My Worst (Side)Enemy
Date of Scene: 19 August 2017
Location: Honolulu, Hawaii
Synopsis: Superboy's first (and 'worst') enemy the not-so-fearsome Sidearm (aka Sidester, Sidewalk, Sidecar and others) interrupts Clarice and Conner's second date. He has a kryptonite 'arm', but forgot the anti-teleport arm.
Cast of Characters: Superboy, Blink

Superboy has posed:
A warm summer day in Honolulu and the beach is pretty crowded. Many tourists, but also many locals, since it is the weekend. Among them, and always drawing some attention, there is a couple in their late teens. Nothing unusual about their ages, it is their looks.

He is fairly tall, dark-haired and fit. His blue eyes hidden by Ray-Ban sunglasses, a bit retro for 2025 but never a bad choice. He wears jeans and a black T-shirt with a large red S on the front.

Superboy, 'Hero of Hawaii', was a common sight not so long ago, he is a couple inches taller and wear a different (better!) haircut, but he is recognizable by the locals and usually greeted pleasantly.

The girl is an exotic sight. Lavender skin and purple (or magenta) hair. Pointy ears and luminous, solid emerald eyes. Definitely eye-catching, but no one has been a jerk about it yet. Maybe in Hawaii the people is not as quick to associate 'strange looks' with 'evil mutant'.

The boy is talking about past misadventures, trying to keep them on the amusing side, and leave the drama out. "So yeah, I was about three months in a normal high-school and it got leveled by an army of super-women of an evil alien planet. They didnât want me back after that, but I got my G.E.D. anyway. It wasn't hard, just kind of boring."

Blink has posed:
Clarice laughs at the relevant points in the story, though talks of a school being levelled does leave her gasping. For her part she's in a floppy white sunhat, with a matching loose sun dress that's chinched at the waist with a narrow green belt. Her own eyes are hidden behind a much thicker set of sunglasses, of the cheap variety.

"Oh wow... That's got to have been fun to explain to your Head. 'I'm sorry you're school is dead... ten years detention you say?'" She giggles having put on her best 'Conner' voice, which actually wasn't half bad.

Superboy has posed:
Superboy laughs. Detention happened often, usually due to his super-activities. "Don't give them ideas, I bet Mr. Harlin would do just that if he could." He shakes his head, "well, just three months, but I made some friends and I have lost contact with them."

Like with some other things in Hawaii. But he did need a fresh start. "Anyway, I just started college, lets hope this time no super-villains decide to visit. How about you? Are you going to college, clare?"

Blink has posed:
"Well I've been invited to go to Xavier's..." The mutant offers with an airy smile. "But I doubt I'll take them up on it. I've learnt enough from Mister Creed to get by, and anything else I need to know I'm sure I'll pick up as I go." There's a few moments of silence before she asks; "What's a G.E.D anyway? Are they useful?"

With her arm curled around his, it's easy for her to divert him around an oncoming family - apparently out on their holidays. Clarice smiles at them, and for a wonder, they actually smile back. "I really do like it here..." She murmurs softly.

Superboy has posed:
"It is a certification I needed for college since I never got a high school diploma," explains the young man. "I actually scored high enough for a scholarship, but not where I wanted in New York so... I guess I am not going to have much pocket cash the next four years." Because, serious, he does not expect to be able to do really well in college. He is doing it out of peer pressure and curiosity.

"What is Xavierâs? Is that an academy in Genosha?" He asks. That probably shows he is a newcomer to the New York hero scene.

Then suddenly, an angry voice can be heard behind them. "Superboy! How do you dare to return here? This time I will destroy you!" Turning back Clarice can see there is a tall, powerful built man. Not bad-looking, with long orange-red hair, blue eyes and somewhat scruffy, tough appearance. He wears a metal breastplate from which two extra metal arms and two tentacle-like appendix sprout.

"Sidecar?" Asks Conner, looking surprised. "I thought you were dead!"

"It is Sidearm, you idiot. Side-Arm!" Protests the red-headed man.

Blink has posed:
"Oh, it's like a school for mutants. He takes in kids and protects them and teaches them like a real school, only they teach them to control their powers as well. Place seems really neat, it's also where the X-me-" And then there's the man shouting at her date, a sigh escaping her lips as she breathes the word; "Again?" Before turning herself to see Mister Side-burns.

"Really? You couldn't have done this any /other/ day?" The girl is already pulling off her hat and sunglasses, dropping them on a nearby cafe table as she eyes up the other guy. When she starts talking though, it's to Conner; "So what's this guy's deal? Any powers I need to know about other than that metal arm thingy?" She raises her voice to call to the guy; "Is that your assisted living thing? Because I don't beat up disabled people..." Which causes Side-Arm's face to turn red, for the moment at least, he seems to angry to reply. Blink just grins. "Shall we?"

Superboy has posed:
"Oh this is... Sidester," explains Superboy, smirking at Clarice. "Met him in Metro, and somehow he ended up in Hawaii. He is a dumbass crook and he," he turns to the quickly getting angrier Sidearm. "He ended up working for the Silicon Dragon gang and drowned when their underwater base was flooded. Or so everyone thought."

Sidearm punches at Conner with one of the cybernetic arms, but the younger man just stops the punch with his hand. "Sorry, Sidestep. Kryptonian powers kicked in and I am way faster and stronger than a year ago. You really shouldnât have come to bother us." Sidearm growls, trying to pull his arm back, but Superboy keeps him held. "Tactile telekinesis still works, remember it?" Sidearm's bionic limb begins to unravel.

"It is Sidearm! And I am ready for you!" One of the tentacle limbs slips forward and opens to reveal a small green stone, held by pincers. Conner releases the captured first and stumbles back, wincing in obvious pain.

Sidearm punches him hard and the young man goes flying ten yards into the beach, face first.

Blink has posed:
Green gem equals weak Conner. That's all she really needs to get from /that/ exchange. Most supers would call out a warning, or a challenge or /something/ to give the bad guy a chance. It's only fair and sporting and all the other drivel that they'd use to explain away what is effectively a way to throw some quips and insults about.

Blink isn't like that though, she was trained by Sabretooth. And lesson number one? Be ruthless. And so there's no warning before a -Blink!- announces a portal blossoming /across/ that arm, neatly severing the tip so that it falls away from the appendage.

Her other hand is already moving, another -Blink!- and a smaller portal opens almost immediately after the first, the end (and the apparent kryptonite) falling through and away... Somewhere. Clarice grins, /now/ it's time to quip; "Awww, he seems pretty arm-less to me!" It's bad, but it makes her giggle all the same. And she hasn't even needed to get in close yet...

Superboy has posed:
Conner groans, rolling over. At least he got punched away from the kryptonite. Good thing Sidearm is extremely -not- smart. His Ray-Bans are shattered, though, and he will have a black eye. But nothing that half an hour of sunlight can't fix.Sidearm, on the other hand, blinks surprised when his tentacle is cut. Cheap metal, not much of a challenge for Clarice to do that. "W-what? No, I spent all my saving to get that shard from the black market!" Outrageous. He had to bust two dozen ATM machines to steal enough to buy it.

He turns to Clarice. "You should have stayed out of this, you elf bimbo!" He announces. Because Sidearm has not been trained by Sabretooth. In fact he probably dropped out Taskmaster's School for Thugs and Henchmen.

But his bionic limbs are pretty quick, and he tries to grab Clarice with his remaining metal hand, and then drive his other tentacle, armed with a spear-point, through her chest.

Blink has posed:
She should have been expecting it, but thanks to taking a moment to look over at Conner, nothing stops the whip-quick arm from grabbing her by the wrist and dragging her withing striking distance.

It's clear where the spear is going, the teen barely getting up a hand in time to -Blink!- a portal before her chest is impaled like a kebob.

A -Whissssk!- of noise heralds the shooting forward of that sparkling and very deadly appendage... Followed by a bellow of pain from Sidearm as his thigh is pierced by his own tentacle, his hand spasming and allowing Clarice to roll free - she too was going to have some bruises around that wrist. And they weren't going to fade in half an hour either...

Blood starts to seep through Sidearm's clothing, Clarice just having enough presence of mind to snap her tears shut, neatly cutting the arm from it's host, and leaving the spike sticking a good six inches or more into his flesh. "/Don't/ pull it out, or you might bleed out. Surrender, and we'll get you to a hospital." There, that seems suitably heroic after her instinctive response... She daren't look at Conner though, not after what happened the last time she did.

Superboy has posed:
That spear-point was actually very high-quality metal. It was designed to injure Superboy, after all. So it goes through Sidearm's armor as if it was cardboard. The man cries in pain, and of course pulls it out as quickly as possible, not listening to Clarice, the elf bimbo (Sidearm is secretly addicted to WoW).

Then he glares at the girl, but before he can say anything dumb again, Conner flies in and punches the villain in the jaw. Hard enough to break it. "And stay down, Sidewalk."

The man is bleeding badly, so Conner tries to apply a tourniquet, but it is too high on his leg. Cops come running, too. "Clarice," he turns to the girl. "Do you know a good hospital? 'Cause this looks pretty bad."

Blink has posed:
"I can do Gotham General?" She's already pulling a door open from a vantage point so that she can open another closer to ground level without hurting anyone - or anything. "Here, go go. I'll tell them what happened..." Because the cops are going to want to know, and she was the one who actually /stabbed/ the guy. Not that she'd do it differently, it certainly finished the fight quickly.

"Sooooo, hiiii officer!" The teen croons with her best Blase grin, hands up with palms out in the universal 'I'm unarmed' pose. "See, thing is, Sidearm here..." she's soon lost in explaining the particulars, the officer scribbling furiously to keep up with the Barbadian's quick way of speaking.

Superboy has posed:
But... he will have to leave Clarice alone with the cops. Conner sighs. "Ask for officer Sam Makoa, he is a friend," he tells her, dragging Sidearm to the portal. At least they would have a lot of experience with stabbings in Gotham. "Check the cellphone, will call you as soon as I can," adds the young man, jumping through the doorway.
