Synopsis: Summary needed
Cast of Characters: Harry Dresden, Kaelyn Silverleaf

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden is about to say something when Karrin's phone rings. He knows that ringtone and sighs, "You're just lucky that thing is still working. You usually turn it off when around me." the wizard says as he folds his arms over his chest, giving a little bit of a smile at the kiss and run maneuver Karrin has mastered.

He sighs, watching her go before turning his attentions back to Kaelyn and her 'pets'. "Spell? You're telling me you created these with magic?" Harry looks somewhat incredulous a this, "Please tell me you aren't trapping spirits inside these things without their consent or the loss of their free will." Harry questions as he watches the little dragon thing approach. "I have no love for the WC, and it's not like I am going to go running to them about laws of magic violations...but all the same."

Kaelyn Silverleaf has posed:
Kae peers "Noo, Lifelike Automata animation magic doesn't have anything in it normaly for the trapping of spirits..." Kae says and motions to the creature... "And honestly.." she says as she stands and well her foot gets pounced.. The Redhead's eyebrows twitch and she winces a bit as her foot's being chewed on by a 20 lb brass dragon.. "You think Fan's short of free will?" she asks, now deciding to distract the creature by tossing a quarter across the room, which then hits and rollls, and is then chased after by the brass construct.. "Anyhow, it's more of a type of golemn magic that somehow things went wrong.. I'm thinking maybe if it was a spirit that is accounting for the way it acts that maybe the spirit -wanted- to be connected to him..." Kae says and shrugs "As I've said, I only did it twice, and both at the same time, when trying some ancient egyptian magics." she adds and grins a bit... "Heck, it might not even have a spirit attached, could have just been that everything worked just right to make for magically creatied artificial intelligence..." Kae adds, then she tugs out her phone..

The phone is odd in its own right, even though it looks like just a smart phone. "I've been experimenting with artificing and creating clockwork based constructs instead of making like clay golems and the like... Trying to advance the science, that and I'm trying to make high tech items that mages can use too... Being that some of us have auras that eat technology." she says with a slight smile, then offers her phone to Harry... "Pretty much all the technology you see in this shop is an artificed contraption, yah made to look and work like its technological equivalent."

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden arches his brow as he stares at the little automaton as he falls silent, watching the thing for a while. "I suppose a golem makes some sort of sense, but typically constructs like that don't have sentience. Not to the point where they think and do things for themselves. If that is a golem, it is one of the more unique ones I have come across. Much more pleasant anyway. Most the time they are just trying to kill me."

He shrugs and looks towards Kae as she bring her phone over, "Hey..you might want to be careful with that. It might short out and explode....wait, what? You're telling me you can make a cell phone work?" He eyes the thing suspiciously, like it is going to explode in his hand and leave him with nothing but a stump. "You gotta be shittin' me."

Kaelyn Silverleaf has posed:
Kae laughs "Ok, lets look at it this way, all the signals put out, wifi, cell whatever are energy sources right? Magic and these sources interfeer with each other, so that means one can be used to emulate the other... Anyhow, I've figured a way to make a magically powered, magically run machine that works like a modern smart phone, all the way down to a modified android operating system. It can even be used to store pre-prepped spells if you're savvy enough to programme them in." Kae adds with a grin.. "NOw, that all being said, I can't make em quick, so there's no way I'm getting rich selling these things to everyone any time soon." She adds and grins a bit. She then taps her chin, and looks to Tina "Do me a favor, go get one of the extra phones from the back would you?" Tina then nods as Tanya takes over the checkout counter, then runs into the back rooms.

Kae then adds "Anyhow, how I've figured out how to make a cell phone work, is I've made an artifact that works exactly like a cell phone.. You can even touch it to another and transfer data." Kae says and motions to her phone... "It hasn't gone kaboom yet has it?"

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden just stares between Kae and the phone. "I understood about one third of what you said. What is an android operating system? Wifi is..oh wait, that is the way those phones look up that internet thing, right? Karrin uses that on occasion, when I am not around." He shakes his head in disbelief as he looks down at the phone in his hand, turning it over and examining it more closely, opening up his senses to feel the magic. "I...I have no idea how in the hell you did this. I couldn't even dream of trying to make something like this, but then subtle magics are not exactly my strong suit."

Kaelyn Silverleaf has posed:
Kae grins cheerfully "Guess it can't all be fireballs and force bolts right?" she says cheerfully... "Anyhow, I'm an Artificer. Subtle magics and enchantments are my specialty... she says and as Tina returns with a wooden box, she offers it to Dresden "Give it a try for a while, see if it works for ya..." she says and settles on a nearby chair... "Anyhow, I'm Kaelyn, new to this area and all, but I'm guessing you can probably tell by the store and stuff..."

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden hands the phone back and looks at the box, taking it and placing it on the table. "Uh..Harry. Harry Dresden." he says in way of introducing himself. "Wizard. I'm normally based out of Gotham."

He reaches up and rubs at his chin, scratching at the stubble that has collected there over the last couple of days. "Look, I appreciate the offer, but I can't pay you for that. I'm not rolling in cash, and the components to make that must have cost a fortune. As it is I need to spend what I do have on some depleted uranium. I need to make more ghost dust."

Kaelyn Silverleaf has posed:
Kae tilts her head and laughs "Try it out, I'm experimenting, you'd be doing me a favor to put it through its paces and make sure it works.. I can't exactly market something to the wizarding community that's going to be busted the first time one of us starts casting spells around it right?" Kae says with a grin then shrugs "And the components I used to make it were a lot less expensive than you might think." She adds with a grin... "Anyhow you can plug it into a wall to charge it, electricity is electricity, doesn't matter where it comes from, it should interract with any normal modern computer, though from what you've told me ya can't be around them long." Kae says and smiles cheerfully... "And it's hard for me to do tests as it's my magic and spells and rituals that make these little beggers so they're not gonna just mess up when I use em..."

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden chuckles. "Um, sure. I'll have to have Karrin charge it. I don't have electricity at home. I got tired of always replacing light bulbs, and without outlets there is less likelyhood of wiring going tits up and causing a fire. Same reason I don't have a hot water heater...but I will have her charge it at her office or her place, and i'll give it a test run for you. I'm sure she can walk me through how to use this...android? She knows that computer stuff"

Kaelyn Silverleaf has posed:
Kae facefaults a little bit as to just how much stuff Dresden destroys.. "Ummm well here's good news, if the phone works for you and all, then well ummmm it should work for anyone else, as this is probably the worst I've ever heard any wizard's aura screwing with modern electronics, ever..." She adds and rubs the back of her neck... I have some good books on basic artificing too, if you're intrested in like making your self some lights and appliances and stuff.." she glances around now curiously... "I mean yah I'm guilty of using my artificed items over normal modern day stuff, but I try to make em look like normal things..." She then gets a chair and climbs to a lamp, before she removes the bulb, the light given off by the bulb stays over the socket of the ceiling lamp. When she lowers the ceiling lamp the light stays hovered the same distance over the socket, before Kae screws the bulb back in, which now tints the little ball of light... "Of course if you can link things into the local electric grid, with the right items you can use electricity to power some of your constructs."

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden nods, sliding the little box closer to him on the table. "Really? It's not like this for you? Most wizards I know have this problem. Well, save for Strange...he seems to play by different rules." He shrugs, "Any technology past the 60's tends to start malfunctioning, and the more advanced the technology the quicker it goes kaput. Cell phones and computers tend to only last minutes at most."

Kaelyn Silverleaf has posed:
Kae smiles and shrugs "I'm an artificer and all, my aura and such differs slightly from a regular wizard's or mage. It's why not all mages delve heavily into making constructs and artifacts... For some it's really tiring.. for me not so much. At the same time large amount of evocation without my gadgets is tiring to me... Just seems my mind processes things a wee bit different..." She then taps her chin and smiles 'Oh and I've a few rings and such that help with that aura of mine and keeps me from destroying modern electronics."

Kae lifts her arm and tugs a bracelet free, this one having a large blue gem... "Look at this with archaic senses... It gathers and stores the eccess magic that leaches off me when I'm out and about or when I'm casting spells.. I can also use the magic this thing gathers and save my self a lot of trouble. It has the double affect of keeping me from destroying technology." Kae umms... "Oh I've also been working on ways for me to use my magical tech to interface with normal tech, send programs, even charms and such through media such as Email..."

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden nods, "Not my area of expertise to be sure. Mostly I just tend to blow shit up. Sometimes I even do that on purpose." He grins, leaning back in his chair and sipping at his coffee. "Actually I am pretty damned good at Thaumaturgy if I do say so myself. Evocation is...sketchy. I use a lot of focuses for that type of run and gun work."

Kaelyn Silverleaf has posed:
Kae ooh's, and fetches a brass card from one of her pockets and hands it to Harry. "Only hand these out to magicking communities and all. If you need special stock and such, this lets the wards know it's ok for you to go into the back.. I've got a librum back there, a major circle and 3 smaller circles as well as board tables and a ton of protective wards... I just ask that if you guys use any reagents there that they are paid for or replaced." Kae says with a smile.. "Also if you need foci, or artifacts, I make a whole host of one shot artifacts, potions, and foci too..." she puts her bracelet back on her wrist, and then the three girls wander over. Kae motions to them. "Harry, that is Wendy.." She motions to the Blonde who bows. "My Apprentice, the other two are Journeymen here learning, the twins, Tina and Tanya... They're learning here and going to college." she says as she motions to the girls... "If you should need to use the facilities here, one of them can help you find things. If you need more information, My familiar, Poe can help too... So can Hoot..." she motions to the little dragon... "Hoot's umm Fanhuil's less hyperactive companion, and quite intellectual." She says cheerfully.. "You are more than welcome to bounce ideas off of them, or me if you need the help... Though, I imagine you have a lot of this stuff stored up and all, still I find that sometimes using other people's stuff can be helpful in coming at a problem from a different angle."

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden nods quietly, taking the card and slipping it into one of the pockets of his duster before reaching up and rubbing at his chin. "I tend to make my own foci, and I have my own lab back in Gotham with a circle, but I will keep this in mind if I ever need to use something in a pinch and I am closer to here than there. In those instances I tend to just chalk myself up one, since I am usually running for my life at the time and getting someplace with a embedded circle isn't feasible, but I will keep it in mind."

As the three women are introduced, he nods to each in turn and smiles politely before looking back to Kae. "I don't have much with me, since this was supposed to be a night out without work, but I do have my bracelet..." he shakes out his left arm, and a circlet of silver with little brass medieval type shields falls from under his sleeve, "...as well as my rings." He shows his right hand, and each finger has a ring made of three intertwining braids of silver. "One is defense, one is offense. The duster also is enchanted with protective spells and has saved my ass more than once."

Kaelyn Silverleaf has posed:
Kae laughs and nods "I think we all have our little artifacts trinkets and doodads, I'm as bad as many, or maybe worse as I'm constantly making new ones to try out." Kae says and tilts her head curiously "Sooo anyhow Im knew around here, anything I should know?" Kae asks curiously "Other than approving my store, I havn't gotten much information from the magical council and all.

Harry Dresden has posed:
"Honestly, I don't know. I don't usually make it this way very often. I tend to stick closer to Gotham, and only venture up this way when I need something from the other magic shop in town. Something tells me the council that governs you isn't the same one that I answer to, since I can't see them letting anyone have more than one apprentice. They are...well, assholes is the best word I got for them."

Kaelyn Silverleaf has posed:
Kae ooh's and nods slowly, then motions to Tanya and Tina "Journeymen, not apprentices. They're here to practice, learn a little from me yes, but practice in general.." She says and grins a bit... "I worked under mages before I got out of the whole journeyman phase, they're doing the same..." She says cheerfully... "Wendy on the other hand is my lone apprentice.. She does well too, well so do the twins... To be honest, it would be incredibly difficult for me to run this place without em."

Harry Dresden has posed:
Rolling his shoulder in a shrug, Harry says.. "Same difference. For my 'group' you are an apprentice until you are a full wizard. There isn't an in-between. Once you are deemed worthy, you are worthy. As I said...assholes. I don't have very fond things to say about them. We have history."

Kaelyn Silverleaf has posed:
Kae oooh's and nods slowly "Well I guess there are multiple different councels involving magi and all? I assume the one headed up by the Sorcerer Supreme is different than the one you are familiar with?" asks the woman curiously. She grabs her self another drink and peers at Harry curiously "Want a refill?" She asks curiously getting kind of a 'look' from Wendy... Kae then shrugs "We've done well this week, I don't think giving a little coffee.." Wendy interrupts "And a magitech phone..." Kae blinks and shrugs "We can't make em work if we don't test them with folks other than our selves... Besides if it doesn't explode with him using it, then I know we're onto something." Kae says and grins a bit, Wendy sighs "Touche... " Kae then grins back at Harry "She's got a better mind for business than I do... Im normally into my artificing rather heavily or doing pet projects..."

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden glances between Kae and Wendy and back and shrugs slightly as he takes another sip from his coffee, "Uh, no. I'm good, but thank you for the offer. Besides, knowing Karrin she will expense it to the GCPD as a consultant fee anyway, since she was called away for work." He shrugs, "As for the council, I would have to say so. I've met Strange once, and he mentioned something about going to his sanctum, but I hadn't heard from him since so I guess I didn't pass whatever test he was giving me."

Kaelyn Silverleaf has posed:
Kae peers curiously and grins "That or he got so engrossed with things that he just flat forgot. The dude is awefully darned busy." Kae suggests... "Anyhow, soo, you've worked a lot in Gotham then... I've got a it of a quandary there in Gotham this being that I'm trying to track someone who'd been kidnapped. One of the Robins... Anyhow he was caught by this big ninja-looking fellow and I've found a place on the waterfront that could quite possibly be where he's held. I don't know. Anyhow, I've sent in some of my automata and used them to relay what they see to my phone, but whoever's there has some kind of help in that they have something there keepin gthe automata from sending messages back to me. The one I sent in the furthest came back with damage directly to its enchantments." she says and rubs the back of her neck.. "Either way, this is something of an eye opener and might need be looked at, however I don't want to go in alone, and, when I talked to the Titans one was keen on keeping me out of it, but since the boy was kinda kidnapped while I was trying to help em, I figure I should probably do something to put things right."

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden arches a brow. "You mean one of the Bat's Robins? How many does he have?" Harry's tone take a bit of a harsher edge when he starts to talk about Batman. "Man, if it isn't one thing in that damn own it is another. First elder demons and supernatural drugs, now kidnapped superheroes. Doesn't the Bat have his own people to look into that sort of thing?" Harry sighs, reaching up and rubbing at the back of his neck. "He and I...we have never really gotten along all that well. The few times I met him haven't been...pleasant. Still, that doesn't mean I would help his boy wonder, or whatever he is called. Where?"

Kaelyn Silverleaf has posed:
Kae umms "The waterfront." she says and shrugs "Mostly looking for advise here, I intend to help, I don't like letting people get away with nearly blowing me up or shooting at me, then grabbing a teenager and all..." She says and shrugs "Was born'n raised in Texas, we don't take kindly to folks pulling that crap." she says, yup the girl has a bit of an honor code and all, she's showing it... "Anyhow there's some bad folk on that pier, if they don't have the boy they know who does." Kae says with a bit of a sigh.

Harry Dresden has posed:
"The waterfront is a big place. Lots of warehouses and other building that line it. Do you have anything of his to be able to track him by? I could whip up a tracking spell pretty damn quick." Harry says with a shrug. "Or at the very least, I could likely show you how to do one. I can also try and get word to the Bat, if you wanted. I know people that seem to be able to contact him."

Kaelyn Silverleaf has posed:
Kae oooh's "Yah, I tried to use a tracking spell, it got me to an area. I used my automata to narrow it down.." Kae looks around then takes a cloth of one of the tables, it's got a chalkboard type surface. She then tugs some chalk out of one of her pockets and begins drawing the area... she's actually pretty god... Eventually she has the area drawn and motions "This is it, what got me is that while there were guards everywhere else on the front, there were none here... I didn't even want to try and go through the gates till I had enough with me to help me get anything done.." She says.

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden looks down at the drawing, rubbing at the back of his neck in a somewhat nervous tick. "Yeah, I know that area. I had to rescue some dogs by the dock near there. Not a good area, not a good area at all. What kind of help were you wanting? My girlfriend is a cop, I can call her and we can get GCPD on this easy enough. If you want my help, I can help, but I don't have any of the things I would want to take with me. If you want the Bat...I can see what I can do to facilitate that. If it is advice you want...i'd advise contacting the Bat. Sounds like you have connections in order to get that done, one way or another. If I know anything about him, he likes o do things his way and nobody else."

Kaelyn Silverleaf has posed:
Kae nods "Well judging by how prepared these guys are, a bunch of police show up and I think the boy wonder is a gonner. Least if non-police show up there's some doubt... But whoever goes in has to be stealthy, probably know something of magic and can fight their way out or in if need be and do such quickly." Kae says and sighs... "If you want to help, I've got lots of one-shot items we can take with us. It'll cost me a pretty penny that's fine. Also contacting the Bat might be a good idea. I've tried the Titans but they kind of want to go it their own, or at least the robin that is there wants to... He's pretty gruff, and if he's like his teacher then well I imagine that fellow's pretty gruff too, but I'm hoping an adult can see the use of having help go in with them ya know?"

Harry Dresden has posed:
"Well, I can tell you right off the bat that me and stealth are not bosom buddies. Buildings tend to burn to the ground when I get involved. I may have mentioned before that I am not subtle in the slightest." Harry says with a little bit of a chuckle. "As for the Bat...well, I can't promise anything. I can see whatI can do about seeing word to him, but I can't promise he will get it, or if he does he will respond to it. For all I know he may already know and have gotten the kid out. Seems his style."

Kaelyn Silverleaf has posed:
Kae hmms and tilts her head curiously... "Well, I am thinking you, myself, if I can get the Titans in on this and at least talk to the Bat, all of us together should be able to assure the kid's safe rescue... " She then grins a bit at Harry "I'm not the most stealthy person there is. But if I can get within eyesite of the boy, or get one of my automata to touch him, I can put a ward on him strong enough to stop a tank bombardment that should last long enough for us to get to him. The problem I have is this interfearance..." She says and sighs...

Kae then rubs the back of her neck.. "Soo I guess I can send my info to the Titans, I have about 30 insect automata surrounding the area in question, to watch and stuff, they can look beyond too if need be." She says and ummms... "THat should gather us some info... but I dunno how long till these guys find one of my little critters..."

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden says, "If they are the little things like you made here? I don't think that will be a worry. If I didn't know any better, I would have just thought it was a bug and nothing more." Harry says with a shrug. "I'll see what I can do about rousing the Bat. At worse I am sure if I head up to a rooftop in Gotham and scream his name a few times he will likely show up. It's not like summoning a demon...it's probably harder and more dangerous." He smirks, lifting the coffee to his lips and finishing it off. He reaches into his pocket and fishes out a business card, slipping it onto the table. "Here, in case you need to get a hold of me.""

Kaelyn Silverleaf has posed:
Kae nodnods. "Ya also have that phone I handed you. I hope it works.. Oh and you can recharge it by channeling a little magic into it too, but since I'm not a walking EMP I try to use the local grid as much as I can to save my reserves for well... making more fun gadgets." She says with a grin, then she umms "There anything else you might need? I imagine I can make you a gadget that will put a bat-emblem into the air if you want..." She says with a grin and a tilt of her head.

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden laughs, "If I want to do that, I can probably just have Karrin walk upstairs at her office and flip a switch. Or I can just draw one in lighter fluid on a rooftop and light it up. I think I will be able to get his attention on way or another."

Kaelyn Silverleaf has posed:
And in an attempt to be funny, the redhead grins and sticks out her tongue "Well there is that, but whree's the fun?" She asks with a smirk, she also sets about packaging up the beignets that were made and not eaten... Once she gets those boxed she puts them in a bag and sets them on Harry's table... "She ordered em, may as well let her enjoy em." Kae says with a bit of a grin.

Harry Dresden has posed:
Harry Dresden nods with a grin, standing up to his full 6'9" height and lifting the bag of beignets from the table. "Thanks. I 'll make sure she gets them. Sounded like from that call she is going to need them later." He takes the little wooden box an slides it into the bag as well. "I'll get in touch with you as soon as I have any information."

Kaelyn Silverleaf has posed:
Kae nods and grins "Come back when you can. It's nice having folks who genuinely know about the art visit. Most of the time it's yer usual wiccans yer new age folks, etcetera." She says and moves to door to open it for Harry.. .And it's not often Kae feels outright short but right now she does.
