Demon's Kitten
Date of Scene: 14 August 2017
Location: Wayne Manor, Gotham
Synopsis: Damian gets a kitten of destruction.
Cast of Characters: Batgirl (Cain), Robin (Wayne)

Batgirl (Cain) has posed:
Cassandra was rarely seen in the Manor. Not because she's not invited, or welcome. She's just usually more comfortable in the Batcave. Today is a rare exception, however. Her and Damian, afterall, have much in common, but have rarely interacted. And she's been pressed by multiple factors to 'make connections', everyone stating she needed to be more - well, like everyone else.
So she'd showed up at the Mansion, even using the front door. She is carrying a mid-sized cardboard box in front of her, with both hands.
Dressed in a pair of simple, comfortable canvas tan pants, belted at the waits, canvas shoes, and a plain black top, Cassandra might -look- like a normal girl in her late teens. But, everyone in the mansion knows differently.

Robin (Wayne) has posed:
Damian hadn't had much interaction with Cassandra other than when they first met. Damian really didn't have much against her to be honest. If he was brutally honest he liked that she wasn't...like the others. Not all up in his business, just kinda there.

The boy had been in the parlor, watching the news as a particular report rang out. A string of robberies had been committed. The only thing linking them together was a turtle egg left at the scene. Of course, Damian had put together the clues Deadlights left for him. "Robin, you are less than human, die. " He groaned, clenching the remote in his fist so hard the thing broke to pieces. "How -dare- she? She got away one f&@$ing time and she thinks she is my superior?!" Cass would definitely know where the boy was, just follow the debris.

Batgirl (Cain) has posed:
Cassandra slowly makes her way to the parlor, still carrying the box. She pauses, there, to watch the youth. She wonders, in that moment, even as she reads both the anger -- and the competitive factor in him, and desire to prove himself that seems ever-present, what Bruce and/or Barbara have told him about her. It took her nearly an entire evening to tell it, for the first time.
She takes a few further steps into the room, her steps by simple natural practice, soundless. She was not just trained to walk silently, it's how, nearly, she learned to walk.
The pixie-hair-cut girl moves in front of Damian, and, silently, holds out the box to him. Her head tilts, expectantly, but as is her usual, she says nothing.

Robin (Wayne) has posed:
Damian hadn't really been told much about Cassandra. He figured that she just was like him and kept to herself.

Damian looked to the destroyed remote control and put his hand to his face. It was hard on him to keep himself in control and this was one of just a number of things he'd destroyed recently. He'd only felt a presence around himself, even if she was silent she moved the air around the room in a different way. It was one of the many thing he'd learned in the League. Once Cassandra came up to him he cantered his head too. "Hello Batgirl." He offered, dressed in a casual baseball tee shirt and jeans with sneakers. He tillers his head as well, pointing to himself asking if the box was for him.

Batgirl (Cain) has posed:
A firm nod follows, and she again gestures to the box, not greeting - at least verbally, Damian. The box, of course, along with her presence is more than enough. And there's then the head nod. Her name? Very hard for her to fully pronounce. Therefore, it's rarely left her lips, as she prefers the easier, single-syllable words if she has to speak at all, and if she can at all help it.
From inside the box? It sounds like something moves.

Of course, once opened? Inside, there is a blanket. And, in the blanket, there is a small kitten. A beautiful creature, a gorgeous calico cat with heavy orange and blacks, and only interspered white looks up at Damian, attentively, interested.

Robin (Wayne) has posed:
Damian takes the box in his hands, sitting down and opening it. He gasps in surprise, taking out the kitten from under its arms. "H-hey there." He says, looking at the cat, he gets a smile on his face, genuine and he giggles. She's probably the only one that has ever heard him laugh or giggle or chuckle.

Damian sets the kitten down and lets the kitten move around, wriggling his finger at it and letting it swipe at him playfully. The boy stands up, looking to Cass and inhaling sharply before giving her a hug. Even if he rather dislikes physical contact, he'd been trying to let himself feel more emotions that weren't...rage induced.

Batgirl (Cain) has posed:
It's not like Cassandra, probably, would, or could ever tell the full story. For one reason or another, she'd guessed the boy needed a friend, or someone, like she'd found Stephanie. And she had overheard other people talking about how much their pets were their best friend.
But she is hugged. By a boy. And, a boy she hardly knows at that. Awkward Cassandra Cain is awkward. She does not know what to do, at first. Only when she recalls -watching- other people 'hugging' does she remember, and simulates their moments, uncertain if she is doing it correctly or not. There are, afterall, so many -ways- she's seen people hugging. Cassandra goes for the 'hold lightly and awkwardly and let go as soon as possible' hug.
When the hug -is- broken, Cassandra reaches into her pocket, and pulls out a piece of paper. It reads 'Abbadon' on it. Not that Cass can read. And it is written, by all things, on sort of church pamphlet - one of those little 'hand-me-outers' that people leave for waitstaff, or in restrooms in the stall as ways to spread the word of God. This one has, in fact, a picture on a demon on it. And it's not hard to figure out that Cassandra used this to ask someone the Demon's name.
It at least shows she pays attention.

Robin (Wayne) has posed:
The hug is broken, and while he did feel an immense gratitude to Cassandra, Damian himself was glad to break the hug when he did. "Thank you." He took the paper in his hand. "Abbadon, I like that name." Of course he did, it's the name of a demon, one of destruction. "How did you know...it doesn't matter." He says, keeping his grin while he plays around with Abbadon.

Batgirl (Cain) has posed:
Cassandra points at the pamphlet, "Priest." She doesn't smile, but she nods in approval, and sits down next to Damian, comfortably. So, a priest told her about the demons. Maybe even talked about Abaddon. And she'd like the name, too. Made him write it down. She seems pleased, perhaps even a little proud. It was, afterall, her first real gift. The 'gift' of the grappler to Spoiler wasn't -really- a gift. It was a pre-welcome to the family with Orcale's blessing.

'Abbadon' of course, will likely live up to his name, as all kittens do, and all cats do, being creatures of curiousity and by such avenues, occassional destruction and devestation. Still, the kitten seems absolutely content with the attention it's getting as if had never been petted or played with -ever- in it's life. Even if Cass might've done so herself, before bringing the kitten here, just a little bit.
She pauses, and adds a second word. "Friend." Meaning, probably, she is Damian's friend. Or, he is hers. Or, maybe friends by the way of association with Bruce. Teammates. It's - kind of hard to tell with her one word sentences, and her lack of being able to really express in tonal values or inflections in her speech that come so naturally to everyone else.

Robin (Wayne) has posed:
"I see...He's fantastic." He offers giving a smile to the kitten. Damian looks up at Cass once she mentions friend. "I would say so. I mean...I don't hold a grudge against you for what Father did. Nor him really."

Batgirl (Cain) has posed:
There is a nod from Cassandra, she had wondered if Damian had held something against her, for besting him, and helping capture him that night. She had played a fair part in the affair, afterall. The revelation seems to please, however. She points to the television, then looks to where the remote control was shattered and pieces of it still lay scattered about. She looks back to Damian, expectant. Silent. Her features questing for an explaination.

Robin (Wayne) has posed:
Damian looks to the television, then back to Cass. "Someone from last week. They bested me in combat, surprisingly enough. She just left me a message through a rash of crimes." Damian sounded much more serious now. "I'm going to take her down...if it's the last thing I do." He meant non-lethally of course, he still was doing all he can to keep his vow to Batman and Nightwing.

Batgirl (Cain) has posed:
"Help?" Batgirl, clearly, willing to offer her assistance. Afterall, she took down Damian (with Batman's help), so perhaps the two of them can 'team-up' and take down this curious evader of justice together? Well, the offer is out there at the very least. Cassandra looks to Damian, then looks down to the kitten, the perplexing creature whose body language she -can't- read. Animals. Interesting. She gently pokes it's forehead with her finger, she, now smiling too, just a little, as the kitten face rubs the stiff finger.
Then she looks back to Damian. There appears only to be patience, there. But, she is resolved to help him if he requires it.

Robin (Wayne) has posed:
Damian looks to the side when Cass mentions help. "I'm not sure yet. I feel like I'm having to learn everything again. My muscles know how to land killing blows, it's different to simply pacify." He mostly was using Cass as a sounding board, but he liked that he could rely on her if he needed. "Killing is easy. Being Robin...it's a much different beast." He noted how Abbadon reacted to Cassandra. "I think he likes you." He offered, giving another chuckle.

Batgirl (Cain) has posed:
The sharp nod from Cassandra is instant agreement. She, too, was trained to kill. "Yes." She says, to the former statement of how difficult it is. "Kill. Arms." A pause, as if her mind had to move from one idea, to the other, like someone having to walk carefully through traffic. "Legs." She pauses again. "Not. Body."
As she had taken out Damian. She looks at him, to see if he understands she means break bones, rip ligaments. Disarm. Incapacitate.

Robin (Wayne) has posed:
"Target...the limbs?" His eyes widened just a bit. He hadn't thought of that before. "Yes! Yes!" He knew what he'd need to focus on now. Instead of his sword, he'd need to use his body more. "I...could tell you were trained like me." Meaning she could possibly been trained as an assassin. "I didn't know you though. If you were in the League." He'd been kept sequestered from most of the usual League activities. Training for Damian had been reserved for only the highest masters, and of course Ra's and Talia al Ghul themselves.

Batgirl (Cain) has posed:
"No." Her mouth works, as she realizes, suddenly, she'd only spoken this much with, really, two other people, really. Barbara. Of course, Barbara. The woman who was helping her learn words. Stephanie - the girl who became her first friend, and ... now Damian. She points at herself, "Cain." She watches him, to see if he recognizes the significance of the surname. While not a member of the League, they did hire David Cain, or worked with him on a near-regular basis.

Robin (Wayne) has posed:
Damian focuses to the distance. Piecing together the name. "Oh...seems like we are both children of legacy." He only knew of David Cain from his dealings with his mother, he'd seen him before and knew that Talia had considered him a good resource. He looks a bit sullen. "Either way...we both managed to get out it seems."

Batgirl (Cain) has posed:
There is not much more that Cassandra can tell. She nods, slowly. She looks just as sullen as Damian, "Yes," she agrees, the word still somewhat forced - but yes, and no, the words she uses most often, come a bit easier than the others. She shrugs. And then, as if that had been enough said between them, she looked back to the newly minted kitten of Wayne Manor. And she petted him a little more, before standing up. She nods to him, watches him a long moment, and then gestures, and makes a brief fist with a quick stance, and gestures again. A silent offer to spar. She, apparently, is headed to the Batcave to practice.

Robin (Wayne) has posed:
If there was any language Damian knew fluently, it was combat. Without a word, the boy hopped up, and gave the kitten another pet, before picking him up. He wanted to make sure he didn't lose the creature in the big mansion. He'd make sure to let him explore the cave, maybe even swipe at a few of the bats that had kept themselves there. Damian was sure he'd practice what Cass had mentioned before, if he was going to be the Boy Wonder, he would get it done right.
