Vorpal (87) has posed:
MADRIPOOR: A Month Ago.

The city of Madripoor was once a haven for pirates, a tradition that is somewhat continued today with its lawlessness and the liberal attitude towards smuggling and black market artifacts. Those artifacts always end up in the center of the city, where opulent skyscrapers glitter in luxury under the mid-day sun, casting shadow over the surrounding squalor.

It is in the basement of one of those buildings that a clandestine meeting was arranged a few hours ago between Odessa Marcos and one of Singapore's most prolific (and infamous) smugglers.

"The price is well worth it," the man said to the rather elegant woman. He is impeccably dressed and rather slender and delicate of build, the total opposite of what the imagination conjures at the word 'smuggler.'

"It is, if this is actually the throne. You did promise me I would get to evaluate it before"

Before she could say another word, the man nodded to the quiet men waiting at one end of the room, and the large crate that sits in the center was opened quietly and efficiently. With an almost reverential tone, the man extended a hand in a gesture: "The throne of Sri Maharaja Sang Utama Parameswara Batara Sri Tri Buana."

It was breath-taking. Carved, they said, from the trunk of a large tree- its designs flowed smoothly from polished and artificial to gnarled and organic, its legs resembling the entwined tendrils of vegetable life.

"Amazing" Odessa walked towards the throne breathlessly. Some legends had it that the founder of the Kingdom of Singapura had made a pact with a nature spirit to exert its influence over the envoy of the Chinese emperor so that he may become the ruler of Singapore. It worked- and some legends say that it was the Srivijayan prince's ambition that caused him to imprison the spirit into the wood of the throne itself in order to count with its favor forever.

This, the legends say, is why he died at the age of forty. The throne was lost to posterity, believed to be cursed "It is beautiful. Very well. Have it sent to me via the proper channels."

The smuggler nodded and proceeded to lead her out of the room. While they were both riding the lift, he said quietly to her:

"You must promise me it is only for display. To sit on it... It is bad luck they say"

She gave him that condescending smile that certain Universitarians have reserved for the rest of the world that did not attend their hallowed halls. "Very well. It is a promise."

STATEN ISLAND, Twenty Minutes Ago:

The call went out to all major available heroes, because-against all probabilities- Staten Island was being devoured by vegetation. Massive branches, tendrils, ivy, they cracked pavement and squeezed concrete and glass. At first the involvement of Poison Ivy was suspected but this was far grander in scope than anything the Eco-terrorist had done before. " caution is advised, but the threat must be nullified as soon as possible. Repeat."

nd the call went out- and there were some who answered

Stargirl has posed:
Courtney woke from a sleep like the dead as an emergency alert blares on the TV she didn't turn off the night before. "Wha'?" and she rubbed the sleep from her eyes. Fighting Starros in Pennsvylvania and throwing a Juggernaut Special wore on her. "Why now?" She rose and flipped the TV off, collecting her Cosmic Staff where is leaned nearby. The blonde had fallen asleep in her costume, so no need to dress.

Quickly she was over Staten Island, straining her eyes looking over the area. "There must be a central focus, where all this is coming from, right?" she asks herself. "If you were a demon kudzu, where would your roots be, Courtney? Hmm."

Yokai (Sakara) has posed:
It's been a long night, and Roark Sakura has spent far too much of it in Budget Hell, making sure that a certain low-quality necromancer has to stay there for at least a month before they let him out again. Budget Hell is slightly more permeable to its inmates than Arkham Asylum, but the kind of people who get into Budget Evil are much less likely to do real harm, so it's probably OK.

So Roark (aka Rory, aka Yokai to the newspapers) is returning to the mortal world. A doorway opens in the ground, or rather, opens and gets stuck as there is a large vine that it wedges against. The purple oni shoves hard, and there's swearing in several languages, but eventually an opening large enough for him to squeeze through is made, and he pulls himself out onto 'mortal ground' and looks around, a bit bemused.

"Why am I suddenly on Pandora?" he asks, unconsciously shapeshifting some contrasting tiger-stripes onto his body, though not enough to actually bring down the wrath of the lawyers should he be photographed. After all, a six-foot-seven-inch muscular tiger-patterned man with horns and a tail, wearing only a tiger-skin loin-cloth, is different enough to avoid legal complications, right?

Starfire has posed:
It would blare through all of the speakers at the Titans Tower, and soon enough, those Titans who were on point in the Tower itself. And Kori soon brings up her hand, tapping her communicator. "Titans! Do you see the news?! Staten Island is under attack by vegetables - if you can, please respond and go there! I um. Can fly anyone who needs to go!"

Closing off her end of the chatter, Starfire floats from one end of her room to the other, tugging on her boots as she goes, and snapping them tight.

"Titans! Go!" she calls, hearing the rest of the chatter as she goes.

Whether or not she had passengers, Starfire was shooting her way towards Staten Island herself, a green nimbus of light energy surrounding the Tamaranean. "Who is this 'Poison Ivy'? If there is poison in her name, this must be a most terrible person indeed," she says. Although whether or not someone answers her on the communicator is a mystery.

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana was about to leave her home for an event when the word came that something odd was happening at Staten Island, something that was suggested her assistance might be needed at. Her response time was quick, she arrived in the sky via the power of flight. Diana Prince landed atop the edge of a building and looked down at the unfolding situation across the region, her dark eyebrows furrowed as she started to take in the sights of it all and tried to consider her options in putting an end to this... horrible development.

Diana's eyes also moved to the arrival of more super powered people, which in these recent years was becoming a much more commonplace thing that she was both grateful for, and also nervous about as you never know how well trained a person with super abilities really is when you first meet them.

Vorpal (87) has posed:
"She's some total vegetable nut!" Vorpal says while being carried by Starfire- hey, he may be able to go anywhere he wants to at a thought, but FLY? He can't fly. He can't pass this up. "Doesn't sound like she's behind this, though. It's a pity Raven isn't here. She's the vegetarian, right? This could be considered going to the buffet..."

Not that Vorpal would ever say this while Raven was around. He LIKED having his soul where it was.

The come to a city that has gone wild. The buildings of the island are covered in thick greenery that sprouts out of the shattered windows. From a bird's-eye view, though, there does seem to be a central point from which this radiates out. The building, however, is so covered with greenery that it is hard to tell what building it was, unless you were familiar with the skyline before.

. It is as if a colossal tree were growing through the center of it and spreading out into the rest of the city.

"Holy..." Vorpal says, eyes wide open as he stares at the towering tree. "I guess Chia Pet really DOES work..."

Stargirl has posed:
"Oh. Maybe that's it?" Courtney asks herself, spying what does appear to be a central point. She stands on her staff, sky-surfing, and zooms in that direction. "At least there aren't any giant starfish today."

Troia has posed:
Donna Troy was in New York City working further on her planned photo book when she heard the alert come. She responded to Starfire, "Starfire, I'll be there shortly" calm and determined sounding. It did not take her long to return to her apartment to deposit her camera and equipment before flying toward the indicated site.

Arriving at the location she looked at the scene, blinking as if she hadn't quite imagined it could be as wide spread already (or at all!) as it turned out to be. "... Gaia..." she exclaimed as she hovered in her familiar black starfield covered uniform. Glancing to the others, she was reassured, then she saw her sister and was further relieved. Drifting closer to Diana she offered a tense smile. "This is something different than normal at least? I hope you brought your pruning sheers?"

Vorpal (87) has posed:
"Hey! It's more Titans, awesome!" the Cheshire cat grins as he and Starfire approach Donna. "It looks like we might need to prune some of this before we can strike at... the root of the problem." And a wince was felt all across the world. "Maybe Starry's blasty beams of blast?..." he trails off and points to the distance. "There's someone surfing on a stick there, maybe we should-"

And then Donna greet someone who must have come near in the air while he was distracted. He turns his head and his eyes go wide. "Wawa." To his credit, he doesn't geek out, but he does shut up right then and there for a second or two. "I mean. It's Womer Wodan. Wodder Wo- It's..." he gestures. He never thought he would actually get to *meet* her. But now that he has, he's not only not entirely sure what to say, but he gets some truly -weird- vibes from that lasso. Why is that?

His reverie is interrupted, however, by screams. The roots and branches are growing again, and they are -moving-. People have been running, evacuating, but Rory and those up in the sky with keen eyesight might see that, as the plants expand, they leap upon the running pedestrians and encase them in what looks to be some sort of vegetable pods, which remain attached to the branches as they move.

"Ohmygod- we've got to do something!"

Yokai (Sakara) has posed:
There are people here somewhere. Rory can sense them with that peculiar monster-sense that lets him detect (cough potential prey cough) living things. He doesn't HEAR them though. Which shouldn't be a surprise really; he's in a graveyard, overgrown though it might be. Still, if he's going to find out what's going on here then he should head for ... he turns around and sees a freaking HUMONGOUS tree ... //that// thing over there.

The Oni becomes intangible, just as one of the vines tries to wrap itself around him, and then he's making like a ninja, or possibly a Pandoran, since he's running at highway speeds along the vines and rooftops toward the overgrown giant roots and shoots that feed into trunk that supports the big green crown. Honestly it reminds him of the troll-trees back home, except that the troll-trees aren't ENGULFING the humans... well, not so blatantly anyway.

Along the way, he spots a collection of Heroes... he can tell because they have that faintly shiny glow that says Hero and the smell of good karma. Especially the truly gorgeous woman with the lasso and the possible mini-me at her side. So he angles his path and leaps, floating down past Vorpal and Starfire like a milk-thistle seed.

"Let me see what it's doing to them first!" he says, and then drops down next to one of the engulfed humans. He phases his head through it, and pulls back out coughing and sneezing, with wet hair.

"They're not dead, just suspended, but I think it's feeding on their ki. We need to stop it at its heart, just yanking them out could leave them depleted."

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana had a lot going through her mind so she wasn't in a place to greet people who came near to her, but she did look over and register some of the faces of the new arrivals, some of them she knew better than others... Donna for instance. She nodded to her mirror-twin sister. "I did." She replied to her as well, while her hand went up behind her back and she pulled her sword from its sheath.

Diana looked then to Vorpal and then to Rory after hearing his summation of what was happening.

Diana's gleaming blade pointed foward. "There." She said. "Its coming from that center-point. We need to assault it with everything that we have got... stop the spreading."

And this is precisely what Wonder Woman would do, lunging forward at tremendous speed to seek out the cause of this blight at its core.

Starfire has posed:
Starfire lets her eyes track along the sights of the place. The way the running humans well... ran, and the way the plant in the centre lashes out to capture them. "We have to save these people!" says Starfire. And so she was most interested in what Rory had to say then, her bright green eyes settling upon Rory proper.

A nod of her head, and Star swoops lower, looking for an empty spot to deposit her Vorpal passenger. All the while... Starfire's hands and eyes begin to glow again, with an angry light now.

"Donna, you should..." Kori turns midair, still floating - to see. "The Most Wonderful of Women? Why are you here?" she asks, sounding legitimately surprised. Regardless, Starfire sees a length of plant lashing out towards one of the fleeing humans. Eyes glow brighter, and her eyebeams last out to stop the plant before it can grasp a fleeing person.

"To the center!" Starfire calls, sounding uncharacteristically serious.

Troia has posed:
Donna Troy nods to Starfire as she arrives and smiles "Starfire." She nods to Diana, "She was in the area too." She turns quickly as Diana draws her blade and begins to move with the tactical decisiveness of any Amazon, of the best of their warriors. Donna isn't far behind. Her own lasso at her hip, but across her back she bears her own blade and shield though its symbol is only partially that of Diana's. Her blade glints in the sunlight as she follows Diana without question.

Stargirl has posed:
"Whew." Stargirl sighs in relief. "The cavalry's here." For her part, she jets down closer to the central tree and looks things over. "Hmm." and she considers. She directs an energy blast at the thing, more of an experiment than anything. "Now, what will that do?" and she braces for what she expects will be a return attack.

Vorpal (87) has posed:
"Hey, it's Rory!" the cat says, waving towards the Oni. He frowns at his admonitions, however. "So it all goes to the center, then... but still, we should try to push back and keep it from expanding further. The way I see it, we should let the heavy hitters go for the center and -"

Courtney's attack gets an immediate reaction- the blast severs one of the smaller branches, causing a veritable swarm of slender vegetable tendrils to shoot out towards her in an attempt to grapple her.

"-okay, the rest of us can just say no to tentacles, look out!"

Vorpal knows Stargirl is fast, but he sees no reason not to help a fellow super: he opens a Rabbit Hole in the path of the tentacles, with the exit intersecting the same body of tentacles, causing a tangle-up. He closes the Rabbit Hole, causing the tendrils to be sliced off.

"AHA!"

But then, another set of tendrils emerge from the wounded section, aimed at Vorpal.

"Ohcrap!"

He begins to dodge and leap, trying to stay away from the reach of the tentacles.

Rory and Stargirl may notice something, though: the wounded section hasn't healed itself. In fact, with each set of tentacles it has produced, the people-pods on its section of the branch have grown smaller. With Starfire's bolt, and yet another set of tentacles emerging from the newly-damaged section, a woman is actually able to punch out of one and run away.

Meanwhile, as the heroines fly towards the center, they will notice that the section that is encasing the building is not as verdant as the branches... it is brown, and more bark-like. As they approach the perimeter, several root-like appendages uproot themselves from the ground and swipe at each one, but as they begin to visit violence upon them, they may notice that this particular, tougher section of the tree does not heal as fast as the younger, newer and greener sections.

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana charged ahead with sword and shield at the ready. When tentacles came flying at her she'd slash and bash her past them making her way forward toward that less-attractively-green center tree. "There!" Diana shouted to whomever was still with her at this point, she thrust her sword in the direction of the browning tree. "The foul magic is coming from there!" She wasn't entirely sure of that, to be honest, but it was athe safest bet. "Set fire to it, if you can!" Diana asked the others while she tended to the threat of the tentacles leaping and lunging around, severing them with fierce swipes and deadly slashes!

Troia has posed:
Donna Troy was following Diana and, likewise, began to slash at the vines, branches and.. tentacles that are trying to attack her also. Hacking her way free and having lost count of the times she had done so she nods, "Star! Anyone with energy or fire, please focus on the core of this thing!" she radios across the Titan's comms as she severs a vine coiling around her right ankle and then presses deeper toward that old bark, daring to slash into it, trying to chop her way through to the wood underneath.

Yokai (Sakara) has posed:
Drafted into protection detail, hmm? The Yokai is happy to fight with tentacle monster plants. It's like Sunday Family Time back home, honestly. Though these aren't going to be the fun-time tentacles. Those don't actually exist outside the fevered imagination of a disturbingly large number of humans. But as that number grows larger, they become more and more likely, and he doesn't want to think about that right now because PLANT ATTAACK!

The purple Oni leaps out of the way of a shooting root ... rooting shoot? ... in any case, he avoids it and phases just before the next one punches through where he was dodging. A third shoot attempts to wrap him and he slashes it with his claws. It falls in four pieces. This is why Oni don't use swords, honestly. They have claws. (They do use swords, but Rory doesn't have one with him.)

Stargirl has posed:
Courtney doesn't have to dodge, she has a forcefield. So, she stays in place while the tendrils try to wrap around her. "Hey! Hands off, Bulbasaur!" and her golden aura blazes, cosmic energy likely to vaporise the grasping tentacles. She notices the Wonder Women slashing and chopping the greenery into salad and she watches them in awe from her vantage point. "Cooool."

Starfire has posed:
Following along with Diana, Starfire lets her eyes track along the browning tree. "Magic?!"

That sounded like something Raven would be most interested in. But regardless, the Tamaranean - keeping flight and wary of counter tentacles - in fact, some of the living plants do reach out for the skyborne hero. Doing a barrel roll, she blasts forward, her hands held out in front of her as she fires a starbolt down at the browning center of the glade.

Vorpal (87) has posed:
As Diana and Donna slash, and Kori burns, there is a remarkable transformation in the tree's behavior. The tendrils that were focused on the trio doing salvage work start moving towards the center.

"Crap! No! Stargirl, we need you- make with the pew pew!" Vorpal shouts, "Can you blast a wide swath across the branches? We need them focused here to give them a cha-ACK!"

The Cheshire cat falls, face-first on the ground as one of the tendrils manages to snag him by the ankle and bring him down. He pushes himself off the floor, but by that point half of his leg is already wrapped in green. "Crap crap crap CRAP!" he shouts, bringing his claws out to bear, but his are regular claws, not Oni claws, and soon he is being enveloped. Rory, on the other hand, proves that his claws have very little issue with the branches, and Courtney's force field manages to repel the tendrils, since they can't get a grip.

Meanwhile, the tree-three-pronged attack is causing the surface of the trunk to crack visibly under Starfire's starbolts. The roots are made quick work of by the Amazons, who can then proceed to attack the trunk.

Eventually the walls of the trunk give in to show a tunnel that reches deep into the building. Should the Amazons and the Tamaranean choose to go inside, they will find a large room that stretches into a high vaulted ceiling, covered in greenery.

On a dais, at the highest part of the room where there used to be an ornamental fountain, there is now a figure draped in green, sitting on a throne. There is a potent green glow about it.

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana's goal was to keep the tentacles off of herself, Donna AND Starfire... even if she knew Donna was capable of protecting herself, it was a big sister worried about her sibling! So slashes, hacks and shield-deflecting *thuds* echoe'd out from where Wonder Woman fought to protect those around her and let Starfire torch the wretched vegetation!

Door.

Diana's blue eyes landed upon the entrance and she motioned to her companions. "This way!" She shouted to whomever wished to back her up on this and with a running jump/lunge Diana shot right inside the opening of said doorway, shield up and sword held up above it, ready to thrust the sword ahead of her for a killing blow should anything try to rush her...

And then she stopped, and saw the throne and figure seated upon it.

"This is your doing." Diana said over her ornate shield. "End this now, or I will be forced to end you."

Yokai (Sakara) has posed:
Rory hears Starfire's question about Magic and laughs to himself, which of course means he's not entirely focused as the Tree has been throwing more and more tentacles at him. Two of them manage to grab his left foot, and one grabs and wraps his tail. He's !yoink!'d down to the main body and it tries to wrap him into a pod. And enough is too much. He begins hyperventilating and his breath turns a sort of sickly, glowing green. The plant withers where his breath touches it, falling back away from his body.

"I'm the better monster," he says in something similar to Japanese, and begins running on all fours up the side of the plant to a place where a red-striped paw is most of what's visible from an incipient pod. This thing is faster than kudzu. Rory slashes the tentacle parts where they connect, unwrapping his sometime teammate, and then says, "get us to the middle of this tree!"

Stargirl has posed:
Stargirl happily blasts tendrils and branches here and there. Keeping the bad guys occupied is her specialty, after all. *woosh* *zap* "Come on! Is this all you got? At lease evolve into Ivysaur or _something_!"

Troia has posed:
Donna Troy watches as the trunk is successfully blown and chopped open and severed from much of its root system. But now.. she nods to Diana. A door way. She moves to enter instinctively but her sister reaches the entrance first so she follows after pausing to wait for Starfire should she also go inside to try and locate the source of this chaos. A glowing figure on a throne? Huh. "That was unexpected.." And yet Diana's protective instincts and demand? Totally expected!

Starfire has posed:
Ducking her head a bit, and trust me on this one - Starfire did not want those tentacles anywhere near her!

Twisting around, starbolts are flung, eyelasers are fired, and she frowns deeply, trying to keep the space behind Diana and Donna clear most of all. To prevent surprise grabbings, after all.

Star herself was moving with a coordination that a teen probably should not have - but she was raised a warrior princess, after all. And so as it was, they enter the door, and Starfire twists, her features /fierce/ as she lifts her hands high. A pause.

"Excuse us - but are you Poison Ivy?" she asks.

Vorpal (87) has posed:
The fight outside is a bloody one- okay, it's a SAPPY one. When Rory rescues Vorpal from becoming a pea in a pod, he doesn't leave the Cheshire cat time to respond much.

"The center? But-" More tentacles head their way. The cast needn't be told twice, "Alright, alright! STARGIRL! OVER HERE!"

The cat shouts and opens the Rabbit Hole, thinking very hard upon the center of the tree, and he pushes Rory through.

And that's why there is suddenly a plummeting Vorpal, accompanied by Rory. Without a line of sight, the Rabbit Hole opened up several feet above ground.

Fortunately, the ornamental fountain is still full of water, so it cushions Vorpal's fall. "gphethtet!" he sputters, splashing in the water.

A few feet away, our heroines are dealing with the creature on the throne.

om the throne sprouts the enormous Yggdrasil-like monstrosity that is taking over the city, and sitting at its root is a creature that is no longer Odessa. As the plants retreat from her, it is clear that she is regal and otherworldly, and fully grounded into the telluric reality of earth itself. She gives Starfire's question a look that one reserves for after tasting milk, only to found out it had gone bad.

"Intruders, do not meddle with my revenge. You are insignificant insects in the timespan of this earth."

She directs an imperious glance towards the three heroines, but Wonder Woman in particular. "My kingdom. My kingdom has been stolen from me, and I will retake it. I offer you the chance to aid me in this endeavor."

Yokai (Sakara) has posed:
The Oni looks around the room in horror. The magic here...

"The throne. It's the center of the magic. Kill it and it'll end this perverse magic!" Rory yells, then he's knocked back against the wall by what some people might call Holy Energy. He calls it "self-righteous pain in the tailbone" energy himself, but he's not really talking out loud since it has him pinned in place like a bug.

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana knew that she had Donna and Starfire with her, which was a reassuring feeling considering she wasn't quite familar with a foe of this nature... at least not of this scale. She'd fought plant monsters before, but none with the power to evelope a city and claim it as though it were their own.

"You will retake nothing." Diana replied to the Yggdrasil-like monster, a moment before she narrowed her eyes and lunged forward at the creature with the intent of impaling her sword right through its center where she would hope to hear its final death scream before ending such a malevolent creatures threat to their world!

Troia has posed:
Donna Troy watches, hearing Rory's warning and explanation. She is Diana's sister. She may be The Younger, that just means she has fewer laugh lines (Tee Hee!) but not that she has less ability. Okay she probably does have less. But she knows how Diana fights. How Amazons fight. The moment Diana attacks, Donna is in motion too, her sword closing in on that same location from a second angle to try and double the effectiveness. Just in case.

Starfire has posed:
And Starfire leads the charge, in her own special way - by beginning with a starbolt thrown at the sitting creature!

Already starting to float again, Starfire starts to fly around the inside diameter of the room, her lips pursing tightly as she seems to try to flank it, staying close to the inside walls of the tree.

Vorpal (87) has posed:
As the Amazons charge towards the creature, fully formed tentacles spring from the ground once more, to try and entangle Kori and the Amazons. The women are strong, though, so they can push through the tendrils and break them. When the swords strike the creature, something strange happens-

She explodes.

Thousands of tiny particles explore outwards, embedding themselves into the walls and the floor. And then, they start to grow.

Suddenly, a veritable army of dozens of creatures similar to the one they had just vanquished appears (some of the seeds are taking longer to root and bloom than others).

"Oh crap..." Vorpal stands up, pulling himself from the fountain. "The throne, Rory sa-" but then he, too, is flung against the wall. What's more, the touch of a holy power causes him to scream in apparent pain, and then hang limply from where he is being held up by an invisible force.

The tree-women rush towards Diana and Donna, while they extend their limbs, forming tentacles to try and snatch the flier out of the air.

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana was blown back by the unexpected explosion. She collided with a vine covered wall and then lunged forward again without hesitation, so as to stay away from any potential attacks from her blindside.

"Starfire." Diana said then, looking to the girl from another world. "Light it all up. As much as you can! Start with that Throne!" She ordered the girl with the impressive powerset.

When the tree women came forth, Diana would share a glance with her sister. "Try removing their heads." She told Donna calmly before leaping back into combative action, tending to slice her way through their enemies and uncover strikes at the tree women's throats.

Starfire has posed:
Royalty looks to royalty, Star sparing a moment to listen to Diana's command.

There were few people in the world Starfire would listen to so implicitly - and Diana was one of them. Of course, the Google was another, which was... problematic at times. Of course, the moment of distraction means that the tree limbs do entangle one of Starfire's arms, the Tamaranean taking just a moment to tear herself free with a fit of strength. "You will /not/ be grasping humans again, to put them into pods and consume them!" she informs the tree person.

Drawing her hands back, she doesn't quite starbolt - she starbeams - opening up her inner spirit and letting that wonderful solar energy just flood through - through her hands and palms to let her starflames lick at the throne.

Then she would turn this terrible ability of hers on the walls of the place. Burn it all down! Bwahahaha!

Wait - she knew she couldn't burn. Could Amazons burn?!

Yokai (Sakara) has posed:
Roarke Sakura is half-human and not old enough for his human half to be dead yet. That's what allows him to shapeshift from his Oni form to his Human form and thus break the hold of the "Holy" magic -- which is really simply anti-Demon magic, which he finds racist and annoying. He falls to the ground in the classic three-point landing. His human form has normal somewhat pale skin and long white hair suspiciously styled like an anime character (because it got him attention from the other cosplayers in college) and isn't wearing a tiger-skin loincloth, but rather, he's wearing normal street clothing. He has no horns, no tail, no claws, and only somewhat sharp teeth. But he's still quite strong and he manages to use that strenth to backhand away one of the incoming tree-women, then throw another as she reaches him, into the path of a third.

Oni magic is no longer available, well, he does have OTHER magic. He starts with a gesture that creates a circle of light and then patterns inside it with a simple glyph, an inverted triangle. This is one of the simplest glyphs for fire. It reproduces itself into six such symbols, and he changes the central glyph by sketching an infinity sign in the middle. Then he pulls a small lighter out of his pocket -- brandname not specified - and lights it, blowing the flame into the pattern.

A cylinder of intense fire shoots out at the throne. Rory is then tackled by two of the tree-women, who manage to get him off balance and begin punching. (The fire-beam remains in place for six seconds, because that's how long it takes them to start punching him in ways that make him lose his concentration.)

Stargirl has posed:
Meanwhile...

Outside the green vault, Stargirl is blasting vines and tendrils left and right. "Pew! Pew!" She seems to be having a ball mowing the proverbial lawn. "Take that! And that!" There's dodging going on, though she doesn't need to. Good times.

Troia has posed:
Donna Troy nods to Diana and glances to Starfire as she is given input from Diana. And then she falls in beside the Amazon Princess and begins slashing and shield bashing her way into the mass of Tree Women... things. Seeking to free them of their heads to hopefully end their attacks.

Vorpal (87) has posed:
Stargirl's bolts manage to sever several branches, which seem reluctant to reform now that the fight at the center of the tree seems to be drawing the tree's full attention.

Within? It is, of course, a disco inferno. The tree-creatures fall to Wonder Woman and Donna's attacks, but with each blow, more 'spores' are ejected.

Fortunately, Rory and Kori manage to light the throne on fire, which also causes the spores to combust in a moment.

There is a groaning that shakes the very foundations of the building, and slowly build up into a howling scream. ALl throughout the city, the branches and roots turn to ash almost immediately. The pods, too, are liberated and drop citizens onto the ground, intact since consuming them takes time.

Within, everything is a swirdl of ash and smoke until things settle down. The building becomes, once more, the Onessa corp's headquarters, and on the floor, near where the throne was, is Odessa herself.

A quick examination of her will see that she is alive, although in some sort of coma. Of the throne itself there is only a burned stump left, half-calcified and mostly destroyed.

The Cheshire cat groans and opens his eyes as he slides down to the ground.

"... aspirin..."

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana fought with her sister as the others lit the place up and she knew this wasn't working... the spores were just spreading. "We have to retreat." Diana said, "Find another wa--" And thats when the tables turned and the ash implosion/explosion occurred!

Diana's eyes closed as she felt the ash rain down across them all and fill the room with its clogging obstructing sensation....

When it started to settle, she lowered her sword and shield to her sides and her eyes re-opened. She first looked to her companions to make sure that all of them within her sight were alive and well... then she swept her eyes over to this Odessa woman on the floor.

Diana walked toward her unconscious body, looked from her to the ash mound where the throne had been. "Fools." She quietly said. A second later and her sword and shield were returned to her back, she knelt down beside Odessa to determina her health and well being. "Let us find medical aide for this one. She has much to answer to.."

Yokai (Sakara) has posed:
Rory is flat on his back on the floor, visibly but far too not-instantly healing from the cuts and bruises that were inflicted by wooden fists. Turning into his Oni form would make him heal faster, but it would also hurt more on the way. He wiggles one tooth, hoping it will firm up.

"Vorpal? This sucked," he says. He's not looking forward to the mess outside among the humans, nor to the probably larger number of monsters that are going to appear as a side-effect of this thing perturbing the noosphere. And then his stomach grumbles.

"Oh. Anyone hungry? I could go for a couple pizzas."

Troia has posed:
Donna Troy turns away from the flames as the throne ands pores burn up. She turns around and looks at the group as the confrontation is ended. She loosk to Diana with a nod of satisfation and pride then to Starfire with the same. She listens to Diana's decree over Odessa's guilt and fate and nods. She sheaths her blade and hangs her shield across her shoulders. She lets the others move in to take charge.

Starfire has posed:
Starfire, landing as the place burns around them all, draws near to Odessa. "Do you know her?" asks Starfire of all those involved. It wouldn't be good to leave her in a burning tree. Starfire moves to grasp Odessa by both of her wrists, moving to kinda float her out of the tree properly.

"Vorpal! Rory!" she calls as she floats by, Odessa dangling by her arms. "Yes, please - I will take a pizza. Mustard and pepperoni - with a little bit of barbeque sauce as well," she says, nodding her head to Donna properly.
