Cast of Characters: Melinda May, Black Widow (Romanoff), Harry Dresden

Melinda May has posed:
SHIELD Agent Melinda May has been trying to quietly gather as much intel as she can about a particular group of demons known as Crossroads Demons the ones that offer people a deal: a set amount of time and the thing that they're willing to sell their soul for, in exchange for their soul suffering eternal damnation once that set time is finished. She's not explained why to anyone who has asked, but is seeking out this information with a focus and determination that even those who know her better than most would find unusual. And it very well could be why it's garnered the attention of another elite SHIELD agent.

This brings her to the office of one Harry Dresden, a self-proclaimed wizard based out of Gotham. Based on other lines of inquiry, she's not expecting this visit to be any more lucrative than previous ones. But no stone unturned and all that. The timer is running on the deal she learned about and she will NOT just let it happen if she can do anything at all.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
Natasha is not in a position to complain about anyone not acting like themselves of late. She understands obsession when she sees it. May is obsessed with finding out this information. She hasn't pressed. If the roles were reversed, she wouldn't be sharing details so she can't expect May to do so. However, she can be there for her fellow agent to show she isn't alone in her quest. Whatever that quest may be.
Upon finding out they were going to visit a wizard, she admittedly had a bit of incredulity. She works with gods though so should she really doubt there are wizards? It's just most aren't in the phone listings for hire.
    To each their own.
She is in dress slacks, a green shirt that goes well with her eyes, and a lightweight black leather jacket that keeps her weapons from being visible. She steps to the side of the door then reaches out a hand to knock on the hard surface.

Harry Dresden has posed:
Standing behind his desk, the tall wizard looms over a map that has been laid out flat on its surface. The pendant dangling from his hand hovering over the map, swirling around in gradually increasing circles as Harry lowly chants something under his breath as he concentrates on the task in front of him. Suddenly, the crystal at the end of the pendant hovers over a specific area on the map and remains still, drawn to a spot as if magnetized.

Until Natasha knocks on the door and breaks Harry's concentration. The pendent drops like a stone as gravity once again exerts its effect on the stone. "Hells bells!" exclaims the wizard, glaring at the spot on the map and marking it as quickly as he can with a pen before he looks up to the doorway. "Didn't you see the sign? Wizard wizarding in here! I don't come knock..." Harry pauses and looks to the pair, "Sorry. What can I do for you ladies?"

Melinda May has posed:
Dressed similarly to Natasha, they are probably a slightly unusual sight. When the tall man answers their knock, she looks up at him squarely. An evaluating look. "Are you Harry Dresden?" If she was in any way put off by his ranting as the door opened, it doesn't show. In fact, she seems like she could give Spock a run for his money.

She doesn't offer anything else yet, as she's not about to mention her demon hunt while standing on this guy's doorstep.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
At the answering of the door, Natasha's expression shifts to a smile. She is apparently the friendly one of the pair. At least, she is for the moment. "We're very sorry to have interrupted, Mr. Dresden," she says, making the jump that he is their man. Wizard wizarding and all that. "We just need a few moments of your time if you would be willing. It's a matter of upmost importance or we would've called for an appointment."

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden drops the necklace to the table with a bit of a clatter and smirks, glancing at May. "If I am not, he is going to be really miffed that I am wearing his underwear."

He motions to the chairs that are in front of his desk, "Please, come and take a seat. Can I get you any coffee or anything? Oh, and as a word of caution, if you have any cellphones or highly electronic items you might want to turn them off before they short out. Now, what can I do for you both?"

Melinda May has posed:
May accepts one of the offered seats, reaching into her jacket to turn off the burner phone she carries for non-SHIELD communications, trusting that the proper SHIELD equipment on her person has already been tested and confirmed resistant to whatever the man just warned them against. And, the underwear comment is completely ignored as is the offer of coffee.

"I'm researching demon hunters and demons. What do you know about either or both?"

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
If her gauntlets malfunction, they are all in trouble. Natasha doesn't let it show but she does turn off her own cellphone. Not like she can really power down the gauntlets. They are more like a gun than anything else so maybe they will survive the meeting.
As May talks, she glances over to the woman then back to watch Harry's face, reading his expressions and body language automatically.

Harry Dresden has posed:
Taking his seat after the ladies do, Harry leans back into his chair and places his elbows on the desk in front of him, steepling his fingers together as he listens. "Depends on the demon. Are we talking creatures from the Never Never, or are we talking Outsider, or even a fallen angel? I know a lot about some, little about others...but I can always learn more. I have one hell of a research assistant. As far as hunting them, well, that is just playing with your life. They aren't like shooting rabbits. I've faced down toad demon in nothing but the clothes I was born with, and had to channel a lightning bolt through my arm. That tingled in places you don't want that kind of tingle. If you have their name, well it becomes about 100 times easier to vanquish them. Names have power. With I had a blood name for the Elder Demon I have been chasing around. This thing is nasty."

Melinda May has posed:
May is about to offer a bit more information before she hastily reaches into her jacket and whips a device the size of a USB memory stick out and against the nearest wall with a good bit of force. It lets out a tiny, well above human hearing range squeak before it pops audibly and dies. She glances at Natasha, mentally cursing that she's going to have to requisition another signal jammer, then turns her attention back to Dresden.

"I don't have a specific name I can share, but I have a general type. Crossroads demon."

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
With May's sudden movement, the good cop known as Natasha goes stiff for a moment, hand moving to her jacket. As the device hits the wall and gives a pitiful death gasp in the form of a pop, she relaxes. And considers leaving. Gauntlets. Electromagnetic shocks. Explosives.
    Nothing bad can happen here.

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden glances from May tot he wall where the device was smashed and then to Natasha, his left hand raising and shaking out a bracelet until she herself relaxes before lowering his arm again. "I warned ya." is all he says, shrugging a shoulder as if his conscious is clear of the whole thing. "Magic...at least my magic...and technology don't get along very well. Doctor Strange and others don't seem to have the same issues as I do. I send off some sort of field that causes it all to go haywire."

He leans back into his chair, "Crossroads demon? I'll admit that is a little out of my wheelhouse. I can find out information though, if you want to leave me a number to get information to you. I can't email it or anything, but I can at least use a landline to get word to you about a drop off."

Melinda May has posed:
Reaching into her jacket again, May pulls out a business card very simply printed with a phone number on it and nothing else. Not even a name. "Any information will be useful. Contact me when you have a lead, Mr. Dresden. We won't keep you any longer." She sets the card on the desk and moves to stand, planning on retrieving the dead jammer before leaving.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
As May stands, so does Natasha. She turns and walks for the door, not hurrying her steps although she is counting the seconds. Nothing like waiting to see if your wrists are going to blow up just from being in a room with someone. It's definitely a first. Not something she can say about a lot of things after ninety plus years.
