Cast of Characters: Iceman, Vulcan, Ghost Rider (Ketch), Sublime, Jacky Diamond

Iceman has posed:
To say that Metropolis has had the short end of the stick lately would be putting it lightly. It's the freakin' Apokolips, after all. And yet, life finds a way to go on. People really are a resilient bunch, and for much of the population, this isn't the first world-threatening event they've lived through. This is why, despite the looming threat of parademons, certain businesses continue to operate. Like the bodega across from Outlook Park.

"Been here twenty-five years," the man behind the counter tells Bobby, "and I'm not gonna to let some over-sized insects push me around."

The young mutant was happy enough to be able to grab a quick soda on his way to the university, where he wanted to check up on some friends. Happy, also, that not everyone was cowering behind closed doors. "Stick it to 'em however you can," he says cheerfully, tossing some coins on the counter.

From out of the corner of his eye, he spots some blurred movement in the park. Someone running. No, many people running. "Hold that thought," Bobby says, moving to open the door to the bodega and step outside. There, he spots a swarm of winged demons descending on the park. "One of those days," he mutters.

Vulcan has posed:
Vulcan has downloaded a few publicly available incident apps for news reporters, law enforcement and low rent super heroes like himself and teleporting right into the middle of it, so it is no exception this time when he arrives in full armor, sword drawn, one of his guantlets up with a shield ready for anything but expecting the worst.

Ghost Rider (Ketch) has posed:
Having ridden into town on seperate business. Danny was very surprised to find himself in the middle of an alien invasion.. Full on, flying insect-people from another planet.. or dimension.. or whatever.. trying to take over the city. Then probably the planet.

Danny likes the planet, no matter how fucked up it is usually, and has done things he's not proud of in it's defense. Today though.. isn't going to be one of those Not Proud days. Turning his stylized bike towards the park, he guns it, dodging cars and pedestrians alike who are running in the opposite direction fleeing the impending disaster.

Sublime has posed:
She's not normally one for walking around in a costume. In fact, she pretty much had hung it up in her closet and forgoet about it. Which was freeing for Rachel, considering.

Then she got caught up in an Intergang attack. Not once. But twice.

She started taking the invasion a lot more personally as a result, which is why she's actually wandering around in gear for fighting rather than something she'd care more about getting ripped up, a holster slung around her back. And of course, she sees the descending mass heading for the park, so she immediately start jogging that way, reaching behind her to draw her three-part staff.

    Fun times!

Iceman has posed:
Bobby makes a dash for the incoming baddies, pushing past civilians running in the opposite direction. "'Scuse me! Coming through!"

He enters the park to a scene that's become chaotic very quickly. To his left, a parademon snags a young woman and beats its wings to take flight. A quick blast of icy air puts a stop to that and the parademon drops its prey, flying away to regroup. Bobby runs over to check on the woman, helping her up before turning his attention to the rest of the Intergang squad.

It only takes a moment for his form to shift from that of a perfectly normal-looking human to a its icy humanoid counterpart. As he looks around, he spots other heroic types making it onto the scene and smiles. This is going to be fun.

Vulcan has posed:
Vulcan is glad they're not parademons. Humans he can deal more with and begins to run towards them using force fields to deflect attacks with the intention of slicing their weapons in half and then punching the crap out of them. Parademons just didn't even feel his fire effect at least the last time he tried.

Ghost Rider (Ketch) has posed:
Dodging a panicked taxi driver with a couple in the back who are screaming at him to get them away from here, Danny guns it and comes in hard and fast. He see's the burst of powers from Bobby, and a grim smiles crosses his face. "Ice huh.. Let's add a little fire.." He says and lets go of his human face.

His eyes simmer with an inner heat, and he starts to laugh as he erupts in blue flame from within. Flame that chars and scorches and burns off the flesh of his face, leaving only a bleached white skull wreathed in a crown of azure flames. His leather jacket grows inch long spikes at the shoulders and the fore arms, the chain around his chest glows with heat. His bike similarly transforms, erupting in blue flames, and leaving a trail of flames behind him.

The Ghost Rider has arrived.

He charges in, bike roaring, and his chain coomes loose. Lashing out at a pair of Parademons who are targeting a man and his son.

Sublime has posed:
Sublime slows as she reaches the park, then starts whirling one end of her staff as she saunters forwards. She doesn't really do much to point the civilians in the area which way to go...but she does use the opportunity to hit one of the parademons from behind as it tries to swoop past after a pair, hooking her staff around it to yank it to the ground, then going full dense as she drives a fist into the back of its neck, starting to pound on it, then shifting back as it swings at her...the claws passing right through her harmlessly before she lands another high density kick to its face, smashing it backwards. "Like 'em dumb..." she purrs.

Jacky Diamond has posed:
Jacky Winter was taking a nap. Honestly, he'd been distracted by work, and working late shifts, and there's nothing quite so depressing and alienating from the world as working late shifts at a veterinary clinic... animals tend to die at night, and he has to try to keep that from happening. He appears in the middle of the park, then wakes up as a screaming winged demonic bug-thing radiating sheer hatred of life sends a blast of energy at him, and his first reflex is to turn into a form that looks quite a bit like the one Bobby Drake just assumed -- only Jacky isn't ice, he's diamond. The blast knocks him backwards, destroying his tee-shirt and leaving him in basketball shorts.

"The he...ck am I doing here?" is his nost coherent thought, followed by a quick face-punch to the bug-thing that decided to get into melee. The force of the blow knocks both of them apart.

Iceman has posed:
Bobby starts to run through the park, darting around heroes and parademon shock troops as he goes. Vulcan, Ghost Rider, and Sublime are met with enthusiastic cheers from the young mutant, who pauses by a set of park benches to encase an incoming parademon in a giant cube of ice.

"Chill out, man!" he quips, wincing the moment the words leave his mouth. You can do better than that, he thinks, looking for another target to blast.

Before he can, something human-shaped lands hard behind him. He turns, expecting a civilian casualty, but sees instead a familiar face. "Jacky!" he greets in surprise, right before a parademon swoops down, and grapples him from behind.

Vulcan has posed:
Vulcan slices throuh four rifles as their shots bounce harmlessly off of him but the tanks and the parademons interest him more, because they're the bigger threat. He slices into one tank in its propulsion making it stop dead on it, sending fire lacing into the thing as soon as he cuts it open like butter iwth his sword, fully expecting the idiots to get out before it explodes but not stopping to rescue sympathizers with parademons if they don't.

Ghost Rider (Ketch) has posed:
That Parademon grabbing Bobby doesnt end well. As the bug grips and starts to lift him up.. a glowing chain snaps out from behind the demon, wrapping around it's throat.

Clawed hands release Bobby and grip the chain instead.. But the steel glows until it's white with heat, and sheers through the demons armor, then flesh.. with relative ease. Beheading the beast and cauterizing the wound behind it. No ichor to fly around.

The chain snaps back and seems to shrink to a manageable length in the hands of the Ghost Rider standing about 30 feet back. A stiff nod at Bobby and he turns to contend with a pair of parademons who see him as a threat.

Sublime has posed:
Sublime pauses in her pummeling to peer at the colorful group that's shown up to fight off the attack. Hmm. "Capes..." she mutters to herself, staying phased as a parademon tries to tackle her and ends up flying clean through her to slam into a compatriot attempting to sneak up on her, both getting bowled over. She's not really at the level where she can do serious damage to parademons easily. Sure, pound them some and they'll stay down, but they're about as strong as she is even full dense...thus, as the battle becomes a big brawl spread across the battleground, she stays phased a bit, pondering where she can do the most good here...or actualy get something out of it.

Jacky Diamond has posed:
"Iceman! What's goin' on man? I was sacked out an' just got a creepy vibe and here I am in bug-fight-land!"

Of course he sees the thing grabbing Bobby, but despite them being close in age, Jacky was still not part of the Professor's Special Team... his folks said no to that. Drag, because Jacky would be a lot better fighter if he had those Danger Room hours like the guys in blue and yellow got.

He hears something coming up from behind him, and spins, catching hold of a parademon staff and twisting in a sloppy judo throw. The parademon, of course, is Better Than That because they actually train the beasties, but it wasn't expecting a mere humanling, no matter how shiny, to use that much force. The diamond man has a degree of super-strength, after all. Thus, the cockroach-that-fought-like-a-demon hits the ground hard... but keeps hold of the staff. It shrieks something and tries to stun-bolt the humanling, but Jacky brings up a sharp knee, slightly bending the staff and kicking the bug-thing in the face.

"NO. BITING. Anyone got some DDT? I'm not dreaming, right?"

Iceman has posed:
Bits of ice actually fall off Bobby when the parademon's claws dig into him, but it's not pain that he feels so much as surprise at being caught off guard. "Woah-woah-woah!" he starts flailing as he feels himself lose touch with the ground.

Behind him again, an intense heat from the Ghost Rider's chain. He drops, along with the body of the parademon, and whips around, looking at the headless mess at his feet, then up to the Ghost Rider. "Woah. Thanks, man," he salutes, before facing off against his own new set of foes, sticking close to his former classmate. They can catch up after.

The fight has been short, but fierce, so far. It's likely that the parademons and the ground forces didn't expect such a pushback, because as tanks are destroyed and parademons pummeled, some of the force starts to retreat out of the park, diverting from the area to continue on whatever mission they were on.

Vulcan has posed:
Vulcan can't fly and since the parademons are flying they don't pay much attention and the fire from his blast isn't strong enough to pierce their armor so he starts carefully trying to aim for their faces to blind or deflect them. Once Bobby is dedemonified he is now keeping an eye on helping anyone else who needs it while the tank explodes behind him as another turns its guns in Jacky and Sublime. Finally, something he can cut. He distracts the tank with a blast of fire that bounces off its armor but does cause them to slowly redirect the guns while he runs at it.

Ghost Rider (Ketch) has posed:
Ghost Rider turns away from the headless parademon, reaching up and behind his back, pulling a vaguely smoking shotgun from it's holster on his shoulder. Deep engravings glow blue all along the wooden grip and short stubby, sawed off barrel. Point and

*BOOOOM*

*BOOOOM*

The weapon burps twice, erupting in blue fireballs, swatting parademons from the sky, even as they swarm around.

The Demons are learning.. some are starting to steer clear of the flame wreathed monster.

Jacky Diamond has posed:
"GIVE. ME. THAT!" Jacky yells at the grounded parademon as it tries to get the zap-stick to do something. There's something in the voice, maybe, or the fact that they're touching, because it releases the stick and its blank eyes open up wide.

"Go fight with those Intergang jerks!" he yells again, picking it up off the ground by the equipment harness, and it stands, staggering a bit, before it flies off to do just that.

"huff," Jacky huffs. "What is with these AAAH!" and he jumps when he sees Ghost Rider. The vibes from that one are so ... confusing.

"That guy's on fire! And he's a skeleton!"

Still ... Bobby's doing defense stuff. Jacky looks at the stick he just stole, and glares at it for a moment, then points it at the tank gun. A blast of ... something ... fires out of it and hits the barrel, bouncing and channeling inside. There's a faint 'whump' but whether it did anything useful or just looked like a video game critical hit, not yet obvious to those not inside it.

The stick then bursts into flames and Jacky throws it at a flying bug demon guy.

Iceman has posed:
Bobby is working the ice magic now, firing frigid rays into the sky alongside the Ghost Rider's burps of blue flame. Parademons screech at crazy temperature fluctuations and the fact that bits of their armor - not tomention their limbs - start freezing mid-flight.

As they wise up, the parademons scatter and flit aout to the out edges of the park, making their escape. "That's right!" Bobby shouts, "You better run!" he's breathing heavily now and quickly glances over his shoulder to give the Ghost Rider a grin. "We sure showed them, huh?" Apparently, he's not as freaked out by the whole skeleton thing as Jacky is.

Vulcan has posed:
Vulcan slides the second tank but then gets hit in the face full blast with a plasma blast. His armor protects him but it sends him flying backward despite the damage he does to one of the barrels, the outer edge of his visor partially melted. Fixing that will NOT be easy.

Ghost Rider (Ketch) has posed:
Ghost Rider shoots a last straggling demon out of the air, his blue flaming shotgun throwing more flame and searing through parademon armor. The 'flock' is retreating skyward, amidst flapping wings and cries of pain and anguish. Things normal when Ghost Rider is involved.

As the last one falls, the flaming thing reholsters the shotgun, and the chain in his other hand snakes around his chest, over his shoulder of it's own accord.

Then as the chain secures itself, the flames vanish in a puff of smoke, that starts from inside the jacket and erupts up around the things head. As it clears.. he has an actual head. Facial features.. He's just a guy. "Glad we could help."

Vulcan has posed:
Vulcan has to lift his visor which is slightly terrifying since it shows his face and also removes his armor but he isn't about to let these jerks get away with what they have so far, and as they charge at him the sword shooting fire right into their own faces makes them back away and try to find a softer target. He insanely goes back into the tank again readying to charge the other barel

Jacky Diamond has posed:
"That's creepy as f... yeah," Jacky says. "I thought I had a weird power."

In the distance, one or two of the parademons seem to be fighting amonst themselves, and Jacky returns to flesh and blood. He grins in a slightly-too-wide and somewhat creepy way, like a young Jack Nicholson.

"Oh, that's cool. Keep it up you jerks. Fite club is fitey."

He nods to the no-longer-heavy-metal-cover guy and watches as Vulcan keeps attacking the tanks.

"I'd go squish if I got into that stuff. Too bad the zap stick didn't hurt anything. Didn't expect it to though."

Ghost Rider (Ketch) has posed:
Danny Ketch turns to look at Jacky "Not a power cheif.. more of a.. partnership." Yeah like thats not vague at all. "You guys can handle it from here.. I don't wanna turn the other guy loose.. things end up in flames. It's a bad time. " He says returning to his bike. "I'll be there if you need me again." He says, kicking off the bike and turning the bike around to roar off, following the calls of voices only he can hear.

Vulcan has posed:
Vulcan gets shot a lot more while prone, blocking most of them with his gloves a few more singing armor and a few finding flesh but as he returns fire with the sword even while lying down they eventually get a clue and begin to flee, especially without the Parademons.

Jacky Diamond has posed:
Jacky watches as the human on the motorcycle drives away, and a shudder of goosebumps goes up his back. Of course, it could be because he's standing on the grass in Central Park wearing about the same amount of clothing as the Hulk does -- but not being nearly as hyooge -- or it might be that he just had a few moments of Insight and his ESP was working a bit too well, and he suddenly doesn't want to attract the attention of Dan Ketch's partner. At all.

Fortunately he can watch that high-powered mutant guy over there fighting with the business end of a tank. They seem to be running away, and it seems to Jacky that SHIELD or some other more appropriate group will doubtless go after them. Or he hopes so.

Vulcan has posed:
Vulcan actually goes after a few of them, even though it takes the suit a full minute to dial up on teleportation he zings right next to two knocking them out and even gets a third but they too widely scatter. "Damn it!" He sighs. He looks back at the battlefield to see if any wounded were left. He didn't see any but wants to be sure.

Jacky Diamond has posed:
There are surely a few kids who are terrified and separated from parents, and people who were knocked down and hurt, and Jacky can find them because he can't NOT find them -- the suffering vibe is one that's pretty much inescapable. So he starts finding the ones he can reach, and helping out. And no, when the cop wants to know who he is, he can't give him ID because that's at home on the end table. So he has to do the Jedi Mind Trick once or twice. The little hand-wave brush-off is optional.

"Who am I? Not really important right now. What's important is that these kids' parents are over there, and that guy under the tree needs medical help."

Vulcan has posed:
Vulcan looks at Jack do his trick and scratches his head. "What in the hell?"
