Cast of Characters: Gambit, Harry Dresden, Jessica Jones

Gambit has posed:
Gotham at night, especially the West Hill area, isn't a place one should be caught being out alone in as gangs, thugs, and worse roam these streets. It's not a pretty place, with tall brownstone buildings, ancient in todays world, but stuborn and sturdy. Shadows in alleys blacker than black, pulling at your very soul. Many people have lost themselves and their lives in these corridors, but tonight, other than stray dogs growling nothing much is moving.

The whine of a semi truck pulling slowly through the streets crawls around, the driver lost and looking around the faint street lamps and his own headlights for his next turn but gotham's infrastructure isn't the most well marked.

Harry Dresden has posed:
9 times out of 10 the Blue Beetle, the stalwart crusader against the forces of evil and alternative fuels...and car of Harry Dresden, runs flawlessly in the wizard's presence. It is why he drives the old beat up thing, for the reliability that the VW Bug has given the tendency for modern mechanics to break down in his presence.

Of course, this is the 10th time, which is why Harry is hoofing it down the street instead, staff in one hand and duster billowing in the wind behind him. Not the best area for people to be walking, but when you are 6'9 people usually tend to leave you alone for weaker looking prey. Usually.

Jessica Jones has posed:
Jessica was meeting with a client here in Gotham, they'd come to New York to hire her to find someone in Manhattan... she'd found them, they were dead.

Since it was night, Jess had her leather jacket on even though it was summertime still. She liked the black leather, it helped her feel concealed and hidden. She'd purchased a drink out of an old machine in the lobby of the apartment complex to help keep her cool.

Walking down the side of the street, Jones had her head down, her black hair was bobbing around her shoulders as she moved, right hand stuffed in jacket pocket while the left held onto her cup. She had on some blue jeans and a black tanktop beneath the jacket, black roper boots on her feet.

Jessica hears Harry walking ahead of her, her eyes rise up and she stares at him and that Staff he's holding. "Fuckin' Gotham..." She mutters, her red lips barely moving.

Gambit has posed:
The semi continues to roll down the street, it's long bed doesn't have much on it except a single thing covered in a heavy olive canvas, held onto the shipment with several heavy yellow straps, worn and muted by the overhead sun. The driver continues to inch forward, the truck hissing as it rolls into a stop sign before shaking violently as it sets back off again and a gear grinds as he misses a shift.

Leaning against the wall just inside the mouth of an alley, Remy's face is lit up by a cigarette inches from his face and the blue glow from a phablet in his hand, his finger scrolling down the screen, watching countless spreadsheets scroll past as he looks at what he stole yesterday. "Damn dere's a lotta names in 'ere." He mumbles to himself.

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry continues to walk along the street headed towards MacAnally's for an ale, a steak sandwich, and to do some research. He stops by the mouth of the alleyway that contains Remy, spending a moment to glance up at the moon as he pauses to wipe a bit of sweat from his brow with the back of his hand. Even at night, the humidity can be killer when you are wearing a trench coat. He glances at the truck for a moment, the sound of the grinding gear drawing his attention for a moment, and a wince.

Jessica Jones has posed:
"Nice Coat." Jessica said to Harry as they passed by each other, her voice was dry and devoid of emotion so it was hard to tell if it were a real compliment or not, but probably! ... Maybe.

Once she reached the street corner she stopped and pulled her cell phone out, giving a glance to weird activity of that truck... but hell, its Gotham, it probably has a Penguin driving it or some shit.

Jessica hadn't noticed Gambit yet, since he was in full-on creeper mode in the alleyway.

Her eyes went down to her cellphone and then back over to Harry when he stopped to glance at the skewered truck as well. "Hey, what are the odds that an Uber in this town would lead to me getting shivved by a murderer?" She asked the man with the large staff, assuming him to be a local.

Gambit has posed:
Remy peeks his head out around the corner when the truck grinds its gears and then back down to the tablet rapidly, at the time and then quickly scrolls through the information again, looking for something specific.

"Damn!" Remy says before shoving the device back into his pocket and jumping out and in pursuit of the truck. Seemingly ignoring Jessica and Harry at the moment.

The truck slowly pulls away still, easily caught up to by the mutant when on the bed the thing under the tarp turns over, a high pitched scream with a tenor backing it up as the thing turns on. Four circular red lights barely visible beneath the tarp flash on and bight blue lights shine out to the front and the thing screams as it revs. Lurching forward, the car is stopped by the many straps on top and the chains beneath, causing the wheels to smoke against the trailer.

Harry Dresden has posed:
"Hrm? Oh, thanks." says Harry to Jessica, giving the woman a nod of his head. "Keeps e warm at night." If the comment was snarky or not, Harry seems to take it all in stride, much like it wouldn't be the first time he was poked at for odd behavior.

"I'd put your odds at 20 to 1. Most murderers would likely use a gun rather than a shank. It isn't like the gunshot would be out of place in this neighborhood. If your looking for something safer, I'd suggest calling an actual cab, and double checking the hack license."

As Remy bolt out of the alleyway and onto the truck, Harry blinks "Well that isn't something you see every day." The high pitched noise causes the wizard to scrunch up his face a bit, "What in the hell?" Instinctively, the wizard reaches a hand into his duster and pulls out his blasting rod, the runes on it coming alive with a red-orange glow. "You may want to stay back, miss.."

Jessica Jones has posed:
Jessica was in the process of formulating a snappy come-back in the direction of Harry when the Cajun darted right past her, sending her black hair on her right shoulder gently across her face in his wake's wind.

"Lay off on the Drakkar Noir, will ya?!" She said at him, voiced raised a few pitches but still somewhere below a shout.

Her eyes narrowed at Remy chasing the truck and the truck's smoking wheels.

Turning to put her eyes back on Harry when he spoke again, she noted the glow down around his hand... stared at it... then looked back up at him.

"You don't have to worry about me. I've no interest in getting involved in... whatever the hell that is." She said with a light nod at the truck and the man who chased after it.

Gambit has posed:
The truck was barely moving, it was the cargo, struggling against the security measures that was smoking. The thing stopped for a brief moment and started to do the same thing but in reverse, snapping as the bonds go taut in the opposite direction. The car under the tarp seems to be trying to escape off the back of the truck.

Remy, with plenty of room between the back of the cargo and the rear of the trailer climbs up on it and steps closer to the lone hidden car revving back and forth against it's bonds and didn't quite expect this.

"Now what?" He asks himself as it lurches again.

Harry Dresden has posed:
"You know what lady..." says Harry as he looks at Remy and whatever the hell is going on in the back of that flatbed, "...that is about the best idea I have heard tonight. I don't know what in the hell is going on over there, and it is frankly none of my damned business."

Harry pauses for a moment, moving to slip the blasting rod into his coat as the runes on it fade, the smell of wood smoke wafting faintly in the air. He makes a move to go back on his original path, to ignore the happenings on the truck. He makes it a top and then sighs, closing his eyes. "Karrin will kill me." he mutters to himself, shaking his head and turning to face the truck, Remy, and whatever is under that tarp. He lifts his staff, pointing it Remy and muttering out 'Fozare.' while he focuses his will, sending a blast of pure, invisible force bout the size and speed of a softball at the mutant not he back of the truck. After all, things were 'normal' till he got involved. He must be the cause.

Jessica Jones has posed:
Jess watched, observed, narrowed her dark eyebrows in confusion at it all... she watched Remy... Byt he time Harry responded to her she was already lifting up her camera though, not a phone camera either, a real honest to goodness camera, one of the most expensive things she owned.

"Gotham being Gotham." Jessica responded to Dresden, without looking at him... she saw no casting of any magical incantations, since her eyes were on the truck and the man on the back of it.

Snap. Snap. Snap. Jessica started taking photos of it all, why? Because they could be valuable, she could make a few bucks off of them... maybe, anyway, depending on who she teased them at.

"Thats definitely not the way I was looking to get a ride tonight though." She muttered, seeing Remy fight with that vehicle under that tarp.

Gambit has posed:
Remy was stooping over to put a hand on the closest strap to him and starts to undo it when the car lurches backwards again, causing him to fall backwards in surprise when a fireball lands where he was just a moment ago.

The resulting pop, explosion and fire causes Remy to fall from the truck, rolling against the ground as he does so. The tarp catches fire and the car beneath it snaps the bond and roars backwards off the trailer, the tires squelching loudly as it falls off the bed three feet. Scrapes and crunches cry the vehicle's pain as it hits the road in a spin, facing away from the truck and towards Jessica and Harry.

All four tires start to spin and smoke as it launches forwards, towards the two P.I.s but veers at the last moment and flies down the road. The car is empty. Completely empty, as the car zooms past and into the gotham night, the scream of the turbo and the tenor of the engine echoes off the buildings as it disappears from sight.

Harry Dresden has posed:
Watching as the guy trying to steal the car falls off the truck, Harry smirks to himself. "Serves him right." the wizard mutters, just before the car launches off the platform and drives in his direction. Harry makes a move to dodge out of the way as the car comes speeding toward him and Jessica, about ready to take the other P.I. down with him in a tackle, but as the car swerves to avoid hitting them his galant gesture turns into a stumble and he ends up falling on his butt in front of her.

Jessica Jones has posed:
Oddly enough, Jessica doesn't dodge out of the way of the car, she doesn't move at all... She just stands there like a confident beast and holds her camera in front of her chest, watching the car come AT her... and she wins the game of chicken when it veers off in another direction and then races down the street, Jess' eyes following after it for a moment. "Could've offered me a damn ride!" She said after the vehicle's loud engines, disappearing down the street.

She turned then to glance at Harry who'd dodged quite nicely and she smirked at him. "I like your style, Trench." She said at him as she started to walk toward where she'd last seen Remy... something about him, she feels like she recognized him when she saw glimpses of him through the lense of her camera, but where had he gotten too?
