Synopsis: A strange psionic signature on the grounds causes several people to investigate. Jean Grey and Scott Summers are in for the shock of their lives.
Cast of Characters: X-Man, Shadowcat, Cyclops, Phoenix, Emma Frost, Troia

X-Man has posed:
It seems like it's a normal day here on the Xavier grounds, a crisp October afternoon, but the Sun is out so the chill of the day isn't felt too keenly. While most of the students, faculty, and general inhabitants are inside for the day there is one young man who is taking this time to experiment a bit on his own. For those that are sensitive to such things, there is a fairly decent amount of psionic energy being tossed around, but not in any way that would come across destructive... for now.

The young man in question, his left eye glowing with a bright golden light, is actually in the tree-line on the left side of the Front Yard. He currently has his hand stuck /into/ one of the trees, his head tilted as if in confusion, and then slides that very same hand out again. He wiggles his fingers, grunts once, and then tries the same trick with the other hand. The tree, thank goodness, is still intact without any sign of abuse.

Shadowcat has posed:
Kitty is running around the lake -- it's later in the day than she usually takes her run, but she slept in this morning and so ... there ya have it. As she comes up the hill toward the side yard, though, she catches sight of the boy at the edge of the woods. Not sure what he's actually doing, she alters her course to check up on the situation and slows to a walk so as not to startle him. "Do I want to know what the tree did to you?" And then she tilts her head. "What exactly are you doing, anyway?"

X-Man has posed:
"Huh?!" Nate starts, eloquent as always when he is focused, and looks over to see Kitty. His crooked grin shows up immediately as he lifts both hands, that look slightly transparent, and wiggles his fingers. "Hey! This fine Tree is helpin' me out in some trainin'..." he responds back. His hands lose that transparent look, as he explains "So I figured out how to make it so my hands can move through different things..." Then he shifts his foot, and sticks his foot into the tree, "...er, parts of me, I guess." Again, another shrug, and he remembers his manners, "Hi Kitty. How's the run goin'?"

Shadowcat has posed:
Breathing deeply, though not ridiculously out of breath, Kitty finishes the walk and stops several feet away. "Not bad, Nate," she replies easily. She's studying his hand and listening to the explanation, but there's a faint furrow between her brows. "How are you doing that?" she asks curiously. There's an intensity to her interest, as if perhaps there's a specific reason. But she says only, "Is it an extension of telekinetics somehow?" He might regret having piqued her interest quite so hard.

X-Man has posed:
"I think so..." Nate replies back, his own brow furrowing in thought as he attempts to explain the process he's using. "It's kind of a long story, but here goes." A shield, visible to her to help explain his point, flares up around Nate "So, when I make a shield I can sense all the things, er, molecules that come in and out of it. I can filter what I want, and even can identify them as they are let through. I'm not sure /what/ they are all the time, but once I /know/ them I can look them up and learn what their function is for..." She can see water, then ice, then steam, then nothing as he cycles through an example for her.

"Once I figured that out, I started thinkin', Hey can I do that with other things." He walks over, picks up a random twig on the ground, and she see's that it starts to decompose in short order... Even spookier, is that he starts to rebuild it to the state it was in before. "Then!" and this is where his grin widens, "I figure, Hey, why not see if I can do this on MY OWN physical structure...." Then his hand goes transparent again, "...and so this is where I'm at today."

He pauses, frowns, adding "Wait, that didn't really answer your question." He shakes his head again, "So, I can focus on the subatomic particles in my body, and just... move them around... without fallin' to pieces."

Shadowcat has posed:
She's clearly following the explanation. She nods along with him as he shows her what he's working on, but when he does it with his own body, Kitty gets a rather queer expression on her face. "No, Na--" She stops, not wanting to startle him. When he brings his hand back to solidity, she blows out a slow breath. "Holy crap," she mutters, running a hand through her hair. "SO..... yes, it's good to know you can move things at the subatomic level. Uhm... I would *really* like it if you didn't run about doing that on your BODY without some safeguards in place, though -- what if you hadn't been able to get back?" she points out, trying for a reasonable tone instead of the high-pitched shriek that she can feel building in her head. "Jesus... I don't want to have to explain to Jean that you scattered your atoms all over the grounds, Nathan!"

X-Man has posed:
"Wait wait..." Nate replies as he can sense from Kitty her concern and shock over what he was showing her. He seems totally confused at why she's worried. "Why would there be issues with me not being able to get back to normal?" The tone and look on his face shows that the thought he wouldn't be able to undo had never once crossed his mind. "It would be kind of crazy for me to be able to do somethin' and not undo it, right?" Scratching his head, he considers the possibility now, but he just doesn't follow the line of thought. "It makes sense, I guess, Kitty. I just, didn't think it'd be that hard with how easy the other stuff has been..." Now he looks a little embarrassed as he considers that maybe moving your own molecules around isn't the best idea. It's just about this time that a small trickle of blood will start to come from his nose.

Shadowcat has posed:
She doesn't have a tissue on her, clad in running gear as she is. Kitty quickly reaches down to the bottom of tanktop she's wearing beneath a half-zipped hoodie and rips a strip off it, though, and holds it out. "Your nose is bleeding," she informs him softly. Her concern is very real and she tells him, "You really should come inside and let Hank take a look at you. Straining your power hard enough to give yourself nosebleeds can't be good for your brain." And she smiles slightly. "What on earth made you think to start scrambling your atoms?"

X-Man has posed:
Takes the offered strip, nodding his head once as he raises the offered strip to his nose, "Thanks, Kitty..." He reaches out, taking that same hoodie, and actually fixes the tear in her shirt as if it was never damaged. "Yeah, it's weird..." he grumbles, "...nose bleeds sometimes. Real bad headaches other times. Bled from my ears once in a long fight..." His eye continues to glow, dimming slightly for the moment, "Rogue said the same thing the other day." Nate admits, again looking sheepish, "I could tell him what Forge said back home, 'bout the power pushin' harder then my body can handle, I guess..."

After a minute or so, the bleeding stops, he gives another lopsided grin, "Sounded like a good idea at the time..." He sniffs once, coughs, and shows a grimace as he must have swallowed something bad, "...How fun is it to just walk through walls, and stuff? I learned I could bend light too! Walkin' through walls and bein' invisible is like bein' some kind of crazy ghost."

Cyclops has posed:
Having received a message from Jean, Scott made his way out to the grounds, visor equipped and at the ready.

The brown haired field leader looks very serious, unsure of what is going on out here. Once he seeks Kitty, he backs down a bit. "Kitty, what the heck? We've got huge energy spikes from here, it alerted Jean, and even Emma, who was with her." He looks over Nate quickly. "I'm guessing you're the cause." Scott says, sternly, adopting his famous unamused face.

Shadowcat has posed:
"I wonder if your mother had access to the Phoenix power in your world," Kitty muses quietly. "The combination of that and how Scott's power charges might explain your power overload." In that moment it's more like she's talking to herself than Nate -- more thinking out loud than really meaning those thoughts to be shared. Her head whips back toward Scott as nears them, and she holds out her hand. "It's okay, Scott! It's fine. Not really his fault.... he was working with his powers, and they're a little... powerful," she tells him.

Glancing between the two men, she clears her throat. "Nathan Grey... I think you know Scott Summers by sight. Scott... meet Nathan Grey, alternate reality visitor." She trails off, not sure how much more to actually say.

X-Man has posed:
Ahhh, a somewhat familiar face shows up, and Nate flicks his gaze between Kitty and Scott. He had run into him once, very briefly, when the Not-Remy tried to blow everyone up but they didn't really talk. "Uhm, yeah... probably." Nate responds to Scott. He seems about to say more, but Kitty comes to his rescue... and in turn he gives her a nod of thanks.

"I don't know, Kitty. I'm still not sure I am who you think I am..." His glance moving over to Scott, "...I never met my parents in the pens. If what you think is true, though, it'd be weird 'cause Prelate Summers.." He grimaces at the slip, "...he, uh, was the one that ran the pens for Sinister. I never got a sense from him that he recognized me."

After the introductions, Nate offers his hand to Scott, "Hi, Nate. Sorry if I'm causin' any problems, but from the sensors and protections I can feel 'round this place I thought it'd be safe to practice here since I doubt anyone outside here would notice it."

Phoenix has posed:
The front doors of the school open, allowing a trio of women to emerge. Jean Grey is in the lead, wearing dress slacks and a green buttoned shirt. Behind her are the potential investor, Emma Frost, and her photographer, Donna Troy. Jean's steps are hurried but she's not running, just being sure she reponds quickly to the power signature she is tracking. She turns her hed unerrigly to the side yard and walks that direction, her own powers tapped into and allowing that psionic signature to leak forth. That signature she is sensing is familiar. It was there in the battle against Darkseid. Which tells her nothing except that he's powerful.
Seeing Scott already there, she slows her pace then comes to a complete stop when she joins the small group.

Emma Frost has posed:
Behind and to Jean's left is Emma Frost, a presence not unlike Jean or Charles, but a much more looming figure, walking with as much grace as Jean. The blonde wears a white suite jacket and matching pants, with a red scarf around her neck and a crimson blouse.

The CEO connects silently to Donna's mind, <<Something is going on out here, some one is sending out powerful psychic spikes. I would much appreciate you being on your toes and ready to protect any of us if you can. I will certainly discuss new avenues of compensation afterwards if that's a concern of yours.>>

"Who is the new guy? Look like... oh dear." She whispers to Jean as she spots Scott and Nate looks too much like the boyscout.

Cyclops has posed:
Scott looks from Kitty to Nate and back. "Grey? G-R-E-Y? Prelate Summers? Sinister?" A hand clenches just at the mentioning of that name. Images of the memories he had of Sinister flash through quite loudly.

A moment passes by and the others join the group before Scott gives his hand to Nate. "You're right, no one outside noticed. But a lot of people inside did." Scott can't help but recognize the features Nate has as close to his own, that much is certain. The X-Man removes his visor, replacing it with his usual glasses, eyes closed of course.

Troia has posed:
Donna nods seriously to Emma. "Then I will need a moment to be prepared as you request." She glances to her right, sees another empty classroom and steps inside. Anyone who happened to have been looking at the doorway, or at one of the rooms windows from outside would see a brief silver-blue flash of light as if a strobe had gone off. Or a flash of lightning.

Emerging from the classroom barely ten seconds after she stepped inside, Troia emerges in uniform, silver bracers glinting on her wrists, a coiled lasso of glowing gold rests at her right hip.

Long strides carry her back up to Emma and Jean to allow her to step outside just behind the two. She steps to the side, her blue eyes looking at those present.

Shadowcat has posed:
"Yeah.... G-R-E-Y," Kitty murmurs, just in time for Jean and Emma and their companion to arrive. "Oh dear..." Well, this wasn't exactly how she'd planned on introducing Nate to Jean. Glancing at the group, though, she goes ahead and just says again, "Nate Grey... meet Jean Grey, Emma Frost, and... I'm afraid I don't know the other woman's name." She nods to Donna politely, though. "Everyone... this is Nate. He's a visitor from ... a time and place we don't ever want to see."

Emma's reaction to seeing the two men standing together clinches, in Kitty's mind, that she's probably right on the money with her suspicions about Nathan's parentage. But she doesn't say that aloud just now. Instead, she says, "I invited Nathan up -- several of us actually have invited him up -- to meet some people. He was working with his powers. They're.. very strong and pretty uncontrolled sometimes." She slants the young man a stern look. "And I'm really hoping we can perhaps have Hank check him over before he blows out his brain with an overload."

X-Man has posed:
As more people are walking up to the small group, Nate looks up as he stifles a groan at more company and mutters to himself "Guess I should worry more 'bout inside than outside..." On instinct, his passive scan washes over the crowd, and his eyes go wide as it brushes past Jean. There is a familiarity in the presence, too much like his own, and for a moment his shields shake under his own shock just as he shakes hands with Scott.

In the midsts of the lawn a ghostly illusion manifests, a second set of individuals accompanying the group physically standing here. An older version of Scott by a few years, long haired, his visor only covers one eye as the other is damaged with three slash scars over that side of his face. Jean, hair cropped short, sporting a tattoo on the left side of her face like a wing of a bird. Finally, Sinister, hair also long, a smile of pure evil fanaticism plastered on his face. His voice as cold in the illusion as it is in real life "You are my weapon, boy. You will do what I want. I made you, and you will /obey/!"

Nate physically staggers, the blood from his nose starts up again, a little heavier than before. He seems to be slightly out of hit, almost as if he's drunk, "Sorry.. can't always..." and he let's go of Scott's hand. "Control it." He places his hand on the nearby tree he was using for training. His eyes are slightly glazed as he looks around, "Hi. Nate..." he blinks a few times, trying to clear the host of memories flooding his mind. "...Nice.. to meet everyone."

Phoenix has posed:
Hearing the explanation on the name has Jean looking to the man more closely. Which is when she turns her head and looks at Scott. Then back at Nate. Her brow furrows slightly as she tries to come to grips with everything, hoping to come to an explanation that makes sense. Her own shields are firmly in place but when she feels that brush on her shields, she tenses slightly. Not just because of what it is. No, it is familiar. Too familiar. Her own mental touch reaches out for Nate.
Then there is an answer in the form of ghostly images nearby. Her mouth falls open slightly as she sees Scott and herself, so very different from this world. Then Sinister appears and she reacts instinctively, her powers swelling around her as a wave of heat goes outward.
It's not the visual alone. No, her mind is being assaulted with memories, flashes of horrors she cannot even begin to imaging living through. At the hands of-- She cuts the thought off, refusing to look at Scott though his doppleganger plays a role in the memories she's sharing. Her mind reels as she tries to cope, to accept. "You....you're..." She shakes it off. "You need to sit down. Before you fall down." When all else fails, fall back on playing Mom--no, don't even think that word. They are definitely down the rabbit hole.

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma looks at Donna in her costume and blinks a few times, surprised that the woman not only is Diana's sister, but is so wildly similar, even in taste. <<Glad you're on our side.>> Emma says with a knowing wink like emotion sent towards Donna before she turns her head back to Jean, Nate and Scott, also Kitty who's somehow the currator to this museum of future mistakes and families.

<<I think you need to work on keeping your legs closed across the multiverse Jean.>> Emma thinks at the woman, her smirk visible as she steps forwards towards Nate until the flash of a familiar face crosses Emma's mind. At the same time as the Phoenix heat starts to lance off Jean, the White Queen's mind and body reacts to the temperatures by shutting out all minds and not only encasing, but shifting her entire body back into the diamond form she held the past couple of weeks.

"What does he have to do with any of this?" The diamond woman still sour and pissed at the man who would clone her.

Troia has posed:
Troia stands near Emma. She blinks, tensing at the ghostly apparitions that appear and seem to replay some sort of memory. And then Jean, whom she had only just met, seems to have seen something that is worthy of attacking and does so. Her right hand drops to her lasso but does not free it just yet, only at the ready. She needs to understand more or be directed by Emma, given their association is the one she understands more clearly.

Cyclops has posed:
Scott watches the visual of his alternate self, unamused once again. "That's me, but not. Obviously." His first instinct is to run off, to walk away from this...palpably awful situation. "Sit, please." He offers to Nate, bloody nose and all. "Looks like that man ruins lives no matter what plane of reality he is in." He offers to everyone.

Shadowcat has posed:
The ghostly image of the three people makes Kitty groan a little -- she already knows what's happening in that instant even before things like heat rolls off Jean and Emma instinctively reverts to diamond firm. "Oh for heaven's sake...." She steps sideways and wraps an arm around Nate's waist, her mind deliberately calm with just a hint of exasperation as she touches him. "C'mon, sit," she urges him to the ground. Once she's helped him down, she takes the strip of cloth she handed him a short time ago from his hand and holds it to the gush from his nose, her other hand cradling the back of his neck to help him lean forward a bit.

Glancing up at the rest of the group, she pulls in a slow breath. "Long story very very short: He's from an alternate reality where Sinister won. Nate was born into slave pens, Sinister was test-tubing and combining DNA the way he likes to do, and Nate never had parents." Shaking her head slightly, she checks on Nate's bleeding, her hands on him firm but gentle. "He hasn't wanted to come up here for a lot of reasons, but I finally convinced him that if nothing else... he should at least meet the people here that he needs to meet." Her eyes cut meaningfully to Jean and Scott. "And he needs help with his powers, as you can see. His mentor in his world basically told him that his body can't hold all the power he has. So... as I understand it, it's probably slowly tearing him apart. Probably because that jerk has no idea what the actual hell he's doing when he combines people's mutant powers." She sounds rather pissed about the idea.

X-Man has posed:
"Yeah." Nate agrees with Jean, "Sounds like a plan." and Kitty helps him plop right down on the ground at the foot of the tree. He starts to lean his head back against it when Kitty puts the piece of shirt back up to his face, and he feels the blood slide down over his lips. "Ugh." he grunts, and takes a few steadying breaths. Without thinking about, he moves his hand, and the blood that had run down his chin disappears in a flash of psionic power which causes him to wince in pain. "Dumb..." Nate grumbles under his breath.

Looking up to the new Diamond Emma, there is a small grin that Kitty might now recognize as 'Hey, wonder if I can do that..' but instead he just answers the Lady, assuming she means Sinister given where her glare was directed "He ran the Slave Pens I grew up in. Killed my friends. So I beat him to death." Surprisingly enough there is little real emotion behind his comments, a slight twinge at the loss of friends, but the slave pens or beating a man to death reflects almost none.

Despite all craziness going on around him, Nate gives a rather good natured chuckle at Kitty's summary, "Yep..." his voice a little bit muffled through the torn cloth, "..what she said."

Phoenix has posed:
Now that the initial shcok is over, Jean moves to help Kitty with Nate. That casual use of power has her frowning slightly. "You are never going to stop your nose bleed if you keep doing that," she said in a slightly exacerbated tone. "I can try to help with your powers since I probably am the one most like you." Don't think about it, don't think about it. "Psionics, telepathy and telekinesis. Some matter manipulation although that's new." Normally, she wouldn't be confessing such things in front of strangers but his own psionic signature is so close to his own, there is no denying their relation. In another world. This is so weird. Donna has already proven to be way more than a simple photographer so why even try to hide what she can do at this point. "I had to have blocks in my mind early on to help contain the power. Now..." She isn't going to explain that whole cosmic entity in an itty bitty living space thing.
"I'm coming into my own and those blocks have been removed. If necessary, that may be what helps you although I'm loathe to even suggest it. I may be able to siphon extra energy off of you though, so it doesn't overload?" The last is said in a musing tone since she's not sure if it would work. "You've shared power with me before. During the battle with Darkseid. So I know I can draw it in without burning myself out at least."

Emma Frost has posed:
"Don't forget the same hair." Emma interjects as she appraoches Jean and Nate, a hand motioning to Donna for the amazon to keep close, the diamond woman not one to fight, so she'll have the woman who can kick major ass nearby. Just in case.

"He has your jaw too." Emma says with a glittering gesture towards Scott before looking back at Nate and squints. "Did you see him die? Did you kill him?" Emma asks also wanting revenge for what the man did to her not too long ago.

Troia has posed:
Troia watches, nodding to Emma and moving up beside her. She remains silent, watching this reunion such as it is. She has her own experiences with similar matters if not exactly the same. It is simpler just to be seen and not heard unless something goes utterly sideways.

Cyclops has posed:
Scott's only reaction after Nate sits down is to look at Emma, raising one brow and she would know he was internally criticizing her for bringing it up right now.

"I umm wish I could help more but psionics is not my strong suit." The X-Man obviously feeling a bit out of the loop here.

Shadowcat has posed:
Gently cuffing Nate on the back of the head when the blood disappears, Kitty murmurs, "Stop that!" at the same time Jean chastizes him.

She looks at the redhead, not surprised that she immediately steps in to help. It's always what Jean does -- she helps everyone. And Kitty smiles just a little, moving back to let the older woman step in.

The petite brunette stays close but removes her hand from Nate's face. He can hold the material to his nose now that he's not quite so punch-drunk. "I'm sorry... Jean, Scott. This wasn't exactly the way I wanted to introduce all of you." But her tone makes it clear that she's actually really glad it's happening. Her worry for the young man is almost a physical presence all its own, after this display.

X-Man has posed:
Nate winces at the smack "Oof!" and then chuckles again, this one is accompanied with a bit of sorrow, "Yeah, Forge used to say the same thing.." He blinks a little, a headache starting to accompany the nose bleeds, "He told me that it's 'cause I've always had my Power. As long as I can remember, as a kid in the pens, it's always been there and it's always been growin'." He looks between Kitty and Jean, "Been told that's not normal."

He tries to focus his gaze on Jean, an actual focus is required for some reason, "Yeah, you were askin' for help, and I just.. wanted to help you." in Jean's reference to the fight with Darkseid. He nods his head, which draws a pained grunt, "Yeah, I'll come and have it checked out. It's been worse since I've been here, and doin' more with my powers. I had to hide a lot from Apocalypse 'cause he was huntin' me down."

He looks over to Emma, "Yeah, he died. I saw him bleed out, I shut down his healin', and I felt his mind turn off as I was leavin' to fight Apocalypse." There is no doubt, his words and mind full of conviction at killing his tormentor.

As he's looking around, Nate blinks his eyes a couple times in rapid succession, a bit of groan follows as he says "Uhm.. I think I might not be doin' so well..." and then his eyes will cross, rolling up into his head, before he passes out.

Phoenix has posed:
Sinister, Apocalypse, alternate versions of themselves not all of whom were nice people, alternate worlds where the bad guys won. It's a lot to take in but Jean is filing it away for later. As Nate succumbs, she has her arm around his back but it's her telekinesis that keeps him from falling in truth. Her power wraps around him, cradling him gently then lifting him carefully into the air. "I think we should take him to medical, have Hank look him over thoroughly. I'll stay by his side in case I'm needed."
She climbs to her feet and glances at everyone around. "Emma, Donna, feel free to continue your tour if you wish. Thank you for your assistance." Her gaze goes to Scott, knowing how he is feeling moreso than perhaps the others since she is one of the two who are most closely tied to the stranger. There are no words spoken to him. All the years they have worked together and been friends, there is no need. Then her gaze goes to Kitty. "Thank you for bringing him to us."

Emma Frost has posed:
Emma's crystalline structure shifts back to her normal tanned shade of skin and she turns her attention back to Donna and nods once, <<Maybe you should go change and I'll meet you in the foyuer to begin our tour and inspection.>> "Thank you Jean, I think we will." The CEO says as she turns away from the happy x-family and starts to walk away back towards the mansion.

Cyclops has posed:
A passed out Nate only makes Scott band down and lift up the young man, beginning to take him to the infirmary. "I'll get Hank to monitor him, make sure he's alright." Jean's look to Scott is understood, and he's sure there will be much more discussions later. A simple nod to Kitty, a nonverbal ditto to Jean's words. With that, he heads back in the mansion.

Troia has posed:
Troia nods to Emma and turns, reentering the mansion. Once more there is a brilliant flicker within the one classroom and Donna emerges, returning to gather her photography gear from the reason she and Emma were here to begin with. She waits there for the blonde CEO.
