Cast of Characters: Black Widow (Romanoff), Deadpool

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
It was a lazy Saturday morning. Meaning that Natasha had slept in until six then done her morning workout before settling down on the couch with a tablet in her hand. She had a tablet in her hand and was reading. Nothing work related. No case files. She was actually reading an ebook. Something she rarely did at this point in life.

The penthouse apartment was slightly on the cool side, a temperature she kept it at so that she wasn't as overheated after her workouts. Thus she was sitting on the couch wearing an tank top, yoga pants, socks on her feet and had a blanket pulled up over her. On the table within reach was a coffee cup though it held tea instead of java. She took a sip then continued to scan the lines on the screen.
Deadpool has posed:
Natasha Romanoff worked hard at her job, she took on dangerous missions, she was compensated well, though was that directly from S.H.I.E.L.D. or assets she had accumulated on the side while working for them and the Red Room? Wherever her financial freedom came from, she had done well for herself. Having a Manhattan Penthouse apartment was nothing to sneeze at.

But a sneeze was the least of her worries, as there was the rapt, rapt, rapt of the door. Someone was out there. They had gained access to the building, so they were a resident, or buzzed in by a resident. There were cameras in the building, some visible, others hidden. S.H.I.E.L.D. agents like Natasha Romanoff didn't take security lying down.

So she might have had an idea of what was coming, had she been monitoring it. There was ample warning. Though, even if she hadn't, there was now a voice, an all too familiar voice, "Natasha! Come on, I need you!"

It was the pleading voice of Wade Wilson, also known as Deadpool, and he was currently standing outside her apartment door, with a baby pram, except the pram didn't have an infant, but instead, Dogpool, who was dressed up in a Black Widow costume.

The pram was loaded up with things, dog treats, combs, shampoos, toys, while he also had a backpack that looked to be heavy the way it was pulling on his center of gravity. Wilson was a strong man, and he was doing well. There was probably a full bag of doggie chow in there or something equally weighty.

Instead of his usual costume, he had on a green collared shirt with red and purple flowers, a brown leather belt, white pants, brown shoes, a white hat, and sunglasses... but this was New York. It was 32 degrees outside. Sure, it was sunny, but a sunny 32 degrees. "Natasha, I know you're in there, I can hear you breathing."
Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
There had been a warning someone was coming up. She had acknowledged it on her tablet then continued her reading. Now that he arrived, she continued to read as she listened to him. Until he got to the end and she turned to eye the door.

Then held her breath. A count of 30 before she drew air back into her lungs, just to see if he was telling the truth. Then she pushed off the blanket and rose to her feet. The tablet was dropped on top of the blanket on the couch before she walked to the door.

There would be the sound of a few locks disengaging then she opened the door to eye Wade. A tick of her eyes over his attire then looking to the doggie in the pram. "Hello, Wade. I..."

That's when she saw the costume on Dogpool. Because in all truth, that caught her off guard. That was one of the reasons she liked Wade. Not many things could surprise her in this life. After a century of it, she had seen most everything. Yet, Wade managed to come up with new situations. "I suspect she isn't an actual Red Room graduate," she muttered.
Deadpool has posed:
"Oh, no, no-no-no, I couldn't subject her to that, but she did graduate from the Ruff Room, top of her class, you'd have been so proud of her, but, hey," and he reached into the right front pocket of his white pants, pulling out a mobile phone, which was pink with a Hello Kitty on the back. He put in his password, which was 6287... so that would mean MNO-ABC-TUV-PQRS. That might take some doing, but N-A-T-R was a possibility. Could there be another meaning to it, or was it simply random?

In any event, he pulled out an image of Dogpool in a graduation gown, complete with hat and the tassel moved to the side. "She's had all her shots, she's been walked, fed, bathed, given water, and she's well trained. I really appreciate you helping me out," wait, he had never discussed her helping him out. She never agreed to anything. Was there a conversation she missed?

Taking off the backpack, he set it down on the inside of her door, and it landed with an audible thud. "But I have some very bad people to find, and the summer heat of South America might be too much for her, so... could you watch over her for a few days, please, pretty please, pretty please with a cherry on top? Or whatever you want on top, a blueberry, a banana, oh, have you tried lingonberries? They're kind of a super food. Why don't more people eat them over here?"

And then, as Dogpool looked up at him, she moved her little paw. She had tiny little Widow's bites on hers, and she did something to make a blue light glow. He didn't give her actual Widow's bite, but it looked real, and was so adorable on her.
Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
As he acted like she'd already agreed, Natasha turned her attention back to Wade and watched as he earnestly tried to get her to agree to...something. She had no idea what it was at first until he mentioned South America being bad for Mary Puppins. In that moment, she knew what he was getting at. The storm clouds were there, her expression darkening. Discussion of lingonberries was ignored as she started to shut him down right there.

Only to look down at Dogpool with her little metal bands around her front ankles that had little blue lights which she activated somewhow. Maybe it was motion sensitive to the little paw being lifted like that. Whatever it was, it was freakin' adorable.

And in that moment, she knew he'd won.

"I am not exactly a pet person," she began, trying to resist for a moment even though she already knew what she was going to say as she looked to Wade's face again. "But I have a couple of days off and I can make an exception. This time. Once!"
Deadpool has posed:
Dogpool cut through the storm clouds and that darkening expression with her motion activated Widow's bite ankle bracelets, and if that weren't enough, she chose this moment to climb out of her pram, showing surprisingly dexterity for a dog.

She stood up, hind legs in the seat, fore legs on the little tray in front, and she arfed, giving a soft little playful bark. There was another one, tail wagging, and at that moment, Natasha Romanoff became a pet person. For Dogpool had decided she was one when she leapt up, towards the tank top, fully expecting to be caught. If not, she'd hit the floor. Dogs always landed on their feet right, or was that cats?

Wade beamed when she relented, "I owe you a steak dinner for this one, Red!"
Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
That she was not ready for. Natasha was focused on Wade so when the motion of the little furball--did that really apply to Dogpool since she wasn't that furry?--took the leap of faith. Which forced Nat to react by putting out her hands and catching the little creature. Then she stared down at that face with the buggy eyes and the tongue sticking out the side of her mouth. Which she quickly made sure was not close enough to her face to get any licks in either.

The little widow was cuddled in against her chest, supported with an arm beneath her and a hand at her chest.

"You do. I take it that's all her stuff in the pram?" She did use the word pram instead of baby buggy like most Americans. It was just a lot shorter.
Deadpool has posed:
Dogpool would have licked Natasha's face had she been given the opportunity, but like a Red Room graduate, she would bide her time and strike when it was least expected, just as she had when she exploded out of the Pram, or Baby Buggy, whatever they wanted to call it.

It was pretty obvious that Dogpool had accepted Natasha. They had met a few times, and maybe she could tell that Wade liked her. Then again, maybe she was smarter than the average dog. Wade hadn't really gone into the details of where she was from, or how he got her.

"Enough dog food to last, shampoos, combs, a few outfits, blanket, though I couldn't fit the doggie bed on the scooter." Wait, he showed up with a pram. How did he fit the pram on the scooter if that's what he drove here.

"Everything you should need unless some goon gets lucky and takes me out for good, in which case, you'll receive an automated E-Mail with instructions on how to access my places, and delete my browsing histories."
Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
She started to ask about the browsing history then stopped herself. A moment of contemplation was followed by a nod of acknowledgement. Because everyone needed a friend to do that. Especially people that led their sorts of lives. Well, at least most people did. A good spy never had it on their devices.

Come to think of it, she should check that when they were done. Just to be sure

"Do I really need to dress her? I mean I get a sweater against the cold but this..." She looked down at the doggo in her arms and gave her a few pets for good measure. "Seems a tad over the top." Which was the understatement of perhaps the year. And it was only February.

"You needing backup?" Not that she could if she was dogsitting but it was automatic to confirm if he was going to be good alone.
Deadpool has posed:
"Only if you have a problem with casual nudity," he said in an easy and casual manner.

Dogpool's costume probably cost as much as Black Widow's, the way it was designed to look and mimic her costume, but also was stitched in such a way to provide dog flexibility, and breathing. It wasn't encumbering her in any way, didn't get her too hot, even indoors, or too cold. And there were so many aspects of it that matched her own. Not just the belt, but there were tiny holdsters above the hind knees, the widow's bites around her front paws, the belt, and even the collar.

"Probably, but only if I'm stupid," which meant he definitely could use some backup, "but I'm armed with a wealth of 80's action movie cliches, and I know that Mary Puppins will be safe and secure in her Deluxe Apartment in the sky."
Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
The nudity comment about dressing Dogpool had her glancing at the dog then back to Wade. Natasha, wisely, opted not to comment. There was no way anything she could say in response to that would end well. Better to focus on his mission.

"You could board her for the trip and I could help back you up. Or I could see about sending someone with you as backup if you don't want to leave Mary with a stranger." Not like she was really known to the dog either yet she wasn't a stranger!
Deadpool has posed:
And in that moment, Deadpool gained telepathy. He could read Natasha's thoughts, and her counterthoughts, and her counter-counterthoughts. He knew with perfect clarity what she was thinking, and why she chose to say nothing. With a knowing nod, he lost that telepathy. But he would always look back fondly to that one time he could hear Natasha's words in his own head.

"Nat, you're not a stranger, you're Dogpool's godmother, if you want to be. There's..." And then he thought, it dawning on him that she might be, right now, the one person in all the world that he was closest to, and trusted most. It had him leaning one way, in thought, confused, and then he shrugged, accepting it, "anyway, bad guys ho!" And he started to turn, as if he was heading on a grand adventure to the elevator or stairwell.
Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
"Have fun," Natasha said simply as she watched him dismiss what he was going to say and then moving on toward his new adventure. She looked down at Mary Puppins, giving her a little nuzzle with her chin then reaching out to put the pup back into her pram. That way she could roll it all inside more easily instead of trying to steer it with one hand. She pushed it into the penthouse then glanced back one last time toward the hall, to see if Deadpool was gone from view.

Then she added, whether he was in sight or no, "Be safe."
