Synopsis: Summary needed
Cast of Characters: Jack Burton, Thor, Black Knight, Leah, Kaelyn Silverleaf, 1392

Jack Burton has posed:
It's a late night in Luke's bar, and the place is about half full.

Leaning up against the bar top, a man with a glorious mullet in a tank top and jeans tosses back a shot. He sighs, satisfied, and slams the glass back down. "...and then /I/ said, lady, that ain't no capybara!"

The man standing next to him turns away, a grimace of annoyance on his face.

"Well, fine then," the mulleted man says. "Some people got no sense of a good story. At least, that's what ol' Jack Burton always says. He says: 'some people got no sense of a good story,' you know?" the man asks to the patron seated on his opposing side.

That woman holds up a middle finger in the mulleted man's face.

Thor has posed:
Thor has visited this bar before. The first time, there were ninjas. It was then that he decided that it was a very fun place! The God of Thunder, like the last time, is not dressed as such, but in some approximation of human garb. The 'disguise' tends to hold up for a good minute or two, generally. Like last time, it was about that long before he had Mjolnir back in hand and was smashing stuff. Because, you know, ninjas.

"There were easily twenty or thirty of them," he offers to the man in his company, he and his fellow Avenger clearly out for a bit of relaxation among their various heroic deeds. "Bandits or ruffians of some sort. I believe I heard people call them 'ninjas.' They had a foolish look about them, to be sure! In any case, a man had just at that moment challenged me to a contest of drink, right as they appeared. As I am not one to shy from any contest with man or beast, I fought them one-handed and continued the drinking contest!"

All of this said, they make their way inside, and he immediately turns to... well, whoever is gathered, and greets them in a comically exaggerated, "Hail and well met, good friends! Kind barkeep, prepare for us several pitchers of thine finest ale."

Black Knight has posed:
Next to most of the other peole in New York, Dane Whitman would be a good sized fellow. At 6 feet tall, with a well-muscled physique, he would be impressive. His companion though, well, he dwarfs Dane. Immense. Golden-haired, built like he is a professional body builder, the erstwhile thunder god makes Dane Whitman all but forgettable. Which tonight? That is a great plan.
"Ninja." Dane agrees. "The hand? Ran into some in Madri--" Then the several pitchers of ale? Dane starts to smile. Welcome home. He pulls out his card, "And run the tab with my my card." he tells the bartender as he walks towards the bar to make sure the guy knows they are not just messing with him. Dane points at the girl in the pink pants. "And buy her a cocktail." he adds. It was payday the other day, and Dane is going to actually enjoy himself for a change.

Leah has posed:
Leah, handmaiden of Hel, has been in haste, but not exactly to come here. She has had many errands, which is why when she is disgorged from a green rift in the cosmological bounds of the nine realms into a nondescript alleyway, she leans against the brick and just... Breathes, for a moment.

Ah, Midgard: Never change, she thinks, pressing a hankerchief to her nose and crossing the street into the bar from whence comes the booming voice of --

THOR!

Well, there he is, Leah thinks as she makes it into the door. (She, too, is tall, although less flashy than many.) Tilting her head down she slides behind Aquaria, and so it may be a matter of mild surprise to the Thunderer when Leah just sort of steps from behind a table full of people watching the game to address him.

"Thunderer, I bear tidings," she tells Thor, staring right at him. The hankerchief had come off her nose. "They are brief." Leah's eyes then track to Dane, perhaps detecting someone with an open tab - a great sorcery indeed.

Kaelyn Silverleaf has posed:
It's her first visit to this bar? she's not run into Ninjas here and all, but well heard lots of interesting things about it.. As the redhead enters she pauses inside the door, blinking curiously as she notices someone she saw once before? It was the fellow at the galla that kinda lightninged in and dropped off a chest and zipped out. It doesn't take Kae long to realize this is Thor...

The woman grins brightly and she glances around again curiously, the Artificer Mage now starting to make her way to the bar, that mane of firey red hair flowing along behind her as the curvy young woman sashays her way to get her self a drink... As she gets there she glances over the selection and grins "The coffee porter please." She says, motioning to the menu, before then occupying a stool and looking around curiously.

On the redhead's shoulder is a metallic looking animal, a tiny catsized dragon it seems? Or maybe it's not an animal? It has an odd look somewhere between natural and artificial, the scales seemingly made of brass and nickle. The eyes appear to be alive purple gemstones of a sort, but there is definately a living presence there, the thing seems to move like it's alive. Kae glances to her shoulder then her backpack as it climbs fully up on the woman's shoulder and she sighs.. "Yer encourageable Fanhuil..." She next orders some barmix.

Jack Burton has posed:
As a number of new customers arrive, Jack Burton glances over his shoulder. "Some people're always exaggeratin' their--"

He stops suddenly as the order goes out for ale.

"Well, now, blondie, that's a horse of a different color. And, like mighty Miss Liberty, these colors don't run," the man says, pushing himself off the bar to approach Thor & company.

"Jack Burton's the name, big fella." Jack looks at Dane. "Fellas." He clears his throat. "Couldn't help but hear you all come in and make a big show. Sounds like a celebration. And if there's one thing I can celebrate, it's enjoyin' some cold brewskies with interestin' people."

Jack grins and puts his hands on his hips. "And what could be more interestin' in this world we live in than a red-blooded American trucker? At your service," he says with a nod, although Leah's words give him pause. "Hey, the more the merrier, right?" he finally adds with a chuckle and a clap of his hands.

Thor has posed:
"Ah! Verily, I recall that someone did refer to them by such an epithet. Thou hast done battle with them also? I admit, they were not the most fearsome of foes I have encountered, as is usually the case with sneak-thieves, thugs, and other such dishonorable sorts. But in numbers, they seemed at least a passing nuissance. Yet the whole of the bar did rise up against them, or near enough, and grand battle was had, the lot of them defeated or sent scurrying into the night."

Thor's interest with this former foe, of course, is a passing thing, and they are like enough to be forgotten as the drinks arrive. Such is always the case, as many of Midgard's lesser troubles. He, Thor, always has his eyes on grander things. Or on the drinks in front of him. In this case, it's that one.

There are also locals to meet!

"Hail and well met, red-blooded Jack Burton, driver of trucks. I am Thor Odinson, God of Thunder." Yep. The disguises are really just for not getting mobbed as he walks around. "Thou art most welcome to join us in drink and sharing of tales. Please, be welcome." A broad sweeping gesture.

Yet his attention is further diverted as someone addresses him in somewhat more familiar attention. He turns back (briefly noting Kaelyn and her odd pet) but focusing on Leah's voice. "Lady Leah. Thine presence here is unexpected, but not unwelcome. Dost thou bring some message from thine mistress?"

Black Knight has posed:
Giving information to the bartender, Dane leaves the card. It's a debit card from a local bank he just drops funds into for this sort of thing. Been idle for a year or so. Shaking his head. 'A couple of extra mugs too." beer is meant to be shared. Old habits die hard, and rules of hospitality are echoing in Dane's head. He did not think that a bar would remind him of the crusades, but there you go. His smile never wavers, there were happy times back then too. Dane brings 5 pitches over on a huge tray with several mugs. "Just take the pitcher, big man." he tells his friend. He offers Jack Burton a handshake. "Dane." he introduces himself. "I'm a science nerd, work with the big man." Not a lie in the slightest. Dane moves to seat himself comfortably, kicking out a chair for Jack. "Sit. Have a beer or three. We are enjoying my gainful employment."

Kaelyn Silverleaf has posed:
Kae really doesn't know anyone here. Still though, she's now got her porter and is watching each person in turn. Meanwhile, the tiny dragon-construct pet is now chowing down on chexmix... Kae peers at the little creature and taps it on the head briefly to get its attention. The little creature then chirps and jumps up on her shoulder, before Kae grabs the bowl and starts to move near the grouping of people.

One could definately say, curiosity has the woman right now as she pauses near everyone, then recognizes Jack... Kae then grins "Hey, Mr Burton... Dunno if you remember me or not, we met at a Chinese place, you kind of ran into a waiter there.." she says and then turns to Thor and offers a nod/bow to the man "Hallo, I'm Kaelyn, Kaelyn Silverleaf." she says and smiles a bit.. "I saw you at the Enchantment Under the Sea Galla, Pleasure seeing you again today." she adds and grins a bit.

The little dragon now looks at Dane curiously, chirping and tilting its head fully sideways.

Leah has posed:
Leah's attention turns to Jack for a moment. "Indeed," she tells him.

Then to the god of thunder. "Aye," she states. "There are mortals with strange weapons of great power afoot in Midgard. They may sell such to bandits and smugglers. The weapons come from a place unknown. Beware of strange portals that speak with the sound of cannon."

"May I be seated, sir," Leah then concludes, before shifting a little so that Kaelyn can address Jack properly. "Good evening to you, Danesman." She turns her head to see Kaelyn's dragon dead on. For a moment her head tilts to match its alignment. But only a moment.

Jack Burton has posed:
"Mister," Jack says to Dane with a raised eyebrow, "where I'm from, that ain't the kinda thing a man brags about. But, even so, what do your nerd powers say about odds? Like, say, the odds that ol' Jack Burton can drink you and your partner there under the table?"

Just then, Kaelyn speaks up, and Jack's bravado falters a bit. "I, uh, hey, lady, I swear, I didn't steal your fortune cookie. I've given up the Chinese dessert game ever since I tasted something called a 'six demon bag'..."

Jack coughs and shakes his head. "Still, if you want in on this wager, I'm happy to put up or shut up against whatever you got, too."

Black Knight has posed:
"How about you just drink my nerd beer and enjoy it?" Dane says with a warm smile. He nods to Leah and peers back at the dragon, his mouth making a small sort of gesture of displeasure. His fingers twitch for a moment on his right hand, but he sits and pours himself a big beer. "Do you drink?" he asks Kaelyn, eyeballing that dragon thing suspiciously. "Doe sit? Join us?" he nods at Jack. "And grab a pitcher, friend. There need not be any wagers. beer, you see, is meant to be shared. It is a social lubricant. A lowerer of inhibitions, and one of the hallmarks of civilization."

Thor has posed:
Though he is surrounded by friends and ample drink, Leah's words do hold Thor's attention from those obvious distractions. It is proof of the seriousness of the whole thing! "Many times have trinkets from realms beyond come to Midgard, whether by careless whim of fate or more diabolical design. And often do they cause great strife and chaos, for nothing inspires the ingenuity of man like a glimpse of the worlds beyond his own." That same sense of gravity is evident in the man's tone. "Even the toys of gods can fell nations of man."

With such dire ponderings under way, he nonetheless offers the messanger-woman a smile. "I thank thee for the warning, and shall investigate these happenings. Though it is not mine, I have sworn oaths to defend this realm, and shall not see undue meddling go unchallenged, if such a thing is at work."

With this serious talk, he turns smiles toward the others. "At the Sea-King's ball? Ah, yes. I am sorry that I could not stay longer, for it seemed a worthy celebration indeed," he tells Kaelyn. Then, somewhat abruptly: "Thine pet is most usual. Thou art a sorceress?" While he's oblivious sometimes... the dragon sort of gives it away.

Then, glancing between Dane and Jack, he offers, "Mine companion Dane often speaks humbly, for it is his way. But he is a great warrior also. That he does not brag of his feats does not mean they are in any way lacking, nor that he is beneath any challenge that he might face!" Basically, he's happy to brag for his friend if he won't do it for himself!

Leah has posed:
Leah dips into a curtsey at the words of Thor. She is a little slower to rise. "Aye." She leaves out the implicit part of 'we didn't do this,' but then, these things retain their shade of understanding.

"What is this 'nerd' beer you speak of?" she says to Dane, more quietly, once she's gotten fully back up.

Kaelyn Silverleaf has posed:
Kae nods "Ya you could call me that." She motions to the little creature "This is Fanhuil, probably my best messup." she says with a slight smile... "Somehow ended up with a life-force in one of my constructs.. Spell shouldn't have done it but well here he is... Tis good though, I find my self enjoying him greatly."

Kae then grins a bit and does sit at the table, holding up her pint of porter... Next the tiny dragon hops down onto the table and goes back to peering at Leah curiously, it's head now tilts the other way, the little creature's long neck allowing it to turn its head fully sideways. Kae then grins at Thor "I'm what some call an Artificer.. Yes I'm a mage, but my specialty is making magical items, artifacts, crafting constructs, you name it." she says and shrugs a bit before she takes a pull on her porter.

"Soo! What flavor of nerd beer is this?" she asks curiously, the girl understanding what he's saying but deciding to join in on the questioning... "I assume it makes one more intelligent for the taking? Or maybe drinking it grants more intelligence?" she says and smiles slightly...

Jack Burton has posed:
Narrowing his eyes slightly, Jack inhales deeply through his nose. "Well, pal, I suppose I could. But this beer better not /make/ me nerdy. Last thing I want is to start figuring out statistics in the middle of watchin' a ball game. That'd really take the fun out of it."

Still, Jack reaches for a pitcher. "Shame you boys aren't the type to go toe-to-toe for the title o' 'hardest drinker in Luke's Bar.' But I guess men are just made harder on the open road." The man's voice is full of ... something ... but he still sizes up Dane and Thor with eyes a bit wider than might be suggested by confidence. Jack puffs his chest out slightly, too.

"With any luck, it'll be beer that puts hair on your chest and cause belches so profound that you'll think your soul tried to escape," Jack says to Kaelyn.

Black Knight has posed:
"It is beer flavored beer." Dane responds with a warm laugh. "It will do the opposite, I am sure. Enough of this is all but guaranteed to make a moron out of the imbiber." Dane winks. He agrees with Jack Burton. "Yeah. I'm a physicist. I make energy stuff and splice genes and all that. Nothing particularly manly or action driven. Was that your truck out back?" He takes a long swallow of his beer, remembers his manners, and pours mugs for the ladies.
"I am sorry. I should have done that a bit faster!" He seems genuinely apologetic. "Oh, uhm, I am Dane." He might be the only one at the table who is hiding who he might be, but really. He seems interested in the truck. "The stacks looked custom?" He asks Jack with a warm smile.

Thor has posed:
That's just Thor for you! Although his extended Asgardian family contains many of his greatest foes, he holds relatively few grudges and tends toward a general spirit of friendly civility at the very *worst.* So there are no assumptions of guilt to be found. Merely a desire to get to the bottom of things. But not tonight, as there are drinks to be consumed!

And one is, the Thunder god downing a large glass with impressive haste. "There are many sorcerers of great talent in mine own realm of Midgard," he tells Kaelyn. "And makers of great wonders, 'artificers' to take thine term." Indeed, that seems to touch upon his conversation with Leah. "And beasts such as thine own as well, albeit of flesh and scale and sometimes of greater size!" He did mention fighting a dragon to pick up a tribute for Arthur at his event. Who knows how exactly serious he was about that!

"I know not the many brews of recent days," he admits of the drinks. "Humans have grown great in ingenuity. I have been told people called 'the Hipsters' are a great fan of bitter brews, and brew them with great craft and care."

However, on catching Jack's challenge, he gives a laugh. "I will meet *any* challenge friend, and one of drink without hesitation. But I warn thee, mine body is not like yours. Mine friend Dane might be a fair match, but I am far beyond thee. Still," and he makes a gesture at the bartop and whatever drink is sitting there. A 'bring it' motion, perhaps!

Leah has posed:
"I understand not your 'nerd,'" Leah says, although when a mug is poured for her she takes it with a more quiet, "Thank you," and raises it to her lips. She holds it with both hands.

Leah takes a healthy sip.

No, a larger one.

No, she's about halfway through - yes; it seems she is going to finish the entire thing in a single long and subdued pull.

Leah sets the mug down. "Hm," she says. "Hoppy." After this she brings a hand loosely curled to her mouth, perhaps to cover the inevitable side effects of slamming an entire beer.

Kaelyn Silverleaf has posed:
Kae grins and nods "Am quite sure of it..." She says and then holds up her porter "I like this stuff, not super bitter, good smooth flavor, and doesn't linger over much." she says and drnks more of the really black beer... "Am a big fan of the darker brews." She looks to Jack now curiously and tilts her head curiously, then glances to Thor... "Am thinking Mr Burton there is wanting to challenge you to a drinking contest?" She says and rubs the back of her neck.
% Kae then orders a pitcher of the porter and when it arrives pours her self another pint... MEanwhile, Fan is now eating the bowl of chexmix Kae had ordered, the little construct dragon chirping happily as it gets more snacks.. Kae just sighs "He's going to be lke mega hyper here before long..." she mutters and glances to the others...

Jack Burton has posed:
"Yeah, that's my baby out back, all right," Jack says with a toothy grin. "The Pork Chop Express's seen some serious...well, let's just say that it'd keep your family doctor up at night. And there's enough horsepower to make sure everyone in a two-mile radius can hear it in action, too."

He laughs and slaps his thigh. "Speakin' of action, why don't we--"

Jack's attention is suddenly fully focused on Leah's draught. "God bless America. Far be it from me to trail too far. Chin-chin!" he cries, and attempts to chug his own beer.

At least half of it spills down his chin and neck before staining his tank top. Even so, Jack attempts to let out a burp. The sound he makes is not very impressive, and the man looks down at his chest. "Welp," he says with a sigh and a shrug, "it ain't in the glass any more, now, is it?"

Black Knight has posed:
Pushing a pitcher to Jack and Thor, both, Dane stands up and moves to the bar to buy two more pitchers. He comes back and puts those down as well. He notes, to leah. "It's a bear. Sing it." He encourages her. He moves to pour her another beer unless she shoes not. His grin is warm, and he seems content. He then takes a long drink of his own beer.

Thor has posed:
"Well done, fair lady," Thor says of Leah's demonstration, watching the whole spectacle with a certain appreciativeness. A woman who can match in drink is a welcome sight!

As for his own prior boast, Thor is happy to drink with any man, woman, or (suitably appendaged) beast. On the tail end of downing his first mug, he reaches for one of the pitchers that Dane offers him. Except, he doesn't bother refilling his cup, he just takes the pitcher.

"Barkeep, we shall require plenty more," he warns whatever poor soul is working, and then proceeds to drain the pitcher in a fashion not disimilar to the manner in which Leah disposed of her drink. This is, perhaps, a grand show of force, a demonstration of prowess such that Jack knows what exactly he is up against.

Or, as it turns out, it may be the basis for a counter challenge: "I shall drink one of these for every man-sized flaggon thou shall consume," he offers. "Or mostly-so!" is added with a grin and a vague chest-ward gesture, since the other man seems a somewhat sloppier drinker.

Leah has posed:
Leah accepts more beer. "I do not understand your metaphor," she says, her eyebrows lifting slightly at Dane. To Jack, she looks, considers, and says: "It isn't."

She doesn't kill THIS one but she does take a deep drink from it, seeming to be no longer in haste. She may be hoping Thor doesn't drink key facts out of his head. That is quite a challenge.

To Kaelyn she speaks. "Why does it do that? Did you not make it so?"

Kaelyn Silverleaf has posed:
Kae watches Thor down a pitcher, then looks to Jack and in her head, with what she kinda knows or has studied about folks, she wonders just when Jack ends up passng out.. Kae then smiles at Leah... "Umm Fanhuil, though being a construct is a living creature... He's gotten to where he now eats to sustain his energy levels and all... He can digest food etc... Luckily I don't have the other issues with a cat-sized dragon eating tons of food." she says with a slight wink... "He can eat just about anything, junk food, meat, veggies, the occasonal small gemstone... Sometimes he even chows down on tasty dirt... It's kind of wierd, but well he can be loads of fun." she says and hmms, before pulling a little laser pointer from her pocket..

"Wanna see what I mean?" she says with a grin and without waiting turns on the laser pointer, moving the little red dot over near the bowl... It takes a few moments, and then suddenly the little amethyst eyes of the construct dragon spot the dot. Fan freezes, and twitches a bit, it's tail starting to slowly lash as it flares its wings slight. Then suddenly it jumps at the dot as a cat might. Kae turns off the dot and the little dragon chirps, now looking at is hands or forelimbs before lifting one hand while closing one eye to check and see if it caught the dot... When it raises it's other hand, Kae turns the laser back on and moves it a couple feet...

Jack Burton has posed:
Refilling his mug, Jack hesitates drinking as he watches both Leah and Thor easily drain--fully or mostly--their own glasses.

"You know," he says, clearly stalling for time, "some might accuse you folks of bein' genetically engineered to down cold ones. Not me, though," Jack continues. "Me, I'm just the kinda guy who looks forward to an evenin' of thirst-quenching challenge."

He begins to drink, albeit at a pace much slower than his new companions. More sloshes down onto his shirt. He gasps for breath halfway through and shakes his head. "Musta caught an air bubble," Jack mumbles, avoiding eye contact with anyone.

Black Knight has posed:
"Of course." Dane assures Jack. He is still on his first. Given the set of his shoulders and his general mien, he is not as big a drinker as his friend. But his smile shows he gains the same level of contentment. He shakes his head. 'You invented a lasr-catching flying lizard robot." Dane wrinkles his nose. "But what purpose does it serve? My barn cat can do that. It is also soft and furry and purrs when i pet her." he takes another swallow from his beet. Imminently practical. "Things should serve a purpose." Spoken like a true engineer. "A tangible, real, genuine point to them. Otherwise, what have you done? Now, if you did it to further your knowledge, I can dig that. but.." He's an engineer. He just doesn't understand the point.

Thor has posed:
"I did warn thee, friend, that 'twould be no easy matter facing me in such a challenge," Thor points out, with an over-wide grin. "And thou art not far from the truth. To say 'engineered' would be false, but I am born to great strength of body, of stamina ceaseless by any standard of mortal man. Mine usual companions in drink and song are the other gods of Asgard, and I have defeated trolls and giants in contests such as this. It is yet my honor to meet any in challenge, but 'tis no stain against thee to be bested."

Thor 'keeps' pace, in the sense that he drinks from his full pitcher at a similar proportional speed to Jack. Mostly, he's an exceedingly good sport about it. Though no mortal could best him in such, those who try are surely worthy of a certain respect!

A glance is spared between Dane and Kaelyn. "Is there not something in the doing? She has larbored to create something fascinating. And if this creature, strange though it may be, is a good companion to her, then her efforts have born fruit."

At another spare moment between gulps, he wonders of Leah, "Have thee any other news of interest from Asgard? What brings you thence, beyond heralding such news?"

Leah has posed:
Leah considers Kaelyn, listening to her explanations and taking down about a third of the beer as she occasionally nods slightly. She doesn't blink, but she nods. Her eyes follow the miniature dragon as it follows the red dot of light. "I was unclear," she says to Kaelyn. "You said it will become 'hyper' if it should eat too much. Why?"

Open-ended! After this she considers Jack again. "That is not so," she tells him. "I have been working for most of this day and held a great thirst. Even so, we are more robust than your people, upon the average."

Thor asks her a question and she regards him then. "I have little news of Asgard, save rumors that Lorelei has taken another lover. The day must end in 'Y', indeed. There was a small escape from my mistress's halls; I am attending to the matter."

Kaelyn Silverleaf has posed:
Kae oooh's and nods to Leah and smiles "Well he converts food to energy much as you or I do, though in his case maybe more literal... Can you imagine if he gets too much food and converts said food into an excess of energy, it's gotta go some where right? So he starts to run around like crazy play with people things, you name it and he's rather fearless..."

Kae glances to Dane and grins "Sometimes making something for the sheer enjoyment of making it makes it worth while... Besides, as I said, his being alive was an accident... In short, Fanhuil there is a living magical construct... And yah he acts very much lke a cat, minus the mess, and the shed hair."

Jack Burton has posed:
With some effort, Jack finishes his drink and begins pouring another. For a second it seems like some of the drink might resurface, but the trucker manages to suppress it. "You know...I should've waited on a few of those shots before gettin' in on a drinking contest, but here we are. I just...just..."

Jack trails off, eyeing a nearby bowl of peanuts. He leans toward it, wavering. "Shoulda played *urp* my cards right." He looks at Kaelyn's pet. "How many drinks in are we? I think I'm seein' things here." He holds up a hand in front of his face and stares at it. After a moment of contemplation, he shrugs and leans his head back for another chug.

Black Knight has posed:
"I get creating for the joy of creation and the challenge of stretching ones capabilities." Dane admits. "I do not do it often, but that is ai think due to having a few too many tasks in front of me. I can also understand how you do not simply unmake something you have made, in particular if it appears to be alive." Dane admits shis quietly, and then takes a long drink from his beer. "I am just a little paranoid, and I always worry about the motivations of created life. Do not mind me." he waves off his own concerns. He knows he is a wet blanket. He looks at Jack, and smiles a little more. "No shame in letting -the- God of Thunder best you."

Thor has posed:
"Do not bring thyself beyond thine capacity for the drink, good friend," Thor offers as Jack's efforts at keeping pace obviously grow a bit more... belabored. "A man ought know his own limits, as well." Nevermind that Thor is a terrible person to give anyone advice, as a sort of walking exemplar 'Don't do this cool thing that I am totally doing and making look even more awesome.' He takes only small sips now, in keeping. They're still small sips out of a pitcher, though.

But there's a good and hearty laugh at Leah's answer to him. One might wonder precisely why he finds it quite as amusing as he does, given his own tempestuous relationship with the woman in question, but it becomes apparent when he turns toward Dane: "You see, friend Dane? We are both readily scorned. Hers is a most fickle heart, and so thou should not despair in losing it, as weak as thine grasp must surely have been to start."

The group of them are all at the bar, drinking or watching people drink. Thor is using a whole pitcher instead of a mug, because he's Thor.

Ruby Thursday (1392) has posed:
Victoria Reynolds enters the bar with an inquisitive look about her face. She seems to be pocketing a pack of cigarettes in her back pants pocket. There is a devilish smirk that crosses her face briefly as she enters the establishment proper. After a moment she would make her way to the bar and inspect those around her with keen eye. She would take a moment to order herself a drink gazing just pass the edge of her glass as she takes in the room as a whole.

Leah has posed:
"I see," Leah says to Kaelyn. "In the situation you describe, I would shit, I think. But I do not know how your creation is organized."

She looks to Dane and finishes off her beer. "That's wise," she says to him, as the mug is placed down.

"I have errands yet left to me, Thunderer, so I must take my leave. I trust you will act with wisdom in your revels, and that all shall be well," Leah says to Thor then, before moving towards the entranceway. (Once she's well out of arm's reach, she stops moving laterally.)

She opens the door just as Victoria comes in, and holds it for her, on ancient reflex.

Jack Burton has posed:
As he slowly empties his mug--ever so slowly--Jack Burton moves lethargically. He fumbles with putting the glass on the bar top and takes a step toward a nearby table.

"Jus' so we'reclearrr," Jack slurs, "I hadda handicap onmy...score...and kept pace foraminute." He hiccups, turns 180 degrees, and falls backwards onto a chair. Then he leans back further and manages to somehow lie down across the two chairs as though they were components of a makeshift cot.

A minute later and Jack is fast asleep, snoring soundly.

Kaelyn Silverleaf has posed:
Kae grins just slightly and shrugs, the girl now moving the laser dot, and watchng the little construct dragon hop after it and pounce at the little dot. Kae moves it again and well here goes the little dragon once more, chirping as it chases the lttle dot... Seems this makes the little 'creature' quite happy.

Kae grins at Leah "Umm I guess so, still though, ya get an access of sugar or whatever works good on Asguardians and all and you feel overly energetc too right? Also well Fan really does mimic a cat in the way he acts alot... He'll eat, then rest it off, then start running and flying all over the place." Then Leah leaves and shoe notices Victoria curiously before the girl offers a wave to the new person.

Black Knight has posed:
'Winner and still champion." Dane teases Thor. 'But this one has an asterisk, Thunder God. He was well into his cups when we got here." Dane pours his second beer. He eyes the pitchers. Most of them are either empty or getting there. 'we need another, Thor?" Dane is always careful with his drinking, but then, different circumstances. He leans back, his smile remaining on his face. "I will admit. It is a more adorable dragon thing." It is a reluctant sort of statement.
"Not that i see them too much." Uh huh. He shrugs. "I am support staff. I help Mr. Stark in the high energy lab."

Ruby Thursday (1392) has posed:
Victoria Reynolds seems to be pleasantly impressed with the gathered company looking to each individually. She does not hide the fact she is clearly examining every person individually. From the fairy-tale prince, to the clearly robust gentleman of nordic decent, to the rather crude yet attractive trucker, ending on gorgeous woman wearing the gray mid-sleeved shirt. Victoria could not help but smirk in mild bemusement as the clearly drunken trucker flops across two chairs like a wet sack of potatoes. Victoria found herself stifling a chuckle beneath her breath and raises her glass to those still present.

It would seem Victoria's interest is peeked at the mention of Asgardians and Stark. She smiles and takes the moment to offer a subtle wave to the girl with toy Dragon. "Evening miss. Evening all. I see we are having a rather resplendent time. What a marvelous little toy. Is it autominous... or perhaps a sentient ai of sorts." she inquires studying the little beastie.

Black Knight has posed:
It's the glasses that get his attention. Dane looks up, and stares for a moment. He then tilts his head. She old enough for him to be looking at her that way? Dane blushes, and sits back down. "have you met my friend, Thor/" Dane asks the new girl looking at them with a smile. "The God of Thunder, and a genuine hero, and not because of where he comes from, but because of who he is and what he values." Dane lifts his mug to Thor, then drains a healthy portion of it.

Thor has posed:
"Bravely fought, my friend," Thor hails Jack as he gives his final speech. The pitcher-mug is lifted in a salute. "Honor to thee, and thine bold spirit!" If you're going to lose, you may as well lose to Thor. And he glances aside at Dane. "And aye, thou art correct. For what was arrayed against him, this man soldiered on with great fortitude. 'Tis an accomplishment of no small merit." Probably, somewhere at the end of time, there will be a moment where all the heroes gather in Asgard and sing songs recounting every battle and exploit, every challenge, and for this single moment of boldness, Jack may earn his own mention. Or... maybe that isn't a thing. But it definitely seems like it could be a thing, and something to happily dream of, a big hall of mug-swinging, cheering viking-dudes.

Thor indeed gestures for another drink, although with no haste of competition, he continues at a pace less rushed, savoring things a bit. Leah is hailed in her parting, before he looks to Kaelyn with some sort of perplexed expression. "We have no magic sugar, though I suppose all that is within our realm is of a different sort of stuff than that which grows in thine own."

In turn, he greets the newly arrived woman with a raised glass. "Hail and well met, fair maiden. Indeed the eve is most wonderful, as we are well in our cups. Thou art welcome to join us." Dane's introduction earns a broad grin. "My friend Dane ever lauds me, but never himself, yet he is a fine man as well. Do join us."

Kaelyn Silverleaf has posed:
Kae smiles at Victoria and offers a nod. She's messing with a tiny living construct of a dragon, it's movements are less toy-like and more lke a natural creature may make. Eventually Kae lets the lttle creature go back to eating its little bowl of chexmix and takes another pull on her porter "I figured you guys had something along that lines, If'n ya eat or drink too much it makes ya over energetic?" she asks curiously, And eventually the metallic dragon grabs up the bowl of chexmix and while scattering a few tidbits everywhere darts with the bowl into Kae's backpack... Kae winces a bit as the creature litterally runs up her chest around her neck and zips down the hole before Kae sighs... "Well I'm gonna have to bring a bowl back.." she mutters.

Ruby Thursday (1392) has posed:
Victoria Reynolds smiles in a confident yet sultry manner. "No I am afraid not. Not in person;but, by reputation yes. Who in our day an age does not know of the boastful illustrious reputation of one of the worlds mightiest heroes. I am afraid in my line of work the company of heroes is not one I too often get to enjoy." she gracefully sips from her drink offering Dane a wink of the eye. Her gaze then turns to Thor.

"Oh you truly are a word smith are you not Thor. You have a fascinating manner in which you string together your words. It is almost as if a second language. Reminds me of when I read Beowulf in High School, and I mean that in truest of compliment." she stands and moves closer to the gathered party. "I would be most honored to join you all. After all the day has been most taxing and I am in /need/ of some good old fashion fun."

Victoria's gaze returns to the Dragon as it makes it's motions and she purses her lips in contemplation. A finger gliding cross her upper lip as she clearly analyzes what she was witnessing as the woman did not seem to wish to divulge. "Perhaps living circuits with 4th dimensional biometrics... ." she mutters to herself and looks to them all proper once more. "Oh, apologies. Where are my manners. My name is Victoria Reynolds. Wayne tech consultant here on business."

Black Knight has posed:
"Take a seat, Ms. Reynolds. I am Dane Whitman, I work for the Maria Stark foundation. I am a physicist and engineer. I help with some of the science for the Avengers." All of that is so true. He just leaves out the sword swinging, monster slaying, curses, and hand built lightsabers. "Waynetech? You don't look old enough. But please, have a drink?" He moves to grab a mug and empty one of the pitchers into it. He tops it off with another pitcher. He eyes the table and Thor. He holds up two fingers and hands Victoria the mug as he exits the table to get two more pitchers.

Ruby Thursday (1392) has posed:
Victoria Reynolds blinks befuddled by the size of the mug. "Oh my, I am not too much of a drinker; but, perhaps after my mixed drink is gone I will happily sip on this till sated." she offers a pleasant smile to Dane. "However, intelligence and ability are often not bound by age. Especially not with the like of mutants and other extraordinary beings about. I simply just have to work extra hard to maintain my position within the company. Thus, me saying my day has been taxing." she pauses to sip her drink and see if smoking was allowed in the bar. "However, being a science associate for The Avengers must be a dream position. I would love to work under Mr. Stark. You see I fancy myself an engineer so his and Lucious Fox's works are well.... my Mona Lisa's, Guernica's, Starry Nights."

Thor has posed:
"It is the gift of Allspeak," Thor explains when Victoria mentions his particular vernacular. "At times, friends have commented upon mine manner of speech, and why it should seem as an anachronistic version of an earth-tongue from a time not mine own. But the speech of the gods is unniversal. I speak as I wouldst before mine father's court, and it is understood thusly." That is, perhaps, an imperfect explanation, but also the closest he is likely to come.

Kaelyn's theories still find no exact answer, although the Thunderer does seem to ponder them. "It is true that in mine native realm, there are foods and especially, in the spirit of this evening, drinks of great strength by comparison with thine mortal fare. But I would not say it is quite so simple as that. The average Asgardian meal will fill man or god. But a particular... feast may be something grander than that, certainly, and when we brew strong drink, it is of a power inconceivable to any mortal tongue. Such things follow no... easy pattern, however."

The science talk is all rather over his head, of course, but he looks grateful that Dane keeps the supply of drinks up. "It seems you and mine companion Dane have much in common. It wouldst be good for thee both to share more of this, I think!" This is Thor helping. He owes Dane one. Or a couple.

Kaelyn Silverleaf has posed:
Kae looks to Victoria at that point and smiles to her "Oh sorry! Umm noo he's not an A.I. Like you think..> He's a magical construct... I'm a Sorcress, Mage, what have you.. I was making a couple automata just for well for practice, and something went wrong but kind of in a good way. Anyhow, he gained life, in the litteral since... " Kae says and shrugs a bit... "He eats, sleeps, though isn't really capable of procreating I don't think.... I imagine so long as he's not killed he'll just go on living. Whether he gains sentience or not, I havn't a clue... The spells I used to animate him don't really have that in their design." She then grins "But I guess this is what happense when one tries out new magics."

Kae looks to Victoria now curoulsy and asks "That answer your question? Anyhow, if you scan em or examine em, you'll find there's no circuits, no diodes, nothing like that.. I imagine if you were to cut him he'd bleed, the materials that were used to make him have slowly been subsumed and become a more biological version of what they once were. Originally he was produced from brass, and nickle, and had a bunch of gears and springs to animate him. All that's kind of well gradually gone away."

Black Knight has posed:
Returning with two pitchers, Dane shrugs his shoulders. "Do not put them on too much of a pedestal, Ms. Reynolds. Part of their success is infrastructure, assistants, and a bit of luck to go with that immense talent." Dane holds up his left hand. "I am not saying they are not geniuses, but I am saying that a having other people to do the fabricating, testing, and the incremental mprovements that develop more functional devices and technology is a part of the equation." He wrinkles his nose. "Magic, for the record, really sucks to study." He puts a pitcher down in front of Thor. "You do my great honor, friend." He inclines his head. "It is ever the knight's place to serve the prince though." he adds, :Not that I am a a knight. The presumption."

Ruby Thursday (1392) has posed:
Victoria Reynolds chuckles a bit at Thor's manner. "Oh please never change a syllable my fine and talented silver tongue. Your words are like a bards verse on the ear and a welcome change to the incessant jargon of the elitist pricks I find myself having to do battle with." she smirks. "There is always room for good banter." she takes a moment to listen to Thor talk of Asgard and it's revelry. There is a momentary smirk that crosses her lips. "Sounds to me like a wonderful place fore take out." she chuckles

Victoria would then turn to look at Kae, "I see and it does answer my question. But, forgive my possible ignorance. But, in my line of work and postulating theory's of all manner. I have come to the realization magic is often more science then art. You see... circuits and diodes are the rudimentary words we have used to profess our rather base skill at managing and interlocking our world. In my studies I have come to understand the process of linking organic circuits through geometric design. It is rather complex and I prefer not to bore you. But, I have seen functioning artificial intelligence that does in fact bleed. But, chemically they are little more than plastic composites. You see the creation of life is more... a skill that humanity has yet to obtain. This of course means to study a subject as your friend would likely further my research. Though I do not wish to do so as it likely would.... well be morally gray. The types of tests I would need." she lets out a half smile that comes off slightly sinister.

she then turns back to Dane, "I agree on the study of magic whole heartily. It is infuriating. However, perhaps yes I am sheepishly idolizing the creations of inferior minds." she pauses. "I mean, well I mean perhaps with the resources they have acquired I too could be in their position."

Black Knight has posed:
Simply nodding. :Not inferior. i would never say that Tony Stark is inferior to me. He invented the Iron Man armour, the arc reactor. I deal with a lot of photonic constructs. He is making he world a better place. I am just tinkering and inventing and doing assistant work. There is no shame in knowing ones place, and being good at it."

Kaelyn Silverleaf has posed:
Kae looks to Vctoria curiously... "I can hand you a copy of my findings on him. However, I think of Fanhuil as a friend. He's as precious to me as any near and dear friend... Also in some things, I've learned simply, don't question, just accept." She says with a slight smile and Kae then stands "Anyhow, I think it's my time to turn in for the night... I wish you all the best, and it's a pleasure to meet all of you." she says and bows slightly. "Good night."

Thor has posed:
"Thou art no servant, but a friend and companion in drink," Thor insists of Dane. "And a skilled-" and here is the only sign that the Asgardian has at least caught on to the smallest notion of subtelty, to not simply declare aloud something his friend would keep secret, "-worker in the most complicated of crafts. Indeed, this seems the thing shared by thee three, a love for such endeavors and an abundant skill in them. Thou art like the Dwarves of Nidavellir, ceaseless and peerless craftsmen, creating things beyond the imaginings of thine contemporaries." Even if he would generally praise Dane's skill in battle, he holds other talents in regard as well, and surely Tony falls into a like category.

With Kaelyn rising, Thor glances off at some... well, unknown point in space, but perhaps the direction of whatever further task will call to him next. His work is rarely done. "Sadly I too must retire from this. I have enjoyed greatly this time of revelry and merry-making, but other tasks call, such as this matter brought to be my Lady Hela's haindmaid. I shall leave thee in fine company, I think, friend Dane, and speak to thee again soon upon certain matters concerning friend Tony and the rest."

Ruby Thursday (1392) has posed:
Victoria Reynolds stands, "Do wait, if you are sincere in your words here take my card. The email there is a safe email for such findings. I would appreciate it. As much as Magic is the bane of my study. I have a /friend/ that finds it fascinating and often helps me link the two." she looks to Dane. "One's place... I hate that phrase. Though don't mock your research by comparing it to /Starks/ sure he is talented; but, I am sure you are as well."

Kaelyn Silverleaf has posed:
Kae grins a bit and takes the card "Sure, I'll send you a copy of all my research..." She says and turns toward the door "I bid you all good night.." She waves a hand and opens the door. It doesn't open outside really per say, isntead it shows a dimly lit area with a bunch of books and the like briefly, before Kae steps into it. She then smiles and waves "Night folks." before she closes the door. If someone were to open it again, it would open back to the outside all normal like.

Ruby Thursday (1392) has posed:
Victoria Reynolds looks to Thor, "Oh well it was pleasure meeting you. Thor. Perhaps we will meet again." she looks to Kae as she departs and smiles. "Brilliant you are a wonder Kae. Have a good evening." There is a moment where Victoria seems to look to the distance as if running a million and one thoughts through her head. She turns to Dane and Thor. "Perhaps we will see another again and you could show me your research Dane. I would love to get a /closer/ inspection." she lets out a vixenous smile. "And maybe I can help in some way and warrent a meeting with Mr. Stark himself. Just to talk shop mind you. I find the mans manner repulsive."

Black Knight has posed:
Leaning over, Dane accepts the oter card with a small smile. "Place, not station." Then she is smiling that smile and talking about his research. Dane coughs. "Well, maybe if I finish my PhD." He plays coy. "A lot of my work is proprietary, and you are a lovely lady... but I just got this job. I mean to keep it for a long time." He inclines his head. Then he regards Thor. "Let me know if you need my expertise." he runs a hand through his hair. He mentally summons his horse, outside, up on the roof, as he goes to pay the bartab. "Not as bnad as it could have been." He will leave a big tip.

Ruby Thursday (1392) has posed:
Victoria Reynolds says, "Ohh poo, well I can understand one having to keep research a secret. Perhaps I was getting starry eyed at the prospect of... intellectual postulaton with a rather, intriguing gentleman. But, if it's not possible it's not possible. I get it. The Avengers must keep the world safe and all that.""
