Synopsis: A nice evening is ruined by big burly chasing Nathan Drake into Alice's Restaurant and shooting at him.
Cast of Characters: Quake, Nathan Drake

Quake has posed:
Daisy Johnson was all in thinking cap mode. Director Fury's asserttion that she get to the bottom of this mess, by any means available.. was met by a sudden realization that to pull this all off, she was going to have to do better than her best work. She'd gotten caught before. She couldn't this time. Too much was at stake. Only it was too noisy at SHIELD to plot out her next best steps. What gear she was going to need. If she was going to pull in outside sources, and if so, which.

Given that she wasn't quarantined to base, Daisy decided to go walkabout and eventually found herself at a 24 hour Diner some unknown distance away from SHIELD. She's walked until her feet and her stomach said enough, and luckily, Alice's was open. Its red and white neon sign flashing a greeting at a counterpoint to the 'Open 24 Hours'. Daisy didn't imagine the nearby residents were overjoyed by that. It was like some bad disco beat.

There was even a kitchy bell on the door that dingled as she entered. The place nearly deserted - just her, the cook, a waitress who looked bored as hell, and some homeless guy in the back booth, nursing a coffee. Skye took a booth as far away from him as she could, and when the waitress (Margie by her tag) took her order, Skye told her to put a meal for the man on it. Whatever he wanted. Her own order, a black coffee. She declined the offer of a donut. Only when her coffee has been set in front of her did Skye did her rig out of the messenger's bag that had been slung over her shoulder.

Nathan Drake has posed:
It is, indeed, a peaceful scene...just past midnight, but in that odd middle hour of the night where the dinner crowd has mostly cleared out. The waitress retreats after filling your order and goes back to chatting with the cook, keeping an eye on the homeless man who's nursing his own cola and burger.

Outside, in the distance, there's a sudden sound of an automobile horn sounding. Loudly. Right before there's a *crunch* of metal meeting metal.

A moment later a man comes running in, sliding in the door and quickly letting it shut behind him. He looks a bit out of breath as he peers back out, then looks back to the room. Where everyone is staring at him. If nothing else because, well, he's armed with an automatic pistol, though he's not exactly brandishing it, more keeping it down by his side and safely pointed at the floor.

Nathan breaks into a big smile. "Ah, hi folks! Nothing to worry about, NYPD business...is there, ah, a back door to this place?"

Quake has posed:
Skye can't help a smirk when the homeless man gets a meal and the waitress refuses to tell him from who. It should be obvious, given there aren't others in the joint, but the man still seems so bewildered. But grateful. She was glad of the laptop in front of her to be able to bury her gaze in any time it looked like he might look over her way, so it didn't seem she was staring, but the truth was she hadn't even booted it up yet.

When the sound of the accident comes, she's still just staring at a blank screen. She doesn't have time to close the laptop and rush to investigate when the man comes running in, /claiming/ to be NYPD. It sounds and looks hinky to her.

Slowly, Skye closes the lid on her laptop and flashes the newcomer a tentative smile. She's not in her SHIELD jumpsuit - which is to the better. No need to startle the man (who she's already decided is lying about the police business bit), one hand reaching for her phone. "Maybe you should sit down? That sounded like quite the crash out there."

Nathan Drake has posed:
Nathan shoots what he hopes is a winning smile Skye's way as he moves away from the door, perhaps a bit quickly. "Oh, it'll be fine I'm sure...rescue vehicles already on the way, you know...I'm just, ah, looking for the driver. YOu didn't see anyone come this way? Maybe I should check the back door after all..." he says, starting past Skye as he does. "No problem, ah, citizens, just relax and - "

And that's where a yell comes from outside. "DRAKE!"

Nathan sighs. "...dammit." He looks to the people in the diner. "..seriously, that's trouble and you don't want it. Back door please?" The waitress blinks and points towards the restroom area. "There's a fire door...but.."

"Thanks, I'll take it from here!" he says quickly, ducking back that way. You can see several large men heading towards the front door from outside. Not quite there yet.

Quake has posed:
"I didn't see.." Skye's fingers curl about her phone, intending to pull it out and serreptitiously text for help. The man's winning smile didn't do too much to impress her with anything but continuing to deepen her belief the man was a liar. And normally it wouldn't bother her too much, except that crashing outside really could mean someone was hurt..

That thought died an unruly death with the yell of 'DRAKE!' coming from outside. The man's assertion that he was in trouble and she didnt' want to be in it - that sounded like the truth. Between the man, and the one yelling, Skye knew where her sympathies lay - even if they lay with a liar. She could buy him some time, though.

It's a simple matter to close her laptop, scooping up it and satchel, making to the front door. Like she expected, it had a twist lock she could throw. A quick glance showed the homeless man had staked his burger and drink and crawled under the table he was at. You couldn't even see him from here. Margie was back with the cook. That left her able to stuff her things into her satchel and try to catch up with the man, who was no doubt the DRAKE! in question.

Nathan Drake has posed:
AS you move back to the door, Nathan breaks. "Hey, are you crazy?!?" he hisses, moving over to snag you by your arm, trying to pull you back. "These guys won't..." And then he looks past you, and pulls you down to the floor, covering you as gunfire shoots out the door, the glass shattering and a few bullets whizzing past. The waitress screams and runs into the kitchen with the cook to hide.

"...craaaaap..." Nathan mutters, then peers down at you. "Can you fast crawl down the hall to that door?"

Quake has posed:
When he grabs her, Skye hisses right on back, "Hey, watch it bub." And when the shots are fired, she's down and defensive even before he's got a real chance to grab at her and pull her down. "Screw that, do you have a gun?" Which really should have been the first clue to herself that she'd settled into SHIELD more than even she had admitted. Skye of a year ago wouldn't have asked for a gun; she'd have been halfway to that fire door by now.

Nathan Drake has posed:
Nathan glances back then raises his pistol and fires...high, so he won't risk hitting someone. Luckily there's nothing but riverside beyond the front door for the bullet to hit, though it makes the thugs dive for cover. "Just the one..." he says distractedly, then goes flat again as the gunmen outside return fire, several plates and a ketchup bottle becoming victims, the ketchup splattering all over the counter as it explodes.

Quake has posed:
"Well, I can't just leave you here," she hisses, even though at this moment the man is much better defended than she is. And by the looks of things it's debateable if she could actually improve upon his aim or not. With the added bonus that if he's got the gun she doesn't have to make any executive decisions like to kill or not to kill.

"Who the hell are they and why do they want you anyway?" All the while thinking, ~please don't be the bad guy, please don't be the bad guy..~
