Synopsis: Summary needed
Cast of Characters: Aquaman, Aquawoman

Aquaman has posed:
The King of Atlantis has returned to the city of Poseidonis, the surface world still reeling from the invasion of the legions of Apokolips, and Arthur Curry has been away fighting with the Justice League against this alien threat.

Arthur Curry hismelf can currently be found making his way into the royal wing of the palace, a place that most do not have access to, outside of the Royal Guard, close advisors, and the like, Mera, naturally amongst that list.

Aquawoman has posed:
While perfectly capable of spending time upon the surface with the landwalkers, it is beneath the sea that the Xebellian princess feels most at home. It is perhaps no surprise that she has spent the past few weeks beneath the waves and wandering the royal wings of the palace to the point of going nearly stir crazy. News from the surface has a way of filtering down through the oceanic depths slowly, especially when those of Poseidonis have not had the intruders pressing at their own barriers and gates.

No sooner are the whispers carried upon the waves themselves than Mera finds herself ready and waiting for Arthur's return. Crossing the distance of the wing in an effort to meet him head on, her eyes shift to assess him carefully, "The prodigal King returns and here I was all set to set out for the surface come morning tide. I trust you are well?"

Aquaman has posed:
The royal armor Arthur wears show's signs of battle damage, cuts, gouges, a couple spots that have been melted through, though the King himself looks in good health for the most part.

"Mera, it is good to see you as well." Arthur says, flashing a smile towards her and gesturing she should walk with him, "I am well, though there was a lot of damage done in the invasion. I was thinking of offering aid to the United States, through the United Nations delegation. Food and medical supplies, at least."

Aquawoman has posed:
Blue eyes narrow a fraction as they take note of the damage to the armor, offering a mild nod in return, "Damage is inevitable in any invasion, though it would perhaps be best to offer some assistance. If for no other reason than ensuring a potential reciprocation should there ever be a need." Mera agrees with an air of detachment as her hand waves slightly in gesture towards the various melted spots and gouges on his suit, "And you should also see about getting that repaired, sooner rather than later. You were fortunate, Arthur. Though I don't think you really need me to remind you of that."

Crimson lips slowly pull into a line of concern, "You should have sent word. I would have joined you at the front. I could have done something considerable more productive than merely pour over countless maps and charts of Poseidonis history."

Aquaman has posed:
"I intend to send it for repairs as soon as I'm out of it." Arthur nods his head, "And I'll begin drawing up a speech, I suppose." He says with a slight sigh, nodding towards the red headed Xibellian.

"And I would have sent for you, but we didn't know if they were going to turn their attention to the seas as well, and I wanted someone I knew I could depend on here to protect the city if that happened."

Aquawoman has posed:
"Ah yes, speeches..." Mera replies with a faint curl of her lips, "Perhaps the single-handed worst part of being a ruler. Actions speak louder than words, Arthur, just speak from the heart and all will be fine."

Slowly folding her arms across her chest as she takes on a more relaxed stance, she adds thoughtfully, "If they had planned their assault better, they likely would have turned to the seas. I suppose I have no choice but to grant you a pass this time." Mera pauses for a moment before continuing, "I was thinking I might join you when you return to the surface next time. I could likely only benefit by learning more of their culture and ways - especially if we are going to continue to offer them assistance and protection from invasions."

Aquaman has posed:
"I'm not entirely sure they had a full picture of what they were coming into." Arthur replies at that, "Though they clearly had some intelligence on the surface world, the Justice League was one of their priority targets, the Hall of Justice received some pretty severe damage."

A nod of his head is offered towards Mera at the later words, "It would be good to have you at my side up there, I'll let you know before I leave for the surface again. Probably a day, or two, if that works for you?"

Aquawoman has posed:
"Intelligence is far easier to obtain than it should be. Were I to attack? I would seek to take out the league first and foremost," she muses for a moment before continuing, "A risky manuever, yes, but one that helps destabilize the adversary and will leave them hampered for a while after with repairs." Mera pauses before inquiring further, "Were there any casualties?"

Despite her question, her attentions move to rest fully upon him in careful study, "A day or two will be perfectly fine though if you need to rest further and recouperate, I can be patient."

Aquaman has posed:
"I'm not sure on the numbers, though I am fairly sure there were many civillian casualties." Arthur says with a nod of his head, "And there were at least a few heroes who responded to the call who received varying degrees of injury, we took several to the Watchtower for medical aid, though. And I think a day or two will be enough rest time, though I don't really think I'll be allowed a lot of time to rest." He says with a little chuckle.

Aquawoman has posed:
Arms unfolding from her chest, she reaches out to brush her fingers over one of the gouges in his suit, "I can only imagine how bad things would have been if not for your suit." Shaking her head at the thought, Mera finally lifts her eyes back to hold his gaze, "Rest, Arthur. I mean it. I do not care what it is you need to do to relax, but you do need to take a break: read a scroll, take a swim, sleep. Otherwise..." her words trail slightly into a lengthy pause, "... well, we can cross that trench if it comes to that."

Aquaman has posed:
"And what trench is it that we might cross?" Arthur asks, glancing over towards Mera with a little raise of his brow towards her, a bit of a grin coming to the edge of his lips as he moves to sit himself down at one of the couches.

Aquawoman has posed:
"Well, that all really depends now, hmm?" Mera teases lightly as she crosses over to join him upon the couch. Twisting sidewise so that he remains the focus of her attentions, she adds with relative ease, "I had considered the option of knocking you out, perhaps with a kick or even one of those lovely vases in the entry - purely for your own well-being, of course. However, I do sometimes have difficulty holding back and would not wish to inflict too much damage upon you... and I have grown rather fond of those vases."

There is a simple light sincerity in her words as her lips curl into a lighter smile, "I admire you, Arthur, more than I ever anticipated I would but we both know that your selfless nature can be detrimental to your own health at times. You could be skewered straight through with a harpoon and still call it merely a flesh wound."

Aquaman has posed:
"It might take more effort then it's worth to try and knock me out, you know, Mera." Arthur replies to that with a chuckle as he lounges back, facing the Xibellian more fully as well, "And, we do want to think about the vases, you're right." He adds with a nod of his head.

"I've grown to enjoy your company as well, Mera. It's hard to find someone I can talk to as easily down here afterall, and I think my selfless nature is one of my charms." He adds, smiling a bit more, "And, it probably would just be a mere flesh wound.."

Aquawoman has posed:
"Perhaps, but I do so like a challenge." Mera admits with a slight mischievous glint in her eye. There is something about the ease of the conversation that seems to instill an aura of visible calm upon her as her arm raises to lean against the couch, propping her head, "The enjoyment is mutual, Arthur, enough so that I might seriously have to seek retaliation should anyone cause you too much damage... upon principle of course." She counters smoothly.

Shaking her head slowly she actually gives a soft laugh in response to his charms, "I am not quite sure I would consider it charming. Irritating, vexing, groan-worthy? Yes. But charming? I think you and I need to work on the definition of that word.

Aquaman has posed:
"A good challenge is something we both have in common then, Mera." Arthur says with a grin flashed across the way at the woman, "I'm sure you'll find some way to keep me from getting caught up in work though, whatever it takes. And, perhaps I'll have to keep you close to help make sure I don't get too much bodily harm inflicted on me that you'll have to respond to." He adds, "And I'll accept that we have some work to figure out just what charming is."

Aquawoman has posed:
"Not that you are not perfectly capable of holding your own in a fight, of course," Mera counters easily, "I just happen to be better." She adds with the greatest of confidence as the smile continues to play upon her lips, "The female of the species is more deadly than the male after all, Arthur. It is proven in all forms of nature. However, I am willing to relent it may be due to the fact we have less restraint than you men. Even back home, I would watch as the men held back the force of their strikes out of a hesitation to inflict damage upon a woman. Unfortunately, we women do not have such reservations. Man, woman, it makes no difference to us the gender of our enemy."

Letting out a faint sigh as she sinks her side into the couch Mera adds, "It is for that reason above all others that I should stand at your side."
