X-Man has posed:
Now that Nate is feeling a bit better, although it has been made clear that he shouldn't leave quite yet, he has been given leave to move around the Mansion. After learning a few more things about his powers, he decided it might be a good idea to look into how some of these various bits of science could work, and so he found his way to the library. Sticking his head inside to see if anyone is around, Nate will miss anyone present because his eyes go wide at All. The. Books!! He has never seen so many books in his entire life, let alone in a single place, and now he wonders if this was such a good idea...

The library is torture for some kids... but it's a haven for some of the students here. ANd some former students too. Kitty Pryde sits in the corner at one of the tables, her laptop open on the table in front of her, several large books spread out and open around the computer. She seems to be checking the tomes and then typing furiously into the keyboard, intent on whatever she's doing. But after a moment, she leans back in the chair and stretches -- she's been at this for a long while, it seems, and her frustration shows in her expression as she scowls at her screen.

X-Man has posed:
Without seeing her, Nate can tell the unique feel of her psi-signature, and looks around the library until his eyes fall on Miss Pryde. He pauses, she looks busy, so instead of bugging her he starts moving around the library. Wandering aimlessly, meandering perhaps?, is what is best describing what he's doing at this point. Most people probably take for granted how difficult it would be to find something in a library if you have never been to one before. Letting out a sigh, he glances around, before the light in his left eye starts to glow. He stands there for a moment, apparently not doing anything, but then as the light dies down he moves about the room with a purpose. One, two, three books are picked up in seemingly random succession, and then he looks up to the next floor. He thinks about flying, realizes he shouldn't use his powers, and heads to the stairs.

The footsteps bring Kitty's eyes up just because she's curious. And she starts to smile, biting back a call to him as she watches his awe over the library. It never occurs to her that he's never seen one... she herself feels awe at the good libraries too, so it's not an unusual reaction. But as he moves to head up the stairs, she asks curiously, "Whatcha searching for?"

Jubilee has posed:
Jubilee is still standing outside the library door, finishing a fudgecicle. She can't just eat the damn thing, and that's irritating. But she didn't have the willpower just to throw it away. So she stands outside, finishing it's creamy, chocolatey goodness until it is just a stick. Then she sucks the stick. Then she bites it. Just for kicks, to look at the fang marks left in the wood. It's a habit that goes back to her childhood. Back before the bite marks were fang marks. Then, she tosses the stick in the garbage and bounds in the door to catch up to Nate.

X-Man has posed:
Once he gets to the top he picks up two more books, and looks over the balcony to Kitty. "Heyas..." He balances the books in his arms, and winks at Jubilee as she heads up to meet him. "...looking into Particle Physics..." he calls down to Kitty. He looks around the second floor one final time, and then shrugs as he has enough for now. "From what I've heard 'bout my tests so far, seems like it's an important topic."

"Particle physics?" Kitty echoes. And then she looks toward the door to see Jubilee there. Tilting her head, she offers, "Hi!" with a smile. Although she's been away to university, she remembers Jubilee -- she came to the school not too long before Kitty left. "Particle physics?" she asks again. "What about particle physics? Because that might help what I'm working on."

Jubilee has posed:
Jubilee gives an excited wave to Kitty and grins, and then Nate mentions particle physics. And her. Expression. Goes. Blank. "There's numbers in them thar physics." And numbers are DEFINITELY not her strong suit. Nor her weak suit. If she had to dress in the suit that represented her numeric proficiency, people would be afraid to tell her it was just her birthday suit.

X-Man has posed:
"Yep..." Nate responds back to Kitty, "...the tests that's been run so far shows that with my powers I can control subatomic particles... both matter and radiation." He seems excited about understanding his powers a bit more. As he walks by Jubilee, he see's and senses her interest change, and instead gives her a quick kiss on the cheek. "Numbers, yeah... Also has got flyin', invisibilty.." he coughs once, maybe a tinge of red to his cheeks, "phasin', shields from the Sun, changin' the weather..." He motions his head towards Kitty as he heads back down the stairs, "Hey, you know each other?"

Kitty giggles softly at Jubilee. "A little, I guess," she replies to the query. "You could do fireworks, right?" she asks Jubilee. That's honestly about all she remembers.

Although she's listening to Nate's recitation of his powers, she doesn't want to exclude Jubilee from the conversation so she doesn't follow up on it immediately.

Jubilee has posed:
Jubilee grins at Nate at some of the skills he lists and nods quickly. "I remember. But oh...the numbers." She holds her head melodramatically. "Yeah, fireworks, that's pretty much the extent of what it was back then. Flash-bang." She hangs her head. "Without the bang," she adds, noting the pathetic 'paf' sound her flashes made.

Shadowcat has posed:
Nodding immediately, Kitty says, "Awww. I thought it was pretty cool!" She smiles at Jubilee. "I'm really glad Nate found someone who understands the Grey drama around here." There's a tone of amusement. "All right.... Jesus, talk about an expansive power set." She sighs and then says, "The place that I work might be able to help out, Nate... Hank's really good, and I'm going to get him in on the research for it... but I'm thinking that with some of the people I know, we might be able to find you a way to keep your power from being quite such a tidal wave."

X-Man has posed:
Nate takes up a table near Kitty, putting his books down, and frowns a little at the current discussion. "Fireworks?" He starts sorting the books, it might not be obvious the pattern, "Must have been 'while ago?" He asks of Jubilee, "What you showed me at the lake seems stronger than just Fireworks. More like angry blow torches..." He pulls a chair back for Jubilee to sit down first, and then nods to Kitty, "Yeah. I find different ways to use it every day. I was told if I looked into this it might help me figure out new tricks...." He thinks about what she says, "...uhm, ok..." She can tell he's hesitant about the thought of research, "I'll be honest, Kitty. I always get worried when folks are talkin' 'bout experiments. I don't have the best past with it... I Know it's not the same, but it's hard to get past."

Jubilee has posed:
"Things have changed..." Jubilee says to Nate, quite simply. "When I changed." She listens to the two talking and shakes her head. "No...nobody is gonna experiment that way. And if they tried, I'd show them a very angry, very lame-sounding blowtorch."

Shadowcat has posed:
Nodding immediately, Kitty says softly, "Yeah... that makes total sense. And I'm not talking about experiments. Not like that, I promise." She makes a point of meeting his gaze and letting him see whatever he wants to in her mind. "One of the ... contacts that I work with. He's in the Justice League. He's the reason that I have the research job at STAR -- and believe me, he understands my concerns about anyone getting their hands on this research that I'm trying to do. But... people like you and Rogue. I want to give you a way to keep your power under your own control -- still accessible when you want it, just not going wherever it wants whenever it wants. And preferably not trying to eat your brain." She glances at Jubilee to see if the other woman believes her.

X-Man has posed:
"We're fixin' that..." Nate says simply to Jubilee, there is no doubt in his voice that whatever he is doing he thinks it is working. "...but got it." Once she's sitting down, Nate sits so he can see both of them as he talks, "I know. I trust that you wouldn't take me someplace like that, Kitty..." and he smiles at Jubilee, "...and I know you wouldn't let them get 'way with it, Jubes... or Kitty." He flips open one of the books, there's a weird flicker where he is at, his eye glowing when the flicker stops, and he closes the book that is now on the last page. "Yeah. I heard that there might be a problem with my ability to control how much power I pull. I'm happy to talk to anyone you guys trust. I wouldn't want to 'cause trouble for anyone here, or make them worried. I know that I've shaken things up by not payin' attention."

Jubilee has posed:
Jubilee is, meanwhile opening a book that Nate picked up, and staring at the first page with the blankest look that ever blanked. She stares for minutes on end. Not scanning the book like Nate. Not even scanning the page. Just staring. Blankly.
