Cast of Characters: Shadow, Pixie

Shadow has posed:
It's a lovely autumn afternoon in Hell's Kitchen. Clear skies, a cool breeze, and cluttered rooftops as far as the eye can see. Perfect parkour weather, in other words, and Jen is taking full advantage to practice some of her moves.

The young athlete has just scaled the side of a building by hopping from windowsill to windowsill instead of using the fire escape, and is sprinting across the rooftop to build sufficient momentum for a leap from the edge to the next roof over...

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn is out flying today. Dressed casually, her commonly-seen jeans and a shirt, she flies out to the city from Westchester. Flying high, she gets views of things that others don't. So, seeing someone climbing up the side of a building, that's something she'll not only be able to see, but get curious about. When she then jumps off the building... "Oh god," she gasps, and starts flying toward her. "I don't know if I can catch you, I'm no Superman" she calls out.

Shadow has posed:
If Jen were the type to lose her focus because of random yelling she'd have been street pizza long ago; she ignores the shout behind her and pours on the speed for the last few steps, legs muscles bunching for a perfectly timed leap off the very edge of the roof, letting out a whoop as she soars out over the gap on pure momentum, landing on the balls of her feet on the next roof over and turning that momentum into a forward roll to get clear of the edge, then turning the roll into a slide to avoid cracking her skull on an air duct.

She comes to a halt halfway across the roof, breathing heavily and laughing giddily under her breath as the adrenalin high wears off.

Remembering the shout, she gets back to her feet and looks around for the source just in time to watch Megan come soaring in. "... Well, there's something you don't see every day..." she can't help but remark.

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn does a cartoon-like stop in mid air. Only she has wings, and they're still buzzing, so she's able to hold the position without holding up a comica "HELP!" sign and crashing to the ground. Turning around to face where Jen lands, she blinks, and slowly starts hovering closer to that landing point. "What are you doing, you looked like you were going to jump!"

Shadow has posed:
"... I did jump," Jen points out in an entirely too reasonable tone, one hand vaguely indicating the gap. "That was kinda the whole point of going up there in the first place. Don't they have parkour wherever it is you're from? I mean," she adds with a shrug of her shoulders, "I don't think I've seen you around before, so..." She trails off, tilting her head as she stares at Megan's wings again.

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn flies onto the roof proper, and lands slowly, standing there, she sighs, mouth open, exasperated. Raising a finger. "I mean like... jump jump, not.. that. You scared me!" She then shakes her head. "That's more the kind of thing that's in video games..." Then following Jen's eyes to her wings, she snickers. "So you see why I was concerned, right?"

Shadow has posed:
"... Maybe," Jen allows. "You seriously never heard of Parkour?" she asks, then chuckles. "... Although I guess you wouldn't need it, with those," she adds, indicating the wings. "There's a group I sometimes run with, they record their runs and put the best ones on Youtube. Sure, it looks wild as hell, but it's the real thing. I was just going for a practice run..."

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn shakes her head. "I've heard of it, but like I said, you don't really see people making jumps like that." She turns around to look at the gap between the buildings. "I mean most people couldn't make that jump. And no, no I woudln't."

Shadow has posed:
"That one?" Jen asks incredulously. "I don't think there's anyone in the group that can't make that one. The trick is to build up enough momentum not just to clear the distance, but to keep moving when you touch down so your center of mass doesn't pull you back off. Lots of rookies make that mistake." She grins for a moment, then continues. "... Which is why we usually do our practice runs closer to the ground where a mistake doesn't have to be fatal. I just felt like a change today..."

She shakes herself as she finally remembers her manners. "I'm Jen, by the way. What's your name?"

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn has that hand lifted, but changes it into a wave. "I'm Megan, hi." She then looks to the gap again. "Well, sure your group could make that jump but I'd have a hard time making that without using my wings!"

Shadow has posed:
"Pleased to meet you, Megan," Jen replies, flipping her hair back over her shoulders with a shake of her head before looking the girl over critically. "I dunno. You look like you're in good shape. With some practice, I bet you could. Probably want to start off on something a little simpler, though..."

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn looks again, and then walks over to Jen once more. "Maybe. I might have to do some sort of training but you know. I have ways of getting across." At that, her wings glow, and in an instant, she poofs.

A waving figure from the roof Jen just jumped FROM can be seen, with pink hair and wings.

Shadow has posed:
Jen blinks as the girl vanishes, then looks back at the waving figure before taking a careful look at the layout of the building she vaulted from. She gives Megan a grin, then jogs to the far end of the roof she's on before turning on her heel and sprinting for the edge and leaping off... And vanishing below the edge of the higher roof.

Before Megan can entirely realize what just happened, there is a loud metallic rattling noise, followed a few seconds later by another metallic rattling noise, followed a few seconds after *that* by a pair of gloved hands grabbing on to the ledge. Jen lets out a loud "Hup!" as she pulls herself up onto the roof, immediately rolling away from the ledge before getting back to her feet. "Neat trick," she offers. "I don't suppose you can teach that one?"

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn goes wide-eyed when Jen apparently fails the jump. She runs to the edge and looks down to see Jen apparently not falling to hear death, and sighs. Hand on her chest, she sighs "Stop scaring me!" Then alughing. "I don't think I could. I can learn magic but I can't teach it."

Shadow has posed:
Jen shrugs, clearly having expected the answer. "Fair enough... But no, I can't promise I'll stop scaring you -- doing scary looking stunts is what the practice is all about, after all. It's not a good run unless regular people will swear up and down that what you just did isn't supposed to be possible..."

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn laughs aloud at that, and shakes her head. "Well Jen, as long as you kno how to do it safely. I guess I'm partial to making things look impossible because they really are magic." Then stretching her arms out. "I hpe I'm not holding you up though. I was just trying to save your life, not trying to ruin your day."

Shadow has posed:
Jen's laughter joins Megan's, echoing off the buildings. "It's okay," she replies. "Like I said, I'm mostly on free practice right now. Although... What's the time?" She asks, looking around for the nearest clock.

Pixie has posed:
Megan Gwynn reaches for her phone to check the time. "Almost 5. I was going to get some dinner in the city. You're welcome tojoin me for pizza if you're hungry after all thos increidbly dangerous stunts."

Shadow has posed:
Jen's face morphs from a smile to a stricken panic. "... I'm gonna be late!" she exclaims, crouching as if to take off, then looks back at Megan. "Pizza sometime sounds like a great idea but right now I gotta go. Rain check?" she offers before taking off in a sprint, jumping down off the far edge of the roof and using a wall and a fire escape to check her descent, reaching ground level only slightly more slowly than gravity would've done for her albeit significantly more intact. The moment her feet hit the pavement she's running again, in the general direction of Central Park...
