Date of Scene: 19 September 2017
Location: Unknown
Synopsis: Summary needed
Cast of Characters: X-Man, 1398

X-Man has posed:
The school is currently in session, classes being taught in the various parts in the mansion, and leaves the backyard empty for the time being. Soon enough there should be a lunch break, which means some of the students will come out to enjoy the weather before it turns too cold. However, for now, the backyard and the surrounding woods brings a sense of peace and serenity that is rarely seen anywhere but outside the hustle of the city.

Flying in from the direction of the lake area is young looking man that appears to be covered in a golden aura that flickers like lightening. He hovers for a few moments, taking in the relatively quiet area as most of the students are in class, and seems to come to some internal decision. As he slowly lands on the grass of the yard, he looks back and forth, his left eye glowing slightly with the same golden light. He starts to make a slow circuit of the different areas, almost as if it's the first time he's seeing anything like it, and a grin works it's way on his features.

Patricia Cain (1398) has posed:
Patricia Cain was sitting at one of the tables in the back of the mansion. The canopy of the umbrella providing Patricia some needed shade as the sun never really agreed with her. On the table sat a brown sack with closing purple pull string. Every now and then she could be seen reaching inside and taking something out eating it idly as she drew. Her sketchpad seemed bulky and hand made with three ring binding and a plethora of different papers and mediums through out. She is currently working on a painting of a man walking through a portal. The area he walked into brilliantly depicted with lush foliage in the foreground and ruinous material in the mid ground.

As the man circled above and glowing like some ethereal being Patricia could not help but look up in a bit of awe. "Not sure why your surprised," she said as a comment to herself. "You are in a school for mutants." She would notice the chair she sat in start to scream out in agony and she sighed standing and adjusting the umbrella over head. She began to draw from this upright position while still munching on her snack of choice. Eventually the man landed after making a few more circuits and she looked his way. Still the un-initiated she did not have any fear of the man. But, she did seem a touch wary none the less calling to him. "Good Afternoon... fly boy."

X-Man has posed:
The sound of the voice didn't seem to surprise him, but with the confident way he's moving about the backyard maybe that isn't a surprise. He does turn his head towards her as she calls out, and he chuckles a little at the nickname "Yeah, I've heard that one before..." and starts walking in her direction. His eyes seem to take in all that the school is, before landing on her just as the light in his eye winks out entirely, "Hey, I'm Nate, I guess you go to the school here?" Perhaps an odd question for someone that just flew right in, and seems a little unfamiliar with the place. "I was kind of curious what this place was about, and figured I'd put it off long enough..." He points back towards the lake area, "...I've got a really close friend that is up by the lake, but she's got other stuff she's doin' right now," He shrugs one shoulder, "so figured I'd come take a quick look myself."

Patricia Cain (1398) has posed:
Patricia Cain blinks a bit. "Well I mean... sure it's odd. But, I mean Im getting use to awkward situations. I mean. Kinda comes with the territory around here." she pauses wondering how much she was allowed to say. She had heard rumors from the other students. Perhaps she better be political about this. "Well this would be Xavier's school for the gifted... so basically a school for freaks and yes I do go here. And I say freak loosely, cause well. Everyone here is pretty cool in their own weird ways."

Patricia sets down her sketch book and pencil and exchanges them for her small brown bag that clangs and clunks as it moves about. "You can call me Patricia, Patty, Pat... whatever. I'll answer to most nicknames tossed my way. So this friend of yours... they a mutant? You a mutant?... or are you a metahuman tech what have you?" she blinks. "Man the world is nuts." she comments under her breath

X-Man has posed:
"Freaks?" Nate asks after a moment, a little confused, and then nods his head slowly. "Ahh, got it. Well, I'd probably say gifted, but I can see how some of the mutations might make people think otherwise." He pulls up a chair to sit across from Patricia, glancing at the sketch book, obviously curious, but deciding that it's her own business. "Yeah, I've heard everyone here is nice to be 'round. Kinda wanted to see for myself first though."

The noises from the bag definitely draw his attention, but again he doesn't ask right away. "Yep," he responds to her questions, "She is.. was.. a teacher here at some point, and now she's got a cabin back that way. Her name's Jubilee." Curious to see if the name rings any bells, before continuing on, "Both of us are Mutants. I've met one or two fo the metahumans..." His grin widens, and adds, "...you have no idea how crazy this World is..."

Patricia Cain (1398) has posed:
Patricia Cain shrugs, "No likely not. I mean, I'm kinda small town compared to some people around the school. And still getting acclimated. Finally don't have to bundle up every time I step out the door." she looks to the chair she sat in and to the chair you sat in. "Apologies if I don't sit down. You don't worry me or anything and it's not to be rude. I just can't sit at the moment." she sighs under her breathe as if hopping that made sense.

Patricia looks around a bit, "If you want the real skinny about the school you likely would have a better time talking to someone not fresh of the plane as it were. I've been here about a month so... lets just say Im getting use to people and the crazy things those people can do. Not that Im much better I suppose." she blinks. "I'm not a bigot mind you... just... not used to it all." she shrugs and eats more of her snack of choice with and audible crunch from inside her mouth.

X-Man has posed:
"Eh?" Nate again looks a little confused, "I mean, I don't mind if ya don't want to sit down..." then he looks over to the chair, and nods his head in better recognition, "..got it. Up to you, but we can fix that..." He telekinetcally moves another chair over near where they are, his left eye taking on that sudden glow again, and he focuses on the chair for a moment. It shimmers underneath his focus, while the actual design of the chair doesn't take, it seems as if the chair itself sinks a bit into the ground. "Hmm, Not sure just how strong you'd need it, but I'm willin' to bet it'll sink into the ground before it breaks."

As the light in his eye starts to disappear, Nate asks, "Oh, you just got here? No, that's perfect. I'd like to hear from someone that is just seein' everything for the first time. How the students and the teachers act.. Jubilee knows a bunch of the folks, and she feels protective of them.. I can sense that... but sometimes it's better for a person without any pre-conceived notions, ya know?"

Patricia Cain (1398) has posed:
Patricia Cain looks to the chair warily, "Right.. ." she seems to flex her fingers a bit and pushes on the chair hearing it agonize just a bit. "I mean, I guess this will work... ." she sets the brown bag aside and ties it shut. She would sit slowly and take pause clearly expecting it to fall apart for some reason. "Well alright then." she sets one leg over the other and looks too Nate proper.

"Well from my perspective the curriculum is solid. Hard... and has alot of old philosophy about it. Like the teachers here seem to enjoy a dialog among students. Which compared to my old school which was all test prep and regurgitation. The kids range... some are anti social, some are social butterflies. And some ride the middle like me. We are all kinda getting use to our own... issues... ." she pauses, "Some of the kids have come to idolize well... graduates and teachers as paragons of what they could be. And some are just happy for the chance to breath. Many of them coming from fucked up circumstances that make my reason for being here seem tame." looks to her bag and seems to decide against opening it again. "All in all its very drama... but, good drama. Proactive drama... almost like we all had the rough of it and just want to see each other do well. Overcome adversity and all that you know. I can see why your friend would want to protect it."

X-Man has posed:
As Patricia goes to sit down, Nate will refocus his mind, and make sure the chair is as strong as it needs to be. Once she's seated, and he's positive the chair will hold he nods his head, "Cool, uhm, that chair should stay like that so not sure if you want to keep it or whatever..."

He leans back in his own chair, and listens intently. It's easy to see that not only is he taking all this in, but he is seriously considering her analysis of the school. "No, that all makes sense, and maybe a bit more than I expected to be honest." He runs his hand through his hair, a long sigh being released, "It's a good place then? Sounds like they take care of the people who've had a shitty time of it, and I can respect that. Maybe I should come down when there's more goin' on, and talk with some of the folks who've been here longer. I was worried, some of what I'd seen and heard from other folks, made me kind of worried they were a bit... he.. elitist."

Patricia Cain (1398) has posed:
Patricia Cain taps her chin. "Well elitist is an interesting word... and I can see why that assumption could be made. It is likely the whole selective thing; but, I think that's more for safety than anything else. And I mean... A British headmaster always comes with a bit of posh and privileged feel. It's like the world's strangest private school. But, it's got heart which having never been to a private school till now... I think makes it less so." she pauses, "It's gotta be the name, School for the Gifted. On the outside it sure does sound hoyty toyty." she chuckles in mild bemusement

She would examine the chair. "I mean, I'm not gonna lug a chair around all the time; but, I guess this could be a okay spot to come back and sit when I'm not hungry. Sure as heck not gonna hold when I'm well fed though."

X-Man has posed:
Slowly standing up, Nate nods his head in agreement, "I can understand that, and I'd not honestly thought about it that way before. At the end of the day, it's a school and needs to do things to teach everyone..." He seems as if a bit of a weight was taken off his shoulders, "...but they are helpin' people, mutants, who may not be able to deal with the situations they were born into, and that's really important." He looks back towards the lake, "Hmm, seems like Jubilee is headed back to the cabin. I think I'll go tell her that I'll come talk to her friends after all..."

Looking back to Patricia, Nate offers a genuine smiile, "Hey, thanks for the time, and for your thoughts. Means a lot more than ya might think..." pausing at her comment, he adds "...When I come back down this way I'll look you up. Good luck here, and I hope ya settle in quickly..."

That said, aura and eye return as he hovers above the ground, "Nice meetin' you, Patricia. Talk to you again soon."

Patricia Cain (1398) has posed:
Patricia Cain watches the man fly off again with that same inhuman aura. "He seemed nice... wait. He saw someone all the way over there from here? That's a bit creepy... ." she pauses, "Eh well I'm sure I'm quite the chrome dome creepy girl too." she sighs and turns to a different page in her sketch book. A self portrait. A skinny girl in hospital gown and crying in the corner. A food tray flung against the adjacent wall and sores on her head. Patricia rubs her bald head and sighs. "Man, I don't like the contrast in this.... where is my white charcoal pencil." she digs in her art supplies and grabs the pencil while her free hand grabs a seriously fat lug nut from her bag biting it in half. "Man... I really do need to hit up that hardware store again some time... running out of these."
