Interlude: Lobsters and life
Date of Scene: 18 December 2024
Location: Long Island Sound - Conneticut.
Synopsis: A bit of debate on Nephilim and giganticism - And the devil
Cast of Characters: Sinister, Lucifer

Sinister has posed:
So things happened -- deep delves into the dark dimension.

That was days ago though and holiday markets happen, antiquing, drives along the coast and a surreal moment where a determination for adventure occurred in the form of driving to a Walmart supercentre and wandering around.

One could find all of human life in a Walmart, depending on the time of day, or night, that one attends. All shapes, all sizes, all colours and creeds, the weird and the banal.
And though thanksgiving is only just gone by, the christmas muzak could in fact be a technique employed in Hell.

But then there was a rather nice coastal farmer's market where a Maine lobster or two /did/ get purchased, along with late fall vegetables and some quaint local produce.

It's terribly domestic. Less so, is Essex setting up a little off-the-dock lobster crate so that they don't die before their time, dipped into the cold water of the Sound. The cars got polished that day and all small handiman jobs were completed without complaint.

Now? Sinister is sitting in the living room with his laptop on his lap, staring at a live-feed and looking quite fascinated. A coffee sits nearby, background classical music plays, but he's kind of ignoring both. His hand covers his mouth and lower jaw, occasionally stroking, deep in thought.
Lucifer has posed:
Things. Places. Purchases! The trip to Walmart was...interesting...the music...distateful. "Who plays this dribble weeks before..." Wails the Devil as they walk through and around and LOOK at all the things.

He maybe bought a Xmas tree. Not a traditional one tho. This is a pre-lit weeping willow. It suits them.

Fresh Market. Lobsters. Veggies. And things for a well rounded meal. Which will be had soon enough. They've also likely extended what was a few-day vacation into a semi-sabatical. Those can be a thing. It also means certain guests aren't always around right now.

Which is fine when one comes padding through the house in nothing but silken black boxers with little red tridents stamped all over and nothing else. Perfectly tanned, blemish free skin on display and lightly misted with water from the endings of a shower.

"Tell me, Pinky. Are you pondering what I'm pondering?" He asks, sitting on the arm of the couch while side-eying Nathaniel.
Sinister has posed:
THis is a trick isn't it?

"I think so, Brain, but can the Gummi Worms really live in peace with the Marshmallow Chicks?" Sinister responds without missing a beat. And THEN he looks over. There is a long look down, then a just-as-long linger on the way up again. "Perhaps, this is not comparable or parallel. What was I saying again?"

Blinking, he looks up. UP. "The massage head shower is doing well, I take it?"
Lucifer has posed:
Lucifer gives a grin, and just like The Brain, he doesn't really give an answer. He watches as the gears slowly turn. Click into better placements. Then he nods.

"Something about gummi worms and marshmallow chicks living in harmony. I bet they do, already, in CandyLand." He says in reply and then floats over his cigarette case, pulls two, lights them and proffers one.

"It is doing very well. And I fixed the stair step. Just needed a little elbowing back into place. So. What's got you all screen focused?"
Sinister has posed:
Well, the Devil will be the devil, will he not?

The entire process of the float of the cigarette case and lighting; that becomes a superlative focus for all of a couple of long moments before the gaze loses the battle with gravity and drops slowly down to the natural low point of the pitchfork boxers for just enough moments for it to be awkward in -any- other circumstance.

The smile speaks volumes.

ANd then that's done, replaced by taking the cigarette and ferrying it to the other hand, that he might control the computer with a fingertip upon the machine and use the closer hand to rub the girdle of Lucifer's hips in domestic affection. Mischievously, the elastic is lightly twanged at the back, just the once.

"I'm observing --" he informs, pulling up the camera view wider so it fills all the screen. It's an incubator tank, within which floats a slight unfortunate. It is winged, it is maturing, it has dark hair and mostly has a to-die-for physique, but there's wierd muscular growths and it seems strangely out of proportion in places. "I grew it from a combined cell."
Lucifer has posed:
Lucifer gives a little smile still while he feels those eyes appreciating him. Then again, who wouldn't appreciate a being of his physique displayed so boldly on a couch arm?

Mostly those who oppose the male figure - he supposes.

Then there's a ferried cigarette, the cheeky twanging of his boxers and finally the admission to what Nathaniel is doing with the screen.

As the camera is made wider so one could see, he looks this way and that way, then peers closer. "It looks..." He seems to think about his words. "Well. To be honest. It looks rather odd. Also, something something, playing god, blah blah..." He doesn't really care, but being a pest like that just makes him feel more like himself. "The combined cells of what? The hunchback of Notre Damme and a chicken?"
Sinister has posed:
"Human and angel." Sin replies, having proved that the male physique is not something opposed in his own philosophy, so much appetite whetting has been committed to memory.

"I admit to having become a bit intrigued, given what the memories unpacked from Azazel conveyed. I wanted to see why it was so... significant."

He looks up. Looks back. "Choice selection, perhaps, is what makes a difference there. But the blood, so to speak, seems to combine to giganticism, in one form or another. Makes sense. The first of the nephilim were supposedly giants, according to oral tradition written down long after the fact. Grain of truth in a sea of fiction?"
Lucifer has posed:
"I think the angel is eating the human... or maybe the other way around..." Lucifer quips and then tilts his head the other direction. It doesn't make the image any better but there they go.

"Which memory or memories intrigued you?" He asks out of sheer curiosity.

And then the male figure, tired of his posing, shifts to where he can lay back and place his head in the lap of his lover. There are usually hair strokes that come with such a move, and his hair is all damp and smells of brimstone and Devil. As it likely always does.

"The first of a lot of things were supposedly giants. Though what makes a giant? We're still giants to an ant. And there are things that exist which are giants to us. So where has the evolution really gotten us?" He may be way off kilter, but he tries to understand.
Sinister has posed:
"Well..." How do you reply to that? Well, first off, you'll float the computer to the side so that there's space for such things as heads in laps. Hopefully, he smells less of the brimstone and more of the devil, because smelling like rotten eggs all the time is probably not the most pleasant way of attracting the copious creatures that have swarmed Lucifer in days gone by. Truth.

Cigarettes are smoked, ash is flicked, hair is stroked.

"The blueprints of a great deal of multicellular organisms, not so much organelles, have this dormant giganticism issue. Somewhere along the line, evolution realized that being that large meant starvation, or it meant knocking your head on every cave roof. Whichever it was...." he shrugs "...and it became switched off. Deus ex Machina is written in the Blood of Life itself, it thinks for itself beyond our control, which is fascinating. But giganticism happens in some hybridization rather astonishingly. Breeding Tigers and Lions together does it. As does breeding a grizzly with a polar bear, they end up larger than their parents." He shrugs. "But I think there's enough harmony -and- dissonance in human and angel that it shows up ... weirdly. Like the disease version, rather than the whole thing. But..." he grins down at the devil "...that -was- very philosophical of you."
Lucifer has posed:
"Does that mean I get a gold star?" Lucifer asks, looking up at his lover with a lopsided grin.

Yes, more like the Devil and less like brimstone. It's more as though he smells of heat, if heat had a scent. Something that flares the nostril but isn't unpleasent.

Then there is listening to how Nathaniel breaks it down even further. The whys of evolution turning off the giant code in the genetics of human life down the pipeline. Yet it opens up in certain pairings. But here, in the clinical trial, it seems to have gone somewhat lopsided. "Is there any way to cure it? Well, maybe if it were an actual disease. Fix it perhaps? Or are you watching to see if it will fix itself?"
Sinister has posed:
"Kind of the latter," Sinister replies, turning strokes to scratches, doing a spot of neck massage whilst there, with strong, precise fingers. It doesn't last though, as his hand comes to rest on a bare chest, just to the side of the heart he can feel beating in the chest. "I didn't let consciousness develop, so I am simply studying the full dilemma. I've a couple of others growing, just to see if its universal, or unique to each time. So far..." a glance to the computer and more vats with similar incidents of odd growth can be seen. "...it looks like it always happens to one or another degree. But, they don't end up sterile. Evidence of Nick proves that."
Lucifer has posed:
"Maybe there's something to the consciousness that...negates the....uhm..." Lucifer tries so very hard to come up with something that makes any bit of sense. Then he fails. He's really not good at all of this science stuff, and while he tries and it could be argued he's gotten better. He's no where close to understanding it all. "Well. It seems to be an interesting problem to try and see if you can solve. Course, this is kind of an outward version of what we found in your psyche... so... it does not surprise me in the slightest that this is what you are doing." Then he leans up enough to proffer a sudden kiss against lips. Sinful! "Any chance you'll take a small break sometime soon?"
Sinister has posed:
"Oh, yes, the trip you took reminded me to check on the progress. For no meagre reason, either -- I want to know what I might be in for. Now, at least, with some meditation and consideration, I might be better inspired to look at particular genomic structures, as you assembled the disassembled in your own Spectacular." The kiss lands, lingers. A question is asked and before there is a reply another kiss is returned, lingering longer.

"I could be persuaded. They aren't going to grow suddenly unless things go particularly strange. Besides I have alarms for that," is murmured. "After all, the current physical display I'm witnessing should be indulged. The Peacock does deserve the reward of his splendid show, doesn't he?" The smile is sly.

"And I can forget a while, about the possibility of what might be my own fate."
Lucifer has posed:
The move is slow, and another kiss is offered and let to linger once more before it's broken and the devil shifts to fully stand. "Well then. Put away the computer and come indulge in something a little more...physical. You'll be all the better for it... and I doubt you'll meet a fate anywhere near what's going on in your lab." He grins and then turns to saunter towards a room. Any room. But at least one with a comfy bed.
