Synopsis: Summary needed
Cast of Characters: Rainmaker, 1277

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah didn't really expect to hear back about the shirt, somehow. She's gotten in the habit of just carrying a spare shirt with her, considering how often a certain roommate of hers somehow manages to have her outfit trashed whenever she gets into trouble. So she buys in bulk these days when she does! So she was pleasantly suprised to be called back about it, and after some initial insistence that you were welcome to keep if if you'd like, she finally was worn down to where she agreed to grab lunch with you and take it back if it meant that much to you. So she gave ou an address, and said she'd be there relatively soon.

She's staked out a corner booth, a glass of water in front of her with a squeezed lemon slice next to it, and a little plate of edamame which she's nibbling on as she waits, reading what looks like a used textbook of some sort.

Claire Bennet (1277) has posed:
Claire Bennet makes her way in, a little shyly, blonde hair tucked behind her ears with a bit of nerves. She carries the shirt in a little shopping bag, like she picked it up from the store. She's wearing a yellow t-shirt with Tweety Bird on it, a pair of black leggings and sandals.

She sits carefully and smiles, "Um, hi," she says. "Thanks again, so much, I was in kind of a real jam out there. I wasn't really prepared for, uh, action, I guess," she says. "I'm still pretty new at this."

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah looks up and smiles, closing her book as she sets it on the bench next to by her bag. "Don't worry about it, I have a friend who's hard on clothes, so I kind of carry a clean shirt around just in case she needs it too." she says ruefully, leaning back in her chair. "Thank you for bringing it back, though I would have been fine if you kept it too, it was freely given."

She shrugs and leans forward a bit, smiling. "Though it's nice to get a chance to chat with you when things aren't crazy." She hesistates. "I mean...I guess I was expecting somehow that you weren't...advertising your talents, so...."

Claire Bennet (1277) has posed:
Claire Bennet smiles, "It doesn't really fit, I'm kind of tiny, I know," she says. "It might've been a good nightie, I guess, for when I felt like one!" she says.

To the last, she purses her lips, "I kind of go back and forth on it. My dad felt pretty strongly about me keeping things under wraps. He's afraid for me, doesn't want me to attract the wrong kind of attention. But...I'm not, like, ashamed of what I am, of what I can do. I want to help people, although...I"m not really good at it yet. I can survive just about anything, but I can't really do much. I've taken a bit of judo, but I'm not even close to, like, a black belt yet. So, at best, I'm just a distraction. A target for the bad guys to hit while somebody else can actually take them out."

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah leans back, getting a thoughful, considering look as she watches you, then takes a sip from her water, before she leans forward again, lowering her voice. "Okay..." she says quietly. "Honestly, Claire...you father isn't wrong. There are people that will be looking for a girl like you, for various reasons. Either because they hate you, or because they want to use you."

She idly runs her finger over the top of her glass. "...I'm not saying that to terrify you or anything. But..." She swallows a bit. "...take it from someone who knows first hand, being careful is a good idea. Especially if it's just you here alone?" she says slowly, then mms, leaning back. "...sorry if I'm prying here." she apologizes.

Claire Bennet (1277) has posed:
Claire Bennet shakes her head, "No, no, it's fine,' she says. "I'm here alone, yeah, I needed to...get away. My dad's very controlling. See, he...well, he's been involved with some people, before, people who captured people like me, policed superhumans, although I don't think they're with the government exactly. I don't know, he was kind of unclear about it and I"m not sure I'd believe him anyway," she sighs.

"But yeah, I'm on my own. I'm not afraid, though. I don't want to be imprisoned, but, I mean, if I don't do anything, if I just live my life in fear...I'm kind of imprisoning myself, right?"

Rainmaker has posed:
The Amerindian girl across from you leans back, then lets out a low sigh. "...no, but..." She frowns at you. "...it's not good to be on your own either. That's what they look for. So...be careful of anyone who promises you something that's too good to be true, especially if you can't find much information on it on your own. Some groups like to pretend to be recruiting for special schools or such when it's just a cover for something a lot worse."

Her dark eyes watch yours, a quiet look in them. "I mean...do you have someone to live with? Or where are you living, hotel, or did you find an apartment or....what are you doing to make money in the meantime?"

Claire Bennet (1277) has posed:
Claire Bennet shakes her head, "No, I...I wouldn't sign up for anything like that. I"m just going to college, the regular way. Living in a dorm. I haven't picked a major yet, I've been kind of...distracted with all this. I just went to school here to get away from my family back in California, I just needed...distance," she says.

"I don't even really have any friends here," she says. "Not that I...I mean...I"m not trying to get you to feel sorry for me, it's just...the way it is, y'know? I made the choice to move here, to leave my old life behind. The girls back home, all my friends, they don't really understand. SOme of them stopped talking to me at all and the others, it's just like...texting and Snapchat and not even much of that..."

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah waves that off and smiles a bit. "No, I get it." she says gently, then gets a slightly wistful look. "And it's good you're at a school then, that gives you some protection."

She pauses, then says softly. "And I mean...I mean, now you know me, and the other girls who were there the other day, so that's a start? I don't know a lot about them...well, other than Wonder Girl, I've seen her in Titan news stories. But you've got my number, if you need help." She pauses. "...I do know a little bit about two of the 'safe' schools for people with special abilities, but...only a lot about one. Not sure how much you know about what you can do and why?"

Claire Bennet (1277) has posed:
Claire Bennet shrugs, "I don't know anything. It just...happened. I got hurt and it got better. Really fast. And it got faster. And it stopped...hurting. Now it doesn't hurt at all. Like, I feel it, I know when something bad's happened, but it's no different than, like, being touched or having an itch at worst," she says.

"I"m not sure I really need school for it, I mean...it's not like flying or throwing lasers with my eyes or stuff, it's not anything I can train, it just...happens," she says. "But it wa really cool to meet other people like me, people like you. And you were nice to me," she says with a soft smile.

Rainmaker has posed:
"Hey, don't undersell what you can do..." Sarah says with a faint smile. "That kind of healing is pretty damn rare from what I know." She looks thoughful. "Do you think it's a mutant ability? Lots of mutant kids get their powers when they hit puberty sometimes." And Gen-Actives like herself, but she was a VERY early bloomer, she thinks to herself. "Maybe I can find someone who can tell you more about what's going on with you? I mean, I can't promise much, but I do know some people who might..." she says thoughfully. She smiles. "Well...you seem nice, so...it's not that hard to be nice back to you, reallly." she adds cheerfully.

Claire Bennet (1277) has posed:
Claire Bennet nods, "Maybe! Mutant seems like the easiest explanation, although I guess a lot of them it's, like, puberty and I was a bit older. I was sixteen," she says. "Although I guess I could've had it earlier and just not known it? I don't know."

"I appreciated it anyway. And, I hope you don't mind, I got you a little something, just a couple of bangles from the mall I thought you might like, just as a thank you again. They're in the bag, too," she says.

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah nods a bit. "Mine came really early...and it was hard not to realize it.": she admits with a sigh. "Well...I mean, if you didn't find out unless you're injured...is it any injury or just serious ones that trigger it?" Sarah says curiously.

At the discussion of bangles, she blinks and looks at the bag. "Oh! Ah, thank you...you didn't have to do that." she says with a smile, picking up the bag, then checking inside curiously to tug what's inside.

Claire Bennet (1277) has posed:
Claire Bennet nods, "I was kind of a late bloomer all around, I was built like a little boy until I was, like, fifteen. And I didn't get that much better," she grins. "It's pretty much everything, but I don't know if it was always that way? LIke, it feels like my powers sort of accelerated at some point. I used to experiment with them. I would hurt myself, throw myself off buildings, in front of trains. I...made some videos of it, although I never posted them on the internet, thank god," she says.

"And I know I didn't have to, but you were really sweet!" she says. They're not anything too fancy, just some bracelets, one with a bit of turquoise cause she's a basic white girl and doesn't know much about Native Americans.

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah takes it out, then smiles a little wryly at the turquoise, but doesn't comment on it. Instead, she says. "Thank you, that's thoughful..." she says, sliding the turquoise bracelet on her left wrist before setting the bag down next to her. "You went out of your way, I'm glad the shirt was that helpful to you.' she says cheerfully.

Sarah winces at the confession of how you went out of your way to hurt yourself. "And...it really doesn't hurt? Wow, that's...pretty impressive." Maybe a little dangerous, she wonders, if you don't feel when you're hurt...but then, you apparently can recover from just about any injury from the sound of it. "Well...I was the opposite..." Sarah admits. "I'm not sure if it's because of my...weird genetics, or what, but I started being able to do little things when I was still in middle school.

Claire Bennet (1277) has posed:
Claire Bennet listens, ordering a drink for herself and a bowl of hot and sour soup when the waitress comes by. "That must've been pretty scary. I was freaked out enough at sixteen. I can't imagine being that young and suddenly having powers. You must've been panicked," she says.

She meant well with the present, anyway, even if she didn't exactly hit the mark. She and her friends back home used to exchange little presents like that as a way of bonding - she sometimes got matching earrings for the whole cheerleading squad. It's a tentative first step to try to establish some sort of connection.

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah seems fine with her edamame for now, nibbling at it as she gets a refill on her water. "Well...I was a little weirded out at first.." she admits softly. "But my people believe in spirits in nature, and that there being a connection to aspects of the world. So....when I started feeling the wind and water....it wasn't too bad a jump, once I got used to it." She smiles. "And I could help my people...making it rain when we needed it, lessening bad storms, that sort of thing, which was always a good thing. So I saw it as more of a gift?"

She smiles a bit. "Hmm, I feel like I should have let you keep the shirt anyway, I didn't bring anything as a gift back for you..." she says ruefully. She sort of missed...well, pretty much all of high school socializing...so she's got a lot of gaps in what she should know is expected or not.

Claire Bennet (1277) has posed:
Claire Bennet smiles, "Well, then, you'll just have to get me something the next time we meet, then!" she says with bright eyes.

"Making it rain does seem like it's pretty nice. You can really help people that way," she says. "I'm not very spiritual myself - I don't think my family ever went to church except once or twice for Christmas and Easter," she says. "Not the same thing, I know. Having such a strong connection to your people must be very...grounding," she says.

Rainmaker has posed:
"It does help now that I'm separated from my family, yes." she says quietly, then smiles weakly. "I try not to be too obvious with using my powers here though." she admits. "There are....people, hunting for me, and some of my friends. I'd rather not draw them down on us."

She hmms. "So...are you considering joining one of the supergroups out there? Titans or Young Avengers, or sthat sort of thing? Or are you wanting to stay on your own for a bit?"

Claire Bennet (1277) has posed:
Claire Bennet nods softly, "It can be hard, being so far away from family. I mean, I did it on purpose, I wasn't running from anybody, but it's tough being alone," she says.

She bites her bottom lip, "I would like to, but I don't really...know how. I mean, I don't have a costume even! Are you a part of anything like that?"

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah lets out a warm laugh at that. "Oh no! Nonono..." She shakes her head, sipping from her water. "I'm not the costumed type." I mean, she does have a uniform, she guesses, but it's...kind of embarrassing to wear. "I just try to help where I can. There are a lot of teens like us here, who don't have a lot of support, so I try to help with that too. I mean, I know people..' she admits thoughfully. "Even if I'm not involved more closely with other groups."

She meets your gaze. "But if you want training for that, I'd really recommend maybe...looking into one of these schools? Or someplace like the Titans, or...maybe the Legion types? I heard they might be recruiting at some point."

Claire Bennet (1277) has posed:
Claire Bennet smiles, "I bet you could look pretty amazing in a costume," she says. "Yeah, I don't know if teenagers are the best at, like, being organized on our own. We tend to get a little distracted," she admits.

"I don't know about a full school. I mean, I already have college and, like, I don't know if superheroing is really a career. I mean...people don't get paid for it? I guess I could be a cop or something but, like...I don't know anything about that. Would I even be good at it? Just because I can heal fast, does that mean I should do that? I don't know. It's weird, it's just...I thought I'd go to college and, honestly, just...figure out my life. I'd probably end up selling real estate or something. Now, I don't even know."

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah smiles softly at that. "I think that's a good way to do it right now, if you're not sure. If your abilities aren't obvious, there's no reason you have to build your life around them." she says gently. "And college is a good place to figure out who you want to be.' She'd be there herself! If, y'know, there weren't murderous illegal black ops types looking for her.

"How about this then...you keep my number. If you need help, or advice, you can give me a call? Though please, be careful who you tell about me, or give it out too..." she says, worrying her lower lip a bit. "I'd like to help but...it makes me a bit nervous if a lot of people know who I am or roughly where I am. No offense to you or anyone else who might honestly need a helping hand, y'know?"

Claire Bennet (1277) has posed:
Claire Bennet nods quickly, "No, no, I totally understand, I...I won't tell anyone, really. I don't really have anyone to tell," she admits a bit sheepishly. "I don't even keep a diary. I used to, but my parents read it. That's how they found out some about my powers," she says.

"But yeah, I guess I'll just...keep doing what I've been doing. But try to help when I can. If I can," she says.

Rainmaker has posed:
"Just be careful. Help out when you can, but don't get in front of TV cameras or something until you're ready." Sarah advises softly, snagging another bit of edamame to pop open the pod and nibble out the beans inside. "Mmmm...and figure out what you want to do? Try things!" She smiles softly. "It's kinda what college should be for, y'know. Not just to figure out what job you want, but to try things, experience other viewpoints. Broadening your mind and experiences."

She grins a bit. "I mean, I can't tell you about sororities or such or things like that, though I suspect you'd fit in pretty well to one. Though there are academic and career based one as well as social ones?"

Claire Bennet (1277) has posed:
Claire Bennet grins, "I'd probably do better in social ones. I wasn't exactly great at academics. Not bad! Just...not really a bookworm. I was, um, a cheerleader. Head cheerleader, actually," she says. "I was kind of shallow, really. Straight out of the stereotype, I might as well have been a villain in a teen movie," she says.

"But finding my powers kind of...changed things. Made me realize what it was like to be different. Now I don't really fit in where I used to fit, but I'm still too much myself to fit in with outsiders either, so I'm kind of...in-between."

Rainmaker has posed:
The other girl nods slightly, reaching up to idly brush a loose strand of her long hair behind her ear. "Everyone feels like that, I think, when they hit a certain age. That...feeling like you want to find out more about the world and figure out where you want to be." She smiles faintly. "Well, be social then! Nothing wrong with that. Try out to be a cheerleader...I imagine you'd be a really good one with your abilities, you'd be able to recover from strains or pulls or anything like that pretty much immediately."

Claire Bennet (1277) has posed:
Claire Bennet smiles, "I definitely want to see what the world has to offer, try new things," she sighs. "I don't want to be just a girl who dates the quarterback and becomes a trophy wife. Not anymore," she says. "I thought about trying out for the squad in college, though. I miss the friendships, the girl talk, the closeness. A sorority might have that, too, but I'm afraid about them finding out about me."

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah mmms, then reaches across the table to pat your hand gently. "...well, you've got me to chat about stuff like that if you need it." she says with a faint smile. "I mean...I can at least hear you vent about it or maybe get you help if you need it." She wrinkles her nose. "...cheerleading and sororities, not so much." She tilts her head. "If that helps?"

Claire Bennet (1277) has posed:
Claire Bennet blushes at the touch to her hand and nods, "I'll definitely take you up on that," she says. The nose-crinkling makes her giggle, "It's not as bad as you think, I promise. Mostly it's just being close friends and, yeah, learning some dance routines together. Some people try to make it like a social elite thing and I guess I kinda fell for that a while when I was young, but by the time I was running the squad, I didn't have time for that sort of nonsense," she says. "Bullying and stuff."

Rainmaker has posed:
There's that faintly wistful light in Sarah's eye briefly before she shakes her head. "Well...wouldn't know about that, but...I think it's good you feel you've changed for the better. And that you want to help others." She tilts her head. "I've heard it said that empathy is about finding echoes of other people in yourself...so if you care about others, the more you find out how you're like them." She smiles a bit. "If you like philosophy, anyway."

Claire Bennet (1277) has posed:
Claire Bennet smiles, "I don't know if I know what I like anymore," she says. "I would've probably blown off the idea and gone back to my phone two years ago. Now? I don't know," she says. She sees that wistful look on Sarah's face and now it's she who reaches out to squeeze the other girl's hand. "You always imagine that having powers would help, would make things easier, but it always makes things more complicated, somehow."

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah glances down as you touch her hand, then smiles ruefully, letting out a huff of a sigh. "You're not joking..." she says simply. "Even if it wasn't for the dangerous of having powers, you have to decide how you want to use them...what level of responsibility you feel you have to use them. If it's going to be your focus, or if it's going to be something that's part of you but not where your heart lies."

The older girl shrugs a little. "You've got time to figure it out though...don't feel like you've got to rush? Be a college girl for a while." She smiles faintly.

Claire Bennet (1277) has posed:
Claire Bennet nods softly and sits back in her seat, "I guess that's just like anybody in its own way, just...amplified. And I can be impatient sometimes, I like to have things figured out and neat and right now it's all...messy," she says.

She takes a quick sip of her water, "And the road goes both ways, okay? If you need to talk or vent or...anything really? I mean...you're the first friend I've made here."

Rainmaker has posed:
Sarah smiles a bit. "Sure...I'll keep that in mind. If nothing else, something might come up you can help with?" She sighs. "And yes, it's messy, but that's part of figuring out all the new things, I guess." She tilts her head. "Which school are you at, by the way?"
