Be it Ever So Humble...
Date of Scene: 27 September 2017
Location: Unknown
Synopsis: Gwen Stacy moves in; She and Karen celebrate with pizza.
Cast of Characters: Karen Page, Ghost Spider

Karen Page has posed:
They'd met up after one of Karen's seemingly interminable shifts. By all accounts she'd shifted her fulltime day job to full time volunteering at the Goodwill Mission. The building Karen led them to wasn't so bad. It wasn't high class high rise or anything, but it was serviceable. Near a small park tucked in an alcove. The streets nearby were generally clean. Three story walk-up. Old brownstone. Karen had the top floor.

"Right, so, before you see it," she told her friend, "Keep in mind I'm still making it home, okay?"

Ghost Spider has posed:
"Karen, I'm showering at the Y and there's a war on." Gwen says with a smile. "It'll be great." and she puts a hand on Karen's shoulder soothingly. "I really appreciate this. I'll do everything I can to pay you back, I promise."

Karen Page has posed:
Karen makes a dismissive gesture with her free hand, the other stilled upon the apartment doorknob. "Speaking of showers, best time to catch one here is late at night. Mrs. Delany on the first floor uses more hot water than any one person in the history of humankind during her daily chores, and she gets up at 5am. So if you want hot.." She shrugs, and turns to pay attention to what she's doing, jiggling the lock a bit. "And this sometimes sticks. I've told the super. He says he'll be on it, but that's been his answer for months. Been using WD-40 for a bit. It's helped, but one day it's just going to give up the ghost."

The lock finally gives and Karen throws the door open wide. "Ta-da. Home."

Ghost Spider has posed:
'I'll just go in the window anyway.' Gwen thinks to herself, but nods and smiles as Karen talks about the hot water situation in the building. "Got it." she replies. She hefts the bag she had collected from a bus depot locker with a few changes of clothes. "I'm excited!"

Karen Page has posed:
Probably just as well that Karen doesn't get the internal dialogue. And, as it happens, she does have a fire-escape landing just outside her livingroom window..

Inside the apartment are wood floors. Old wood floors. The kind where feet have polished grooves in the planks, and there are spaces here and there where coins like to hide when they roll out of pockets. There isn't a lot of furniture: A couch. A beat up easy chair. A table with two rickedy wooden chairs at it. A television that looks like it's seen better days. The only real furniture of note are the bookshelves. There are three, and each is crammed with books and papers.

"I didn't really think much about where you could put your stuff.. hrm." Karen looks around and comes up empty. "I might have a laundry basket?" That she sounds apologetic about.

Ghost Spider has posed:
"Surely they'll open campus up pretty soon and I'll be outta your hair in no time. I can live out of my bag until then." Gwen says, brushing her hair back of her eyes. She has a look around. "This is neat." she says enthusiastically.

Gwen moves over to the window and peers out, then tries to open the thing and have a look around.

Karen Page has posed:
Karen looks about her apartment as she shuts the door, and *sees* is as it probably looks to another. "You know, this place kind of sucks. Let me get that laundry basket." Before Gwen can protest again, she's off down the hallway that leads to the only two other rooms in the place (other than the kitchen that abutts off of the livingroom, and isn't a room proper, but more like a little halway of its own) those being the bedroom and the bathroom.

Sounds of rummaging can be heard.

Ghost Spider has posed:
"Hey, there's a little bodega down there. Maybe they need some help for a while?" Gwen wonders. She tosses her bag down and goes out on the fire escape. "Huh. Not too far." she mutters, looking down to the street below. "Easy to get up too." and she quick-spiders up the rest of the way to the roof to peer over the edge. When she hears Karen come back into the living room she drops back to the fire escape landing.

Karen Page has posed:
Karen makes it back into the room on the tail end of Gwen checking out the fire escape. Of course, she's not privy to the real reason for the other's inquiry, figuring Gwen was merely checking it out for a place to catch the last of the sumer heat as it petered away into autumn proper. "You can actually get up to the roof from here, too. There's a couple of ratty old lawnchairs up there. Not sure how much longer they'll hold out, but they were here when I got the place. Nobody else goes up there but me." Well, not that she knows of. She's just always assumed they belonged to the former tenant of her apartment.

There's a laundry basket tucked up under her arm. "Say, you know what? You have any of that pool money left? Think I have a ten in my copy of The Fountainhead I could throw in for a pizza. We could bring it back and celebrate. Or have it there and grab a beer?" She thinks there might be a bill or two more in a couple other books if she scrounged. "Yeah, I know. Nobody likes Ayn Rand, but that's kind of the point. Besides, who is ever going to look in there for cash?" Which makes Karen chuckle.

Ghost Spider has posed:
"Karen... you're being so nice to let me stay at all, you don't have to spend any more money on me. I mean, really." Gwen says. "Yeah, I kept thirty bucks for an emergency, and I'd say this was an emergency. I mean, you have to eat lunch and stuff with your money."

Karen Page has posed:
Karen's lips twitch in mirth as she starts rummaging through books. "Pizza is a kind of emergency?" ..In the and she finds money to match Gwen's. Really, it should go for her phone bill, but she's ever hopeful something will come up between now and then and extra cash will show up and there won't be anything to worry about. "Uh, there's a little joint around the corner. Not as nice as Josie's - I'll take you there some day - but the food is good, and it's cheap. Means more money for beer!"

Putting the basket down by the couch, she grabs Gwen's arm. "I'll find you bedding when we get back. C'mon."
