Synopsis: Kara goes to the Youth Centre and meets Tommy Oliver
Cast of Characters: Supergirl, Green Ranger

Supergirl has posed:
Kara has only a handful of people she would call friends. During the course of the summer, they have kept in touch with texting, phone calls and some visits. She has spent far more time as her alter ego, helping fight the good fight. School had just started back up and she found herself with a conundrum. Her friends had suggested coming to the Angel Grove Youth Center, which is supposed to be a great place to spend afternoons with all sorts of events they host from martial arts training to gymnastics. Only, her friends cancelled after she was already there waiting in the parking lot.

For a moment she stands there, hands tucked in the pockets of her jeans, wondering if she should call for a ride home or just fly there. She glances over her shoulder at the building, watching smiling teens entering and exiting the facility.

Taking a deep breath, she adjusts her glasses and wanders inside only to pause just in the door and look around, obviously a newcomer by the way she is taking in everything.

Green Ranger has posed:
Tommy had been on his way to the Youth Centre. He was wearing a green muscle shirt, green bandana, and black tracksuit pants. His socks were black, but his shoes were British racing green, just a little darker than the rest of the green he wore. It must be his favourite colour, or he really likes to be coordinated.

He saw the girl in the parking lot, just sort of hanging about, checking her phone, doing the kinds of things you do when you get stood up. He wasn't really trying to stare, but she was in his line of sight towards the Youth Centre entrance, so as he approached, he saw her, and saw her, and saw her.

He felt bad, reading the signs, so when he finally did catch up to her, he made a point of approaching her, offering a hand, "hi, I'm Tommy, are you new here? There's a great group of people who like to hang out after school."

Supergirl has posed:
Hearing the voice, Kara turns quickly to see the young man who just spoke. She looks at the hand a moment then remembers and takes it in her own, being sure to use human-girl level strength although it's a firm grip. Not one of those wimpy weak wrists things. "Kara. Yeah, I've never been here. My friends suggested it but then they canceled. I was already here so..." She let's that hang in the air since it's pretty obvious the so meant she had chosen to come inside anyway. "They said it's a great place. Lots of activities that go on. I've only been in town for about a year so I'm still feeling things out." She gives him a friendly smile. "Do you come here often?"

Green Ranger has posed:
Tommy could read the body language and between the lines. He knew what happened to her. He was sad about it, but hid it well. He smiled to her, presenting a warm, friendly demeanour, "oh yeah, just about every other day. There's weights, gymnastics, martial arts, video games, juice, fruit, nachos, all kinds of things, and plenty of people our age. Do you play any sports?"

Supergirl has posed:
That gets a negative shake of the head. "No, but I am thinking of trying out for the cheerleading squad. There was notice on the bulletin board at school Try-outs are next week." Kara nibbles her bottom lip a moment as she looks down toward the floor before flicking her gaze back up. "I just don't really know gymnastics but I understand you don't have to. I am a fast learner though," she adds quickly, brightening visibly at the thought. "So I'm hoping that I can pick up what I might need."

Green Ranger has posed:
"Cheerleading squad," he repeats with a grin, "my...," and then he catches himself before he modifies the thought mid stream, "a friend of mine is on the Angel Grove Cheerleading squad. She seems to love the challenge, the friends she's made, and cheering on the school teams. I bet you'd make a great one. I... know absolutely nothing about what makes a good cheerleader, but if I can help, I will."

Supergirl has posed:
"I know it is 'a sport involving the performance of organized cheering, chanting, and dancing in support of a sports team at games.' They are supposed to exhibit 'spirit' in their enthusiasm." It sounds like she's quoting a dictionary. Which she is. She had to learn what it was somehow. Although it was actually that she googled but same diff. "I feel I meet those qualifications."

She glances over toward the bar and catches her lip in her teeth again, worrying it a moment. He is being very nice but she's still a little nervous. She peeks a him sidelong. "Did you say they have nachos here? I skipped lunch and I'm starving."

Green Ranger has posed:
He chuckled a little at how precise she was. She seemed a lot like a friend of his, in fact; maybe he'd try and set them up sometime. "Oh, yeah, they're terrific. And they'll do them anyway you like them. I like mine with lots of cheese, like, seven types of cheese, beef, sour cream, but no onions." He gestured towards the restaurant part of the Youth Centre, "Come on, my treat?"

Supergirl has posed:
'Oh no!" Kara protests although she is walking toward the bar and finding an open seat there. "I will pay for my own but I thank you for the generous offer. It wouldn't be right for you to buy me something." In her mind, someone buying her food equals date. Too many movies in her learning process. Once she is on the stool, she discovers it moves. She spins to the right then the left. Twice. Then she pushes off from the bar and sets herself spinning in a slow circle, giggling as she does so. When she starts to slow, she spins again, like a little girl discovering the novelty for the first time.

Green Ranger has posed:
Tommy wouldn't object to a date with Kara, even if he just met her, but he was just trying to be nice. There were no ulterior motives. He was paying it forward. He followed her, taking a seat beside her, though as he watches her spin like that, he gives her a curious glance. She seemed very much like a kid trying out a new toy for the very first time. Part of him wondered if that might be why her friends bailed on her? But he gave her the benefit of the doubt. She seemed like fun. Pulled out the menu, he smiled, "Hey Ernie, we'll have a plate of Nachos, hold the onion, jalapanos, and olives, but extra cheese, beef, and sour cream. I'd also like a strawberry milkshake, and for Kara..." he gestured to her, hoping she'd add whatever she wanted to drink.

Supergirl has posed:
"Oh, a strawberry milkshake sounds wonderful!" Kara says as she catches the edge of the bar to stop her mid spin. This ends up giving her the sensation fo her brain being sucked out her ear. Which should be uncomfortable but was oddly fun instead. "No, wait! A chocolate milk shake! Yes." She gives them both one of her brightest smiles. "I like chocolate." As though that was a newsflash she should share with the class. She is still rocking from left to right on the seat, tucking her feet in on the cross bar near the bottom and looking around at the room again. There is some sort of stepping class going on at the moment in the middle of the room. There are other groups doing a variety of things. Some of the tables in the in Bar area are filled with people chatting. All-in-all, it seems a very pleasant place to spend time. "Thank you for being nice to me," she says suddenly in a soft voice.

Green Ranger has posed:
"Hey, we'll never make any new friends unless we're nice to each other." He didn't like how sad she could be at times. But he was so laid back and happy, truly content. It was as if nothing really bad ever happened to him. Or he really believed that you can overcome any obstacle with a positive mental attitude. "So, a chocolate shake, thanks Ernie," he finished to the bartender, who seemed to know Tommy. Ernie said, "that'll be right up Tommy, and who's your friend?" Tommy blushed, "where are my manners. Ernie, this is Kara, and Kara, this is Ernie."

Supergirl has posed:
"It is nice to meet you, Ernie," Kara says as she stops her idle movements from side to side long enough to offer a handshake to the bemused man. He accepts, sliding his hand into hers. She makes sure to do that firm normal handshake then releases as Ernie goes to get their orders. Her absent twisting starts again as she looks at the menu, reading off the various offerings the place has. Some are familiar. Others are confusing. Like Buffalo Wings. "Buffalos don't have wings," she says out of the blue, a soft mutter under her breath that is nonetheless able to be heard.

Green Ranger has posed:
Tommy hears her say that about the Buffalo Wings, and remarks, "I think they're a chicken wing recipe that was invented in Buffalo. Though, I heard French Toast wasn't actually invented in France, so go figure." He liked her. She was fun, quirky, and kept him on his toes, despite not having known her for longer than well, they had actually just met after school. "So, I haven't seen you around Angel Grove High School. Is that where you go, or do you go somewhere else?"

Supergirl has posed:
"Angel Grove Academy," Kara says. It's one of the private schools in town. Not one of the best but not the worst either. "My parents were worried I wouldn't adapt well in a public school. I have some personality quirks." As though he hasn't already noticed them. She's still doing that little twisty turn thing. "So they thought it best to stick to a private one for the time being. Probably for the best. Smaller classes and stuff. I'm good at school though. I catch on --wait, I already said that earlier." She quirks a grin and shrugs even as Ernie arrives with the milkshakes and nachos. "Oh thank you!"

The milkshake is her priority. She puts the straw in and takes a big draw through the straw followed by a second and third. Only to wince, one eye closing and face screwing up. "Ow! Oh Ow!" Kryptonians are apparently not immune to brain freeze.

Green Ranger has posed:
"Oh, uh," Tommy's not sure what to say to that. He understands and can see why it might be, given what he's already seen. "Well, yeah, it's nice to meet you." And then their food arrives, and the drinks. Tommy immediately licks his lips at the sight of the nachos, which look especially good today. "Yeah, thanks Ernie, you're the greatest." He takes his strawberry milkshake, and takes a sip of it, having to change the pressure in his mouth so that it is pushed up the straw. That scientific friend of his taught him that he doesn't actually suck it. But either way, it tastes great. "Hey, careful there or else you'll get a brain freeze. You gotta pace yourself Kara."

Supergirl has posed:
Holding her face with one hand, Kara peers at him with the other one. "Brain freeze? Is that what I did?" It certainly feels like it. It's like her head has seized up and is throbbing all at once. Then it passea and she slowly uncovers her eye, which is still closed. So far so good. A moment later she opens that eye. A few blinks then she is smiling again. "So sip it. Don't drink it fast like a soda. Got it!"

Her approach to the straw is slow, as though afraid it's going to attack. She tucks the bit of plastic between her lips and carefully draws up the tiniest bit of shake then releases. Safe enough. Another bigger sip. Still no brain freeze. She takes a single normal draw and then sits back, smiling happily.

Green Ranger has posed:
Beautiful, athletic, potential cheerleader, a quick learned, and cute as a button, if Tommy didn't already have designs on another cheerleader, he'd consider asking Kara out. She had that bubbly, infectious type of personality, that he just wanted to be around. "Yeah, slow and steady wins the race, as the saying goes." He sips his own, faster than her, but not fast enough, or in large enough quantities, to give himself a brain freeze. "Hmm, so good. I love the Youth Centre's milkshakes."

Supergirl has posed:
"This is excellent," Kara agrees. Today hasn't been a complete waste after all. She has a new friend, she thinks, and she knows where to get the best milkshake she's ever had. Not that she has a lot of basis for comparison. The ones she had from fast food joints in the past don't compare to the thick shake in front of her. They never gave her brain freeze either.

Now that she is able to drink without hurting herself, her eyes go to the nachos and widen slightly. "That looks so good." She reaches out and scoops up a chip, making sure it is fully loaded with all the fixings. As she pulls it away, the cheese stretches out for a moment before the strings give. She takes a big bite and her eyes roll up in her head. "Soooguut," she mumbles around the mouthful.

Green Ranger has posed:
Tommy enjoys the nacho vicariously, watching her reaction. It's nice to see someone who's so full of life, so exuberant, so into trying new things. And then he has a chip of his own, but for him, it's just another nacho. For her, it's a life altering experience. He wishes he could enjoy it the way she does. And he is very glad to have met her. In fact, he decides, "just so I don't forget," he reaches for a napkin, and finds a pen in a little container near the bar, and he writes down his phone number, name, and a few social media links, and offers them to Kara. "I always forget to exchange info when I meet someone knew."

Supergirl has posed:
Balancing the nacho in one hand, she tilts her head and shifts sideways a little to look at the napkin. As he slides it the rest of the way over to her, she resumes her earlier position. "You're cute," Kara says, not referring to his appearance. Okay, well, he is actually cute physically too. "Here." She pulls out her phone from her back pocket. "Just put your number in for me." She puts in the code to unlock it and then gives him full access to her telephone. Thankfully it doesn't have anything incriminating if he peeked. Not that she seems to care, she's distracted by the cheesy goodness that is the nachos.

Green Ranger has posed:
Tommy blushes at being called cute, but when given the phone, he put in his information, and added himself as a friend, follower, or whatever social media services that they were mutually signed up for. Seeing that she had photos set to each number, he then took a quick selfie with her camera, setting it as the photo with her. He smiled for the photo, trying not to look too cheesy, but he was hoping he'd come out looking cool. "You're uh, very pretty too, Kara." He was on dangerous ground here.

Supergirl has posed:
The napkin with his information is picked up and stuffed into the pocket of her jeans. She's pretty rough on cellphones so there is no telling if that one will last a week. Not from anything she does to them. She just sometimes forgets she has it with her and a fall from great heights will destroy one in a second. It's happened. Twice.

"Thank you, Tommy," she says with another of those smiles as she takes a sip of milkshake to wash down the nacho. She does lick her fingers before she wipes them on a napkin. No use wasting the yumminess by wiping them first! Taking the phone back, she pushes the dial button. "There. That's my number so you have it."

Green Ranger has posed:
Tommy's phone begins to vibrate, and he reaches into his pocket, answering it, and then ending the conversation. He reaches for its camera function, "May I, for the reference?" If she'll let him, he's going to take a picture of her, and save it with her phone number so that when she calls, he'll see that picture, of her smiling brightly, looking as energetic as ever. With that finished, they can get back to enjoying the nachos, milkshakes, and getting to know one another. But the question remains, what would Kimberly think?
