Cast of Characters: Zatanna Zatara, Green Lantern (Jordan)

Zatanna Zatara has posed:
Fall is always a grab bag time of year. The days can be bright and sunny but still cold. The evenings can sometimes be warm and humid. This early evening brings with it the former. A bright, sunny day has led toward a quickly-turning-crisp evening. The results? On Earth it would be vibrant colors appearing with the greens and browns. On the Watchtower? The simulated weather has actually begun to do the same. It is perhaps the one room on the whole station that is so closely teperature and humidity controlled simply to keep the plants and trees happy with being in space.

Zatanna sits under a Japanese Maple. The small tree is only perhaps ten feet tall but already its once green leaves have begun to turn a vibrant, deep red hue. She seems to be doing nothing but sitting. Enjoying the feeling of the room. The natural beauty.

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
Walking down the hall, Hal Jordan regards the construction and the technology with a bored expression. Deciding to head to the arboretum, Hal walks through the doors, and admires the beauty of the place. "This must have been put here by someone other than Batman, because this is certainly not his style." Hal grins, picks a rose, and moves deeper into the arboretum.

Moving towards the Japanese Maple, Hal notes that someone else is already present. Sitting under the tree is Zatanna. With a smile, Hal moves closer, and announces his presence with a, HI there Zee. Taking in the breathtaking beauty of this garden?" Hal offers Zatanna the rose he had just picked. "For you."

Zatanna Zatara has posed:
Zatanna Zatara opened her eyes and looked up at Hal with a smile. "Hal." A nod then is offered, "Yes. I like the peacefulness. The view of Earth while sitting amongst plants and trees that exist down there is... magical to me." She smiles at the irony of that comment then looks to the rose. "Aw, thank you. Though you're not supposed to pluck the flowers" she jokes. "The grounds keeper will reprimand you!" But she takes the rose all the same. After deftly plucking the few thorns from the stem, she reaches up and tucks it behind her right ear through her dark hair to be held in place. "That was sweet. What brings you here?"

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
Joining Zatanna near that tree was actually calming. Hal relaxes, slightly, and admires the view, returning the nod. Peaceful was the right word. "You know, I have never been in here before. It is certainly beautiful." Hal's eyes had never left Zatanna as he said that. With a quirk of his lips, and a soft smile, Hal turns his eyes away from Zatanna, and looks around.

"Magical is a great word to describe it." Hal grins and nods. "I know. No plucking the flowers. I just did it by habit. I like to give roses to pretty girls." Hal laughs, something he hasn't done since way before the Darkseid invasion, and watches as she puts it behind her ear.

"I just...I don't know actually. Something brought me here. I think the Universe was saying I needed a little peace...and beauty." Hal winks at her, forever the flirt, and says, "What brings you here Zee?"

Zatanna Zatara has posed:
Zatanna Zatara smiles as Hal joins her on the bench under the crimson tree. She takes out a small piece of paper from one pocket of her vest and begins idly folding it with her fingers as she talks. It's something to do perhaps just to keep her hands busy. Idle hands?

"I'm surprised. But then with how insane things have been lately I guess I'm not?" She laughs. "It's good to slow down. Just find some quiet and get lost in it. The rush of what we do. The expectations and obligations of others. It weighs us down in ways we don't always notice. But find a serene place and if you allow yourself to, you'll release tension and stress you didn't even know you had."

The magician continues to fold the paper into smaller squares, "Beauty, hmm? I'm not sure you're talking about the arboretum now. You'd better be careful" she teases, "I've been known to turn men into snails before.."

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
Sitting on the bench, Hal tenses a bit, not sure how this was going to go, but relaxes when Zatanna assauges his concerns with her words. With a smile and a nod, Hal says, "Yeah." Hal only says that much, watching her with the paper for a moment. Nervous? Idle hands indeed!

"It has been insane." Hal lets out the breath he hadn't realised he had been holding. "It has been a loooonnggg time since I slowed down." Hal shakes his head. "Protecting a whole sector of space that includes this big mudball..." Hal waves towards Earth "...can be challenging. It is nice to just sit on a bench with a good friend, and enjoy the artificial air." Hal chuckles.

"You are wiser than you appear, Zee." Hal says, a touch of admiration in his voice. Then, another laugh. "Snails!?! I believe it. I think that is more a threat for Barry than me, but I get it." Hal nudges her with his shoulder gently, but a slight touch after all. "I promise, no more flirting!" Hal chuckles."

Zatanna Zatara has posed:
Zatanna Zatara folds the paper and begins to fold it on diagonal lines now, adding complexity to the pattern. "I only save transmorgification for the worst of the worst. You're not even close. Yet." She deadpans with a light smile. "It is a good place to sit. Though I do miss the feeling of real wind, the smell of the forest. This is close though. Especially for being in space, of course." She looks around. "Still. It's missing something." Then she's nudged and she looks over, brow arched, "Flirting? Is that what that was?" she teases.

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
Watching Zatanna fold the paper, Hal finds himself truly relaxing with this women, a very rare event indeed. "Ah. Well, that is good to know. I'll have to bring my A game next time then, to get to the "worst of the worst" category." Hal chuckles again, and his brown eyes twinkle with amusement. Zatanna had probably not noticed, but Hal had dropped his mask, so that he could talk to her with no barriers. That was trust.

Looking around, Hal says, "Yeah. Never really thought of that before. No breeze...the smells are nice though. I prefer the smell of the ocean myself, hear the crash of the waves, the beach under my feet..." Hal's eyes grow distant for a moment, remembering.

Getting nudged in return, Hal laughs, a true laugh, and says, "No! I would never flirt!" Hal winks at her, and enjoys the moment. It was...nice.

Zatanna Zatara has posed:
Zatanna Zatara glances sidelong at Hal. She'd noticed and she appreciated it. "You removed your mask." She offers a smile as she continues to fold the paper, now so very small in her fingers. "You don't really want to do that, though, Hal. I don't tend to turn snails back into humans." She shrugs, "I guess I'm kind of evil." She then laughs, "No, I do. But you don't want to carry those memories with you for the rest of your days. And you would." She winks. "Oh no. You're a stoic as Batman. You never joke or take things lightly." she nods with agreement, playing along. "Totally believe you."

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
"I did...I can put it back?" Hal smiles and says, "I thought it was important for us to chat person to person, not Green Lantern and Magician Extraordinaire." It was a nice touch, and Hal was glad she appreciates it. "Ah. Well. I'd prefer to stay the way I am, and not be slow and messy." Hal nods.

"Oh, I don't think you're EVIL, per se, just..." Hal trails off, not wanting to say what he was going to say, because it really didn't matter. "You're a good person Zee. And I'd hate to be a snail. After all, where would my ring fit?" Hal grins. "As stoic as Batman, no. But no one can be that stoic, and still have fun." He laughs as Zatanna plays along.

Zatanna Zatara has posed:
Zatanna Zatara nods. "So... like Guy.." She zings with a grin. Finally the folding is completed and then she begins to tear little rips into two edges of the folded piece of paper. "Snails are only good for cooking in French cuisine" she declares.

A nod is offered, "You could put it back on but that's up to you. I don't mind either way. Whatever you're comfortable with." Beginning to unfold the paper now that she has folded and torn it, she nods in agreement. "No fun at all." A grin. Then the paper unfolds into a little origami bird. The tears were made to form feathers along the back of each wing. Carefully cupping the paper creation in both hands she looks to Hal and winks. "Stoicism can be nice. But it is often isolating." She lifts the inanimate creation to her mouth and whispers softly as if it were alive.

When Zatanna draws back, the paper bird begins to shudder as if waking from a long sleep. It begins to chirp and move about as a real bird. Its wings flutter and then with a merry chirp it flits from her palms and flies up into the tree above them to offer soft song to the otherwise quiet room. "Now it's perfect in here" she observes with a nod.
