Scuffle for a Statue
Date of Scene: 08 August 2017
Location: Mount Royal, Metropolis area
Synopsis: Tigra spots an apparent thief in Sublime, and a tussle ensues.
Cast of Characters: Tigra, Sublime

Tigra has posed:
Somehow, Tigra got talked into doing a speaking engagement at one of the smaller universities in the area, one that has a focus on forensics and things of that nature in the crimefighting world. At times, it felt more like the students just wanted to stare at her instead of listen to what she had to say about what to look for in clues, but at least they were paying attention to something. She's not part of the exam, however.

Finished with that, the striped feline drives over to one of the more commercially-oriented parts of Mount Royal, filled with coffee shops, electronics hubs, food carts, clubs, and other things that are commonplace in college towns. Once parked, she stands at the corner of an intersection, waiting to see where her curiosity takes her.

Sublime has posed:
While you're pondering what to do next, you see something odd. Which is, a girl stepping into an nearby alley that you can just barely see down. Normally this wouldn't be too odd, save, 1) she's not dressed like your average co-ed and 2) she stepped through a wall to do it, before looking around as if orienting herself, then steps into the next wall, leading into a closed shop. At least that's what the sign on the door says. It's still got a light on inside though.

Tigra has posed:
That sight..would get Tigra's attention, but has the other woman seen her? It doesn't appear to be the case, but the one walking through walls like they aren't even there is absolutely a source of immediate interest. Looking side to side, she trots across the street in the direction of the shop itself, noting that it's not open for some reason. Lunch break? Something else? She crouches near a window, peering inside.

Sublime has posed:
It seems to be some sort of antique shop? Or at least, that's what it looks like from what you can see through the window, past the items on display in the windows through a set of bars. There's a muffled THUD and a thump from inside, and you can see a brush of motion deeper in the shop, the sign of a military style boot walking through your frame of vision. There's also a hand that has fallen to where you can see it. Not moving, but no spreading blood near it either.

Tigra has posed:
Tigra certainly isn't getting in through the window, the thought of how to get inside to further investigate this little problem is interrupted when the thump is heard from the other side of the wall. It looks a lot like a body slumped to the floor, which means this may have just become violent. "Well, crap," is all the tigress says to herself. Just in case, she tries the door. Perhaps someone forgot to actually lock it.

Sublime has posed:
It appears this is the case! Apparently they thought the sign would be enough to keep people from trying the door or something. Slipping inside, it's a fairly crowded kitch and antique shop...with examples of art and such from all over the world, but not the more fancy art you see in galleries. More things like African masks, carved foo dogs, the obligatory samurai swords on the wall (out of reach, behind the counter) with an accompanying full set of armor...lots of folk art mostly, but mixed with some more unusual pieces.

Also young man who's slumped on the floor, snoring peacefully. Your senses will detect the faint scent of chloroform on his breath.

Back through a beaded curtain at the back, you can hear some rummaging, then the sound of a wooden box being broken open.

Tigra has posed:
"Go figure," Tigra mutters under her breath, slipping inside quietly as the age of the shop's contents reach her nose. So, too, does the stuff that was used on the guy who's out cold. See if the class would have figured that out or not. At least it tells her the intruder might be non-violent, or just didn't want to draw even more attention to herself by getting into a fight.

The armor actually gets a moment's worth of admiration, not something she'd have expected to see in a place like this, but the commotion in the back leads her to speed up in getting over that way. The sound of the beads parting can't really be avoided, but her voice goes along with it.

"You break it, you bought it. Ever hear that one before?"

Sublime has posed:
The blonde whirls a bit, frowning as she lowers her hand. In it is an odd looking ebon statue with what looks like odd runs running down it. Styled humanoid figure, arms at its side, holding a wavy dagger in either hand. It's about a foot high, and looks...well, better quality than most of the stuff in the shop.

"...hey kitty cat. You've probably heard the whole thing about curiosity before, right?" she says, a little bit warily, frowning as she watches you.

Tigra has posed:
Tigra notes the statue, though right now its significance is lost on her. What could it be? Why would it be important enough to sneak in her and go to these lengths to get it?

"You can call me Tigra, so you know who's bringing you in if you don't put that back where you found it," she retorts, eyes rolling at the reply. "Three seconds to decide or explain all this to me, and I saw you do that trick with the walls. You can't surprise me with that."

Sublime has posed:
The other woman, hmmms. "Oh, well...in that case..." she says thoughfully, considering you, her eyes flicking over your tiggery form for a moment. Before she then turns and sprints towards the back wall of the building. "Byyyyyyeeeeee!" She figures she might be able to outrun you at least! Of course, there's a door that leads out the back too, so she won't have THAT much of a lead...

Tigra has posed:
"Why do they always pick that option?" Tigra asks herself, sounding exasperated for a moment before the chase clicks in. "Wrong decision, lady," she chides, and while Sublime passes through the wall again, the cat-woman is hot on her heels after just a second or two more of getting the door open the conventional way, racing after her with more speed than the average person could ever hope to do. Whether Sublime is just trying to run away normally or is about to break for another wall, Tigra is already leaping for her!

Sublime has posed:
The other woman woofs as you smack into her, the statue going rolling a bit further down the alley. "Hey, buy a girl a drink at least..." she says, quirming under you, then twists, trying to roll to put you under her. She's definitely got training...and she's suprisingly strong. Even heavy suddenly too.

Tigra has posed:
Eyes dart toward the statue as it's dropped, the impact from Tigra landing atop her having the intended effect. "Tell me..why you tried to..steal that!" she demands in the midst of grappling and rolling, using her quickness to try to get an arm twisted behind, or a knee against the back of her leg. The strength she deals with is closer to her own than expected, the added weight a surprise. "Hold..still!"

Sublime has posed:
Sublime arches as you get a good grip on her arm then...she's like air as she phases again, rolling -through- you as she comes back up in a crouch. "Seriously. If you want to bump and grind, there's a great club right down tthe street..." she says, her eyes flicking towards the statue. "...also, if I said it belongs in a museum, would you let me run off with it? Please?" She kitten eyes at you, then dives for the statue!

Tigra has posed:
Tigra's balance is thrown off by the phase that leads to Sublime freeing herself. That's going to be difficult to deal with in a prolonged tussle. "Maybe later. Right now, you have some explaining to do." She utilizes her quickness again in darting forward to make a grab for the statue at the same time, while saying, "If it belongs in a museum, why are you sneaking into the place to steal it?" It'd be very easy for her to drop a little knowledge right about now, if the claim is true.

Sublime has posed:
Your hands both land on the statue at the same time, ending in a tug of war as Sublime grrrs. "Look, I'm really not a monologing sort of girl, you seem like you've got places to be and it really needs to get to where it can be something more useful than something to be made into some frat bro's new bong...leggo!" she says, says, grunting, then eyes you.

"...okay, you asked for this..." She shifts her hand up and attempts to ...well, boop certain exposed areas around the chest region, hoping it startles you enough that she can yank it loose!

Tigra has posed:
"You're really not helping me with the whole trust thing here, you know!" Tigra growls as they both pull at the statue, trying to get control over it. "And this is the only place I have to be right now!" However, as she's grappling with both the woman and the object, signs of fighting unfairly lead to her letting go abruptly to 'protect' herself. "Oh, you dirty bitch," she hisses. That seems to have angered her, and she swipes at Sublime with the claws on one hand, a clear way of escalating this.

Sublime has posed:
Sublime briefly celebrates her victory of reclaiming the statue, then lets out a faint yelp as the claws slides through the shoulder of her top, drawing a bit of blood...but this time, instead of being ghostly, her flesh feels...dense. What should have left some really nasty slashes leaves shallow cuts...painful but not nearly as deep as she backs up, the shoulder of her top sliced cleanly open. . "See, now you're just taking this personally..." she says, her eyes narrowing. "It's not like I tried to steal your top or something..."

Tigra has posed:
Ignoring the efforts to taunt her, Tigra remains focused. "One more chance. Tell me why you snuck in to steal that." This is about the time she realizes the claws didn't do nearly as much damage as they normally would have. This person has some sort of thing going on that appears to leave her more difficult to wound, among other things. The tail lashes behind her, a sign of her growing aggression. "If you think I'm just going to let you run off without explaining yourself, you're crazy." She's advancing again. Could do anything, really. Another slash? A pounce? A grab for the statue?

Sublime has posed:
Thus far, the other woman seems more interested in avoiding the fight than fighting back...but as you advance she slips into what is definitely a fighting stance, wary. "...because the original owner wanted it back after his stupid kid sold it for drugs." she says finally. "There. Happy? It's not even stealing, it's recovering and returning..."

Tigra has posed:
"Do you have proof of this? Why not just go in when the place is open and talk to someone, if that's the case? They still paid for it." Tigra attempts to use logic the way she sees it. The idea of just going in to take it back doesn't seem to jive with this, and neither does another thing. "Were you lying when you said it belongs in a museum?" She's giving the woman another chance now that she's talking, which keeps her from attacking again. She, of course, remains ready to spring or swipe.

Sublime has posed:
The other woman rolls her eyes. "Well, it's a private museum, and no, they dont' have any proof it belonged to them at this point. Otherwise they wouldn't be hiring me to get it back, would they?" she says, reasonably. "They got insurance, anyway, they'll get their money back,a nd no one likes insurance companies anyway."

Tigra has posed:
Tigra has not yet made a move for the statue again just yet. There's a healthy dose of skepticism in her demeanor, but now she's attempting to read any subtle changes in Sublime to see if she's being truthful or not. She could also just be very good at faking it. "That all sounds very convenient," she pries, while taking her read of her. "What makes it so special?"

Sublime has posed:
"Don't know, don't care." Sublime says. "Not my job to care. Just to get it from point A to point B without too much trouble on the way." She doesn't seem to be lying, or at least there's nothing in her body posture to suggest it. "Seriously, don't you have, like some big guy in a weird helmet or something to stop, something a leeetle more important than little ole me?"

She frowns, obviously watching you to see if you're going to back down. This soooo wasn't in the job description.

Tigra has posed:
Tigra makes a face at all of this. How important is a seemingly random statue? Important enough for the two of them to be in this situation because of how it all started. "I saw you walking through walls to sneak into a place that was closed, and you put a rag over the guy's face in there. What did you think I was going to do when I saw that?"

In the end, however, she hisses under her breath, a clear sign she isn't happy with this, but she motions toward the woman. "Fine. Go. Get out of here, but I /will/ follow up on this and find out who sold it to them. If it ends up you were lying, you'll see me again."

Sublime has posed:
The other woman grins a little bit, taking a step back as she falls out of the stance. "...oh, if I'm off the clock, you're more than welcome to look me up.' she says casually, giving you a once over again as she takes a step, then another step. "Sorry for the boop though. Maybe I'll see yo around then..." she says, turning and waving over her shoulder as she jogs through the nearest wall, disappearing again into the maze of alleys and buildings.
