer not pretty n' that ya ain't past yer prime for datin'. Just depends on what ya want, n' what you'll do to get it," he shrugs and takes another sip of the new drink when it's brought to him.
Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
Kinsey laughs under her breath. " Do you know what I am capable of? There are lots of things that aren't offensive."

And to make it clear she waggles her brows.

Of course, one minute she is joking. The next she is quite sober. "It's not that I can't date. Or don't want to date. But, really, how can I explain my life to anyone? When I am not being a Lantern, I'm stuck in space doing experiments. Well, being the head of Sciences now. But It's really the same thing."
Wolverine has posed:
"Ya explained it to me. How bad can it be?" Logan smirks and catches the eyebrow waggle. Those ocean blue eyes focus on her as she explains soberly. "I heard. I ain't runnin'. Here ya are. How can it be so bad?" Logan looks back at her. "Just gotta find someone that'll accept ya," he knows that's a large order.

Taking another sip of the beer. "N

Taking another sip of the beer. "'N ya gotta make sure they can keep up wit' the science stuff."
Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
Kinsey looks at Logan. Golden brown meeting ocean blue. Like the sand upon the shore.

Then she smiles.

"So you say. And, no, you're not running away. Then again, you've just met me. You might change your mind." She swirls her drink. "You have a little bit of my story. What might make you decide against me in the long run. I know nothing about you though. Tat for tit, Logan."

She sits back waiting for his story.
Wolverine has posed:
"You could always tell me more n' find out if I will," Logan smirks, but look sat his glass. "I don't remember much 'bout my past before a certain point. Had a name, not even my actual name. Then I had...the result of a very horrific expiriment on me. I bummed 'round in Canada. Tried to find a purpose. Eventually got involved with the school n' found a purpose. I teach, n' I work with the school's team," he won't go into too much detail due to secrets.

"It's how I've been into space and dealt wit' everything. I'm 'The Wolverine' or just 'Wolverine,'" he knows that codenmae has some files on it. A man in yellow with three claws in each hand.
Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
~You could have asked me!~ Kibou pouts. ~iIcould have told you who he was.~

~We've had this discussion before, Kibou. Some things are more valuable to find out on your own. How would you react if we were on opposite spots and he was checking out me with you? That's a poor way to start a relationship, now, is it?~

~No.~ Kibou pouts, but he agrees. ~Some things you would rather find out the hard way,~

Kinsey ignores 'the hard way' comment.

"Wolverine.." She scans her brain for information. "Wait, you don't mean Xavier's school, do you?" She is familiar with the X-force in theory, though up till now she hasn't worked with them.
Wolverine has posed:
"Yep. I do," he givesa knowing smirk and he takes a drink. Just waiting to see how she reacts to that news. He just sees how she moves with the ring. Figuring any pauses that go through silence is the duo talking. "That's the school," he'll answer honestly and take another drink. It makes some sense since the man claims to have seen some stuff.
Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
"Hrm." Kinsey nods to herself. "That school. Before I was a Lantern I knew of it, being a xenobiologist. Though not all my compatriots had the same reaction. Which I couldn't figure. You are looking at alien races, and mutants are the definition of what most of us would hope to find."

Of course she knew a bit more. Being a Lantern.

"Well, what do you know? Your background is not quite what you say." Her eyes crinkle as she says it. "I imagine you know better. Though, I have to say, if you are the one I have heard of, you are not anything like your photograph." So to speak. She hasn't seen a photograph.
Wolverine has posed:
"My background is complicated. My age goes back a ways. Reports put me back to the second World War. Nothin' I can confirm, but most of it seems to match. "What are ya hopin' to find from me. What do ya want?" Logan looks at her. There's no annoyance in his voice. He's just curious what she's loooking for. If the background puts him in favor, or out of it. The ocean blue eyes meeting sandy gold, like two parts of the beach coming together.
Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
"No worries. When you are from, or how you got to be here.. Two things. you have made good friends at the school. Something tells me that they wouldn't be accepting of you if there wasn't a good spirit behind the facade. And two, I know in my heart of hearts you are good - no matter what went on in your past."

A little bit of her blue creeping up on her. There was a really good reason she had made the Lanterns.

Golden sands creeping to sunsets meet ocean blue deepening to midnight. "What do I want.. Do you know, I never understood my friends getting out of highschool, and again when they graduated from university. They always looked to the future and demanded to know what was next. And next. And next.. as though they could map out the future by the present. And oftentimes they were devastated where the future that they held in their imaginations fell apart."

"They lost so many precious moments by forcing them to comply. Some would say I lost time that I will never get back the way that I lived my life, but I don't believe it. Everything happens for a reason. Like this."
Wolverine has posed:
"Thanks," Logan gives a nod. OCean blue eyes looking into her eyes. "Let me rephrase. How do ya hope this moment ends?" Logan poses to her curiously. He would welcome any form of company. It's not to have someone appreciate him.

"I ain't lookin' to rush n' make ya the next whatever. Can't say I don't see potential. Can't say I don't find this conversation to be pleasant. So, guess it depends on how ya hope this ends. I'm happy either way," he looks at Kinsey. Just trying to read her, see what she would do.
Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
Kinsey's eyes crinkle at the edges. "Forgive me. I got carried away. Yes, I have enjoyed myself immensely.. It's been a long time since I could say that I enjoyed myself with the hint of promise. I would be quite happy to see where this goes."

Her features are amused as she continues on. "If I am not mistaken this would be the perfect time to kiss and evaluate. Of course I have been off the dating circle forever. I might be wrong."
Wolverine has posed:
"This would be the time to do whateve rya want. If ya wnna kiss. Then kiss me. If ya want less, then keep it less. If ya want more, say it," Logan smirks and shakes his head. "Dating's different for everyone," Logan says softly just assuring her every choice she makes, he would be alright with. "I'm bad at it, too, darlin'," he says honestly.
Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
"Hope is not something that you have. Hope is something that you create, with your actions.*" Kinsey swallows the rest of her scotch, and places the glass down carefully. "If you are trying to get rid of me it won't work.. unless you really are trying to get rid of me. In which case just say so. I'm too worn out to play games."

She moves closer. "I think I would like a kiss to set the stage. We may as well find out if we would be better friends."

And because the ball is in her court she kisses him. Firmly. Full on the lips. Tasting his lips as if she were tasting a fine wine.

He does not come up wanting.

*Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
Wolverine has posed:
"I am too upfront. If I wanted ya gone, I'd say it," and then he moves closer. Then he kisses her deeply. Although it's firm, the tongue's held at bay, but he's trying to to put the emotion behind it. All the curiousity and other emotions Kinsey brought up in him. Plus, any hopes, desires and everything else that could be promised through words or actions. It's just a simple unbridled kiss, one he's in no rush to break. Logan's just trying to savor this like an ice cold drink on a hot day.
Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
The kiss seems to last forever and a day, just as it seems to be over in a heartbeat..

Eventually, Kinsey takes a breath, and withdraws, eyes closed. "Mmmmm.. Not bad. I had forgotten what it was like."

In theory, it was a good kiss - better than most. Perhaps because the two of them were past the point of trying to impress one another, and merely let the kiss be.

~Ew yuck.~ Kibou has only witnessed a few of her kisses. And not for some years.

Laughing out loud, she says, "I think we have grossed Kibou out."
Wolverine has posed:
"Not bad? That could be fightin' words," Logan's clearly joking. He nods. "It was good," Logan looks at her for a moment. Then that laughing comes from her, "I was gonna ask if the ring had somethin' to say. Well, find hima ring friend or somethin'," he looks at her with a smirk.
Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
"Kibou is young. He hasn't had the experience yet to know when something is normal between people. Give him a couple of years to get an idea."

Kinsey looks Logan over, then nods. "It was good. I wondered. It's been so long that I couldn't decide what was going to happen. I know, silly now. But there was a moment.. So now what?"
Wolverine has posed:
A nod comes from Logan as he unders. Either the ring needs to learn, develop or both. The ocean blue eyes look at her.

"What's yer body saying. What's yer heart saying. That's the part ya follow if ya ain't worried 'bout tomoorrow. I'm here n' I ain't goin' anywhere fer a while," so that's Logan's way of saying whatever she wanted. "Yer the one that's out of practice. Tell me what yer feelin'. Cause we can keep doin' that, see what happens or anything else ya. Call it a courtesy," Logan knows that Kinsey may need a moment to adjust.
Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
Sitting back, she turns her drink glass upside down to indicate she is down.

"There was a moment when I thought about bedding you. After that kiss, though, I would like to play it out a little longer." Kinsey reaches across and touches his hand. "Have you seen .. no.. of course you have. What was it like growing up in Canada?"
Wolverine has posed:
Logan smirks, "Nothin' wrong wit' that," then he exends hs hiand so she can touch his hand. He would try to lace their hands together if she wanted that. "It was cold, some nights could be unbearable, but parts of it were very beautiful. Depends on where you are, time of day, couple of things like that. A beautiful place if you find the right spots," he looks at her. "Why? What are ya thinkin' 'bout wit' Canada?"
Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
Her fingers twin with his. "Don't get ahead of yourself. The odds weren't great I would have followed my proclivities. I did say 'thought.'" Kinsey chuckles, and squeezes his hand.

"I was wondering if you had watched the Northern Lights. Up close and personal."
Wolverine has posed:
Shaking his head, "Least yer honest 'bout that," Logan doesn't fault her on that front. His ocean blue eyes looking forward again. "I have. Live in Canandian wilderness long enough, you'll see em' better than most places," although a few have it beat in spades.

"They're stunnin'. Nothin' like em' on the planet, but a few things might come close," he says before taking another drink.
Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
Kinsey lets go of his hand, the better for him to drink. "I was just wondering. There are tons of perks being a Lantern, and so few people you can share them with. I haven't gone into the woods for peace and quiet as a vacation, but I have sat on a hill amongst the trees and watched them. I wonder why I haven't gone vacationing up there? It's not like I can't afford it nowadays. And, honestly, I tend to be an introvert most of the time."
Wolverine has posed:
"You can afford it, just gotta afford the cabin. Or know someone wit' one," Logan says matter of factly. He takes another drink. "Why haven't ya gone on a vacation?" he asks honestly, his attention slipping toward Kinsey for a second. "You can fly anywhere," to him that's the part that stands out.
Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
She calls for a water.

"To tell the truth? I don't know. I'd say it was money, except it isn't. And my mother is dead, so it's not like I am having to spend vacations with her." She shrugs. "Usually I divide my time between being a Lantern, and working on the space station."

And no one had put two and two to realise she wasn't taking a break.

Well, Kibou noticed. But he was young, and no one had explained the concept of vacation for recharging your spirit. Which he should have, really. But Kinsey had always seemed chipper and normal..

"How much does a cabin cost.. say for two weeks? Probably one, now that I think of it."
Wolverine has posed:
There's a long pause from Logan as he thinks on it. "I know a place. Cheap. Just gotta want it and can make the trek," he knows it may not be for everyone. "I can get you the quote if you want. Like three hundred, maybe less. American," he says in case she wonders if the prices is in the native currency.

"Just tell me when ya wanna go," he says, it's not to invite himself. Logan just wants to give a heads up.
Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
Setting back in her chair, Kinsey ponders the offer - such as it is.

"Being off the grid isn't a problem!" She chuckles. "And you haven't seen the privies on the space station. They are better than they once were, but it's still not Star Trek. Don't think too long about the science of decomposition and reclamation of matter in Star Trek. Even today.. it can be disgusting if you have a weak stomach."

She taps her fingers along the waterglass she has. "Quiet. Isolated. No one to want my attention. A fireplace.. books.. whatever I want to eat.. Sleep in till the crack of noon.." She doesn't get up late. That is a small lie, but creates the illusion of a vacation. "Sounds wonderful. How can I get in touch with the owner?"

Kibou nearly bursts with something to say.

~"Shh! In a minute."~
Wolverine has posed:
"I didn't say off grid was a problem, just might be more remote than you're used to," Logan says a bit. His gaze drifts back to her.

"Pretty much. TV only good fer movies ya got," Logan says honestly as he looks to her for a moment. "I can be a liason. When do ya want it?" he asks, curious about when she would pick. Those ocean blues watching for a moment. He'll take another sip of the ever dwindling drink.
Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
Kibou gave up trying to point out what Kinsey should have figured out herself. And since it wasn't earth shattering information, for once Kibou held his tongue.

"I'm not worried about tv. We don't have cable on the space station. Not like earth. A few old favourite movies. Lots of books. All should be good."

Of course, Kinsey doesn't mention that she would likely bring up her box.

"I would like to go there in the fall as opposed to winter. Say.. In a week?"
Wolverine has posed:
"I'll let him no. Any requests or questions?" Logan asks as he figures Kinsey would be fine in a kind of place like the cabin. However, he still wants to warn her.

"What day ya thinkin'?" he asks looking back to Kinseyl. "I'll have to make arrangements sooner than later, but easily done," he knows it'll be simple To Kinsey it'd probably take a bit of talking. Logan knows it'll take a lot less than that.
Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
"Well, I really would prefer to be there from the 18th of October till the 3rd of November? Can you make that happen? I presume it has running water. The heat though.. fire? And I'm guessing generator electricity?" Kinsey looks to Logan, waiting.

She'd been raised in Hell's Kitchen, but this is.. different. Though she had been out on space for several years. The outback of the Rockies was different, but in some ways, the same.
Wolverine has posed:
"I can try," Logan says and he givesa nod. "Power. Water. Heat n' the means to make it," Logan says honestly as he looks out a window. "Might take some elbow grease wit'it," Logan figures she's not above that. "Fridge n's tuff, too. It'll do."
Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
"I am not looking for a five star resort. You do know that?" Kinsey chuckles. "Just a place to be quiet and away from the humdrum of life."

Not that her job on the space station was filled with people! Kinsey wanted peace and quiet. Being a Lantern with a route such as she had, her need for downtime had been put off, and put off again, till it was several years out of date, and she had earned every bit of quiet she hoped she'd find at the cabin.
Wolverine has posed:
"Nope. But most people will run when ya say things like 'outdoor shower,' 'wood stove' n' the list goes on." Logan has more than that, but making things warmer with firewood may be outside of one's realm of comfort. "So, I try to warn people," he admits honestly. Logan just wants her to know everything that could be coming her way.
Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
Kinsey regrets not having a drink now. But she has her water, which she stirs around in her glass, making the ice cubes clink.

"Well, you can tell the owner that I was raised in Hell's Kitchen. sO, in some cases it is a step up from my childhood." She's kidding.. isn't she? "As for the dangers. He doesn't need to know about the pacifism. And besides, in most cases that doesn't kick in. After all, the odds of a robber trying to hurt me are almost nil, and I have things in my pockets to deal with things such as that."

"And again, the space station is still not decked out like Star Trek!" She laughs. "It's much better than 30 years ago, but we haven't got that type of technology yet. And that last I knew, there wasn't any staff wizard to wave his or her hands to make it be something that it's not!"

Kinsey frowns then. "Do I come across so delicately?"
Wolverine has posed:
"It's more fer me you that I say this," he will smirk and nod. "I'll make arranagement wit' the guy. If something pops up, you'll have to adjust." Logan looks forward again. "I know where ya live ain't Star Trek or Wars, but most people don't like to rough it," and that's where he is coming from. "Well, that time is comin' up. Should I start to make my rounds now?" he asks. "Make sure yer ready fer yer first real break in ages?" he presumes she's a workaholic without truly knowing her schedule.
Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
"Ouch. Would you like your dagger back?" Kinsey mimes pulling it out, wiping it, and passing it back to Logan. "I am not a workaholic!"

Kibou, and her stats right up the highschool and beyond would say differently.

"I do yoga!"
Wolverine has posed:
"Yer a hero n' ya work in space. I'm a hero n' a teacher, and sometimes I don't think I got a life. Yer workin' longer n' harder than I do," Logan's very quick to point out. He is just surmizing. "I work out, too," Logan again, points out the obvious. Just showing she is -probably- a workaholic.
Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
"Fine."Kinsey relents. "I might be a workaholic. Might be. Really, I should give up my position of Chief Scientist. But, dammit, I like my job! I am good at it!"

Even as she says that, Kinsey knows the gig is up. She IS a workaholic."

"I take some time?" Witness her listening to a jazz band.

"You are a workaholic. Almost all Lanterns are. That's one of the reasons we pick you. You are filled with the need to make worlds better." Kibou uses his outside voice so that Logan can confirm it.
Wolverine has posed:
"Bein' good n' bein' a workaholic are two different arguments, darlin'," Logan says honestly as he isn't about to argue about competancy. She seems very competant.

"I don't know if that's the only reason, but seems to be a side ffect." He can't see any lantern having a lot of time off.
Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
Kinsey mock-glares at Kiboo. "It isn't the whole reason. It's not in the first five reasons I would guess. And, fine. My whole life depended upon doing well. Workaholic was a side-effect. And when my mother dies, there didn't seen to be a reason to slow down. But!"

And here she holds up a finger. "I take care of myself physically too." She may lean on the workaholic side of fitness, but she's not telling Logan that.

"Besides, if I take this vacation away from it all.. I've got a pile of books that I have been meaning to crack open the spines and enjoy." Some are actually fiction! Some. Not all.
Wolverine has posed:
"Well, I'll let em' know to leave some weights 'round or somethin'," Logan smirks a little bit. He feels good to have won that point. Although, he will finish his glass. "Should give me yer number so I can confirm details." That would be useful.
Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
A laugh escapes her. "I wondered who would ask for the exchange of numbers first."

Kinsey has little laughter lines about her eyes. "You do plan on giving me yours as well?" She pulls out her phone. "It might be presumptuous to offer, but if you had some time free, I could use a native to show me around?"
Wolverine has posed:
"Alright," Logan's a little surprised, but not arguing it. He will give the number without any fuss. "I charge," he winksa t her and then he looks at her. "I'll be in touch," he gives a small yet genuine smile.
Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
"You strike me as many types of things, but a gigolo you aren't." Kinsey finishes the exchange. "And, no, you are under no obligation to visit me. I'm a big girl. I swear I won't be angry if you don't. It was just an idea. You've probably got teaching duties now that I think of it."
Wolverine has posed:
Logan looks at her, "Just cause I ain't fawnin' to get yer number don't mean I don't want to hear from ya," he speaks this firmly. Those ocean blue eyes look at her for a moment. "You'll see me," he doesn't say how, or why, just that he would. Like yes, it's going to happen.
Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
"Good." She, too, says it emphatically. With an amused tone to her voice.

Then Kinsey looks serious. "I do spend a lot of time in space. You can always send messages to the MacKenzie Space Station. They will hold onto them for me, and make certain I receive them. It may be sometimes weeks before I get to return. I'm telling you this so that you are informed and you may just decide to have this stop as friends . It might be easier for you to just be friends."

"But I hope you will take a chance."
Wolverine has posed:
"I got contacts. I can do space voyages," Logan says just matter of factly. Like this is somehow simialr to having a friend with a private jet. He can somehow apparently get into space, possibly regularly.
Kinsey MacKenna has posed:
"Oh?" Kinsey smiles, a smile that reaches her eyes. "I look forward to learning what will come of this, then. And can't wait until you meet up with me." He did say he would visit without warning. "All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well." (Julian of Norwich)

"Until next time we meet again. And if your friend needs a deposit, just call and I will get it to you."
