Date of Scene: 21 October 2017
Location: Unknown
Synopsis: A little talk in the woods
Cast of Characters: Lazarlite, Katherine

Lazarlite has posed:
Lytle is outside practicing...he could possibly use the danger room to practice, but that would need someone to monitor the room for him. He has a number of tricks he has learned already, the question is always what to practice. Right now, he is practicing his capefighter katas. The trick is, practicing in the woods so that his cape is confined. It makes the training more difficult.

Katherine has posed:
The woods are an interesting location. There's such a variety of life, of biological life. And Katherine is wandering through these woods without any shoes on. She's stopping every few few and looking at the ground, watching some insect or spider, and staying rather still until they pass or she can move past them. The plant life seems less concerning to her, but she still steps over those, and tries not to press her weight on anything that might damage it. And that's when she comes out from between the trees in the direction of Lytle, and she stops, "Oh, sorry, did not know anyone was out here."

Lazarlite has posed:
Lytle is definitively a blue boy, he has blue skin, large eyes that seem to be all pupil wuth a gleam of blue deep inside, and dressed all in shades of blue. The cape is pulled back, snapping with the sudden direction change. Lytle waits a moment to see if the girl is going to run off before saying, "Hi, I am Lytle. They call me Lazarlyte, I am from Canada, but I am going to school nearby."

Katherine has posed:
Tilting her head at Lytle, Katherine does not seem even slightly phased by the otherwise 'odd looking' person in front of her. She just smiles and walks up toward Lytle, extending her hand, "Nice to meet you Lytle. I am Katherine. They call me... Katherine." She keeps her hand out for a shake, to greet the teen. Being older than Lytle, it also makes sense that Katherine as a tall woman, stands over him as well. Not really looking down at him, though, she does keep her hand as level as she can for him.

Lazarlite has posed:
Lytle takes the offered hand. He seems unafraid...well perhaps a bit shy, but not worried anyone will hurt him. A bit overconfident perhaps. He says, "Pleased to meet you Katherine. Are you from around here, or are you lost?"

Katherine has posed:
Shaking the hand, a little on the exaggerated gratuitous side, Katherine smiles to the kid in front of her and says, "I am not lost. I am always where I am. Except when I'm not." She hrms and releases the excessive shake before tapping her lower lip, "I wonder if that's true true, or just potentially true. If a quark is lost in the woods, and no one is around to see it, is it actually lost?" And there's some thinking there while she taps her plush bottom lip some more, "Without observation, probably no answer is accurate. And, in the same way, all answers are accurate. Huh. You bring up a very good conundrum."

Lazarlite has posed:
Lytle says, "I hear that observation actually changes the behavior of quarks...and possibly of people too. In the case of a Quark in the woods, it is clearly not lost, as it has not been found in the first place." Lytle is not really a scientist, his training is in wilderness survival and a few odd skills like capefighting and holography. Still,he HAS heard of the observer effect.

Katherine has posed:
There's a pause and Katherine mentions, "Well, due to modern quantum physics understanding, it is both lost and found. Visible and invisible. It is not found yet, but it is also found at some time, or in some variation of this universe." She hrms, quirking her mouth to the side a little bit, "It's only just in this relative existence, that when we observe something, the universe must solidify. Otherwise, it's kind of a jumble of potentials." A big grin though as she adds, "Within your perspective though, you are correct. Are you studying physics at your school?"

Lazarlite has posed:
Lytle says, "A little, I was mostly home schooled for a while...since I becames so visible changed. I am catching up with the other students. Of course...the class I am farthest beind in is American History." There is a slightly brighter flash of blue from one eye...he does not have eyelids so winking is impossible, this is as close as he can get."

Katherine has posed:
There's a pause as Katherine listens to you, her smile doesn't change, it's relatively big as she nods her head some, "Why would the way you visibly changed matter for home schooling? Were your parents ashamed of you?" A quick pause before Katherine's eyes get wide and she shakes her head, "Sorry, I did not mean to say it exactly that way. I just realized that could sound terrible. You are a little short, for a male, but other than that... do you have some sort of large scar that you would show if you were in PE or something like that?" And then she squints a little, trying to understand your remark about American History, "Why would that be what you are furthest behind in?"

Lazarlite has posed:
Lytle runs a scan over Katherine, but explains, "A lot of people judge folks by their appearance. I look odder than most, so my visible alterations make being in most schools a bit difficult." He answers he question, "I was raised in Canada...I know Canadian history, that was what we studied more in school. That icludes British and Australian history too, because we were all part of the British Commonwealth until recently. We dis not study American history except where it impacted us."

Katherine has posed:
"Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh." Katherine lets out a long comment before nodding her head, "In this era, America still refers to just the United States." She shakes her head and laughs a bit, sighing out, "That is like still referencing the United Kingdom as a thing... wait..." She taps her bottom lip and then blinks a few times, "I mean, like Great Britain, as a functioning current social construct instead of a reference to a bygone era that really shouldn't be referenced any longer. It was not exactly humanity's greatest time." She pauses, and chuckles at that, laughing so hard she partially doubles over, her entire body shaking as she braces herself on her knees with her hands, "Greatest... time... Great... Britain..." She holds up a finger, sucking in air to breathe before saying, "Like Alexander... the Great... as if he did anything... Great..." She keeps laughing, "Sorry... sorry... ahhhh..." A few more deep, hyper ventilating type breathes before she stands up straight, wipes some tears from her eyes and goes back to smiling while looking at you.

Lazarlite has posed:
Lytle says, "It appears you have a problem focusing your thoughts. Much like ADD, you quickly move to new references and have difficulty staying on one subject. It ia a fairly common problem with speedsters...I know a couple." Having a super powered family link the Force family, he knows people with a lot of different powers.

Katherine has posed:
Blinking a few times, Katherine hrms, "Trouble staying focused? No, I am rather focused." She indicates before asking, with some confusion, "Did you not like my joke? What could I have done to make it better?" Her tone is genuine curiosity, "I am trying to... fit-in, better. I have been told that I have problems with that, but some seem to like my... they call it quirky-ness. And, I think that makes me unique, or special. Even though I know, specifically, that I am not unique. No one is exactly unique. Even if the odds of duplication, in exactness, is nigh impossible, once you accept multiple unrealized realities as actually existing... you become... common. All things being common allows our strangeness to no longer be strange, and thus we now fit in, even if just considering our self." She waits a moment, then nods her head a few times at her own words, as if assessing their accuracy.

Lazarlite has posed:
Lytle chuckles, "Beats me, I do not fit in very well yet except with my family. So, what are you doing out here in the woods of Westchester?

Katherine has posed:
"I was investigating what life still exists in these woods." Katherine indicates, and look around, "There's so much of it. I was rather impressed. Where I am from there are no longer woods, and no longer much life to enjoy." She takes in a deep breath and looks around, smiling, "There is much here to protect, much to be thankful for that still breathes and lives. I think that this Earth takes for granted all that they have, and all that brings them together. I needed to step away from that for a bit, to walk, to understand. Abundance makes biological life as blind as absence."

Lazarlite has posed:
Lytle nods, "If you think this woods is impressive, I should take you to the hidden island. Assuming I could find it again. Still, you are right. There is an old saying, 'can not see the forest through the trees' it means that people often miss what is right in front of them. People overlook the abundance of nature as they concentrate on the minutia of their daily life. I gather you are not exactly a local...from the sounds of it you are either not from this world or not this time."

Katherine has posed:
"A hidden island, is hopefully hard to find. Even if you know where it was." Katherine comments and then offers, "I know there are places more abundant in life than these woods. A single human being, is filled with more diversity, a forest of life." She mentions and then looks around again, "But it is something I can not take for granted." A pause before Katherine thinks, "I am from an Earth, of a different... but same, time. It is a parallel Earth with a timescale of events much more compressed than here, with a longer delay of mutation showing up. Dire things happened... all of the life in the Universe is likely gone by now."

Lazarlite has posed:
Lytle frowns, "OK, so you are a Slider, but all life in the universe gone? That seems unlikely. A universe is vast, if not infinite at least billions of light years across. While life may be rare...only one planet in a thousand lightyears possibly, it is unlikely that none remains. That is...unless something sestroyed it."

Katherine has posed:
Reaching up her hand, and tapping her nose with the tip of her index finger, "You got it in one." She stays smiling, "All of my friends are likely consumed. I did not see it, but you might say that all biological life was replaced." She mentions and continues to add, "Life is not very rare at all, or at least it was not where I am from. The Universe is abundant in life, sentient life a little less so."

Lazarlite has posed:
Lytle, "I have no specific idea of the abundance of life in the universe, as I have not left this world. Out of curiosity, what destroyed lufe in your universe and how did you escape?"

Katherine has posed:
"There was an assault from a grouping of nanites. Artifical life, that had a singular purpose. Replicate. It needs materials to replicate, and such materials are in great abundance. Rocks, dirt, trees, animals. All of it was being used. Supers of all kinds and megaminds got together to formulate plans, but often they were too little too late." Katherine shakes her head a little bit, "Since, I am... me, I was able to be sent through the barrier that keeps our universes apart. Great scientists worked on that, sent me to a place to hopefully help, protect, and to develop the technology necessary to defend this Earth and this Universe from the almost inevitable threat." She smiles still, speaking in a somewhat happy tone still, "I have a purpose, many do not."

Lazarlite has posed:
"Sounds to me like you need to talk to Reed Richards or Lex Luthor, they are the big brains around here who might be able to help," responds Lytle.

Katherine has posed:
With the information that you just gave her, Katherine tilts her head a moment and hmms, "Reed Richards, Lex Luthor." She taps her lower lip for a moment and then says, "Thank you." Turning she starts to walk at a brisk pace back into the woods. Leaving in the middle of the conversation, perhaps presumably to find these two people you just mentioned.
